I saw Richard Fortus with Thin Lizzy 'bout 2 years back. He really seems to be the only guy that really has the classic rock in him with new Guns. He's definately the 'Izzy' in this line up. Knows his stuff too, beautiful 68' les paul, and that James Trussard Tele is just beatifull!
I gotta admit that I had never accepted Richard Fortus as a true member of GNR. I viewed him as "Gilby's replacement" just as I viewed Gilby as "Izzy's replacement". Still, I held Gilby in higher regard than Richard, as he was in the band during their heyday. After seeing GNR tear up Cincinnati last night, my opinion has changed. Gilby couldn't carry Richard's boxer shorts. Gilby, I wish you well, but the job rightfully belongs to Richard until the day Izzy shows up to reclaim it.
YEA I TRIED TO TELL PEOPLE WHEN THEY ANNOUNCED THE REUNION TOUR AND IT WAS ANNOUNCED THAT RICHARD WAS PLAYING AND ALOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINED THAT IZZY WASN'T GONA BE PLAYING BUT I TOLD EVERYONE RESERVE JUDGEMENT UNTIL YOU SEE THIS GUY PLAY AND EVERYONE NOW KNOWS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, HE'S A MONSTER GUITAR PLAYER AND FINALLY GETTING THE SHINE HE DESERVES, I'M CURIOUS TO SEE IF THEY DO A RECORD WITH HIM, PLUS HE LOOKS A LITTLE LIKE IZZY FROM BACK IN THE DAY, JUST A LITTLE
Well said man. I was the same, strictly only the AFD line up for me. When Guns toured Australia last year, I hesitated in going. It wasn't until my mates in New Zealand saw them play and told me how cool the concert was. So I brought a ticket the day before the concert. Man, I be honest, I'd never even heard of Richard Fortus before. But he totally blew me away, and I personally think he's the perfect replacement for Izzy. I'd happily see him live in concert again!
@MrMurens Sorry, the last two Rig Rundown uploads were at the House of Blues in Chicago, which have become infamous for their unwillingness to light the stage, so we're left to shoot Rig Rundowns literally in the dark. Yes, we used our camera's onboard light and upped the visual gain on the camera, but that all degrades the visual integrity of the video as you can see. In the future, anymore HOB shoots will include bringing a full-light setup!! Thanks for watching, --PG
One of the best session/touring guitarists around. He's played with Axl Rose, Thin Lizzy, Crystal Method, Rihanna, BT, played guitar on songs with Ozzy Osbourne, some Wu Tang Clan members... Anyway. Who are YOU ?
+Tyler Hier That's a perfectly sensible notion. For one he has taste, in his attitude, and playing. In the event Izzy wouldn't do the possible reunion no one would fit the bill better than Fortus. I mean, him and Slash? That sounds just awesome, in theory.
Awesome, thanks for uploading! He's definitely my favourite out of the new GnR guitarists. Him and Bumblefoot are great, DJ Ashba seems to have been hired for another reason..
Jason You interrupted Richard...he was going to tell us which lindy frail he has in the neck position on that metal tele. What was that pickup ?..the first guitar in neck position ? ta cheers
Now this guy is truly a guitar player. He actually knows his gear and what he is using it for. Dosen't seem like he is into the whole "I'm a ROCK STAR" thing.
I love your channel and videos on all these rigs, great job. When are you guys going to document the live rigs of Mick Mars *AND* Nikki Sixx? ? ? To this day, I have never seen or heard of anybody showcase in detail the live equipment up close of these two musicians.
He plays a ton of lead guitar on the albums and on tour. He also plays for Thin Lizzy and is a far better player than Slash is nowadays. You wouldn't take free gear if people threw it at you?
I saw slash on tour and Guns on tour this year. Gus is without a doubt a better show. Slash is playing non creative out dated rock n' roll. His playing has really suffered since VR broke up. Richard is a great player.
Yea, what is it with Premier Guitar and video of gear? No proper lighting, no steadycam, don't spend enough time on individual boxes to see what it is. Hey guys, this isn't a first person action shooter, it is a video to document gear, ok?
These older rundown videos are so hack. This awkward dude doing the interview, the crappy dude behind the camera can’t get a good shot to save his life. It’s hard to even watch honestly. Glad they revamped it because the current videos are done really well. End rant.
its seems that all the guitar players that r more mainstream rock seem to have heads of guitars and heaps of pedals. and some times more then 1 type of amp. were compared to people who play metal they generaly have 1 guitar for each different tuning they have and like 3 or 4 pedals. its weird.
Yea, Jazz III picks yet again...the "little red friends" unless you are Joey Bonamassa who get's his gold coloured. You gotta have a stiff prik, I mean a stiff plectrum if you wanna command the instrument.
WHEN YOU HEAR HIM TALK AND WATCH THE DJ ASHBA RUNDOWN YOU SEE THE DIFFERENCE, HE'S A REAL PERSON AS TO WHERE ASSBAH IS A TOOL THAT SEEMS LIKE HE ONLY DOES WHAT HE THINKS PEOPLE THINK WILL BE COOL
Am I he only one who thinks he is British even though I am well aware he is from Missouri. Dude I swear he looks like he is from the U.K. for some reason.
@TheAgentAssassin lol that is so annoying it's...uhhh...insane! No way you could do a shot for everyone, you'd be passed out drunk before the end. What's wrong with him?
i have nothing against the new GnR even though ilike the old guys better, but it seems really awkward when hes talking about songs and ablums he didnt write aha
