True? As an Italian, this song is full of childhood memories. My brother was only 2 and he loved to sing it. And two days ago I read on the Italian newspaper that they lost all their money and basically nobody wants to hear their songs anymore... A bit unfair and very sad. They were a huge chunk of the 80s in Italy!

I like how a majority of 80s songs have fun and quirky dance choruses, but the chords in between the choruses can often evoke a sense of seriousness/urgency. It’s like melding various moods together in a single song. I feel like I can dance to it, yet at the same time, listen to it carefully and ponder about it. The 80s were a great era of music indeed!
I met a young Italien girl back in 1983 whiilst working at the Nardo test track in Salento. This has been "our song" ever since then as we married in 1986 and are happily still together. We have our own dream house near the beach at Porto cesareo so this song is in our heads every time we drive there.

I grew up in America but with Spanish roots. I have memories as a child of everyone singing this song in my family's resort beach town in Spain. It's so interesting to think that their songs were extremely satirical in nature, yet almost undetected of their true meaning in the popularity of the general public, who very much embraced it at its cheery face value. It's a tricky thing to comprehend across three lingual barriers, but man is it interesting and makes me appreciate it so much more now that I have a better understanding of the world.

My Spanish teacher played this for our class back in 1990-1992. We liked the chorus, melody and just the catchy up-beat tone. She played it on a record player. Muchas Gracias por uploading. Era il 1983, venivamo dalla vittoria dei mondiali di Spagna dell'anno precedente ed eravamo appena entrati in un decennio che si rivelerà collettivamente felice, una sorta di remake dei mitici anni '60. Vamos a la Playa deflagrò in quella caldissima estate come una gioiosa promessa rivolta a tutti e ad ognuno che la vita potesse essere una vacanza perpetua fatta di sole, spiaggia (per l'appunto) e spensieratezza infinita. I decenni successivi, purtroppo, si incaricheranno di dissolvere brutalmente questo miraggio.

Scusa, ma l'hai letta la traduzione del testo? È apocalittico! Dice sostanzialmente "andiamo in spiaggia, la bomba è esplosa, il vento radioattivo mi brucia i capelli". In un certo senso inquadra le due anime, opposte, degli anni'80: l'edonismo e la paura della Guerra Fredda.

Quien sea chileno se acordara que las radios chilenas en el verano en la zona central en 1984 las únicas dos canciones que se repetían en ese año eran "cuarenta grados" de los Iracundos y "vamos a la playa" de Righeira. Era tan repetitivo que más de una vez en radio y televisión he escuchado que hay personas que aún recuerdan ese fenomeno del verano que nunca más volvió a ocurrir.
