First time hearing a song from Righteous Brothers. I do not own this song, it's just a reaction video but I was shaken... #Reaction #Righteous Brothers #classic
This song was recorded over 700 times by individuals and no one can even come close to comparing with this amazing performer !!!!!!! This is Bobby Hatfield , simply amazing !!!!!!!
This was a live performance on the Andy Williams show there was no auto-tone or gimmicks. BOBBY SANG THIS BY HIMSELF The other brother was there and they sang later on in the show. Bobby Hatfield owns this song no one can touch his performance. Many artists before and after him have done this song but Bobby is top on this. His performance was effortless, smooth and sheer perfection. Many fell in love with the song and him.He was the whole package. I grew up listening to this music. When the Righteous Bros perform together its pure magic.(the song was done originally for a prison movie about the prisoners miss their loves and hoped that they would wait for them to get home) Listen to You've Lost that loving feeling by them and Your my Soul and Inspiration...Also They do You'll never walk alone another beautiful song by them. Glad the younger generation is listening and appreciates it.
Your friend told you right. Today's music is not even in the same league as music from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. And the Righteous Brothers were among the best.
Bobby is gone now, but he lives through his music and great effortless singing. There is no one that has ever done a better job on Unchained Melody than Bobby Hatfield. He owns that song. You’ve heard the best.
The most played song on TV and radio of the 20th century was “You’ve lost that loving feeling” by the Righteous Brothers ( Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley)
Awesome! ... The great Bobby Hatfield. He was one of a kind: I was 12 when I first heard this back in 1965!.... A live performance on The Andy Williams Show.... I:m 70 now, & this song always gets me emotional... Hitting those high notes. 🙏🙂
Bobby said later that he was nervous because his mom was in the audience and it was the first time he had ever performed live in front of her. But he was such a natural that no one could even tell. He was one of a kind, for sure. What an angelic voice. And great reaction video, thanks!
this song came out in 1964 and i was in the military at the time. the war in Vietnam was on and everytime i would leave to go back to sea my girlfriend would play this song while i was gone. we got married in 1965 this was our first dance song at our reception . to this day my wife is always affected by this song when she hears it. it brings back memories to her of when i was gone for long periods at a time.
There's no music today or in the recent past that even comes close to Bobbie Hatfield's Unchained Melody. His rendition is far beyond a classic, it is pure Gold and Perfection. I doubt anyone can sing it better than Bobbie. Remember this is a LIVE performance with NO electronic enhancements - just Bobbie's incredible talent.
This song is my husband and my’s. We are both from the 60s. He would call me and let me know he was coming home. And now we are older and he still dedicates that song to me. He only has a few weeks to live now and he says to wait for him, because he wii be coming home . We both believe we will see each other again. Because Jesus Christ said all those in the memorial grave will hear his vice and all will all stand up. That’s when my husband and I will see each other again. I will always hear that song until I die.
You have just been swooned by one of the best voices ever, the late Bobby Hatfield. RIP Bobby. Music then was about singing to your love and trying to win her heart. Try Lost That Loving Feeling also by the Righteous Brothers.
I think it's simplistic to say one era's music is better than another. There's so much music by smaller, more obscure musicians that is great stuff, but everyone judges good music based on what's popular. And yeah, this is a great song I've heard many times. But I'm still hearing new, wonderful music because I use the technology that I use to watch these videos and find the things people make without the taint of record company interference.
I never feel my age until I see young people reacting to songs I’ve always known but then I feel the joy of discovering this with you so that makes up for it 🤗
,great song great reaction. True pure talent! No auto tune, no half naked dancers, no fancy get ups! Try their songs "you've lost that loving feeling" and "soul and inspiration" also maybe try another old timer Patsy Cline and her songs "Crazy" and "sweet dreams"
Right, and that’s what makes it even better. And I did a reaction to “you’ve lost that loving feeling “ you should check it out. Also putting the others songs on my list.
The feeling being pulled from deep within you.... That is why Bobby Hatfield and Bill Medley were called crooners... Women melt to the voices of guys like him. lol
Bobby Hatfield, RIP, was a tenor and, as you can see, did a solo with this song. The other half of the duo, Bill Medley, is a baritone with a deeper voice, and the two of them complement each other wonderfully when they perform together in songs such as "You've Lost that Lovin' Feelin,' and "Soul and Inspiration." If you're in the mood for swooning, check out "I Just Want to Make Love to You."
This live version of the song (Andy Williams TV Show) was the BEST version. Bobby Hatfield's mother was in the audience. He was 25yrs old at the time. He wanted to sing the song perfectly for his Mom. He knocked it out of the park. When he recorded the song for the album, he did not hit the G4 (G5-?) octave at the very end. He lowered the tone. Not sure 'why' but he did. The Righteous Brothers were dubbed, "Blue-Eyed Soul" back in the day. Listening to the song, you know why. This song will forever last the test of time. Why? Because, "Class will never go out of Style".
Yes - the immortal Bobby Hatfield - didn't even need his "Righteous Bro" on this one - LIVE - and I've heard he was nervous about this performance b/c his MOM was in the audience - I cannot doubt that she was proud!
If that is true, then I count him as one incredibly brave man. I've heard it said that courage is not the absence of fear but the belief that there is something more important than your fear. He conquered it in this instance. A hero.
Dreaming Music The first time I saw the Righteous Brothers was around 1990, right after the movie Ghost came out (this song featured prominently in the movie). The electricity in the arena when Bobby sang this song was unreal.
I listen to this song everyday. It is so beautiful. I have never heard anyone react to Anne Murray's "Just another woman in love". I would like that or Donovan's "Catch the Wind".
The song was written for a movie called Unchained back in the late '50's. The movie was about a convict in prison who, when he gets out, he wants to know that his love will still be there for him.
@@dreamingmusic7771 i never saw the movie. In fact, hardly anybody did and it is rumored that the film was destroyed. At least a great song came out of it!
My husband just asked a couple of days ago, why it was named that. Now I know. And it really gives the lyrics a whole new meaning... "time goes by so slowly" (serving time) etc.
This is when music really began. I was born in the 70s so this was before my time but it still amazes me how good it is and i have heard it thousands of times. This live version is by far the best one. Every decade has good music it just gets harder to be original as there was so much that came before. The talent is still there but the music industry just doesnt want to know. How many artists have become famous from youtube that alone tells you the story. Top reaction slainte from ireland.
You are absolutely right. I do think that the talent is still there but yea the music industry isn’t all about just talent anymore. They just goes for what will sell and sometimes that kinda buries the talent. Thank you for watching
Its nice to listen to someone who's new at listening to a singer they are unfamiliar with but can enjoy it,anything by this duo is great,i LIke to hear your reaction to Joan Baez's Diamonds and Rust live version from around the same time.
I don't know exactly why but this showed up in recommended videos. The title was bittersweet for me. Me and my wife were out one night and on our way home when we were hit from the rear by a drunk driver. This song was playing prior to impact. We were goofing around singing it when we were hit. Our car rolled side over side, the driver's side tires popped causing the rims to dig into the asphalt and the car started to flip side over side. We were both thrown from the car. When I stopped rolling down a hill I wasn't quite sure what happened for a minute or so. Then I saw our car off in the distance and I quickly realized that something caused us to wreck. I couldn't raise up to walk so I crawled on my stomach looking for my wife. I found her laying on her back on the Interstate. I immediately knew she was dead. That would be the last time I would see her. Because of her condition, there couldn't be an open casket. She was my life. I was so lost without her and still am. We had met while we both were still in high school. Now I just look forward to there being a Heaven and hopefully we'll one day be reunited. If you're lucky enough to have someone in your life that you love dearly, always remember to let them know it as much as possible.
A little perspective. This song came out during the Vietnam war and every time I hear Bobby sing “I’ll be coming home, wait for me” I see a young girl reading her young soldier’s letter written home to her. Also the line “Are you still mine?” shows the distance and uncertainty between them. But there is no doubt how much he loves her and misses her touch. Thanks for the react!!!
One song, one man, one mic, one 5 octave voice, and one million woman ovulating at the same time - the perfect storm. .. This was the most played song at weddings in the 1960s/70s.
Girl listen to this song close your eyes and imagine your with the one you love. The times had so many real singers (no electronic help) Listen to the group The Platters The early or original group The lead singer had on of the best voices ever, My Prayer,Only you and so many more.
This is the kind of music we grew up to way before you were born. There was no such thing as autotune, and no real singer needed it. They just sang...melodies. There's nothing like it anymore. Compared to the real thing, today's music isn't music. It's more like how we used to curse or try to irritate someone.
I love the Righteous brothers they have so many good songs and are used in some movies this song was in the movie Ghost and you’ve lost that love and feeling is played in the movie Top Gun just to name a couple of movies that use their songs you should check out their other songs you will get to hear the other brother sing
Yeah I’ve heard this before! I grew up with this kind of music due my parents along with b/w tv and rotary phones with party lines. How many people here remember?
... "Unchained Melody" was recorded by ... The Righteous Brothers for Philles Records in 1965. The lead vocal was performed solo by Bobby Hatfield ... According to his singing partner Bill Medley, they (The Righteous Brother) had agreed to do one solo piece each per album. Both wanted to sing "Unchained Melody" for their fourth album, but Bobby Hatfield won the coin toss. - Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unchained_Melody)
Now, listen to it again and instead of a wedding, think of a prison full of guys when their wives come to visit. The song was written for the 1955 movie "Unchained" about just that.
I'm glad you enjoyed Bobby Medley - he was amazing ! Another similar song is by the late great Jeff Healy "Angel eyes " is one of those songs that sticks with you
The Righteous Brothers were also nicknamed Blue Eyed Soul. A couple of years before this recording they called themselves Bobby and Bill when they were singing in bars in California, they were working in a bar outside of a military base and some of the guys were listening and after they went to talk to them and told them they were ‘righteous bother’. Bobby and Bill thought that would be a good name for them to take, the rest is history!
To get the depth of emotion in a song you were talking about you first need a good lyric and melody then a singer who can bring out the emotion in the words of the song by their performance. There is good reason why this song is so popular to sing by numerous artists. I have heard many versions of this song that I really enjoy but this one in my opinion is the best. It a perfect marriage of song and artist. Bobby just nails it. His control and artistry is breathtaking. You can feel the emotion of longing and love that he is trying to convey by his performance. It is not surprising that they chose this version to be in the movie Ghost. It fits the love the characters in the movie have for one another.
I first heard this music when I was on a date with the man I eventually married. I can still see us driving around the city in his car. How could it end any way else? I was a teenager. Glad you can enjo it, too!
Love your reactions. You have to check out the best vocalist from down under John Farnham singing the Beatles song "Help" live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. His vocals are crazy and he's an entertainer, the way he interacts with the crowd is awesome. John Farnham is an Aussie icon and now is 71 but sounds just as good.
