Former vocalist/ guitarist for the band Triumph breaking out on his own with an album very different that in his Triumph days. If you're expecting Triumph sounding songs you need to listen to Triumph albums because this is nothing to do with his former band. He proved he could sing mellower songs in Triumph and here he does a nice little ballad on his own but the album failed in sales regardless of his affiliation with such an awesome band as Triumph.

Brilliant ballad, ooh so beautiful, so emotional - the more I listen to it, the more it becomes one of my favourite. Back in the 80s I had a couple of Triumph LPs but I didn't know about this solo work. I'm glad I came to know about it now - thanks for posting it.

This is Riks taste in music (one of many) and was always was trying to go in this direction. Gil Moore was constantly steering Triumph to be a hard rock band. Gil "pulled" the rock and roll side of Rik out of him. And boy did he ever rock. Rik never wanted to be a big flashy rock star on the road 24/7 year after year. This is one big reason he left. He wanted to pursue his artistic self. He was being pulled in 2 different directions. I agree with you though....I really wish he was able to stay in Triumph. That threesome was phenomenal. My #2 band of all time. (Halen being #1)

Just another music style...that's all. Throughout his solo career, Rik explored every genre he liked and every genre that inspired him. But don't think he completely abandoned rock. Check out "Midnight Black and Blue" off the Airtime album. It's a collaborative work he did with Michael Shotton. And it's the polar opposite of this song.

The sentimental ballad WHEN A HEART BREAKS was used to mend a broken heart of my older brother from another mother after a death of his younger sister. Another brilliant ballad LET ME BE THE ONE was used to heal him hereafter. He shared the stage with Rik and played together in Lockport in the USA in 2013. It's a musican who forced me to pick up my own electric guitar and to learn to play it. I absolutely love his musicanship and personality. His uplifting lyrics, his picking, shredding or banding, his strong vocals and his male charisma are remarkable. He was a real Rock hero of my youth and remains to be my own guitar hero. He needed to fight against prostate cancer and I hope that he will survive. Thank you so much, dear Richard!

Yes but it's on an old VHS so the quality is not very clear. I can't fix old VHS tapes.
