Thanks for demonstrating the installation. That gave me some great ideas. Also, the Rode Wireless Go II sounds exceptional! Great job! Sub and Like added!
Very welcome. Hope it was helpful. Please subscribe if you have not already. I would really appreciate that. I have more Ring videos on the channel. Thanks so much!
We had an issue with signal strength on our Ring Doorbell, and they were able to install a repeater that helps to augment the signal. Both of our two front camera and the Ring are the farthest from the router in our home too.
I don’t know if you have done it already but most routers you can increase the signal strength in settings. Or like what others has suggested to add a new wifi repeater closer to the lights.
Absolutely. And on the router if you don't know how to do it you should be able to call the tech support at the internet company and they can walk you through the process. Great information Derek. Much appreciated!
Is this where we can put how envious we all are - that your garage doesn't look like you drove your car into a box of "shit that your family has had for 20 years?" :) Great presentation and now I am even more ashamed to get behind the camera and showcase MY Dad's -- Umm, areas of cutter with some creativity spilled on it like gravy :)
I learned a lot of what not to do on my last garage. So, when we built this house I had all my idea about what I wanted. But, more to come. Another enhancement coming.
Sooooooooo you are setting up a floodlight above your outdoor regular lights?, they have dusk til dawn light bulbs or motion sensor light bulbs you could have installed into your existing lights.
I wanted to cast more light on our 3rd car driveway. The lights on the house just don't cast over there. This Ring Floodlight did the trick. Lights It up nicely over there and also helps the Ring cameras pick up better video in the dark. I love it and it has been great.
I installed one of these recently, just above my front door.. I don't like it so far. On the daytime, it "detects" motion the whole time even when there's none, except for some wind maybe. On night time, it only detects motion when we get really close to the front door, while my neighbors' cameras/lights can detect me as soon as I get on the street.
Hi David. Have you tried to adjust the settings, I remember when I installed mine it had a really short detection zone. I adjusted it so it would come on as soon as someone stepped in the driveway. Give that a try and let me know.
@@DadsGarageDIY In the app, I went to Motion Settings, then to Motion Sensitivity and selected "High". During the day I'd be flooded with Motion Alerts the whole time, so I turn alerts off, since I've looked outside and know there's nothing. At night time, it's a different story, no alerts except when getting close to the lights, which are placed just above the front door. Both my neighbors to the right and left have cameras with lights and they detect me first from afar before my own lights do. They won't turn on until I'm really close. I don't know what brand my neighbors use but I would like this one to work in a similar way. It's kind of odd that their cameras/lights detect me before my own. I looked at the "Neighbors" section in the Ring app and know there's lots of robberies or attempted robberies in the area, breaking into cars and stuff.
@@David659- That just isn’t right. I would hop on their website and call their tech support. Good luck. Their support used to be really good. Once Amazon bought them their support has been downgraded big time. Maybe you will get lucky and get someone good. Let me know.
I could not find a way for it to work without the Ring app installed. If there is a way I could not figure it out. For me though that was not a big deal because I have the Ring camera's everywhere already. So, I just added that that the list of devices on the app. Thanks Sami. If you find a way please let me know.
@@DadsGarageDIY Did you charge the battery fully before putting it in the light? I didn’t do anything to it. I just charged the battery with the usb unit until it was fully charged, put it in the light and installed the light on my garage and everything worked fine. Maybe you have a defective unit?
@@lostrhino73 Yes. It was fully charged. But, it would not turn on until I connected it to the app and made adjustments to the sensitivity, etc. Maybe it was too non sensitive from the factory and needed more sensitivity to function. Hmmmm
Here is the one I got. www.amazon.com/Introducing-Ring-Solar-Floodlight-Motion-Sensor/dp/B07YP9W129/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=ring%2Blighting&qid=1602576181&s=amazon-devices&sr=1-7&th=1 It is not on the ring site anymore. Not sure if it is discontinued or what. But, Amazon still shows it. I think the one you got is the newer model. I am seeing a lot of people saying they eat batteries really quickly. I installed this almost a year ago and have never had to charge the battery. The solar panels are working well on all my camera's and the floodlight. I have learned they take hail very well too. We had a significant hail storm on 2.21.22 that wrecked our roof and gutters but the ring devices survived unscathed.
@@DadsGarageDIY yeah thats what I saw too that people complain about the battery life on the one that uses D batteries. Thanks for the link, I appreciate it!
@@tanktexas I am so sorry. I do not know anyone down there. I did some checking last night with people I know and I only found someone that does repairs. Good luck tanktexas.
