It really feels to me that Halbrand is Sauron. I know they've set him up as a "king" and that can explain his diplomatic skill and ability to charm people. He seems to be able to pull just the right strings, a real manipulator. Galadriel has been warned that her constant pursuit might be what brings Sauron back to middle earth. Halbrand has made comments to her about him wanting to stay on Numenor and her insisting he return to middle earth. She is thousands of years old and seems to be pretty impressionable when talking to this 35 years old guy. Halbrand's advice that Galadriel needs to identify what the queen most fears seems like something Sauron would say and possible foreshadowing.. Has he identified what she most fears (him) and he will use that against her to help him? I wonder if his insistence to stay on Numenor will have something to do with the fall? It would make sense that Sauron would want to oversee the fall of Numenor as revenge and to "weaken men" before making his presence known again.
