As a Brazilian, I gotta say that if you liked it in english you have no idea in portuguese, its amazingly good, we carry this movie in a special place in our hearts 💚💛

Sadly, a few years after this film was made, it was announced that all wild Blue Spix Parrots are gone. The only one's left are domesticated ones. They tried to introduce domesticated Blue Spix to the wild but no news how it went.

nigels voice actor is also the one that plays tamatoa in moana! his voice is iconic

Yes, the movie is awesome. But are you aware that one of the reasons they made the movie was to make people aware of this parrot being in danger of extinction? And now it's extinct in the wild. Oh, and if you love wholesome, talking animal movies, you should watch Watership Down...

Brazilian boy here!! I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS MOVIE!!! One of my favorite animated films!! A little worn out, right, but it knew how to capture the heart of Brazil and many of us love this film so much! 💚💛

I genuinely love this movie because it so effortlessly weaves real issues into it's plot while telling a compelling story about independence and trust. And my god the musical numbers are so memorable. The sequel somehow manages to replicate all of this too.

It's funny the voice actor for Nigel is Jemaine Clement, he is also in Moana. It is so sad that he is so seemingly undervalued because he does have such a charismatic demeanor even with just his voice. I saw an interview of his once, where he was telling a story about how he was in an elevator with a child and their parent and the child was holding a figurine from Moana. When he tried to tell them he was in the movie they just laughed and said "No you're not".

If you haven’t seen critically acclaimed and award winning Chicken Run (2000), it is absolutely worth a watch. 😀 I give 🐓🏃🏻‍♂️two very enthusiastic wings up! I was happy to see you enjoy Rio as I found it to be a lot of fun. Jesse Eisenberg was eggcellent casting.

Oh also not to be a bummer but Blue Sky Studios which was the animation studio behind this and more notably the Ice Age movies, unfortunately closed down in 2021. Truly a loss of talent in the animation industry.

I have loved this movie ever since I was little. I would always watch it when I went to my Nanas house. I still love it today :)

I think some of the art / design was inspired by angry birds 😅 like, Blue’s third babies are like the 3 blue birds in angry birds. Jamie Foxx was the tiny yellow bird, Will I Am was the big red bird 😅

First of: I love this movie, it's a gem from my childhood. I have a series suggestion for you though: Malcolm in the Middle. It's a sitcom about an absolute crazy but lovable messed up family, has great characters, great comedy and drama, although there are some bad aged jokes in there, but it's an old sitcom so what else would you expect?

Love nature and animals like birds , and i remember every time we go to Kenya to visit my moms side of the family we go out one of the days and going on a picnic in a beautiful big green park and there are trail paths its a fun adventure and are msny different coloured butterflies and birds and there are swans at the lake a there are monkeys and horses even farm's nearby like Kenya is like a half world half wild life nature and its beautiful

i know its a little detail, but it bugs me that the feet are wrong on the birds. in the movie the parrots have 3 toes (2 forward 1 back) but in reality parrots have 4 toes (2 forward and 2 back)

2:17 I have issues with the word "humanity". It's just such a big hypocritical term for me. Watching at humanity with open eyes, the "everything is fine, and BOOM, Humanity!" is much more accurate to describe what humans are like. Exploiting, oppressing and putting ourselves first before considering others, as long as we do not suffer any disadvantage, that is what we are in general. Something like that "humanity" Oscar talked about is rather an ideal that is desirable and something that we humans wish the qualities that this term expresses would define us. Kindness is somehow in us but that "humanity" people mean by saying that term is not what defines humans at all. I don't mean to be rude here pals, it is just something that bothers me. We need to be more honest about some things that may not attractive but still true.

I guess it's an unpopular opinion, but I was never really a fan of this movie. There are a lot of cliches and stereotypes. Like it says on the article Hollywood’s Brazil: Rio (2011), in Not Even Past: "No one really seems to work in Rio: they are too busy partying in Carnaval, going to the beach, hang-gliding, or thieving. Afro-Brazilians are cast exclusively as thugs, pranksters, or dancers." I also always thought that the birds singing and dancing like that were a bit off. There are other things besides those. This is my opinion, of course, everyone is entitled to theirs.

1:23 As a bird, I can confirm that birds can indeed annoy each other… I generally love my fellow feathered friends (I get along particularly well with little songbirds and ducks), but the incessant “coo coo” sound made repeatedly by the morning doves in the tree outside my dining room can grate on my nerves. And there was once a mockingbird that hung out in the tree outside my bedroom window that had learned a couple of lines from the chorus of a Justin Bieber song and sung it over and over… until it learned my alarm clock sound and started making that sound an hour before my clock was set to go off.😡 That was the first bird to ever make me want to tap into the cock fighting part of my nature.😉

Arara is Macaw in portuguese 😊 As a Brazilian, and we are neck deep into Carnaval now, the carnaval scenes and the mouth samba noises are very real ahahaha. But to me this movie was okay-ish? Not my favorite but i dont personally hate it.

So as a lil kid I got KFC once and went to eat at the river bc we had brought food along for the ducks, and I still feel so bad for this, but when we ran out of that food and the whole group kept following me around, I threw a couple chicken poppers out for them so they'd be distracted enough for us to back out of the parking lot. It wasn't until afterward that my aunt looked at me like I was crazy and i realized what I'd just fed them😅🤦🏻‍♀️ love this movie but it never fails to remind me of that 😂

Haha, I grew up with this movie. I'd replay the party scene over and over. I think plenty of young girls had a slight crush on Nico, the small yellow bird. I'd give the movie a good 7/10 as a movie on its own. Maybe an 8 if I add the fact that it told the story of the Blue Macaw/Hyacinth Macaw which is still a vulnerable species. Unless it was the Little Blue Macaw or Spix Macaw, cuz those are gone in the wild. Domensticated ones arw being reintroduced in the wild though. The music also still slaps so hard. ...I deduct points for the pretty average artstyle choices and character designs (I remember confusing the security guard with the evil henchmen). 3d was Blue Sky's wheelhouse tho. And the dog. As a kid I could handle him, but I'm sensitive to spit and vomit so the very well animated slobber makes me sick every time :)
