the most important is technique, there is not a single good paddler in the world who has bad technique

at 1:35 you can see poulsen boat hitting some stuff. And when pimenta was reaching 500 meters you can see the suddenly decrease of his speed. surely because of garbage he hit. Rio didn´t have the right conditions for these races

Checkout the european championship. If you follow this sport, you would know that he dosent ran out of power at 500m. Im not defending him, but even poulson and Max Hoff didnt have the same performance they use to have.

Van Koeverden got the fastest 500 m race ever up to date as well as Hoff is the fastest on 1000 meters. The race time of the winner is rather slow compared what they usually do. In these speeds any tiny little sea weed is slowing you down. Van Koeverden's time in the B-final should have been enough for a silver in the A-final.

oh shut up. the rowing races were held a week before and there were no problems of such kind. he just faded towards the end and thats it. the portuguese kayak team peaked too early in the season and arrived in Rio with poor fitness. it's as simple as that

(1) I think this race was discontinued from the Olympic program. (2) Age plays a role. He won bronze with the team in Paris.

Don;t know if anyone has an answer to this but would indigenous peoples who using Kayaks on a daily basis as part of fishing,hunting etc like Inuits and peoples from the Amazon be as fast as these Olympians in Kayaks?

They can, with improved technical skills... I was just a paddler with fishing boats in the village and managed to dominate our national athletes in national & international level, who are city athletes...

@@greenhornet8262 nah it was. Look at 1:35, poulson hit something, likely garbage or some litter. If it stayed on his boat, it would be extremely unfair because he’d basically be doing resistance training in the middle of the olympics.

esta prova e as eliminatorias foram todas yma vergonha um escandalo o rio esta cheio de algas o que perturba e imenso os atletas eu faco canoagem e sei depois ha muitas queixas de atletas inclusive o pimenta ah e o pimenta deu uma tareia a esses todos que ficaram a frente dele no campeonato da europa
