100 octane fuel, Klotz castor at 40.0:1, and jet on the fat side for constant wide-open cycles. Maintain your air filter like a madman. Ive ridden and built 2-strokes for over 30 years and have never had an engine failure. You might want to consider a steel sleeve liner for your cylinder too. Just make sure you bring it up to temperature and break it in properly before you start hammering it. An old team Kawasaki Baja trick was a handlebar mounted choke to richen the mixture while riding, and that might be an option here as well.
Dr. Hugo G. Hackenbush This is my first engine failure since 2005 😝 The issue here was cold pinch due to the missing thermostat and it turns out these cylinders was never intended to be tuned, for tuning they use a different cylinder/piston clarance (I have matched that now)

How many hours/kilometers? If not a lot I think the likely cause is a wrong mix. Also be careful with the oil quality... I tested ipone and motul : piston was perfect at replacement step with motul, but with ipone oil the piston was dirt (with same running hours, kind of roads). Good luck!!
@@sashabanchi8679it is related but not that big of an impact. if you have more oil in it, it's less gas compared to air. So it definetly makes a difference wheter you run 6% or 2% oil mixture with the same carb setting.
I seized my KMX125 30 years ago the same way. I was running full throttle on the highway, a car pulled over just in front of me, I cut the throttle and applied the brakes, and when I opened the throttle again, the engine seized. What happened ? When cutting throttle, no oil is pumped into the engine anymore. Therefore seizure. It's as easy as that. Now I've learned to drive a bike and always keep a minimum of tension in the throttle cable, and also I'm driving a 4 stroke 4 cylinder 1000cc bike now. Full throttle on the highway is not possible anymore.
Great content, keep it coming! Please buy an EGT and make sure to use it while riding, that way you´ll know when to stop pushing he bike before something happens.
This exactly happend to my moped after i put on a high rpm exhaust (vocca warrior) om My 75cc I went full throtle and went about 120 km/h and it just died
wow normally when I blow up a twostroke it's the piston skirt cracking off and embedding metal into the head. but this was the cilender plating chipping off first maybe its a BRC issue.
Yeah, I heard from others who seized too. U can't go full throttle on these. After 6800rpm the power signs out and all you do is superheat the piston and the engine "cold pinch seizure"
@@celestinschermann5927 il est au mélange et sûrement une mauvaise huile ou alors il n'as pas assez mélangé car il a serré quand le moteur etait en charge a fond
It did "cold pinch", but not because dropping in temperature. To quote BRC: "our kit was never design to produce power over 6800rpm" I know NOW that if you ride this engine over 6800rpm it drops fast in power and it causes the piston to heat up fast insted. ALOT of ppl have seized these, I was just filming when I did. IMO this is a prototype engine that should never have been sold to the public.
Zwinge dich.
I suggest you to get a proper carburator, i may be wrong, but newer ktm's Has the 36 carb. Maybe you should get a 38 or even a 39 with some proper jetting. The 500cc draws a lot more air volume. Or even better a lectron carb, but not just plug and play one, one that is properly jetted for supermoto, wideopen cycles.
Didn't know that. 😬 in any case those "huge" bores in a super moto use will be surely less fragile if ran on a little bit richer mixture, surely be better leaving the "lean" spot on mixture for 125cc's
Ron Shteiner I tried both lectron 38 H series and a lectron 40mm. But it seemed like i had to choose between easy start or power 😂 The middle thing was just "meh" fuel range was good tho 😝 atm I have a 36keihin bored to 39,3mm thats 100% as big as my reed will allow as for size. If you just messure the diameter x 3,14 on carb and backwards messuring it on the intake/ reed opening. BUT In Adam Miller is working on his BRC 500 now, so I'm pretty sure he will come up with the PERFECT carbsetup 😝
Ron Shteiner There will ba a wait intil i get the cylinder back atleast, but weight reduction is still going 👌 Reached 99,53 KG today👌 jetting was to BRC spec + some more, but I'm thinking that I'm gonna go WAY up on the mainjet, and jet downwards til it does not drown next time😂 to be 100% sure😂
7500 € pour ça 🤣 en espérant que se qui avait l'intention de faire la même chose (installer le kit brc ) on changé d'avis . Bah oui c'est pas parce que des "youtuber "qui fond des vidéo sur un produit que se produit est forcément une pépite..
@@gnagsaar_ I have been looking forward to the video following the porting and bored carb. And alternative pipe to the stock supplied FMF I see BRC are doing new CDI units now.
Mark Baxter Yeah I struggled a bit with motivation for YT 😝 My edits up til now have just been getting like 1k views while my instagram story gets 4k views 😂 But I might try to make a better video while rebuild 😝 YT has missed out on ALOT 😝
You clearly dont know this setup. This engine is built for this ktm and will require 0 rigging up to install and has a counterbalancer&electric start. It would be downgrade to move to maico.
@@jj-hf8jy this engine was in another bike before, and it's not like it's the end of the world to make some new engine mounts, and I'm guessing there is some balancing parts in the maico as well, but sure, let's go with your thoughts
