Remembering and honoring John Lennon by remaking his classic song "Julia" from The Beatles White Album. John's original version was a stripped-down 2-guitars, 2-vocals version.
In this video, I show how I recorded a loving re-interpretation, adding percussion, 3-part vocal harmonies, a vintage Mellotron, a pair of Nashville-tuned electric guitars, plus electric bass and a mandolin solo. I hope you enjoy this brief trip inside the recording process. -RC

This is without a doubt one of the best interpretations of any Beatles song by anyone I have EVER heard! (Of course "Julia" is really just John). Your creative harmonies and inventive production are stunning and touching. I just love this! Beautiful work Mr. Cassard.

As a Scouser from John's home town Liverpool this is great. Listened to the full version on Apple Music. You are right about John's guitar playing too. We can all play the parts - but it took him to come up with them. We can all play the Beatles tunes on guitar - but none of us could have come up with them. Just like good artists can copy the Mona Lisa. :)

Lovely, beautiful. The song has been a bit of an ear worm for me this week and then this shows up. I think it was the first line that drew me in, and hearing it was from kahlil Gibran puts it into context. Both John and Kahlil had quite ‘flawed’ personalities behind the beautiful words and artistry. You are faithful to the structure of the original, the only two things I might do different, would be to double up the bridge, it always feel too short to me, and a slow fade ending on the haunting ‘Julia’ phrase, like the sound of the sea receding into the background. Have you heard the Morgan James version?
