moncy101 most bands r shit but they have a few good bands. and rise against is waaay too big of a band to play there. the place couldn't support the amount of people that would go
Eww there are so many rise songs that are better than savior... Don't get me wrong, savior is a great song, but it's too mainstream for me and it gets old after a while. That's just how I see it
Ján Lacko Sorry sorry... jajaja I really like all kind of rock music but I don't know why I had not heard Rise Against until a couple of weeks ago. Now I know it's normal jaja
Not everyone has the same taste in music. Taste in music is like opinions. They differ from person to person, and most people don't have an open enough mind to broaden their horizons and explore what else is out there. And that's fine, those who don't want to find new music just because they don't like the genre can continue listening to whatever it is they listen to, be it punk, rap, metal, indie, pop, etc. Some people dislike them because they have abandoned the DIY punk mentality where you are supposed to barely make enough money to scrape by and not get huge or you're a sellout and therefore 86'd from the punk scene, also. I can in some ways understand that. The media is a pile of trash that's feeding young kids lies about how you won't be somebody unless you party every night, do a ton of drugs, get blackout drunk and have a ton of promiscuous sex. Playing into their games, while sometimes necessary to put food on the table for your band's growing families, can be considered a dick move that shuns the community you were once an active part of. It's really looked down on. Sure, they have a positive message in their music, but they're still helping fund those who run MTV, VH1, various radio stations, the music industry in general, etc. etc. etc., since they get money for showing music videos/playing the band's music on the air, mass-distributing their music, etc. That being said I enjoy their music still, old or new. I was just explaining what some people think to answer your question.
inamoratasamazing They haven't abandoned the DIY ethics of punk. At least I don't see it that way. They have just evolved. But they started out like from a classic punk rock and DIY mentality and practice. That's part of how they got where they are. But if your a band like them and in their position and you have the opportunity to reach more people, and yes make more money (which omg doesn't make you fucking evil or a sell out that is a stupid immature attitude and just fucking trite); than why wouldn't you take your message, your art, your lives/career, to the next level. By having that elitist hipster us vs. them mentality of purism and superiority you alienate and exclude the rest of the music listening world by staying in your little underground niche where its comfortable, risk free, un-challenging and allow you to maintain that smug attitude of "oh well were so much better because we have nothing to do with the mainstream". It's just foolish, bands like that while appearing to maybe have strong convictions or a code just serve themselves really under the illusion of staying true and pure to the "underground". Its really just about ego and superiority i think. What's the point of music like that that's supposed to be made to have some kind of message that's about changing society and having an impact, if all you ever play to and expose yourself to is people already into the "scene" or movement? Fans of that kind of music who already have those values and understand the messages are the only ones who will hear it. I believe they firmly have their heart in activism and their message. And they avoid sounding to preachy because they are also artists that write good music and they don't have that snobby elite punk rock attitude. Their music does reach a lot more people. Now I don't know if for a punk band they are as popular or successful as say Green Day, but those dudes aren't really very political or into activism and their music is boring by now, and they (Rise Against) do have a lot more success than other less mainstream bands but because of that and the money they make they are able to fund more projects that actually have a social and political impact i think. And it's not like they live like rich rock stars or have those kinds of personalities. I don't think they are playing into those games like you said about the music industry and all its propaganda aimed at youth to just not give a fuck about anything but just partying. That is the mainstreams idea of rebellion and its fucking stupid, and you don't have to be on a major label to promote and perpetuate that propaganda. There are unfortunately a bunch of so called punk bands that do exactly that but aren't on major labels or part of the mainstream. I think by being on a major label and having a bigger audience they subvert the mainstream and its fake ideas of rebellion and its conformity. That's also a huge problem in the punk scene itself, lots of punks have the attitude that if you don't look or sound a certain way that your not punk, and that's bullshit, they are the ones ruining and killing punk. Which is what they accuse bands like Rise Against of doing, when they are actually the ones keeping it alive by allowing it to evolve, reach more people, and grow to be more than just adolescent rebellion, or teenage angst, or just a crazy "party on bro!" band that's either all about the hardcore image or self-righteous preachy elitist (ineffectual). I also think they strike a pretty good balance between political and personal and emotional lyrics. So even though they aren't my favorite punk band or anything, I still love their music, and I think they are important and relevant and actually making a difference so I got a lot of respect for Rise Against. If some people don't like them I don't give a fuck, everybody has their own taste and opinion.
"Although we have no obligation to stay alive On broken backs we beg for mercy, we will survive".It may be because I'm stoned right now but sometimes just those words give my life enough meaning to keep on going.
I've been looking for this song for about 2 years, i tried writing the lyrics but had no result, after a long wait i heard it again and use an app for searching music, and here i am, Glad i Finally found it. : )
Eleonora Well, once Rise Against is popular everyone will be saying "So sad that this is now Mainstream stuff, they were better before they became famous!"
"answers inches from our face" ive always loved that line ever since I was a child; the imagery of fixing the world and healing people resonates in my brain after I hear it. rise against is a really powerful band with a really amazing message. I will never let go of the hope that echoes within their music.
Underrrated? Hahaha that band came from nowhere like 10-15 years ago and they got a place right next to Bad Religion for many shows! They have quickly gain a slot in my top favorites bands.
this band just gives me hope and support when i need it! when i feel pissed i just listen rise againts, i look foward and i remember to always keep hope and survive, because how we survive is what makes us who we are

Lyrics: Chairs thrown and tables toppled, Hands armed with broken bottles, Standing no chance to win but, We're not runnin', we're not runnin'. There's a point I think we're missin', It's in the air we raise our fists in, In the smiles we cast each other, My sister, my brother. About the time we gave up hope and We never find these locks still open, Stumbling on stones unturned, The hurt we feel, we all have found. The lines we've crossed in search of change, but all they see is treason Although we have no obligation, to stay alive On broken backs we beg for mercy, we will survive (Break out) I won't be left here Behind closed doors. Bonfires burn like beacons, Guiding the lost and weakened. Flames dance on crashing waves, Guiding ships who've gone a stray Time out, let's stop and think this through, We've all got better things to do, A talk in circles run in place, Answers inches from my face. Although we have no obligation, to stay alive On broken backs we beg for mercy, we will survive (Break out) I won't be left here Behind closed doors. Black eyes, broken fingers, Blood drips and I let it run down my lips and to my swollen gums When hope is non-existent, Our instincts all scream, "Run", We never turn our backs or even bite our tongue. Although we have no obligation, to stay alive On broken backs we beg for mercy, we will survive (Break out) I won't be left here Behind closed doors. Although we have no obligation, to stay alive On broken backs we beg for mercy, we will survive (Break out) I won't be left here Behind closed doors.
These are my favorite kinds of music videos, just seeing them do their thing. Setting up playing shows, riding in the bus, hanging out, it grounds the guys back to the real world in the eyes of the regular guy. Goodbye Tonight by Lostprophets is another good example of this.
@@47thronin98 oh wow dude 9 years ago I posted that, but I'll bite. Funny too that I would have posted that the year he was sentenced (though I didn't find out about that until much later). Still... yes. I like music videos that showcase the band playing on tour and seeing the band interact backstage. Oh and Lostprophets' music still slaps, even if Ian is a total pos who got a heck of a prison sentence and rightfully so.
No matter how angry or how much they try to sound hard it doesnt work ... the love is TOO great ! Thanks for forfilling my life with your beautiful music!
Enrico Gusella As in not running from problems, you run towards them. Face them head on, find solutions, let NOTHING stop you. Adapt, improvise and overcome!
This track is my ALL TIME FAVORITE ANTHEM!!! Saw them live in Calgary Best concept EVER!!!, nothing but positive energy and love I love this track, i love it while driving, FAST. I have lost my voice MANY times singing(screaming) this song, I just love it!!!
Ill like one song by them and say its my favorite then find another good one, they have so many good songs. Right now I like this midnight hands and strength to go on
I also often change my favourite songs because you get to know every month new songs, at the moment i like everchanging and elective amnesia a lot. it's a bit different than their other songs :D
@@somethingidunno9991 Popular music also includes rock. Along popular music, there is also art music and folk music and this song is neither. Popular music isn't just a label given to music that is popular enough, it's a specific form of music.
the thing i love about this band is how down to earth they are, they have so much fun that all these big mainstream bands dont, they actually look like they enjoy beig a band :D RISE AGAINST
