Christian Marlow is terribly misinformed, he speaks about Chilean history as if it was all moved by internal Chilean factions, and he says that after nationalisation the efficiency and productivity dropped because of government inefficiency... This is only reproducing the myth of inefficient socialism against more efficient capitalism and private interest control. Without understanding the USA dominance on South America, practically owning all natural resources of the continent through their transnational corporations, it’s impossible to understand its history, the truck strikes was funded and coordinated by the CIA, a lot of the economic problems of Allende’s government were due to sabotage with CIA and private USA money, the coup itself was fully backed up by USA, the US war boats were parked in front of Valparaiso, there were US Navy officers taking part in the coup, US pilots too... This work is incredibly deficient and it’s bad because it’s in English, spreading inaccurate and wrong information, twisting history. I recommend you look for Noam Chomsky speaking about Chile, then you’ll get a well informed story on this.
Leonaro Ortega: I totally agree with you..As I agree that he was murdered, for the story is that he shot himself in the head twice,.. Right..He shot himself in the head once and after that he shot himself again.,.I wonder if he came back to life to shoot himself again. For once you shot yourself in the head once you are dead and unless you revive again you cannot shoot yourself twice. Specially when the experts said that both shots were fatal wounds.. Not that he injured himself with the first shot but that he killed himself with the first shot, came back to life and shoot himself again.. He was murdered!
There you go, a couple of links with real analysis of what happened in Chile, I hope Christian Marlow will learn some history and be able to overcome his severely distorted view due, I guess, to his right wing affiliation
