African Fashion is on the rise a perfect example of this Marché Noir. Amah Ayivi is the brain and heart behind Marché Noir. Before becoming the founder of his fashion brand, his life and career took many turns and twists. Until the age of twelve, he grew up in Togo, where he already started to be fascinated by local fabrics. He recalls how he wanted to choose the right cloth and have his garments tailored when he was only six years old. As a teenager, he moved to Paris with his uncle. There he discovered his love for vintage clothing. However, before making fashion his profession, he completed his studies in marketing, worked as a casting director for eleven years, and even owned an African restaurant for two years. Observing the overly fast moving fashion industry the idea of Marché Noir aroused. A brand that slows things down and workes with what's already there.
