Why aren’t they talking about how big of a challenge the Oilers are for the Stars? Oilers have 4 of the top scorers in the playoffs. They made it to the conference finals with their Skinner playing .790 hockey, and McDavid had a subpar series against Vancouver and only had points in 3 out of the 7 games in the Van series and yet Oilers still advanced. The ceiling for the Oilers is much higher than Dallas. If Skinner plays .900 goaltending and McDavid is on point, while the other player still continue to contribute as they did in the prior series, the Oilers are the more dangerous team. Plus Oilers have their core and all their superstars in their primes now. Although Dallas is more balanced and has 8 (20 goal scorers), they have NO superstars. Heiskanen would be the closest but he’s not a superstar at this point but a really good defenseman and he and Bouchard pretty Much cancel each other out. Although Dallas is deeper, the Oilers have good depth as well. The big difference here is Skinner playing consistently well and if the Oilers Superstars show up, then they are the much more dangerous team when compared to Dallas.

It's just that what you said , 4 players against a team of 20 goal scorers plus they have their number 1 goalie in net and may I also mention this now that they are playing a American team expect alot of the calls going against the oilers .
@roysams8483
@roysams8483 27 дней назад
@@rdeh1678 I think you misunderstood the impact of the 4 players and having superstars in your team vs a balanced team of above average players. The psychological impact of what Superstars can do to inspire their team has a much larger tangible and intangible impact than when an opposing team that’s balanced but lacks superstars plays well. Players on the team with superstars begin to all play at much higher level when they see their superstar leaders leading the charge. This is a well known psychological impact in the environment of wars, for example, where a talented inspiring leader can instill a belief in their army and “teammates” that causes their teammates to perform at a much higher level than they are normally capable of. And in a tight series, it is usually the superstars that determine the outcome, since they are able to influence the game in so many ways and in ways much greater than above average players, especially in high leverage moments.

Avs fans were saying the same thing after putting up 5 plus goals a game on Winnipeg. Respectfully, it doesn’t matter how many points the oilers scored in their previous series. Dallas is better than LA and Vancouver on both sides of the puck. Plus Jake Oettinger is way better than Rittich and Silovs.
@roysams8483
@roysams8483 27 дней назад
@@Joe_Ma99 fans can say anything they want, however the difference is that the only superstar on the Avs that was playing extremely well was Makar. MacKin and Rat didn’t even rank among the top scorers in the playoffs this season, so their playoff performances were far from what they achieved in the regular season. By contrast, you have all the superstars and core players (McDavid, Dai, Bouch, and Hymen, Nuge) performing at a high level throughout the playoffs. Plus the Oilers have the best PP and PK in the playoffs, which are big difference makers in odd man situations that can largely determine the outcome of games and ultimately the series. The only major variable here is goaltending. If Skinner plays .900+ hockey, then Oilers are extremely dangerous. Plus, Shilov played as well as most 1st goalies would have played despite him being a 3rd string goalie. So, you can’t use that against the Oilers. Shilov made a lot of big time saves that kept them in the series. Most people who comment have not played any level of competitive sports so they don’t have the insights on the mental, emotional and psychological side of the game. Experience allows a person to understand the intangibles of the game, which translates in ways that transcends surface level analysis.

Why do they talk about 5 old playoff series? The reporter said the last one was in 2003. There are ZERO players that were in the NHL in 2003. Its completely irrelevant data, but these useless stats are brought up all the time.

They were lucky to beat Vancouver if the canucks had their top goalie and their top goal scorer on the ice the oilers would be golfing by now . Can you imagine if the oilers had to play their minor league goalie and conor out

Injuries are part of hockey and it’s bound to happen in the playoffs. You don’t get to pick and choose who gets injured. Canucks losing Boeser and Demko suggests their depth wasn’t good enough, although Silovs outplayed Skinner by a mile. Tocchet pointed out half the team were passengers and the other half couldn’t execute or generate shots. They looked gassed by game 6 and only showed up the final 8 minutes of game 7.

Vancouver dominated Edmonton during the regular season and the Oilers were more concerned about playing Vancouver than Dallas. In the series Edmonton dominated in five of the seven games and the only reason why it went 7 is because of the phenomenal goaltending Vancouver got from Silovs. If Oettinger doesn’t play as well as Silovs then it will be a short series. Dallas scored 4 EN goals against Colorado which made the victories look more impressive than they were. Colorado was also without their top scorer the last three games which might have changed the outcome had he played.

Oilers have had one of the easiest routes to conference finals ever playing a couple of cream puffs Kings and Canucks, while the Dallas Stars have had to eliminate the two previous Stanley Cup Champions. Stars should win this easily, 5 games.

That's one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is that the stars beat a depleted lineup in both cases and they had to work hard to do it. Tje Vancouber were 1 of the best teams in the League all year and ran out of luck and ran out of gas against Edmonton. Dallas will either benefit from rest or it will hinder the first game. The Oikers won't have much rust I any. Edmonton is a faster team and as they get closer to the goal of a championship they will only bolster an already absolute lethal powerplay which wins games. Dallas Stars best not take too many liberties. If the refs let the liberties then of course that works both ways. It's gonna be a great series. I think the Oilers will come home with a split.

@brainspout3447 That's interesting you say that. Did you notice that the coach immediately retired after the series. Winnipeg is pretty good team that should have put up way more resistance. He would have been fired and he knew it. Outcoached. Look at what the coaching staff has accomplished this season immediately after they took over in Edmonton.

Not a challenge at all. Those overrated frauds barely made it past the Knights and Avs who were running injured and incomplete rosters. Oettinger is a bum against EDM, go look at his career sv% against them.

@@DubeSkins-ok2dv your goalie is an absolute BUM against EDM. Mcdrai, nuge, hyman are all gonna feast on him. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets pulled from the crease more than once. You guys are gonna fold like cheap lawn chairs against this team, having done them a HUGE favour in taking out the two teams who actually COULD have beaten them. When EDM finishes this in five, your excuses will be "well we were tired because we HAD to go thru the two last defending cup champs" Meanwhile, none of you will look towards your overrated netminder who has a sub 900 sv% against the team who took you out. I hate the soilers, so I'll gladly be here to admit I was wrong if that's the case. The numbers don't suggest it happening.
