My wife is an NHS consultant. We know she has a well-paid job, even allowing for the real-terms cuts, but her primary concern is (and always has been) pulling the drawbridge up behind them. Medical students are even more indebted than their peers, thanks to the length of the course. This is all about privatisation and, when enough doctors jump ship, we are doomed. They will be blamed, but this is on the politicians.
Well said. I am a junior doctor and I am doing a career change right now. I qualified in 2017 and I do not think that people of my generation are going to have it as good as consultants in prior years have had. In the 1990s/2000s, a newly appointed NHS consultant could comfortably sustain a family of 4. That is no longer the case anymore. Hence, the efforts required to train to become a consultant don't justify the rewards.
GP's no longer want to become partners, they just collect a salary and leave at the end of their shift due to the working conditions and pay. Across the NHS from all specialities, at all stages in training there are massive numbers of doctors and healthcare providers due to stress- that is the responsibility of this government, regardless of the damage Blaire did to general practice in the long term which always a tory talking point.
Unfortunately Conservatives and Labour have been slowly dismantling/underfunding and privatising the NHS for 20 odd years. Voting labour is not going to change anything, sorry but it's really that simple.
@@segue2ant395 Go on… state the crimes then?… Shouldn’t be too hard since you know enough to put a man behind bars. As a scientist I love to see graphs. These graphs are devastating for the Tories and say everything we need to know. I wish we had more public appreciation and these would be used in powerful political campaigning
Yep, every time a Tory government got in NHS funding was slashed. Further this time because of Cameron's decision for hard austerity measures which were supposed to result in growth.. In actual fact the US abstained from austerity and the growth happened. Interesting huh?
Those graphs should be shown by Labour and all the other parties to the tory soles. Record investment by this government? He forgets to add LOWS to his statements. They can and, should hit the energy companies with more fair tax, higher that is, not lower, and the bulls hit about directors leaving does not cut it. A bloke named david buik used to spew that years ago. Where are they all going to? It's not like in the transport industry now, there's a shortage of HGV drivers, all due to these soles and BREXIT crap they peddled.
@@Cornodebassetto I know that - I grew up under 5 years of Blair's Labour and then the other three for Brown then the real crisis hit. Austerity. Cameron thought it would improve growth. Inherently wrong.
Facts. That's the info, and graphs, they threw at us under lockdowns. They said, trust the science. Now they ignore the graph, funny that. They don't deal in facts and reality on the ground. Just making excuses for profiting of the backs of the people.
He is the first prime minister that I have witnessed in my lifetime that holds the public that he serves with such contempt. During the cost of living crisis, he never answered a single question and kept away for most of it. Now he surfaced again and the seething look on his face and defensive attitude is not what is needed during a crisis. I hope he is investigated for all the deals that he has made to benefit himself and his extended family in the near future.
As a great English man once said .. ‘Chat Sh*t, Get Banged!’ I reckon 90% of politicians could do with a right hook to bring them back into the real world
@@MT-kx2uc Trump or as a lot of people call him, the Dump 😂🤣 Same goes for Johnson. They were both a threat to national security and Sunak is just as bad.
It's music to the Tories' ears when they hear about NHS staff giving up and leaving the service. That's what they WANT, they want it to collapse so they can replace it with the American model. It's already effectively privatised, since it's mandated that most of their so-called funding just goes straight back out and into the pockets of private contractors with outsourcing. All that's really left is the principle of its being free at the point of use, and that will be the element they will concentrate on removing next. They know they've probably only got a year to finish the hatchet job, so expect efforts to be stepped up.
I often wonder why a msm programme cant just hold up the graphs in front of Sunak and the viewers and dispell any bs Tory propaganda. Would take 2 minutes.
None of them ever seem to have actual material ready beyond just questions. It's seriously infuriating, because it has allowed them to get away with so much.
There is an implicit agreement between the MSM and the government, the government keeps sending people on to their shows and in return the MSM doesn’t hold their feet to the fire. If LBC made Sunak suffer like you suggest (and he deserves) he won’t go on LBC again
@@Adamfandangogive more time to the opposition then. Tell the audience they invited the government to attend, but nobody wanted to show up If journalists did their job the government would crack pretty quickly
Sunak’s family made their money by running pharmacies. It’s not a great entrepreneurial feat. He always claims how hard they worked and how he helped out. Anyone would think he was crawling on his belly in a coal seam. It’s a captive clientele that is supported by the NHS. However how he made is massive fortune was by finding a rich woman to marry. Simple hey Rishi……..
Also made himself a pretty tidy sum during the 2008 crash working for Goldman Sachs. Enjoys getting filthy rich out of disaster & destruction does our PM. That’s nice to type. So it’s no surprise his ‘richer than royalty’ wife’s family business has close ties to the Kremlin. Where there’s disaster & destruction, there’s lots of money to be made… disaster capitalism in full effect.
How I laughed at the clapping for NHS staff. My mother worked full time as a nursing auxiliary, then healthcare assistant in the NHS for 50 years. Ask any doctor or nurse; healthcare assistants are the backbone of the NHS. My mother NEVER earned over £20k throughout her whole career and suffered abuse and racism on a nearly daily basis. Despite this she loved her job and retired in her eighties. The hypocrisy of the clapping was stomach turning.
The NHS is an organisation run by so called medical “professionals” for the benefit of so called medical “professionals” - patients are a major inconvenience.
It started out with the best of intentions, but then the press and politicians picked it up and decided that's better than paying them more. I still remember the Tories voting NOT to give them a pay rise literally in the middle of COVID. Talk about a punch to the throat. Portray them as heroes on one hand then deny them their just rewards on the other. Sickening.

Someone needs to put Sunak in a room with Dr Julia Grace Patterson, go read her new book Critical by the way, very insightful into why the NHS is struggling and why politicians have betrayed the service.

I'm still on a waiting list, been waiting since the start of april in 2021. Not to be seen until december 2025. Utter disgrace although it's been an issue ever since they got into power in 2010. Also that pay deal acceptance is another real terms pay cut. 6.5% isn't enough and it's also coming out of the budget too. The 160.4 billion budget they have up from 155.4 last year.
Well, currently the NHS budget is around 160 billion. To get such an amount of money from one percent tax, these households would have to earn 100 timer 160 billion pounds a year. That is way more than the UK yearly budget. This simple math shows that you don't know what you are talking about

I can’t wait for this governor to be ousted. They’ve done absolutely everything on the cheap. They make me sick. The even sadder thing, is the Labour Party don’t look like they’ll be much better. I’m very disappointed in the state of the country. This amazingly articulate doctor tells it like it is. However Rishi does not. They want to ruin the NHS so that it easier to privatise the services that haven’t already been.
If doctors strikes are causing waits to go up, get to the table and engage in genuine talks to address this. Or stuff your wait lists. Abject failure of leadership
I think that is one of the huge issues with all of this, the government were invited to talks long before we considered striking but it took us to go on strike for them to even have an initial meeting. They made demand, walked out and refused to negotiate again. The government are a joke
Things were actually a lot better when labour were in government... of course no surprise to me. Tories have quite litesly plummeted this country into the ground.
