I truly hope that this angel is freed from the demon that is Jay Z. She is such a sweet sweet spirit. I used to think I was the only one who had constant panic attacks. To hear somebody like Rita Ora talk about her struggles with mental health is truly inspiring. I'm trying to break into the music industry as well so hearing stories like Rita Ora is truly inspiring and lets me know I'm not alone.

Her anxiety is because of what she had to endure working with Jay -Z and then he kicked her to the curb and then he Blackballed her in the Biz and Threatened family if she talks! That's what her Panic attacks and Anxiety and mental illness stems from!!! BUT HE'S GOING DOWN TOO,. SOON!

I've been following Rita's journey. After her initial success she literally disappeared. Whenever this happens it's upsetting because I think of the talent being wasted. Once I read bits and pieces of what she went through my heart just broke for her. I'm happy for her ability to work on her terms and for the success in her personal and professional life.

I’m confused by her background. She apparently came from poverty yet she lived in ladbrok grove / Notting Hill, in a pub, her parents had degrees and were educated, and she wen to the Sylvia young theatre school. Something doesn’t add up. How can you have grown up poor yet lived in a pub in Notting Hill etc etc

Marketing, using stretched versions to build narratives, connections, social climbing abilities and other stuff let her rise and get money despite she wasted multiple times her chances in the music industry. A thing that happened thousand of times in her career, in which she blames the system for everything was around her fame, when she always wanted it and she's also a perfect user of everything is around.

I'm 58. I am listening to this entire interview, and I do feel so inspired. I just accidentally stumbled across this channel. I felt I had to subscribe because Rita has been so,,, open and honest, so strong in so many ways. Im not a pop star. However, I was able to relate to so many of the things she said about family and just wanting to be a good human. I literally took notes as you both talked. I'm working on myself, and with all the ups and downs I've had in my life, I can relate to still feeling so grateful. Thank you ( both) so much for such a compelling, open, and honest interview. Rita, thank you for sharing! As a long time sufferer from depression, anxiety, OCD and ADHD. It is encouraging to see people that are well known around the world speak up on their own personal struggles with anxiety and other high profile people speaking out about Mental Illness in their lives. For years there has been a ugly stigma associated with Mental Illness and because of this thousands of people with mental illness either did not seek help or didn't have anyone they could confide in to help encourage them to continue pursuing help or to get help. Unfortunatly many of these people didn't seek help and ended up trying to end their lives, many succeded. We still have a long ways to go in breaking down this wall of stigma and ignorance about mental illness. I have a neighbor who just this past weekend came over to my house and said point blank to my face that Mental Illness is not a physical illness, that it is caused by sin or something spiritual. I have lived with TRD(treatment resistance depression) for most of my life with little to no remission. I never gave up even though I have suffered almost 40 years in the darkness, I did have some good times, but there were more bad than good. Three weeks ago I took charge of my health and insisted that the doctor needed to do something different, the medications were not working. On my insistance he called the TMS Treatment Administrator into the room. She looked at my chart and was shocked that the doctor had not immediatly recognized that I was a prime candidit for TMS Therapy. Long story short, I am on week 3 of an intense 6 week TMS Therapy regimin and from my very first treatment, that night, my depression was gone! Some people react suddenly like I did, but others it may take weeks into the therapy to see results. Bottom line: Top priority is your health, don't worry about the stigma or the people who are just uneducated about the facts of mental illness. Pursue your health and wellbeing, put yourself first because the most important thing is you being able to live a life that you can be happy and persue all your lifes abitions. If one course of treament for whatever Mental Illness does not work for you, don't give up, continue the process of finding what will heal your mind. You deserve a good life and it is achievable.

I think she is the ultimate display of what happens when people put too much stock into you, and you don’t live up to the expectation. Rita Ora came out in 2011/2012 when Rihanna was STILL THRIVING. And there was many comparisons. I can honestly say she didn’t have a SOLID HIT on her hands but managed to still relevant on the market FOR YEARS through tabloid headlines and TV cameos. I never saw her as an artist with a driving passion for music, but more so of a socialite. But, her story is so compelling, to hear how her life changed and the ultimate pain this career caused her.

she has zero credibility as character. Zero. And I'm saying this as someone who loves so much her music, especially at start, the niche tracks and the unreleased ones (while her main music is honestly super generic). I love also her looks, hair-styles, fashion and I'm saying it seriously. I mean, she's not that ordinary classy, but she has a style my female side loves. Edgy, slutty, classy, surely a bit forced, all combined and catching eyes anyway. Sadly, she has tons of hypocrisy, victimhood, inconsistency, incoherency, stretched versions to rebrand and repair after a different concept sold before and various dramas. All these are main traits as voice, talents, beauty, looks are in her arsenal. On the other hand, she's a damn interesting concept in all her over-exposed, multi-tasking no sense full of contradictions trajectory. She sums up all the best and all the worst that can be in this society, especially the hyper-consumerist post-social media one. But in the end, what should her career teach? At the end of the day she had lost quite everything of the immense potential she always had and it happened multiple times through her journey. ORA era hadn't a follow up, then also the second label stop supporting her after Phoenix one. Do we want to talk about all the nonsense she did in between? No, I did it thousands of times and it clearly shows how everything was not industry or anxiety (LOL) fault. When she was lost in the darkness without anything around her, she hooked up with a 50 yo man who already had kids with another woman in a previous life, like it was kind of life lottery or fairytale and bla bla bla. Truth is he's a Hollywood director successful enough to rebrand her and open new horizons after 20s as blagger and industry hoe who sowed only scorched earth. On music planes, she has less impact than ever these days, despite the whole payola and all the tactics she uses wit her sister. And this should be considered a victory or something deserving stories, podcasts and so on? I call it a manifest for social climbing and giving a winning image even though you are losing. In the end she's everywhere trying to convince everybody. Evidently the first not that convinced is herself...

How can you definitively say such things about a person you don’t even know? It’s so pathetic and sad that people think they can just say whatever they want about someone and present it as fact. @@lilypiscak3296 I'm a fan of Rita's talent, voice, music, looks, performances (when she really performs, like it happened in Berlin during late 2019). You can't even imagine how much. I always listen to Love and War, Been Lying, Roc the Life, Grateful, Solid Ground, Lay Down Your Weapons, Coming Home, Falling to Pieces, Velvet Rope, Ritual, Radioactive, New Look, For You and other gems of her discography. She has immense talent and great vocals. At start of her career she was everything, prettiest girl in the world with amazing potential. I damn loved her r'n'b days. As character in all her evolution is everyday more clownesque, full of hypocrisy, extremely money oriented, constantly calling for attention since success not happening. She never managed to give her trajectory coherence and identity, while she jumped from a bed to another and tried anything to survive in an industry where she perennial acts like a victim, when in reality she's the perfect user. These days she acts like an independent artist, well she goes nowhere without a proper team giving her a foundation and the not existing charts of latest album talk. Even the type of interview here actually presents nothing specific and different than what she has always put in circle to rebrand herself through the years. And the fake tears after ten seconds say everything you need. I care zero about your opinion. I exposed facts. I told u in reality I've always been a massive fan of her. Believe me or not, currently I have her at 2012 EMA as home wall on my phone. For the exact reason, I can notice all the things that kept her away from really being the next big thing she was supposed to be and I say things for what they are.

So weird but i did the same thing when my mum had cancer, i was reading encyclopedias & goggle everything i could find out about organic super foods then getting them into my mums deits, Even shoplifting super multivitamins from Holland and Barrett & putting them in my mums shakes, Prayer helped to, my mums 5 years clear from the big c. Thank you god to listening to my prayers. I still pray now. X❤

Been trying to break out of the constant weekend cycle of drinking all the time now that I've just entered my 30s, difficult when ALL your friends love alcohol and drinking during their free time. But yeah, those nights are fun but it gets old.

I’ve recently decided to give up alcohol as it was starting to become a bit of a problem in my life. I’m a bit older though I’m in my mid 30s. A lot of people find in the early days of giving up the best way is to just distance yourself from places you usually drink. Suggest to your mates things which don’t involve alcohol, if all the want to do is drink then they ain’t your real mates anyway. If you chose to take up healthier hobbies you will make new friends anyway 100% Unfortunately drinking is such a big part of our culture but it doesn’t have to be

@@MiniMausTruckerKee Mostly these people are basicaly addicts. Though they may label themselves as fun persons, easy going, party people. They are addicts. They need the self medication alcohol offers : numbness, no boundaries, megalomania. Usually these drinking friends CANNOT stop. Unless detox. (And often they are adult children of alcohlics/addicts). Alcoholism is a cultural and a generational thing. Learned behavior. Ethanol (a chemical in alcohol) damages brain tissue. And other organs. Your selfrespect. And human relationships. Very moderate drinking.... like in most southern European countries.... ALWAYS at meal/dinner...max 1 or 2 glasses... slowly eating at long tables...socializing and laughing ....is enjoying a glass of good wine. Getting sloshed in one hour is ridiculous. IMHO. Also painful to witness. These people going to waste.

What really helped me get out of it was finding purpose, something to show up for the next day. Basically I love writing but I have a regular job and at one point I decided that I wanted to write a little bit everyday no matter what, and a bit more on the weekends. Once I started that, I realized I was sabotaging myself everytime I drank on Friday & Saturday nights because then I'd wake up feeling hangover and usually I'd end up not being able to write anything the entire day. It quickly became frustrating, like "why do I keep doing this to myself if it gets in the way of something I really want to do?" The first time I went to a friend's house and didn't drink anything felt a bit weird but the more I did it, the more I appreciated feeling fresh the whole weekend. Not sure this helps, but I'm thinking anything you look forward to could be used as motivation.

I wasn't exactly a big fan of Rita before "You only love me" came out, and it still took all these months to actually become a proper fan following and loving her for who she is. And today, listening to this interview, my bond with her changed again. I did like her music, but now I love most her message. I related to one or two songs of her, and now I relate to her ideals and values completely. I am like her. I get her so much, even though our stories are completely different. This story really opened my eyes, my perspective changed and became so much clearer and better. Thank you for this interview. Thank you Rita for opening up to us ❤️

Listening to this podcast and comparing the core theme to so many other DOAC podcasts, I can confidently predict the future. 10 years from now, there will be more anxiety, depression and stress as our technological world will solicit our attention, needs and dreams. If this is true, it means that the competitive advantage of the future is calmness, and more specifically, that success will be dictated by your ability to depart from and arrive at moments of deliberate calmness. Steven, by listening to your podcast, you at least help me arrive and depart from such moments. I think you've cracked the code by not striving to be the smartest person in the room, but instead being the calmest person in the room.

In my own journey healing C-ptsd I think the answer to the potentially devastating future that is already riddled with debilitating anxiety and abysmal failure to handle stress is emotional intelligence and resilience. I'm learning that properly managing my emotions, changing my thought patterns/loops and finding peace in being misunderstood is how I find comfort in my authentic self, which creates a peaceful and self validating inner world. Anxiety for me is poorly managed emotions and thought processes that spiral into very loud inner and outer critics which cause me to become desperate for external validation of my fears. FEAR: False Emotions Appearing Real. Unfortunately the seeking of external validation makes things worse, hence the point of learning how to be completely comfortable with being misunderstood. As long as I understand and live for my authentic self, I feel inner peace. Anxiety, stress and depression for me come from misunderstood and unaddressed emotions and perspectives. I've learned that making my mess my message by gathering emotionally mature tools is the path to becoming whole. I choose to believe humanity has time to course correct and my contribution to a better future is healing my shit so I can teach my children how to do better than I did. We all did the best we could with the information we had. Now we have a choice to do better and I've discovered doing better can possibly be lumped under one umbrella- emotional intelligence.

Amazing. I am Rita fan from the beginning. I have gone her concert in 2012 in Istanbul. I didn't stop listening to her since. Watching this makes me a bit sad and at the same time it made me happy to see that she gets professional helps. She has grown so fast in this industry. While watching this video I felt like I am watching Kylie Minogue ; she is talking about her experience in this industry - Impossible Princess Period- ; How media/label were hard on her. Rita comes from survivor family and she is smart enough to learn from her mistakes.

This was a really good interview and I love Rita’s story and how deep she is and how in touch she is with her inner world. Even though she said that she did a lot of therapy…I think that she came to a lot of these realizations on her own. BTW I’ve seen the tour of her home she did online and I love it. I’m of Serbian ethnicity and have always looked up to Rita Ora nevertheless - despite the very fact she probably wouldn’t even shake hands with me if she knew who I was, yet I choose to believe she would. The struggle, hustle and hunger for thriving she exudes, lives and elaborates on is very close to my heart and experience and I am grateful ‘our’ part of world has her as a living proof and role model everything is achievable with good work ethics without ever actually walking over bare skulls of other people. This is such an amazing story! Thank you for sharing Rita x Like i feel like id love to write you a letter in response, its so unbelievable. Good for you, you had such an unhill dtruggle but you, i cant explain it, like there is such a sunny and calm persona which i didnt expect and really inspiring because i cant explain it, you just seem such a lovely person. I worked in breast cancer services for years and one thing i noticed is women get breast cancer after a major trauma rather than genetics. Like after a partner cheats or dies and a child being ill, so fleeing the war probably did that. Most 39 yr olds havent been through that X Thats the other thing, you mum has gone through cancer but you dont let that define your life, i got ro be honest, my mum got sick 20 yrs ago and had been battling ever since but it has really impacted me, and you seem to planted and firm mentally which is really amazing because when things throw your life into chaos like that its very difficult to stay grounded. Im so glad i saw this today, you are amazing dude! Xxx

I have yet to watch an episode that I have not completely loved. Many times, I have watched knowing nothing about your guest, but I've come to realize that even then, I learn so much, whatever the topic. Most times, I learn that I WANT to know more about the guest or topic, and your ability to motivate the DESIRE to learn is a gift for which I am so grateful... Rita Ora is someone whose talent was enough - the first time I heard her sing - to create a desire for more. A lot resonates with me strangely even though my parents are African ✅My dad lived in a one bed in Earls Court when he came over ✅My dad had to retrain to become a Dr and was very stressful to see ✅Half my family grew up in Ladbroke Grove! Appreciate the content. Interesting how we are different as people but many face the same challenges. Always found Rita an amazing person and wish her future successes.
