Another great set up and also would be a great for African cichlids to. I love the concept of having tanks fore endanger or threaten species. I know there is some livebearers that that are extinct in the wild and only survive due to the pet trade. I don't have the names on hand because the books are with my parent's.
This was awesome! The thumbnail immediately captured my attention and the scape was honestly exceptional. It's really respectable that you're providing safe and comfortable homes for this threatened species and hopefully even more in the future! Would you ever consider endangered wild bettas or axolotls? Both are popular and might be a good kickstart!
I absolutely think that starting to breed endangered animals, ready to help restock the wild when the time comes, is an amazing goal for any captive breeder.
Breeding threatened or endangered animals isn't a thing to get into lightly, it's not something for an untrained novice nor is it a hobby. Frankly the mere idea of doing it as part of a hobby is terrifying. It's the kind of suggestion that puts even more pressure on a species. Tanner's willful disregard of conservation by randomly taking materials from the natural environment says everything. If you want to get involved in a conservation or breeding program, get in touch with an established program out of a university and see if they're looking for volunteer helpers. This isn't something to do at home.
@@tjmarx the reintroduction of the tequila split fin only happened because of home conservationists. To say it only should be done thru a university is wrong. Are you aware of the Goodeid Working Group, C.A.R.E.S or the ALA, or any other aquarium clubs? All these organizations encourage keeping endangered species in the home aquarium. There are many fish species that only exist in captivity because of home aquarists.

You can legit start home tours for people to see all your tanks/terrariums/... At least I would pay good money for that! one day I will try to make something like this myself!
I love how you're always interested in fish that don't have impressive coloration or body shape compared to some of the more popular fish in the hobby. You find beauty even in something as plain as those butterfly splitfins.
I love how realistic you make these scapes feel. It's truly as if you scoop a piece of nature into a tank and store it for safe keeping. I think it would be amazing to see you start doing some active conservation work as well. I think it could be an inspiration to others in the hobby and raise even more awareness to the plight of the wildlife that many of us have never even heard of that is fading out of existence everyday. I've never even heard of this species of fish, but I've already fallen in love with them. They are beautiful and they look great in the scape you've created for them. I can hardly wait to see what you come up with next!
That's a AWESOME idea of having tanks for endangered or threaten species if you could build a big indoor pond just for fish, that would be the 1 as a show case 1 of a kind pond to show people how many are endangered.
The scape and fish are perfect together! You are so gifted at making things just right. Focusing on animals loosing their home habitats is a splendid idea and will make for some very special displays! Go for it.
Es muy agradable ver que trabajes con una especie en peligro de extinción, yo soy de Mexico, y vivo en Ameca de donde viene esa especie, me da mucha felicidad ver tu trabajo con esta especie en particular.
I love watching Tanner work because you know he’s creating something for himself that he wants to add to his setup. He’s not just doing what’s expected of the hobby or RU-vid community creators. He works with what he has and what works for him in real life, not just what will look good but not hold up long term. Keep doing excellent work, Tanner!
I love the contrast this provides to a lot of your other scapes! That is such a great idea to provide refuge and happy lives to more endangered species, I'm sure we would all enjoy seeing that journey! I go to college for bio in the Appalachian mountains and my dream scape is very similar to this idea-- a replica of native flora and fauna that really showcases the natural beauty of the area. Your channel is beautiful and inspiring as always :)
I love this build. I've been thinking of starting a scape that closely mimics the livestock's habitat and this hit the spot for me. Nice work as always and I love your channel!
Another great aquascaoe Tanner! Added to that, the conservation aspect and your onto a winner. Will de looking forward to seeing the fish as they get some color.
Wow it's gorgeous Tanner I love that you used limestone it makes it so natural for them you have given me a good idea for me to use limestone for when I find Buenos Aires tetras a dedication for my mom
Nature conservation at home idea is so awesome. Thats like the evolution of "genetic pool" concept ( if not familiar termin, google it, thats pretty interesting - saving animals at least at the zoos, so that in the future there was a way to introduce them back to nature) and it would be so cool if more people would create nature conservation hot spots right at their homes (; I'm in!
I love watching you build living arts. You make it look so easy. Like this setup now. Like it was simple and easy and yet, looks like it was so complicated to put together. I love their new home. They will too.
Random idea for tanner: Use fishing lures, hooks and bobbers (you could dull the hooks with files) make it look like the lures snagged on the wood hard scape, as a fishing person basically make it look like our worst nightmare with all the snags😆
I really love the idea of creating homes for more endangered creatures as there are so many that could benefit from the incredible animal caretaker you are
When I read the video title I was hoping you got goodeids! I have ameca splendens and they’re probably my favorite fish. I had to get them at a fish auction because my local fish stores have never had them. Also, I agree that they look like bass!
I recognize Elmer's Aquarium & Pet Center. I cannot even tell you how much money I have spent there. They always have a great inventory! I get ideas when I shop there too.
Hey tanner some time back on a live stream I asked you about biotope set ups and you said you had little interest in them. I knew you would end up doing them, in my opinion it's the natural evaluation of the hobby. Great video
This is a great video and im totally supporting taking care of endangered stuff if given the opportunity cant wait to see how this starts to look in a few weeks
