@@IBandAndyFishing as I live in Southampton it's going to be a part of the Itchen River there's a great run around about a mile but it doesn't cost anything to fish there's an array of fish from your brown to rainbow trout perch and Pike can't wait..

IB a lot of fly fishers make the mistake of ignoring the water at the shoreline in order to fish the further water. It is a mistake easily rectified, cast back from the edge and cover the water before you walk in. It is always nice to fish alone and validate your skills! Good on you!

Great mending technique, the flipping of the line is so gentle you don't disturb the indicator or the dry fly. It's obvious that it's working because a lot of your takes were after a mend, so it means you must be getting longer dead drifts

well done on your catches on a new river beat ... and you worked it out yourself so thats a tick. you say you're no good with the froggy thing but you seemed to do OK to me and losing gear on a new stretch is allowed ... its called a learning curve. Go tie yourself some killer flies and the good news is it will soon be time for pike and perch again :)

Recently adopted the french leader from you guys but I just use a thick coloured mono then I attach my leader on to the think mono so no indicator and I catch tons of brownies :)

They were all stockies mate, that stretch hasn't been stocked in years, but water above puts stockies in so they must of travelled down

Awesome as always! I have a question, just curious but I have noticed from watching your recent videos that you always have your rod set up so that the first eye is pointing to the left and almost upward. Is there a reason for this? Do you find it benefits you in any way? I can't see the guides well enough to see how they are sitting but I just thought it was a bit unusual. Keep making videos!

Ieva & Andy,do you just tie your French leaders to your backing... Or do you extend the French leader with say an equal amount of mono. I've bought some Leaders off eBay at say 9 metres, seem too short, my backing to leader knot seems to snag at tip ring.... Thinking of making my own French leader.... Paul in Norwich...
