Patrick Obahiagbo, Chief of Staff to the Edo State Governor featured on Sunrise one of the Guests to discuss State of the Nation on Channels TV with Kayode Akintemi and Adesewa Josh anchoring the show.
May 29th 2023. I’m still here 😂 This man’s English should never be forgotten. His efforts to learn these grammars should never be in vain, we must listen forever!😅😂😂
This man is a legend; bombastic most of the time, but if you ever want to hear some obscure and grandiloquent words in speech, then, he is one who, unapologetically, expresses with an admirable sobriety and profundity in a manner that always leaves his interlocutors risibly amused but obfuscated. His pronunciations are mostly on a tangent, but, nevertheless, still a spectacle to watch. I, therefore, leave the transcript here for your perusal; “for this is my humble logomachy, and the logomachy that I have made without logopartia” - if you know, you know *Transcript* Let me say prestissmo, that is: “as quickly as possible,” that the political Crinkum-crankum or if you like, the political higi-haga that has enveloped the politics of Rivers State for a period of eye-on-now, has all the trappings of an odoriferous saga _cum gargantuan gaga_ . And I am maniacally bewildered that this flashpoint is of no serious concern to the commander in chief of the Federal republic of Nigeria. This is because all the flashpoints of war that has snowballed and transmogrified into bringing about a calamitous end for Nigeria always have their _terminus a quo_ , their source of origin that is, either in one state or in one region. For me, as far as I’m concerned, I can see the ship of the Nigerian state hovering around the political Bermuda triangle, and if we don’t take very urgent and responsible steps to meander the interstices of eschew-able cataracts, landmines, waterfronts, icebergs and oxbow lakes, the ship of the Nigerian state has all the capacities and possibilities of berthing in a disastrous and pestilential aqua of a _terminus ad quem_ . Let me say, let me say, that my critical history and historiography of the study of the war of attrition and belligerency in Rivers state did not commence with the Obio-Akpor [ _the largest Local Government Area in Rivers state_ ] political tendency. It commenced, strictly speaking, with the suspicion that some power centres that governor Rotimi Amaechi nurses an ambition for the vice presidency of this country Oh, it’s very crystal clear like the biblical " _teke teke mene upharsin_ " ! [ _ref: Daniel 5:8_ ] It’s audible to the deaf and visible to the blind and any case, no less a political personage than the president of the Federal republic of Nigeria, President Jonathan have been heard to have confirm that … we read that in the papers that 2015 is the _fons et origo_ of this crisis is the _fons et origo_ of the political tension and he urged political _dramatis personae_ to put their sheathes in their swords [‘… _to sheathe their swords,’ he probably meant_ ] that 2015 is still far away. But if you look at the totality of the crisis in Rivers state just now, it leaves me with just two conclusions: *1.* That 2015 is inherently laden with a political and democratic ‘ *Thalidomide* :’ stillborn, stillbirth! *2.* Whereas some social scientists, like myself, have gone to town for donkey years now saying that what we have is not a democracy but what we have is civilian rule but by recent events I’m even tempted to say no no no no no no no no, Nigeria is neither witnessing civilian rule nor is Nigeria witnessing even democracy. What we have at best is a form of government I call ‘kakistomoboplutocracy’ [ _most likely an eclectic hybrid of kakistocracy, mobocracy and plutocracy_ ] and that is bad for the nation. Is it within the Obio-Akpor context, or is it within the NGF election contest; where sixteen persons are more than nineteen persons? If we think the microscopic ceramics and cadence of thirty-six governors who are supposed to be suzerains of democratic ethics and ethos in their respective _terra firmas_ , you cannot adjudge democratic scores …
@Uju Eneh,I am maniacally bewildered to see an omalichanwaleted girl like you ,to meander into political nkparitaukasion like nke a ,and àhuru m gi na love because of nke a. See my telephone ákàrà here. 08142089629 Lawrence o
The paradox in his expression is worth noting...he distracts you with his unique way of communicating yet he manages to keep one's attention focused on his assertions...Interesting!
He speaks the sort of English dat even English people do not understand... this one na one EBORA oo.... I keep checking his words on Google and its there damn! very suitable and right words for what he is talking about presently....
I'm still watching and borrowing words to bamboozle my caucasian colleagues who are usually TRANSMOGRIFIED when I say HIGI HAGA and Crinkum Crankum LMAO
Mr Patrick Obahiagbon's situation is worse than abnormal. What is the purpose of talking when no one understands what he says? Allowing him to talk in public is a huge mistake that cannot be corrected! Any reasonable person should know where he (Mr Patrick Obahiagbon) belongs!
Fearless!!! This man is great :) Nigeria needs to publish its own dictionary. I have watched this video at least 10 times, I now completely understand him!
There wasn't a single sentence in this that I was able to understand. It's not everyday swallow the thesaurus. Sometimes throw in some colloquial terms for us commoners! Lol
It's good to see these channelsTV guys quiet, confused and lost. When they interviewed the 'Oga At The Top' guy, they were acting like some special kind of experts.
Due to the exceptional enunciation of Hon. eloquence in English command, many abdicate not to acknowledge his intelligence, apparently his WACC English result was held 3 times due to his eccentric grammatical crincum crancum. Salute Hon,
Lam Zie Hahaha, Soft Lam Zie catching feelings, is an opinion not a fact, and dear Zie life is all about perspectives and individual opinions. Don't be agitated if my opinion is paradox to yours towards Hon., get educated.
"My critical history and historiography of the study of the war of attrition and belligerency..." this man string words together without thinking about concord and agreement.
The other people there are amazing! How did they sit there with a straight face and not laugh at anything he said!? I would have needed to be carried out of there!
No matter how eloquent you are, if your audience fails to understand you, the true essence of communication remains unmet. Simple terms and English remains the true means on expression.
The sad part is that the problems we have in Sub-Saharan Africa will not go away even if he coins a million more words. This is more of drama. Not much will change after this eloquent speech.
I commend the effort of the people in that room from the people interviewing him down to the camera men. I would have busted into real laughter if i was there.
This man is not bluffing. The words he speaks are real and fall within the context of what he is trying to say. I did not get it right the first time he spoke too but yes, the words are real: 'contra bono' mores is a law term derived from latin that loosely means 'against good morals'
Except for Thalidomide! At least I know that one for sure as a pharmacist. Thalidomide isn’t a word meaning still birth, it’s the name of an experimental drug that caused phocomelia (congenital deformities or birth defects) when taken by pregnant women decades ago.
