this is the set up of my new aquascape "Riverside Iwagumi". Part 1
Here I will detail the process of building your planted tank aquascape using stones/rocks. Iwagumi refers to the setup of rocks in a natural arrangement that is pleasing to the eye, made famous by the master takashi amano.
This setup is a bit of a twist on the classic iwagumi. thanks for checking it out!
ADA 90P aquarium 48gallon low iron glass
Light: Twinstar 900SM version II
Hardscape: Hakkai stone
Substrate: ADA Power sand advanced, 2hr aquarist APT start
Soil: UNS Controsoil Black
Detail stones: river pebbles, natural gravel
Filter: Hydor 450 canister filter
Glass ware: lily pipes with skimmer

About how many pounds of stone is that?

just about 65lbs. i ordered a total of 75lb. this type of rock is really dense/heavy so you need to order a bit more to get nice large pieces.

Is the second lily pipe just connected to an air pump or how do you make the current?

canister filter connected in cabinet below. the inlet has the skimmer which goes into the canister filter and the outlet is connected to the outflow from the filter

Is it safe using styrofoam?

definitely safe. use it in most of my scapes with heavy rock to protect the glass. doesn't release anything in the water. just make sure its weighed down(soil, rock, sand etc) as it will float.

doing a dark start meaning no plants or fish until tank is cycled (2-3 weeks) but i know what you mean. thanks for looking.
