Spot on with the service issues. Also, we need more service centers. Currently I have to travel over two hundred miles to address any service concerns.

Yeah, great point! Our first service was going to have to be in Richmond, VA ... Thankfully we were able to get into the Gaithersburg SC 9 days after it opened.

I have a 2023 R1t quad motor. My biggest disappointment is the tires. My size is 275/55r/21. My tires (Perelli scorpion.) only lasted about 25,000 miles. This is common and due to a soft rubber compound. When I went to replace my tires there were no good options for the 21 inch size wheel . Perelli was the only option. I had to down size to a 20 inch wheel to have better tire options. This cost me $4200 to change wheel and tires. I now have Michelin Defender platinum 275/65/20 which have a 70,000 mile warranty. Rivian should either discontinue the 21 inch wheel and only use 20 and 22 inch wheel because 21 is an odd size with no options other than Perelli tires which don’t last.

I hear you there. This is a common complaint from Rivian owners. I am hopeful we see more options for the 21s as time goes on. The other problem with the Pirelli is they do not have any treadwear warranty on them. Not looking forward to replacing them. At current prices a tire replacement for the 21s is $2,000.

how's the center console arm rest holding up? I've got 15k miles and I can see that area is starting to show wear, particularly where the seams area around the edge. and while I agree they need to improve there service wait times, I disagree with the take on waiting to get your Rivian (if you're thinking about buying one). not all Rivians needs service all the time. id guess most don't, so there's no reason to wait because you chance of needing service is less than needing it.

Hi David! Great question its holding up well. My wife and i both constantly rest our arms there in both vehicles. I know with Tesla vehicles there were aftermarket options to cover that area and some had cushions. I think the reason why we haven't seen one for Rivian is because of how its designed. Its two doors there and they pop up in the center. That's a fair point about the service and waiting to get a Rivian. The reason why I recommend folks wait is because, while it may be unlikely for most they will need service, those that do may be turned off to the brand when they aren't able to get service in a timely manner. The folks at the service center are great but they are overwhelmed due to the limited number of service center locations. My message is more about setting expectations there than telling folks to wait...if that makes sense. For many folks having to wait multiple months for service will be a deal breaker. I am confident Rivian will improve quickly. Here in Maryland the service wait times have decreased dramatically but its still 1-2 months to get an appointment unless the vehicle is completely out of service...then they will work folks in sooner.

What cover do you have on your R1T? Is that the factory motorized cover or a 3rd party?
@ElectrifiedOutdoors

That is the lomax tri folding hard tonneau with black urethane finish. They also make other finishes and a carbon fiber version. I have been happy with it. My truck was produced after the stopped selling the notorious power tonneau covers. Rivian wanted $1,800 for their manual cover but folks had problems with that. Here is the link for the Lomax . Thanks. I ordered my R1T today and will take delivery in about 3 weeks. They could not commit to the new OEM manual cover being available and it is def a sore spot…yours actually looks better than the OEM IMO.

Couldnt you just buckle the seatblets to pevent them from hitting on the side?
@ElectrifiedOutdoors
@ElectrifiedOutdoors 4 месяца назад
You can but the problem is the truck will not go to sleep if the seatbelts are bucked. This will result in the battery draining down when you park the vehicle.

Oh gosh, don’t want to hear anything about road noise, that’s so subjective. The model Y isn’t bad at all, not sure what you’re talking about. See, subjective 🙂
