1) Dr. Jose Rizal is still, in my opinion, deserving of the title of our nation's hero today despite his relationship successes and failures. Rizal made sure that any knowledge he acquired was shared with others because he wanted the best for the Philippines and his fellow Filipinos. In the video, it was also shown that Rizal had numerous relationships with various women, but he still treated them with respect and dignity, just like he did with his mom and sisters. He became our national hero primarily as a result of his outstanding contributions to the nation and selfless acts of bravery as a pacifist. We must evaluate him as a national hero based on how he acts and cares for our country, not on his personal relationships, regardless of his relationships' triumphs or failures. Because of his love for the nation and his desire to see us ultimately gain freedom, we must never forget all of his efforts and sacrifices. 2) In my opinion, the most significant woman in Rizal's life was Leonor Rivera, his boyhood sweetheart and future wife. She was the perfect woman for a man at the time because she was bright and passionate. With their constant correspondence and devotion to her, Rizal and Rivera showed their love for one another. As a result of Rivera's encouragement of Rizal's writing and support of his academic aspirations, Rizal's first book, Noli Me Tangere, was published. Even though their relationship came to an end due to family opposition, Rivera remained a major figure in Rizal's life and may have acted as inspiration for his desire for social justice and national liberation. They have been together for years and remained devoted to one another even when they were apart. It is difficult to choose which of Rizal's numerous and intricate relationships with women would most effectively aid him in his fight for his country. 3) Yes

1. In these modern times, I think Rizal would be a respectable and still reputable person. I can imagine Rizal being invited as a motivational speaker at programs in different schools, where he shares his knowledge and experiences as a professional in a medicine field. It is also possible that he can be invited as a guest speaker for a Ted talk. Moreover, I also imagined him as an advocator for the youth. The one who posts blogs on different social media platforms that captivates a lot of people. However, he may not end up as a national hero If I were to base on the criteria. He may not be considered as a national hero, but I can see that he is still a well-known personality. He can be a great example that encourages people to be everyday heroes in their own ways. 2. Among the women who had a relationship with Rizal, I think O-Sei-San will compliment him in his mission for the country. I believe that even though O-sei-San is not Rizal's first or last love, she really loved him like no other woman. I based this on Rizal's writings on his diary. He may felt her unconditional love. With their relationship, I think O-Sei-San loved Rizal as he is. From his looks and intelligence to his perception in life. When they were spending their time with each other, I believe that they already talked about things like their own values and goals in life. Rizal's mission for the betterment of the country, I think O-Sei-san will accompany and support him all the way. Based on the readings and lectures, Rizal and O-Sei-San have the same wavelength. They loved each other as a whole, and if Rizal had no mission for the country, he already lived with her in Japan for good. 3. Yes (ACHACON, A06)

1. As a student who has studied and read about Jose Rizal's life since elementary school, I believe that despite his reputation as a womanizer, he should still be considered a national hero. This personal aspect of Dr. Rizal's life should not be viewed as a detriment to his title or a negative part of him because, as we all know, no one is perfect and no one has the ability to always meet the norm's standards. Moreover, the track record of being considered a national hero should be equated to how willing he is to give his all for the freedom of our country, which Jose Rizal actually demonstrated. Aside from that, I believe that no one has to have it all because Rizal's personal relationships are not destined to be felt and experienced so he does not settle and stops looking for reasons why he must pursue his very goals. True to these facts, Rizal was able to learn different things that made him wiser when it came to making decisions because he continued to explore and meet different women on his every journey. On the other hand, Rizal's respect for women can still serve as an inspiration to our generation because the way he valued his sisters and honored his mother is admirable. His dedication to learning medicine was solely inspired by his mother's situation, and he was able to gain so much knowledge as a result of this "inspiration". 2. Gertrude Beckett could have been the ideal person to complement Dr. Jose Rizal's mission while he was still in Europe. Given that Beckett's love was not just about feelings, but also about the support he gave Dr. Rizal while he was in London, it could be said that she possessed the kind of "support" that Rizal really needed at the time. Aside from that, Ms. Beckett's love for Rizal aided him not only in his objectives, but Gertrude's love encouraged him to step outside of his comfort zone. Rizal was then able to pursue a variety of artistic endeavors. With Gertrude, he was able to sculpt "Prometheus Bound" and "Triumph of Death over Life and Triumph of Science over Death." Even though Gertrude Beckett's feelings were not reciprocated, she went all out to provide his lover with the kind of motivation he needed at the time. And, in my opinion, if the young and daring Pepe married this woman at the time, they would be regarded as a ideal couple, because Gertrude is the type of woman who knows how to provide comfort and service to her partner, which Dr. Rizal truly needs at the time. Given their chaotic situation, Gertrude remained motionless and hoped for the love that Pepe could give her, demonstrating how she fits the "woman" that Jose Rizal requires to complete his mission. 3. 1) Yes, I believe that Rizal can still be considered a national hero. Jose Rizal was an intellectual person because the records and works that he left behind would say so. He was professionally a doctor, and he as well as a poet, novelist, painter, and sculptor, was excellent in chess and sports, and a polyglot. He was so gifted that it sounds too good to be true for a Filipino of his time. For me, Rizal’s influence on us is to live at your best potential and offer that potential for the good of many. He also inspires Filipinos to be brave and courageous despite their size or color. He inspires fortunate Filipinos to use their resources wisely and not for vanity, knowing he was from a wealthy family. Overall being called the national hero is worth it and that is why Rizal can still be our national hero today. 2) Among the women Rizal had relationships with, I think Josephine Bracken would compliment him on his mission for his country. Of all of Rizal's women who had he had been in a relationship with, I think Josephine Bracken was the one who could understand Dr. Jose Rizal more. I feel that if there is any chance that they can get married they would make a great couple, though they are not married due to Josephine Bracken's responsibility to the blind Taufer they had a child. Josephine Bracken for me is the most "wife material" I could tell that because they really understood each other well on their issues in life. 3) Yes. Soriano, A06

1. Yes, Rizal would still be recognized as a national hero if he lived today, considering his track history and the hits and misses in his relationships. Our freedom was fought for by Rizal. Rizal opposed through his writings, which educated many Filipinos. And, as an educator, he applied his mind to it and what he learned. Thus, historically, he must be recognized as a national hero of our generation, in my opinion. For me, Rizal's legacy to us is to live to our full potential and to share that potential with others. He also pushes Filipinos to be strong and fearless, regardless of their size or ethnicity. Knowing that he comes from a wealthy background, he encourages privileged Filipinos to use their resources properly and not for vanity. Overall, he is deserving of the title of national hero. Rizal did something extremely difficult; he sacrificed himself. He gave up his life. And now we are living our lives in a way that he has never known. 2. I believe Josephine Bracken would be the one to complement Rizal in his quest for his country among the eight women with whom he had romantic relationships. She was a dedicated wife, a caring housewife, a nice friend, and Rizal's mate. Rizal had a genuine affection for Josephine Bracken, aside from being his last love. Through other relationships, he was only married once to Josephine Bracken, who after a long relationship gave birth to their child. She would undoubtedly be proud of Rizal and his mission for his country. Even though their marriage application was denied, she was everything to him. She was the one who gave him fresh life, meaning, and purpose. She was a dedicated wife, a caring housewife, a nice company, and Rizal's soulmate. When she gave birth to a son, she thought their relationship was complete, but she was heartbroken when their firstborn died. Despite the setback, she remained his loyal partner, whose sole desire was to serve, love, and be loved unconditionally. 3. Yes (Marcelo,A01)

1.) I believe that Rizal would still be honored as a national hero if he were alive in this day and age, despite the fact that his romantic life was not without its share of highs and lows. Given the fact that he will be aware of his past, I continue to have faith that Dr. Jose Rizal will always stand up for what is just and fight for it. The moral and character standards he upheld would not change. It is important for us to remember that he is still just a regular human being and that he is vulnerable just like us. The fact that Dr. Jose Rizal was able to inspire the Filipino people to once recognize their rights and reclaim their home, the Philippines, without the use of any lethal weapons is still a remarkable thing that would still qualify him as a hero, despite the fact that he was not perfect and had many flaws in him. 2.) Leonor Rivera, I believe, is the woman who would best complement Rizal in his mission for the country. People said that Rivera was the biggest reason why Rizal didn't fall in love with other women while he was traveling outside of the Philippines. Regarding her relationship with Jose Rizal, Leonor held a faithful stand throughout their entire time together. She was faithful to her lover, just as Dr. Jose Rizal did his best to remain faithful to Leonor. Dr. Jose Rizal was indeed loyal to one thing, and that is the Philippine. There was never any doubt regarding Dr. Jose Rizal's patriotism. Both Leonor and Dr. Jose Rizal exhibited courage and strength and remained true in their commitment to doing what they felt was right and following their hearts. Leonor until her last breath stood firm and followed her rules before getting married to another man and I think that she never forgot about the man she absolutely adores, even though she and Jose Rizal did not end up together. Just as Dr. Jose Rizal fought until his last breath for the country. In many ways, I believe they complement each other and Dr. Jose Rizal's vision for the Philippines. 3.) Yes (MORFE,A01)

1. With the trend of the young generations in love-fling relationships and how it was being normalized nowadays it is not impossible that Rizal would still be our national hero. Given his contribution on the country's independence, the trend of being national hero is not the choice of the masses but would highly depend on the criteria of the most appropriate ones. With the advent of technology and social media any relationships that would Rizal may build may be known for the masses and may eventually judged him on what he is as a person. The love for the country is not something to be compared on any people personal relationships. If you would think you don't gain anything from loving the country, but to fight for the people's right is something that stretched too far beyond from our playful heart; a love that is unconditional, a love that is unreciprocated. 2. I am totally impressed on how Rizal's last love Josephine Bracken even followed him to Dapitan just because that she loved her. It may be normal for some to answer that Leonor Rivera or Josephine Bracken is the one that would complement him in his mission for his country. But I also experienced the love given but unreciprocated and I know how Gertrude Beckett would support him on his patriotism given how love can make her blind by being partner in crime. Though, Rizal doesn't even reciprocate the love given to him it the act of service as a love language of Ms. Gertrude is one of the selfless form of love to me. 3. Yes (SALUNDAGA, A01)

1. Knowing the political and social climate today, I think that, knowing Rizal’s track records, life stories, and involvements, he would still be considered a national hero. Being a hero doesn’t mean you need to be perfect all of the time, a true hero makes mistakes, but also learns from them. Taking into consideration how people react towards famous people having their issues and problems publicized, I’d say that most people would still consider Dr. Jose Rizal as a national hero because what he had done well in our country outweighs all of the bad things he had committed. But of course, it is still a matter of intensity, people need to understand that, he too is a human that gets tempted and has emotions, it is not like he had done something innately unhuman, he just let his emotions take a hold of himself and how, unlike the others, the bad things that they have done outweighs all of the “good” that they have done. 2. Out of all the women Rizal had a relationship with, I think that the woman that would fit and compliment him in his mission for our country would be Leonor Rivera. Based on the recent discussion we have seen how dedicat6e she can be, despite being in a ‘long-distance’ relationship with Rizal she remains devoted to him, if it wasn’t for her mother’s divisive plans, they would be a great couple and we can say that she would be supportive of him throughout his mission. We all know that they are second cousins, and in this day and age that may be a huge factor, and is also considered a taboo, but it was a different time back then, still, it does not justify the thought of committing a taboo, it's just that based from the recent discussion, she would be the best complement and companion for Rizal throughout his mission. 3. 1. If Dr. Jose Rizal still lived at our time, knowing the track record and relationship ups and downs of his life, I believe he would still be recognized as a national hero. As a student who were still in process of understanding the life and works of Dr. Jose Rizal, even though i still have not enough read and seen all of the books and documents about him, I believe that Dr. Jose Rizal would still be recognized as the national hero of our country despite that he had committed such acts in his past relationships in his time. On the progress of seeking knowledge, information, and learning about the life and works of Dr. Jose Rizal. Those stories of him of being a lover is only a chapter of a book about his life. This scenarios in his life is also much fewer than all of the patriotic acts he have done to contribute for the attainment of independence in our country. Which is much more valuable than his track record of relationships. 2.Among the women who had relationships with Dr. Jose Rizal, the woman who i have thought would complement provide benefit for him in his mission for his country, is no other than Josephine Bracken. When the eighteen-year-old Josephine, arrived in the life of Dr. Jose Rizal. The infatuated hero was struck and could not hide his admiration of the slender, brown hair woman with blue eyes, dressed in elegant simplicity with light splendid atmosphere. Josephine bracken was his last love. Among of all the women he had relationships to, they are the only couple who decided to live in together. They lived together as husband and wife in an octagonal bamboo house that Josephine turned into a love nest. She had stocked the pantry, cooking, washing, and finding food when supplies ran low. Josephine had developed a much more mature and intimate relationship with Dr. Jose Rizal and this intimate feeling had complemented them. As this love had grown truly even after the death of her beloved Jose Rizal. It is said that she had devoted his life for Dr. Jose Rizal and had joined the revolution to fight with the Filipinos for the independence of the country. She had contributed by being a medic which cured and helped several filipino soldiers and eliminate a spanish officer with his own rifle. 3. Yes Peralta, A01

1. In my opinion, Even if learning about the past of Jose Rizal's relationships, he can still be considered a National Hero. Maybe many people would judge him because of how he is when it comes to relationships, but as we know he became a national hero because of his amazing knowledge and how talented he is. Even if he is a National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal is still a normal human. As we all know he experienced a lot of things that any kind of person can experience too. And we all know a lot of people that are like him in Relationships. But we must not forget how Dr. Jose Rizal loved his country, and we must remember all of his efforts and sacrifices because of his love for the country to finally achieve our independence. 2. I think the person who would complement him in his mission was his Last Love, Josephine Bracken. Josephine Bracken was the ''wife'' of Jose Rizal. I learned that Josephine Bracken has involved in the Revolution, She joined the KKK after Rizal's execution and fought battles in Cavite under Emilio Aguinaldo, and was able to kill a Spanish officer. She was able to take part in the revolution which is Rizal's mission for his country and that is why I think Josephine Bracken, his wife is the one who would complement his mission. 3. For me as a student I would still consider Jose Rizal as a National Hero knowing his track records in his relationship. To that records that I found out, I see Jose Rizal as an ordinary boy that who fall in love in different girls like others. Nothing bad to fall in love in different girls, I think Rizal was exploring his self. Even Jose Rizal misses in his relationship, he was neglected to the nationalism he didn't forgot his goal to help and love the country and that's the important. Although his record in his relationship is different but in his family is very genuine and pure love. I would still respect Jose Rizal how he treated his sister and mother is still the best. Never judge a person how they are in relationship. Not even the boy is "babaero" they are bad person. For me Rizal is still our national hero. I think Leonor Rivera would complement him in his mission for his country. Why Leonora Rivera? In Jose Rizal Novel in Noli Me Tangere Leonora Rivera was Maria Clara in that novel. We all known that novel is one of Rizal step in liberalism. To his love in Leonora he include her in his novel. Hits different the true love. His love in Leonora had a big impact to his mission for his country. I think if the mother of Leonora like Jose Rizal for her daughter, I think Jose Rizal will be faithful to Leonora like how Leonora become faithful to Rizal even though Jose Rizal was studying in Europe. 1. Despite Dr. Jose Rizal’s numerous, messy relationships, I think, he would still be considered a national hero, if he were to live at present. He did a lot for the country, and I think he still deserves to be called a national hero despite the mishaps he made in his relationships. Only a few are brave enough to defend their own country and willing to shed light on the injustices of the higher-ups or the government. Like us, Rizal is a normal person who made mistakes. I also think Rizal will change and appease for the mistakes he made if he were living today since now I believe we are more open-minded and willing to correct the wrong. We are more aware that we can change. I think we could forgive Rizal for the mistakes he made, only if he would own up to these. Rizal still showed that he has respect for women based on his treatment of his sisters and mother. He just can’t settle for one. We can’t ignore the huge contribution he made to the country. 2. Among the women with who Rizal had a relationship with, I think Leonor Rivera was the one who complement him the most considering she is Rizal’s one true love. I, as a hopeless romantic, believe that he deserves to be with someone who he truly loves. But the only issue I have with their relationship is them being second cousins, relatives. The reason why I don’t think O-Sei San is someone who would complement Rizal with his mission is because if he ended with her, he would most likely stay in Japan and he wouldn’t be able to openly defend his country. The difference between her and Leonor Rivera is that Leonor lives in the Philippines making her more suitable. If not Leonor Rivera, I’d consider Nelly Boustead as a match. Since I think Rizal truly cared for her and was willing to let her father know his intentions. In conclusion, I don’t think Rizal's women will affect his mission for his country except for O-Sei San. 3. Yes. Santos (A07)

1) Even though his track record and hits and misses in his relationships, I think that he would still be considered a national hero because being a failure in the relationship is not measurable of being a national hero because Jose Rizal is A hero who symbolizes goodness. Rizal gave us freedom through excellence. Jose Rizal became a national hero of the Philippines because he fought for freedom quietly but effectively. Rather than employing force or antagonism, he used his writings, essays, and articles to express his love for the Philippines. He was a wonderful man at the time. He preferred to be humble. Fight for improvements via his works rather than revolution. Instead of being confrontational, he used his brains, abilities, and skills more peacefully. Rizal is an American-backed hero who advocated for nonviolent government reform. Instead, he utilized his works to help Filipinos see things differently. Without hesitation, he committed his life to his compatriots. He was known for his calm and mild demeanor, yet he had never fought in a battle. The majority of global heroes rose to prominence due to their battle accomplishments. Rizal never did it. He was criticizing the Spanish government's Philippines management with his pen. 2) Josephine Bracken is one of the women who had relationships with Rizal that would help him in his mission for the country. While in Dapitan in late February 1895, Rizal met an 18-year-old Irish girl. Josephine Bracken was a cheerful character with blue eyes and brown hair. She was the adoptive daughter of George Taufer, a Hong Kong man who came to Rizal for medical care. Rizal was reported to be physically drawn to her, but his loneliness had taken over, and it was preferable to fall in love again. Josephine was deemed a "threat to Rizal's security" by the Rizal sisters, who believed she was a spy for the friars. Rizal eventually proposed to Josephine, but she was not ready to make such a significant decision because she still had to care for her blind father. Unfortunately, George Taufer's illness was not treatable, so he returned to Hong Kong while Josephine remained in Manila with Rizal's family. Rizal attempted to arrange their marriage with Father Antonio Obach when she returned to Dapitan. On the other hand, the priest required a retraction before marrying them. Rizal married Josephine over the Church's objections, at the insistence of his family and with her agreement. She went on to have a stillborn child, which was thought to be the consequence of some incident, and this might have traumatized her. 3) Yes OLAES, A07

1. Whether Rizal lives in the present or in the past, his achievements would be a great tool in recognizing him as one of our national heroes. While there are no official proclamations or executive orders that proclaim a Filipino historical figure as a national hero, Rizal showed heroness with a concept of nation and thereafter aspired and struggled for the country’s freedom. Regardless of his failed relationships, his work, and legacy could not be bothered. 2. For me, it was Josephine Bracken, when Rizal was an exile, deprived of many liberties and conveniences. His future was uncertain. Josephine was there. She was kind, loving and served Rizal hand and foot. Rizal wrote in his journal that she had fulfilled his needs more than any Filipina girl could ever give him. Which we could say was that she was one of Rizal's inspirations during his mission to the country. 3. Yes (Tagalog, A01)

1. Dr. Jose Rizal is still a person, like the one stated in the video. He is not perfect like us and can still make mistakes even in his love life. Rizal made terrible decisions that made him known as a cheater or a person who could not keep his hands to himself. However, even though he lived in the present or before, it does not change his ambitions for this country. His goal in helping the Philippines, his sacrifices, and his creation that enlightened the Filipinos to embrace their humanity made him our national hero. Rizal just proved to us that we could also be like him. Even if we are sinful and make terrible mistakes, we can become Rizal, who can love this country wholeheartedly, is brave enough to fight for what is right and just, and is willing to prove that Filipinos are worthy of freedom. Dr. Jose Rizal is still an inspiration, and if he is living today, we have the right to judge him all we want because of his unpleasant image towards the ladies, but we cannot change or neglect the achievements that made him our national hero. 2. Among the woman that Rizal has been with, the one who complements him the most through his mission for the Philippines was Josephine Bracken. In my opinion, Josephine is ambitious and brave and believes in her values and consent. She is feisty to travel to Dapitan to seek medical assistance for his father, which Rizal could also do if he were in her position. They are both passionate and caring for their loved ones and their beliefs and aspiration. Hence, making Josephine a perfect match with Rizal. They can be each other's assets and help each other out because Josephine Bracken's characteristics and personality are so fulfilling that she can influence Dr. Jose Rizal and inspire him to continue his passion and goals for this country. She is a woman with pure dedication and respects hard work. This woman is remarkable and truly admirable, which complements Rizal's intention for the Philippines. 3. Yes. Bañocia (A06)

1. In my opinion, I believe he would still be labeled a national hero because being a national hero is not based on your relationships. It is based on those who have a concept of nation and thereafter aspire and struggle for the nation's freedom, those who define and contribute to a system or life of freedom and order for a nation. A hero represents goodness. Despite having several partners, Rizal used kindness to give us freedom. Jose Rizal became a national hero in the Philippines because he battled for independence in a quiet but effective manner. Instead of using force or hostility, he conveyed his love for the Philippines throughout his novels, writings, and articles. He was a very remarkable individual in his day. He was modest, preferring to fight for improvements through his words rather than a revolution. Instead of being confrontational, he used his brains, abilities, and skills in a very calm manner. 2. Rizal's hidden mission turned out to be to examine the lifestyles, cultures, laws, and governments of European countries in preparation for liberating the Philippines from Spain's despotic control. He was the one who inspired Filipinos to launch a revolt against the Spanish government in order to win the independence and sovereignty of the nation. Among the women who had relationships with Rizal, I think Josephine Bracken complement him in his mission. After the revolution, Josephine requested Rizal's mortal remains, but the Spaniards refused. On January 6, 1897, she vowed to revenge for his death by joining Gen Emilio Aguinaldo's revolutionary organization. She once led a charge on the Spaniards, killing one of them with her own gun. 3. 1) Even though we know Dr. Rizal's track record, hits and misses in his past relationships, I don't think that it would be a reason for us to not to consider him as our national hero. Though he had hurt a lot of women, we still know that he treated them well. He gave them a poem or other things like what men do when he courts a woman. We also know how Dr. Rizal cared for his mother and sisters. We consider a person as our national hero not because he had a perfect life but on how he fought or contribute for the independence of our country. We considered Dr. Rizal as our national hero because of his love for our country. He enlightened the minds of every Filipino and inspired them to fight for our country and for our fellow Filipinos. We must look at Dr. Rizal not based on how good he lived, but on how he contributed to set us free. 2) In my perspective, all of the women who had relationships with Dr. Rizal complement him on his mission for our country. He had relationships with eight Filipinos and ten foreigners who had different cultures and traditions. When Dr. Rizal met them or had a relationship with them, I think it somehow helped him to change his views or perspective on what is really happening in different countries especially in our country that had been abused by the powers of the Spaniards. By travelling and meeting a lot of people he saw and realized the things he needed to do and how he would help his country and his fellow Filipinos to become free from the abusive power of the Spanish government. 3) Yes. 1) I think Rizal would still be considered as our national hero in our country, Philippines, regardless of his background on romantic relationships. Though, we cannot hide the fact that this story of him would be the topic of many discussions that may lead to debates as many people would probably show their dismay towards Dr. Jose Rizal as people will know what he has done to many women and what would happen if he had a long life. In my perspective, as a Philippine citizen, I would still consider Dr. Jose Rizal be known and recognized as our Philippine national hero. The acts that Jose Rizal made leaving heartbreak of numerous women could not be tolerated. However, we must be aware that he is a man in a mission for our country. He was studying the life and cultures of different European countries and concurrently forming social and patriotic organizations to inspire and open the minds of our Filipino people that independence can be feasibly taken without bloodshed. We should also remember that every person is not perfect to become a great inspiration lifting its countrymen’s hope to end the Spanish regime, which is what Rizal have done. 2) Among the women Rizal had a relationship with, I think Nelly Boustead, who considered herself as a Filipina as she was an offspring of a Filipino-British and a Filipina, would be the woman who will complement our national hero, Dr. Jose Rizal, in his mission for his country, Philippines. The difference in religion became the most significant reason why Dr. Jose Rizal and Nelly Boustead did not end up for each other. The other reasons why Rizal and Nelly did not get married are the refusal of Rizal to be converted to Protestant faith; and the disapproval of Nelly’s mother to Dr. Jose Rizal due to the fact that he was not earning a huge income which would make a stable financial support for the sake of Nelly Boustead and their future. I do believe that Ms. Nelly Boustead will be the one who can complement Dr. Jose Rizal as they had a very serious relationship based on the video lecture. If they pushed their relationship and shifted it into a live-in relationship, I think Nelly Boustead can help Rizal on his mission though I am not sure if they will be together for years due to the condition of Rizal. 3) Yes.

1. Yes, I would still consider Dr Jose Rizal a national hero despite knowing his hits and misses and relationships, because I believe that no one should be judged based on their past, mistakes or unpleasant doings as long as they abide by the law. I think doing something wrong or committing mistakes is part of trying and I always tell other people that when someone you love does something that hurts you, whether unintended or on purpose does not change the memories that he or she left you. Happy memories will still be happy memories, So i would like to apply that same principle to anything, whatever mistake or unpleasant past Dr. Jose Rizal has not changed whatever he did for this country. We have to remember that no one is perfect and if we invalidate someone for any mistake they made in the past then we should not recognize anyone for anything. 2. If i am going to guess on who among Dr. Jose Rizal’s lover would compliment him on his mission for this country, I would have to go with Gertrude Beckette. I picked her simply because as mentioned in our discussion he was an assistant of Dr. Jose Rizal any she gave Dr. Jose Rizal unsolicited extra attention because she was head over hills on Dr. Jose Rizal and I just think that when someone is in love, especially when the one you love is working on something he or she is very passionate about you can do nothing but to be supportive. Besides Gertrude and Dr. Jose Rizal already worked together so more than the romantic relationship they are already used to working with each other. Though I am not sure if there would be any conflict of interest because Gertrude is not a filipino. But even so i would have to go with her. 3. Yes. Marucot A01

1. Knowing Rizal’s achievements and contributions to our country’s quest for Independence from the Spanish colonial government, if Rizal was alive today, I believe he would still be considered a national hero despite his hits and misses in his relationships. Rizal’s contribution to the freedom we have today is undoubtedly significant. Through his works, particularly "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo", Filipinos were motivated to stand up and unite to start a revolution against the Spaniards. His pacifist approach would also be one of the biggest factors on why he would still be considered a national hero because people now are more inclined to a peaceful way of expressing their opinions and stances. I think Rizal would be able to maximize the use of the Internet to share his works and ideas with us. Therefore, despite his hits and misses in his relationships, he would still be considered a national hero because of his devotion and love for our country that made it possible for us to call ourselves, Filipino. 2. I think among the women Rizal had a relationship with, Josephine Bracken would complement him the most in his mission for his country. Rizal and Bracken almost got married, however, a priest hindered them from doing so, unless Rizal would retract his works that exposes the church’s injustices. Despite not being married, Bracken stayed with Rizal and had a live-in relationship - she didn’t leave Rizal till his death. Furthermore, in module 1, it was discussed there that after Rizal’s death, Bracken joined the KKK and fought in the battles in Cavite under Emilio Aguinaldo; she was able to kill a Spanish officer. Even though Bracken is not a Filipino, she joined in our quest for freedom. So, among the women Rizal had a relationship with, Bracken had certainly complemented Rizal the most in his mission; she stood by his side and supported Rizal in his pursuit of a Liberated Philippines. 3. 1. Dr. Jose Rizal wasn’t recognized as our national hero just because he was a faithful other half of his past relationships but rather because of what he has done to our country in order to attain freedom. Thus, I do believe that if he lived during our generation he would still be considered as our national hero because of his passion and love towards our country. Likewise, if heroes are being criticized because of their actions towards other aspects don’t you think anyone would be qualified as one? What I’m saying is, people aren’t perfect so as Jose Rizal, he commits mistakes just like us but it doesn’t mean I commend him for doing that, what’s wrong is wrong however being a national hero requires a different qualification and it is what you have done for your country, what you contribute, and what are you willing to sacrifice including your life, and Dr. Jose Rizal accomplished all of that which make him deserve to be our national hero. Furthermore, people should practice on appreciating the goods in people and not the bad, because it will just spread negatively to our surroundings. 2. I do think that Leonor Rivera would be the one of who will complement Dr. Jose Rizal towards his mission for our country for she was considered as the true love of our national hero. As all we know, true love is one of the hardest things to find in this world since it requires pure love, care, and acceptance of all the flaws of your other half which makes me believe that Leonor Rivera would be the perfect one to show how proud he is toward his lover Jose Rizal. They have been in an 11th year relationship which shows how they understand each other. On the other hand, as mentioned in the video when Leonor Rivera was about to get married she wishes some conditions which includes she will wear black all the days of her life which I conclude means sorrow, for she was married to the man he doesn’t love. Thus, if she and Dr. Jose Rizal ended up being together, I do think she would be the best women who can stand beside him, being in love as well as proud. 3. YES - EMPERADOR (A07)

1.) If Rizal were to live at the present, he would still be qualified to be considered as our national hero for me. The mistakes that Rizal have made in his life only proves that he is still a normal person who normally made mistakes in his life. The important thing that must be considered in choosing our national hero are the sacrifices and the efforts that he made in order to gain our country's freedom. The works and the novels that Rizal made which open the minds of every Filipino in that time is the most important thing that Rizal has contributed in achieving our freedom. His works made a spark in the start of the Philippine Revolution. He let the his countrymen know that there is still hope for independence. 2.) Among the women that came in Rizal's life, Leonor Rivera is the one who would complement him in his mission for his country. Leonor have shown a true love for Rizal. She remained loyal even if Rizal travels other countries for the sake of his secret mission. She had patiently waited for the letters and the return of Rizal even if it is difficult for her. Leonor's action and loyalty shows her support on the works of Rizal. The only problem is that her mother won't let the letters of Rizal reach her which caused a problem in their relationship. But with all the love that they both have for each other, I think that Leonor Rivera was the one who has been very proud about the sacrifices that Rizal made for his country. (Dela Cruz, A01)

1) In my opinion, I would still consider him as a national hero. Despite his messy track record when it come to relationships, He did not let this affect his love for his country. His Love for the country is far more stronger than anything else in the world. Seeing what he had done and accomplished to serve his country outweighs his problematic aspects of his personal matters such as his love life. He separates how he treats his lovers and how he treats his ultimate lover which is his country. Also, when you you come to think about it, He is just like us, a guy just longing to give love and be loved but, due to the given circumstances he was not freely able to do so. Given this day and age, he might be cancelled easily in social media when one of his lovers speak up against him but, this does not erase the fact that he was a hero for his country. 2) In all the flings and relationships Rizal went through, not one of them were directly involved in his cause. They were all drawn to his charisma and smoothness and gentleman-like gestures. But if there's one of them that somehow contributed by supporting him in his errands and endeavors, it would be Gertrude Beckette. She was kind of considered as his Partner in Crime. She willingly provides assistance to whatever Rizal was doing. It was not just normal assistance. It was like I'm-assisting-you-because-I-want-you-to-fall-in-love-with-me type of Assistance. Though its hard not to resist the urge to love her service, not a drop of feeling was felt by Rizal for her. Even though the situation transpired like this, Her assistance was not of waste because she helped in sculpting some of Rizal's Obra Maestras like the "Prometheus Bound, the "Triumph of Death over Life", and the "Triumph of Science over Death". 3) Yes, I did. 1. Even with his track record, Jose Rizal will be considered our national hero, in my opinion, because a failure in relationships doesn't really reflect everything that he brings to the country. Heroes are people who have a sense of nation and then aspire to and fight for the nation's liberation. Heroes are people who establish and contribute to a free system or way of life and those who fight for the nation's freedom. As we have shown in previous lectures, even though Rizal had multiple relationships, he still gave his best for our country, and his mission was not affected by his love life. Everyone makes mistakes; however, that doesn't mean they have to live with the consequences for the rest of their lives. Nobody learns anything unless they make mistakes. The better a man becomes more the missteps he will make as he tries new things. Great people make mistakes, but that doesn't mean they can't be national heroes. However, this implies that they are also human. 2. I Think Leonor Rivera would be the perfect complement for Jose Rizal in doing his mission for the country because she is his true love. They had been sweethearts for 11 years and Leonor Rivera had been loyal to Jose Rizal for the rest of her life. Knowing their love story is a perfect example of a drama the parents are opposed to the relationship of their daughter thinking that it will not lead to anything good for her and the family and marry her to the other guy that they think whose better for the family. As a result forced marriage doesn’t make a good future Leonor becomes miserable for the rest of his life. Leonor agreed to marry a man that she doesn’t love at all because she thinks Jose Rizal has totally forgotten her but the truth is her parents make things to stop all their communication. Their love story is an example of people who meant to fall in love with each other but are not meant to be together. 3. Yes VINZON, A06

1) If Jose Rizal were to live at present, I think he would still be considered as a national hero. Nowadays, the society had evolved in such a way that most of the people are aware of the social issues present. Jose Rizal’s track record of hits and misses in his relationships would definitely stir up arguments in the society. A side would argue that a national hero should not have done the following misconducts while the other would argue that Jose Rizal is also human who makes mistakes. There would be a lot of disagreements within the country. However, no matter how much arguments are laid down, the qualification of a national hero remains constant. Whenever the era may be, the qualifications for a national hero might not change. A national hero is a person who inspires nationalism and patriotism, has love for their country, and contributed to the country’s freedom and order. 2) Among the eighteen women Jose Rizal encountered, he met some remarkable ones. Among these women who had relationships with Jose Rizal, I think Josephine Bracken would complement him well in his mission for the attainment of freedom of the Philippines. Although Josephine Bracken seemed skeptical at first due to the fact that she could be a spy of the friars, she had the same dedication as Jose Rizal when it comes to curing the illness and taking care of their guardians. Both Jose Rizal and Josephine Bracken might have shared the same determination towards their goals. As compared to the other women Jose Rizal were involved in, most of them does not share the same sentiment as Jose Rizal. For example, Gertrude Beckette showed signs of obsession towards Jose Rizal even though he was not able to reciprocate the love she was giving. Leonor Valenzuela did not care much when Rizal left the country and proceeded with her own life. 3) Yes TORRES (A01)

1. If Jose Rizal were to live at present, knowing his track record, hits and misses in his relationships, I still think that Jose Rizal should be considered as our national hero. Just like everyone else, Jose Rizal is also a human being that makes mistakes. And also discussed in the video, even though he is a womanizer, Jose Rizal loved his mother and sisters, he treated them with good care. He is also kind and loving to his lovers, he just couldn't be contented in loving just one. Despite his flaws, he was the only was that had the talent to fight against the Spanish Colonization without shedding bloodshed. He may have a lot of issues in relationships and hurt numerous women, he still is the one who sparked the revolution using his masterpieces, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. That is why I still think that he should be considered as our national hero. 2. Among the women who had relationships with Rizal, I think Leonora Rivera would complement him in his mission for his country. As discussed in the video, they were loyal to each other for eleven years, even they are on a long distance relationship. However, Leonora's mother dislikes Rizal for multiple reason, she did not let Jose Rizal's letters reach Leonora, that's why Leonora thought that Rizal has already forgotten about her. She then got married to another man without knowing that Rizal still loves her. Leonora Rivera was Maria Clara in Jose Rizal's novel, Noli Me Tangere. We all know that it was one of Jose Rizal's work that sparked the revolution. He loved her so much that he included her in his novel, his love for her made a big impact for our country. If Leonora's mother did not interfere with their relationship, they would have ended up together. 3. Yes Visco A18

1. If Rizal was to live during the present times, I personally think that he would still be considered as our national hero. This is because he fought for our freedom from the colonizers and he was the only one who did not fully engage and believe that armed conflict was the only solution to end the tyranny. He resorted to writing in order to encourage our fellow Filipinos to fight for our freedom even if it will cost our lives. Also, he could be considered as our role model because he had shown respect and love for his family, studied well despite of the challenges around him, continually found ways to widen his knowledge and perspective of the world and of life, and most importantly, he embodied the values that his mother taught him when he was a child. Just like the messages found within the short video, Rizal’s mistakes do not fully define who he is as a person because he is just like all of us, normal people who commits mistakes and in turn, learns from them. 2. Among the women who had relationships with Rizal, I think that Leonor Rivera and Josephine Bracken would complement him in his mission for the country. First, Leonor Rivera was Rizal’s second cousin and was widely considered as his love interest who prevented him from falling in love with other women while he was travelling abroad. She was also the inspiration and commemorated as Maria Clara in Noli me Tangere. Her whole love story with Rizal was portrayed through the novel with the use of symbolism. She loved Rizal despite the fact that she was forced into an arranged marriage with an English engineer named Henry Kipping. Second, Josephine Bracken played an active part and joined the revolutionary forces in Cavite after Rizal’s death. She took care of the wounded soldiers, refilled gunpowder for the rifles, and learned marksmanship. She was also present during the Tejeros Convention that happened on March 22, 1897. All in all, she became a prominent figure in our history. 3. 1) For me, given the substantial influence of Jose Rizal had on Philippine history and culture, it is likely that he would still be regarded as a national hero in today’s era, even though he had a track record, hits and misses in his relationships. In addition to his writings that supported Filipino nationalism, Rizal made significant contributions to the Philippines. He also fought for reforms inside the Spanish colonial authority. His books, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo, highlighted the wrongdoings and corruption of the colonial administration and sparked a movement for Philippine independence. Rizal's accomplishments and impact on Philippine culture cannot be overstated, despite his shortcomings and issues in his personal relationships, such as his affair with Leonor Rivera's younger sister and his inability to patch things up with his own family. The Philippine government and the Filipino people have both widely acknowledged him as a hero and patriot. 2) The most important woman in Rizal's life was his childhood sweetheart and fiancée, Leonor Rivera. Rizal's first book, Noli Me Tangere, was published as a result of Rivera's encouragement of his writing and support of his academic endeavors. Rivera remained a significant character in Rizal's life and may have served as inspiration for his drive for social justice and national freedom, even if their relationship came to an end owing to family resistance. It is challenging to pinpoint which of Rizal's many and complex connections with women would best support him in his quest for his country. Rizal did, however, have a number of women in his life who were significant in his professional and personal growth and who might have helped him fulfill his purpose for his nation. Josephine Bracken, who was married to Rizal in a common-law relationship, was another woman who might have enhanced his efforts to serve his nation. Rizal received help from Bracken, a gifted pianist and nurse, while he was imprisoned in Dapitan. Being an active member of the women's suffrage movement in Hong Kong, she may also have served as inspiration for Rizal's advocacy for women's rights. 3) Yes Mendoza, A18

1.) I think the current generation has developed a strong and fighting spirit and is now more aware of different issues in society. They have a lot to say about the issues including sexual-orientation, women empowerment, taking care of the marginalized, and such that they do not let things be silenced as how it was in the past. If Jose Rizal is to live in the present, I think he will be criticized by a lot of people in our generation as we have been using social media as our platform to reach other people in discussing issues that might ruin the image of Jose Rizal more because of his habit of having a lot of girls he hit on and being disloyal to them. The youth nowadays see "cheating" as a grave wrongdoing regardless of age. It has not been tolerated and people judge people as this is unfair to the other side who's cheated on. Personally, I hate people who likes to toy with the feelings of other people, I don't get why they do such thing, it is useless and not a good thing to do. 2.) Among the women that Jose Rizal was in a relationship, I think Leonor Rivera, who was considered to be the true love of Rizal, complement him in his mission for the Philippines. First of all, his love for Leonor Rivera even though a lot of temptations come in his way, he still longed for his 11 year sweetheart just as how Rizal developed his faithfulness to the Philippines despite having to experience and travel to different countries, he still go back to the Philippines. Even though their relationship did not end well because of Leonor's mother refraining her from reading the letters sent by Rizal, he still kept Leonor in his heart before having the chance to court other women. As for Leonor, she was forced to marry another man. This story of their relationship led Rizal to portray Leonor as Maria Clara in his famous novel, Noli Me Tangere which I believe started the awakening of the fighting spirit of Filipinos. 3.) 1.) Jose Rizal was a well-known national hero because of what he have done to our country, he is a nationalist, a writer, and a lover during his trips in different countries. He was also regarded as a national hero in the Philippines because of his major contributions and sacrifices that he made for our beloved country, he fought Spanish colonizers using pen and knowledge to achieve the independence that we are enjoying now. To the question "If Rizal were to live at present, knowing his track record, hits and misses in his relationships, do you think that he would still be considered as a national hero?" for me, it would be yes, he would still be considered as a national hero even if he were to love at present because o his significant role and impact that he did just to achieve the freedom, his love for his country, his dedication and perseverance to help our Filipino natives. His hits and misses were irrelevant in the decision whether to make him as a our national hero or not because it is not in the criteria on how someone can be a national hero. 2.) Among the all women that were discussed by Sir E! in the video lecture that I think would compliment is Leonor Rivera. Leonor Rivera was Rizal's childhood sweetheart, they were sweethearts for 11 years, she was also the inspiration of him in the character Maria Clara from the novel he made which is Noli Me Tangere. Leonor Rivera was considered as the "One True Love" of Jose Rizal and that was mentioned in the video lectured discussed by Sir E!. Leonor was a native in Camiling, Tarlac and her nickname is "Taimis", she is 2nd cousin of Jose RIzal. Exchanging love letters shows their deep emotional connection with each other. Leonor Rivera is also a well educated woman, they are both studying in Manila, they share both passion for their education which means that Leonor understands Rizal much more that other woman Rizal met. Leonor also knows the goals of Jose Rizal for his beloved country which is why she's the one I think would complement him in his mission for his country. 3.) Yes RAMOS, B43

1.) Knowing Jose Rizal's track record, hits and misses in his relationship, if he were to live at present I think there is nothing wrong for him to still be considered as a national hero of the Philippines because Jose Rizal is just an ordinary guy who makes mistakes, be tempted because he is not perfect. He also has a life to live, but instead he sacrifice his life for the sake of his people. In his travel and journey to other places he has this mission that he never forgets and that is to be an eye opener for Filipinos and see the wrongdoings of the oppressor even if this cause him to be away from his family and to set aside his personal life and worst sacrificing his own life. So in my opinion Jose Rizal's personal relationship and involvement with different women is not hindrance in recognizing as a true hero who help us to experienced the true freedom. 2.) Among the women who had relationships with Jose Rizal, the one who would complement him in his mission for his country would be Seiko Usui or O Sei San who considered Jose Rizal as his first love. Although they had a deep relationship and Jose Rizal already considered in marrying her and live happily in Japan and Rizal's proof of this was his letter when he said to O Sei San that there is no woman better than her have loved him and sacrificed herself for him, but still he set aside his love for O Sei San because he had a lucrative job at that time in the Spanish Legation or the Spanish embassy in Japan but. 1. Dr. Jose Rizal is considered the national hero of the Philippines by the Filipino people due to his contributions to the country's fight for freedom and independence from the Spanish colonial government. The novels that he wrote specially Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo expose the struggles, injustices, and abuses that the Filipinos experienced during the Spanish colonial era and inspire the Philippines especially Andres Bonifacio to stage a revolution. Therefore if Jose Rizal will live in the present knowing what happened in all of his relationships and knowing that he has vices, I will still consider him the national hero of the Philippines because all of his personal issues have nothing to do with him being the national hero. For me he is a hero because he open the eyes of the Filipinos on what is truly happening in the country, he loves his country, and he did everything and even sacrifice his life just to save us from the Spaniards. 2. Among Jose Rizal's relationships, I think both Leonor Rivera and Josephine Bracken played more roles in his life. While Leonor Rivera was known as his true love, Josephine Bracken, his last love, had a live-in relationship with him and demonstrated caring and devotion. Considering the two, I believe Josephine Bracken would complement Rizal's mission for his country the most. Despite controversies, she provided companionship, emotional support, and assistance in Rizal's daily life and medical practice during his exile in Dapitan. Her presence in Dapitan helped alleviate Rizal's loneliness and served as a valuable source of support during this challenging time. 3. YES (Andaya,A18)

1. For me yes but it will be a constant debate knowing how times have changed a lot. His actions towards fighting for the Filipino freedom and equality, his scientific and literary achievements and his commitment for social justice will still be considered up to this day. However, we all know his track record with women is criticized and often said that it is exploitative or even misogynistic. His actions towards women were outdated, he was in a different place and time during his actions, and his views on gender and sexuality were just shaped by the cultural context at the time. Overall if we look at it from a practical perspective Rizal’s contributions to the Philippines would outweigh his personal flaws and even mistakes. He was a man of intelligence, courage, and compassion. He dedicated his life fighting for the betterment of our country. I believe that these qualities are still valid points to still be considered as a national hero. Of course looking at it morally it will change things entirely. That’s why I believe that there are different qualities that we value today, and Rizal will still be considered a national hero. 2. Among the women that he had relationships to, I believe that Leonor Rivera would compliment him the best in his missions for our country. She was a strong and independent woman who was also committed to the Philippines. Rivera and Rizal were also similar, they were both well-educated and well-read, they also both shared the same vision which is the freedom and independence of the Philippines. At the time Rizal was really influenced by her, they both helped strengthen their courage to fight for our country. She constantly supported and encouraged him throughout, and Rizal became really focused on his mission. Their relationship was a deep and meaningful one, and it contributed to the shaping of his vision for the country. Rivera’s strength, independence, and faith complimented Rizal really well, they helped him to become a great leader that we all know. That’s why I personally think that Leonor Rivera was the best girl to compliment his mission at the time. 3. Yes

1) For me, I would still consider Rizal as our national hero even if he is still alive for now, even though he was involved in several affairs. But it will be different when we talking about his generation compare to our generation. Since in his generation it has a huge difference to ours because in the current generation, there are many people that will judge you base on what you did that could even put himself at risk. Even if he was involved in affairs, he was able give our country the freedom we deserve, the way he loved the country, and the way he fight for it will be remarkable compare to those issues. 2) For me, Among the women who had relationships with Rizal, that I think would complement him in his mission for his country would be Gertude Beckette. 1. In my opinion, even in the present time, Dr. Jose Rizal is still worthy to be considered our national hero despite his hits and misses in his relationships. In general, although he was the reason for the heartbreak of several ladies in the past, we still couldn’t hide the fact that Dr. Jose Rizal was an honorable man. It was also mentioned in the short video that even though Rizal was involved in many relationships with different women, he still treated them with the utmost respect just like how he treated her mother and sisters. Also, in my opinion, his personal love affairs could never outweigh his truthful intentions for the country. We made him our national hero mainly because of his remarkable legacy and sacrifices for the country. Dr. Jose Rizal’s hits and misses in his relationships will never change the fact that he was still the young hero who bravely fought for the country only using his wits and his pen and paper. Our nation admired him for generations because of what he did for our country and not of how he is a lover. Lastly, just like every one of us, Dr. Jose Rizal is also not perfect. He had so many shortcomings and mistakes in the past, but he still managed to be an honorable man, who chose to stand for what he believed in until his very last breath. 2. In my opinion, among all the women Dr. Jose Rizal had relationships with, Josephine Bracken would complement him in his mission for his country. In the video “The Rizal Family”, it is worthy to mention that Josephine Bracken joined the Filipino revolutionary forces and fought in the battle in Cavite after Dr. Jose Rizal’s execution. Also, she helped some wounded and sick Filipino soldiers during that time. This just showed how she loved and admired Dr. Jose Rizal and his aspirations for the country. In my opinion, among all the women Rizal loved, she was the one who understood him and his mission for the country the most. Additionally, she settled to be Dr. Jose Rizal’s common-law wife instead of marrying him but having Dr. Jose Rizal’s works to be retracted as a precondition of their marriage. Josephine Bracken proved his love for Dr. Jose Rizal in so many ways. She could just move on immediately after his death, but she chose to join the revolution for Dr. Jose Rizal to avenge his death. 3. Yes Submitted by: Collado (A01)

1. Yes, I still think that Dr. Jose Rizal is considered a national hero even though he had various past relationships with women. Same as everyone, he is still a human that could lead to temptations, bad habits, vice, etc. Given this fact, we must acknowledge his huge contributions to our nation. The publications of Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo led the Katipunan especially Andres Bonifacio to fight against the Spaniard's Colonizers, his various publications and annotations that contributed to our history, his contribution for us to realize that we Filipinos are a whole nation, etc. Also, his travel abroad is not his way to meet other women but for his “mission” which is for us Filipinos to have independence. However, when Rizal was to live now, he might face controversies like he was a “womanizer”. He also might face various comments from people and trolls on social media about whether he was eligible for a national hero title. Given this fact, I still considered Dr. Jose Rizal as one of the national heroes given that he has various contributions to our nation. 2. We know that Rizal's primary mission is to free our country from the Spaniard colonizers. Among his past relationships, the person who would I think to accompany him to fight against the Spaniards is Josephine Bracken. We know that after Rizal's execution, Josephine joined Katipunan to fight. Also, the other relationships of Dr. Jose Rizal were a “family type” where they love and want him to settle a family with them. Thus, we know that for Rizal it is not possible as his love for the nation is stronger that he chose to fight against the Spaniards even though he knew that his life and his family could be led to danger. Also, their relationship produced a child that sadly died later because of premature and Rizal serious with her that he offered her a marriage which we know that it didn’t go through. Even though Josephine married years after Rizal's death, I still think that she loved Rizal to the point that she and Rizal will fight together against the Spaniards if Dr. Jose Rizal didn’t execute. 3. 1.) Rizal would still be an authentic hero because he never fail to inspire us with his writings, with the life he lived with his passionate love of country. His martyrdom even gives us hope that it indeed is possible for a Filipino to offer his own life in order to show an example of selflessness. In this country of many corrupt people, countless dishonest who are all shamelessly ruining and robbing the nation while bringing in tremendous pains and sufferings to our people, Rizal became the example with one solitary reason to stand firm, still determined, amidst knowing what his fate would be because of his agendas and political stance. Rizal is nowhere near perfect and neither do all of us. But still his unconditional love for his country and fellow people and the life he lived is what makes him the National hero that we deserve until today. 2.) In my opinion, Leonora Rivera is the one that Rizal should have ended up with. Rizal described her as his true love. But due to the circumstances and the involvement of Leonora's mother, thing didn't go as planned. Rizal and Leonora found love at the wrong time. Both of them are a good couple as Leonora is as intelligent as Rizal. She has a lot of good qualities like playing musical instruments and has a nice singing voice. She was also the inspiration of Rizal for the character in his books Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. I can only imagine what the destiny holds if the two of them had made it together. 3.) 1. In my opinion, Jose Rizal had a strong sense of purpose in life, which led him to explore and learn about how other countries achieved their freedom and independence. Growing up in an environment where his people were oppressed and treated unjustly also contributed to his character as an adult. However, it is difficult to predict how he would behave if he were alive today, given that our country is now less affected by Spanish influence and oppression. Therefore, it is hard to say whether he would still be considered a national hero. Academic achievements, social attitudes, and relationships are all indicators of a person's character, but they do not necessarily reveal everything in their mind. Nonetheless, if Rizal were still as driven as he was in his time, he would still have a high chance of being a national hero in today's world. 2. In my opinion, among the women who had romantic relationships with Rizal, Leonor Rivera is the one who would have been most supportive of his mission for his country. Rizal was deeply enamored by her and she served as his inspiration. With her beauty, musical talents, and grace, she captured his heart. Rizal recognized that Leonor was not only beautiful but also well-read and intelligent. Unfortunately, their courtship was hindered by distance and family pressures, including Silvestra intercepting their love letters. If this had not happened, I believe Leonor would have been a valuable ally to Rizal in his mission. Despite their separation, Leonor remained a significant influence on Rizal during his travels in the Philippines and prevented him from falling in love with other women. 3. YES (DE LEON, A18)

1. I think Jose Rizal will still be considered as a national hero in the Philippines. Even knowing his track record, hits and misses in his relationships does not change the fact that he is still a great hero. Knowing Jose Rizal, he would still choose his mission and the freedom of the Philippines under the Spanish regime over his love relationships. He would sacrifice his love relationships for the freedom of the Philippines. If Jose Rizal were to love at the present, he would still be considered as a national hero. The records of Jose Rizal in his personal love relationship, we can see that he is also an ordinary man who falls in love, makes mistakes, and learns from it. Looking back at Jose Rizal’s love life, he experienced a lot such as first love, heartbreaks, conditions that where in the way between lovers, disapproval of parents and last love. 2. I think among the women who had relationship with Jose Rizal, Josephine Bracken would complement him in his mission for his country. I think Josephine Bracken would complement him in his mission for his country because she loved Jose Rizal. Josephine Bracken would support Jose Rizal in his mission for the freedom of the Philippines. Even with the failed relationships with the women of Jose Rizal, I think they would still complement him in his mission. Jose Rizal was a man on a mission, and I think all his women would respect him for that and support him also. In general, I think all the women who had relationships with Jose Rizal would complement him in his mission for the freedom of the Philippines. I think it would also give Jose Rizal good points which it would make the women love him more. Jose Rizal may have many women in his love relationship, but we know that he loved them all. 3. 1) Every man has their own story. In this course, we were able to know more about the life of Rizal and this gave us new perspectives or may be changed our views on him. If Rizal were to live at present, I think he would still be considered a national hero even if he hits and misses in his relationships. His love stories and experiences with many women for me don’t have to do with him being a great hero. This another part of Rizal being a lover boy tells us that he is just like any other boy - sometimes serious, sometimes confused, and sometimes tempted. It was like Rizal’s love life is a complete package where he experienced all the things that could happen when you’re in love and when someone is in love with you. Also, I can say that his love life is nothing compared with his life as a writer and nationalist. 2) From the video lecture, I learned that he had encountered relationships with women even before he went to Europe for his mission. Among the women who he had relationships with, I think his true love, Leonor Rivera, would complement him in his mission for his country. First of all, I believe in the saying “True Love Never Dies” rather than “First Love Never Dies”. It can be seen that Leonor Rivera was truly his true love because he almost had a mistress with the same name but still chose Rivera in the end. They were faithful to each other even in a long-distance and have been together for 11 years. This is for sure that Rivera is Rizal’s inspiration for doing his mission while in Europe. The only hindrance to their relationship is Tiya Beyang (Rivera’s mother) which resulted in a failed relationship. If only Rizal had constant direct communication with Leonor Rivera and fought their relationship between them against the world, maybe another plot of Rizal’s love life will be shared with us today. 3) YES, I watched the entire vide lecture.

1. In my opinion, Jose Rizal was to live at present with several achievements, track records, hits, and misses in his relationship with women in several countries that he visited, and those accomplishments in his life do not qualify as a national hero for the Philippines in the present time. Furthermore, Jose Rizal became the national hero of our country because of his literary work and as an active member in the propaganda movement, which created a spark to start a revolution to obtain the independence of the Philippines against the Spanish colonizers. On the other hand, Jose Rizal can be our national hero in the present time if our country has a similar situation in the past against the foreign colonizers. Moreover, if not, Jose Rizal was just an ordinary resident of our country and he can be acknowledged with his intelligence and literary works about the political management in our country, which can start a political movement to spread awareness to the several individuals to have a better country for the future generations. 2. To my way of thinking, among the women who had relationships with Jose Rizal that would complement him in his mission for his country is his true love relationship with Leonor Rivera. Moreover, his relationship with Leonor Rivera was last long for about 11 years having trust and faith in each other. Furthermore, Leonor Rivera had a significant role in the life of Jose Rizal since she understands the situation of Jose Rizal while studying in Europe and doing his mission to obtain the independence of our country against the Spanish Colonizers. Besides, her relationship with Jose Rizal may last a long lifetime if Sylvestra Bauson, the mother of Leonor Rivera, did not interfere with their relationship. On the other hand, the love of Leonor Rivera for Jose Rizal remained the same and unchangeable as time passes by, even though she was married to Henry Kipping and created her conditions for her lifetime. 3. 1. In today’s society, a lot of people (although not all) wants to have the kind of love that comes with loyalty and faithfulness. And so, famous people who become involved in cheating often gets criticized by the Filipino audience on social media. Even normal people could become the talk of the town if they are found to be involved in an affair. However, If Jose Rizal were to live at present, I think that he would still be considered as a national hero even while considering his track record on his hits and misses in his relationships. It is a given that he could get criticized about his numerous love affairs. Even more so, he once courted two girls at the same time. Although this is the case, I think that a lot of people would still believe that there is no such thing as a perfect hero and that his efforts for the country still deserves to be acknowledged. In addition, his treatment towards his parents and siblings should also be recognized as shown in the short video. Therefore, Rizal should not be solely judged based on his romantic relationships. 2. If I were to pick among the women who had relationships with Jose Rizal, I would say that the one who would complement him in his mission for his country is Gertrude Beckette. As discussed in the video, they were partners in crime. Gertrude has given Rizal more-than normal assistance and showered him with a lot of attention. She has also given him her assistance when he was doing some paintings and sculptures. Some of the sculptures that they did together are the “Prometheus Bound”, “Triumph of Death over Life”, and the “Triumph of Science over Death”. I think that these efforts of hers shows that she is a capable woman. And so, had Rizal ever reciprocated Gertrude’s love, I think that she would not hesitate to give more of her loving service. It is even possible that she would give him her full support with regards to his mission for the Philippines. The only problem is that they say Rizal never reciprocated Gertrude’s love. 3. Yes. 1.) If Jose Rizal were alive today, I would say his status as a national hero would be uncertain due to his personal life and relationships. On the other hand, Rizal's contributions to the Philippines' battle for independence definitely would be acknowledged. His works Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo would be widely known. If Rizal were to live at present, his relationships with women might be looked differently. Today's society places greater emphasis on consent and respectful conduct in relationships, Rizal's actions might be deemed inappropirate. All in all his achievements and advocacy and all the things he has done for this country I would personally still deem him as our national hero. 2.) In my opinion Leonor Rivera is the most compatible woman out of all Rizal's relationships. Leonor Rivera was Rizal's childhood sweetheart, they shared the same goals and respected each other. Leonor Rivera supported and encouraged Rizal to pursue his passion. Rivera changed Rizal's perspective and led him to make positive changes in the Philippines. In conclusion Leonor Rivera in my opinion is the best match for Rizal, she standed out and she dedicated herself in helping Rizal on his mission for the country. 3.) Yes Mopera (A18)

1.) Based on his efforts to the fight for the Philippines' independence from Spanish colonial control, his writings promoting social justice and national harmony, and his willingness to give his life in the service of his convictions, Rizal has earned the title of national hero. Rizal's contribution to the Philippine history and culture is generally acknowledged and revered, not with standing any flaws or short comings in himself. Because of this, it is doubtful that his reputation as the hero of our nation would suffer because of his relationships with others or any mistakes that he may have done in his personal life. So to sum it, Rizal's sacrifice to our country has nothing to do with his personal life, nobody is perfect, everybody has its own flaws and mistakes. Rizal is only human, but that does not mean he is excempted and allowed to do repeat those mistakes, I am just saying that all of the things that Rizal did, does not make him any less of a hero. 2.) Relationships with women, such as those with his mother, sisters, friends, and romantic partners, have greatly influenced Rizal's viewpoints and ideals as well as his fight for social justice and Philippine independence. Leonor Rivera, his childhood sweetheart, and Josephine Bracken, a lady he met while he was living in exile in Dapitan, were two of Rizal's romantic partners, some of whom were also thinkers and activists in their own right. Both ladies supported Rizal's endeavors and principles, and he in turn admired and revered them. Since each relationship was special and influenced by a number of conditions, it is impossible to say which of Rizal's romantic partners would have enhanced and motivated him in his mission for his country. But it is obvious that Rizal's relationships with women, like all other facets of his life, were influenced by his dedication to freedom, justice, and the advancement of the Filipino people. 3.) Yes. 1. I think he would still be considered a national hero because we all know how Rizal fought for our country, but when it comes to his own love life, I think we should not idolize him, loyalty and faithfulness are very important when it comes to love, based on Rizal's love life, I think he is not genuine when it comes to the woman that he met. Many references declare that Leonor Valenzuela was Rizal's affection while having a relationship with Leonor Rivera. But to be honest, Rizal has it all when it comes to intelligence and bravery, and he knew that all Filipinos should have better treatment than we always deserved. Even though Rizal has his own Red Flags or bad character when it comes to his love life, he never fails to show love for his own country. He sacrificed for the Filipinos and fought for what is right using only his intelligence. Rizal really deserved to be our National Hero because of his dedication and bravery. 2. I think the woman that complement him in his mission for his country was his true love, Leonor Rivera. Though we all know that Leonor Rivera was his second cousin, I think Rizal really did show Rivera his love. He even makes Leonor as Maria Clara in Noli Me Tangere, and gave her a lot of love letters. I just think that it is really messed up because her mother doesn't like Rizal so she was forced to marry an English Engineer. Leonor Rivera had been faithful to Rizal even though she doesn't have contact with him. And it really shows how much they love each other. I think personally that it has a massive effect on Rizal, especially when it comes to his love for his country because Leonor Rivera is his first true love and that can affect his love for his own country too, 3. If Rizal were to live at present time, knowing his track record, hits and misses in his relationships, I think that he would still be considered as a national hero. Rizal's love life is only one aspect of who he is. He may have failed many relationships and done many wrong things, but we have all failed a relationship at some time in our lives. We all have our own flaws; it just so happens that Rizal's flaw is love. His failures in relationships pale in comparison to what he has done to our country. Though he failed in the love interest area, he was a successful novelist, poet, ophthalmologist, and journalist. And with these qualities, he fights for our nation in his own unique way. That choice to fight for our country's freedom strengthens the patriotism that exists in every Filipino's heart. The revolution began with his works as a driving force, and the rest is history. Among the women who had relationships with Rizal, I think that Leonor Rivera would complement him in his mission for his country. First and foremost, they are both Filipino, thus it is only logical that they would make the ideal partners in our country's purpose. They will support one another in their struggle for our homeland. Although Leonor's mother is opposed to their relationship since Rizal is a Filibustero, time will prove that what Rizal is doing is all for the independence of the Filipino people. We also know that Rizal's true love is Leonor Rivera. Love is more powerful than we thought, if the relationship is unhealthy, it may be damaging but w hen you are in a healthy relationship, you will both get stronger, succeed in many things together, and become more trustworthy and cooperative with each other. 1. In my opinion, Rizal would still have a chance to be recognized as our National Hero even if he were alive today. The reason for this is because his relationships and affairs are unrelated to what he accomplished for the country. We cannot contest the fact that he had the courage to deliver this nation from the merciless Spanish conquistadors. In my opinion, a hero is someone who is supposed to be a hero, not someone who is flawless. Being a hero has nothing to do with his personal life or his relationship. Due to these problems, he may draw a lot of criticism if he were to live in the present. Today, people are more likely to evaluate someone by their errors than by their good deeds, which is why I believe Rizal would struggle to become a national hero in the current era. It is a sad fact that in this generation, all of your accomplishments will be forgotten due to your mistakes, regardless of how many times and in what manner you have proven yourself. The majority, if not all, of today's generation people judge those who cheat or have relationships outside of marriage, they will say hurtful words and will always go against you no matter how you serve this country, still, in their eyes, you are a cheater and never a hero. Furthermore, I believe Rizal still has a potential to be recognized as a National Hero today because of his services to the nation, and because of what he did to secure Philippine independence, the hardship of embracing this whole country and sacrificing his life, people might be encouraged to overlook his flaws. 2. For me, among the ladies Dr. Jose Rizal had relationships with, it is Josephine Bracken who helped him further with his missions for this nation. It is important to note that Josephine Bracken joined the Filipino revolutionary troops and took part in the battle in Cavite after Dr. Jose Rizal's execution based on the video lecture "The Rizal Family" that has been discussed. She also assisted a few injured and ill Filipino soldiers at that time in which she continued to prove that she understands what Rizal wants to imply and the reason why they should further fight for independence. It appears to me that she was the one who most understood Rizal and his goal for the nation out of all the women he loved. After Rizal’s execution, if she really wanted to just move on, after all, Rizal is already dead, she would have just left, choose her peace and secure herself than being part of the revolution but no, she stayed continuing what Rizal is telling about fighting for liberalism. 3. 1. Yes, Even with his track record, Dr. Jose Rizal will still be considered as national Hero. No one is perfect as they say. Even tho his relationship with women is very questionable if he lives in this day his works and sacrifices shouldn't go to waste just because he did not meet the expectation that we have. In our today's culture where everyone cancel people if they make mistakes we should be more in depth in understanding the situation. Being a hero is like being the person who have battled for humanity's progress and prosperity have used the most powerful weapons: love, respect, sincerity, and peace. Dr. Jose Rizal were fit in all of that. He did fight for our Liberty and rights through Literature and what he did is enough to make people revolutionize for our beloved country. So yes he will still be a hero in the past and even in the present that would not change. 2. I think the one who would complement him in his mission for his country is O-sei san. it says that Rizal could have married her and would have lived ever after because Rizal had a lucrative job at that time but as we all know Rizal is a man with patriotic mission. I think the love story they have is one of the main example that love doesn't have to hold you back to your true purpose. And that's the kind of love they had. It's short , untouch and unpolish but the support and the understanding was there. Rizal wrote her a letter and says that he wont forget her. The love of Rizal for o-sei san is something rare. Its the kind of love that doesn't hold you back. 3. Yes Acuyong (A06)

1.) Yes. I still believe that he would be considered as a national hero even how many women he had in his past life or even up to now if he were to live in the present. Jose Rizal did meet a lot of women in his travels and almost all of it fell in love with him. But these travels are part of his mission, to observe the life and culture of different countries that open his eyes and mind in liberating the country. And because of it, Filipinos achieved the freedom. That is why he is considered to be the national hero and it has nothing to do in his personal life and love life. No matter how many women he had, how many failed relationships he had, he would still be the hero I’ve known. It is just proved that Jose Rizal was still a human, he was not perfect, there were also times he made bad decisions but that does not measure his personality nor what he did for the country. 2.) I think among the women in the life of Jose Rizal that would complement in his mission for the country is Gertrude Beckette. Gertrude was known as the partner in crime of Jose Rizal. She was also stated as the most beautiful among Jose Rizal’s women. Further, she is the one who assisted Rizal in his paintings and sculptures. They even finished some sculptures together; it really shows how Gertrude gave him attention and assistance. And possibly without a doubt that Gertrude would be the one who will support Jose Rizal’s decision and with his mission for the country. Even Jose Rizal enjoyed her loving service but sadly he did not return the love of Gertrude for him. He even left London just to avoid her, but gave her a group carving as a sign of brief relationship with her. Even though they were not meant for each other I still believe that Gertrude Beckette is the one who complements the most for the mission of Rizal because she helps and assists Rizal in a way the other women cannot. 3.) 1.) Being a man myself and who has done activities like what Rizal had with his women, of course I would still consider him as a national hero since his affairs mean nothing to what he did for the country. I'm actually more impressed on how he managed both giving patriotism to the country while entertaining women at the same time. But if I were to base my opinion if whether Rizal would still be considered as a national hero even with his so called "Hit and Misses" as a Filipino. I would have doubts. Why? Because being clean in every part of the image is what maintains that sense of heroism. At least for me. As a man I have no problems with him being a womanizer especially at that young age since he was exploring the different personalities and types of women he could meet. But as a Filipino who tells other people that he's our national hero. It's safe to say that this is one of the factors I'd rather not talk about since it does damage his image as our national hero. So the answer for me is both yes and no. 2.) Personally, I think all of them would compliment Rizal for his mission, I mean who doesn't want a partner that is considered as a hero right? You can see these in movies like Superman, where Lois Lane is head over heels for Clark Kent A.K.A Superman, or Iron Man where Pepper Potts, even with Tony Stark's wittiness and stubbornness... Pepper still remains loyal to him. Women like a knight in shining armor and as for Rizal, I can safely say he's wearing a really shiny one. But If I were to choose between the women who would compliment Rizal the most, It would be Rizal's true love who is also known as Leonor Rivera. Being madly in love and developing a type of depression when they left each other is the only proof I need to know that Leonor would have been very proud of Pepe who achieved his goals for the country they both live in. It's a shame what happened to the relationship of these two. But thinking about what could have happened. It would have been a nice love story, sadly not all love stories have a happy ending do they? 3.) Yes. Maniago, (A01)

1.) Yes, he will still be considered as a national hero. Being in a lot of relationships doesn't affect you from loving your own country. Dr. Jose Rizal is one of the most respected person in our country, he is the one who inspired the Philippine revolution he fought with his writings and not with violence but unfortunately this led to his execution by the Spanish colonizers. Dr. Jose Rizal is the one who brought freedom for our country that we are enjoying in the present time. He did so much for our country that I don't think something like being in a messy relationship would affect Dr. Jose Rizal from being our national hero. Dr. Jose Rizal should not be judged just because of his track record in his relationships. We should respect Dr. Jose Rizal for what he did for our country. 2.) In my opinion, Leonor Rivera would complement Dr. Jose Rizal in his mission for our country. Because Leonor Rivera is Dr. Jose Rizal's true love. They met in Rizal's boarding house that is owned by his uncle in Intramuros. Leonor Rivera was 13 years old when he met Dr. Jose Rizal. They want their relationship to prosper even though their family disapproved their relationship. Dr. Jose Rizal even wrote Leonor Rivera a poem with him saying his goodbyes. He also made Leonor Rivera as the inspiration for Maria Clara from the novel Noli me Tangere. Leonor Rivera influenced Dr. Jose Rizal the most among all the women he had relationships with. 1) If Rizal were to live in the present, he would still be considered a national hero. No person is perfect, Jose Rizal is considered an average person even knowing the track record of his relationships. A person cannot tell whether or not he/she would fall in love with a person, we cannot control our feelings. Considering what he has done and the relationships he went through, we could say that Rizal did not want to hurt anybody's feelings. They fell in love with Rizal and he was tempted, he was just a person. We all make mistakes, no one is perfect, all we can do is learn from those mistakes and move on knowing what we have done and use that to avoid making the same mistakes. Rizal all throughout his relationship made sure that he was clear of his intentions and that he was serious. The journey that he went through made him stronger and widen his perspective. 2) Among the women who had relationships with Rizal, I think Leonor Rivera would compliment him on his mission for his country. They were deeply in love with each other and they only have their hearts for each other. They were a sweetheart for 11 years, that says a lot about a relationship. In that span of time, they already know each other very well and trust each other. Even though their love for each other did not result in a good ending or their being together until the very end, Rizal putting Rivera as his main character in one of his famous novels says it all. They love each other and she would give him strength to not give up until the very end of his life. Leonor Rivera would compliment Rizal on his mission of serving the freedom of his country. 1.One of the most renowned figures in Philippine history is José Rizal. He was a multifaceted intellectual and a political activist, best known for his political writings that inspired the Philippine revolution and ultimately led to his execution by the Spanish colonizers.A hero represents goodness. Jose Rizal became a national hero by fighting for independence in a quiet but effective manner. He expressed his love for the Philippines through his novels, essays, articles and poems rather than a force of aggression. At the time, he was a very remarkable individual. He was humble, fighting for reforms through his writings instead of through a revolution. He put his brains, talents, and skills to better use in a more peaceful manner. In today's time trully Jose Rizal's work and ethics are still deserving to be a hero.Considering his relationships,it might affect his social life but it would not go to the point where we will neglect his patriotism for the country and all of his sacrifices all put to waste. His works will still weigh more. 2.True love does exist, and for me his the true love Jose Rizal has the biggrst infulence on his carrer as a hero and contributed major characteristics that Jose Rizal's life.At Rizal's uncle's boarding house in Intramuros, Leonor Rivera, then 13 years old, met the 18-year-old Rizal. Rivera was described by Rizal as a charming woman with a beautiful singing voice and good piano skills.Despite their passionate and profitable connection, Rivera and Rizal had two obstacles: they were second cousins, and their families were against their union. Rivera's parents were against their relationship, accusing Rizal of being a filibusterer or a freebooter. They wished for their relationship to flourish. They tried to keep writing each other love letters, but Rivera's mother kept many of them buried. In 1890, Rivera wrote to Rizal saying that she was already engaged to Henry Kipping, a British engineer who helped build the Manila Dagupan Railway system in the same year. Some accounts claim that Rivera burned Rizal's letters to her, but she kept the ashes in the hem of her wedding gown. When Rivera died during second childbirth, documents showed that Rizal did not speak for days. Some scholars believe that Maria Clara's portrayal in Noli Me Tangere immortalized Rivera.Having all this challenges was faced by jose rizal but he still kept loyal and true to his word,by this, it might be a favtor on his love for the country,he might applied his love for leonor and to fight for what is right and what he loves. 3.yes (SARMIENTO, A01)

1)Yes, I believe Rizal is still regarded as a national hero. In general, despite the fact that he had caused the heartbreak of several ladies in the past, we couldn't deny that Dr. Jose Rizal was an honorable man. The short video also mentioned that even though Rizal had many relationships with different women, he still treated them with the utmost respect, just as he did her mother and sisters. When he traveled to Spain and the rest of Europe in order to awaken not only the Spaniards but the rest of the world to the Filipino people's grievances at the time, his outstanding talents enabled him to raise the concerns of the Filipino people with the Spanish people. Rizal's life served as an inspiration to fight excesses not only against foreign occupiers but also against some local interests who manipulated the majority's political, social, and economic lives for their own gain. Despite the fact that Dr. Jose Rizal was not perfect and had many flaws, the fact that he was able to inspire the Filipino people to once again recognize their rights and reclaim their home, the Philippines, without the use of any lethal weapons is still remarkable and would qualify him as a hero. 2) Two prominent women who had relationships with Jose Rizal stand out: Leonor Rivera and Josephine Bracken. Both women had a significant impact on Rizal's life and, in different ways, could be viewed as potential complements to his mission for his country. Leonor Rivera was Rizal's childhood sweetheart and the inspiration for the character Maria Clara in his novel "Noli Me Tangere." Their relationship was deeply emotional, and it played an important role in shaping Rizal's ideals and nationalist sentiments. Leonor was a well-educated woman whose correspondence with Rizal aided his intellectual development. She backed his writings and aspirations for social reform in the Philippines. Josephine Bracken was an Irish woman who joined Rizal in exile in Dapitan. Their relationship was contentious, and some members of Rizal's family and friends opposed it. Regardless, Josephine's presence in Rizal's life was crucial to his emotional well-being during his exile. Leonor Rivera and Josephine Bracken both possessed qualities that could have aided Rizal in his mission for his country. Josephine represented a broader worldview and the potential for international solidarity in the pursuit of social justice, whereas Leonor represented a strong connection to his Filipino identity and the nurturing of his nationalist ideals. Finally, various influences shaped Rizal's mission for his country, and both women played significant roles in his life and development as a national hero. 3) YES Montemayor, B43

1.If Jose Rizal were still alive today, his reputation as a national hero would almost certainly be called into question owing to a possible investigation into his personal life and relationships. His historical significance as a writer, philosopher, and revolutionary leader who inspired Filipino nationalism and the battle for independence from Spanish colonial control, on the other hand, remains the major reason for his designation as a national hero. Any reevaluation of his hero status in the modern day would be influenced by societal norms and perceptions. 2.For me, I think it would be Josephine Bracken because she stands out as someone who aided him in his quest for the nation. Despite difficulties and controversy, Josephine supported Rizal's efforts and actively aided him in his medical profession and academic pursuits. Her interest in Philippine culture and nationalism was similar to Rizal's quest for Filipino independence. They collaborated in Rizal's objective for the country's liberation and independence until the very end. 3.YES DE LEON, B43

1. Well, I think knowing Rizal's tracks and hits and misses in his relationship at this time, I believe that he would not be the National Hero of our country because of today's cancel culture. Cancel Culture is very evident in this modern era because many people will see Rizal's flaws rather than the good things that he will do what is best for us and the Philippines. People in today's society are quite vocal about social concerns such as women's empowerment, gender equality, racism, and so on. Because these issues affect so many people, social media focuses on them and motivates individuals to do and understand what is right. Emotions and feelings are also what drive social media. There is a saying - "One mistake and people will forget all your good deeds". I think this quote will be fit for this question. 2. Among the women who had relationships with Rizal, I think that the one who would complement Jose Rizal in his mission is the one that he truly loves, Leonor Rivera. 11 years of relationship, both of them loved each other so much but their relationship stopped because of Leonor Rivera's mother. I think that Leonor Rivera will support on what Jose Rizal will do not only for her but also our country. Jose Rizal had always had a soft spot for Leonor Rivera. Through his works, Jose Rizal fought for our country. Because he adored Leonor Rivera, he portrayed her as "Maria Clara," a character in one of his books, Noli Me Tangere, which was one of the masterpieces that sparked the revolution that liberated the country. So, I think Leonor Rivera would complement Jose Rizal in his mission. 3. Yes Manrique (A18)

1.) As Jose Rizal demonstrated, a person can be considered a hero if they do great work in our society and country. He demonstrated that the pen is considerably more powerful than the sword by not resorting to violence against the Spaniards. He is regarded as our greatest hero due to his ability to revolutionize Filipino thought. He utilized his intelligence, talents, and skills in a manner that was less aggressive. He also sacrificed his romantic relationships and his peaceful lifestyle for the cause of our nation and the Filipino people. Yes, Rizal would still be regarded as our national hero despite his inconsistent romantic relationships. Jose Rizal is merely a human like us. Having a love relationship is part of maturing and reaching adulthood. Above all, Jose Rizal became the national hero of the Philippines because he battled for freedom in a quiet but effective manner. 2.) Josephine Bracken, in my opinion, complemented Rizal's mission for the Philippines. Many Filipinos are familiar with the life of Jose Rizal. We were all taught about the national hero in school and as children. Josephine Bracken, rumored to have been Rizal's last love, is also a name we are familiar with. Many may be wondering what became of her following Rizal's death on December 30, 1896. Marie Josephine Leopoldine Bracken, also known as Josephine Bracken, was born in Hong Kong in 1877. She was the common-law wife of the country's national hero, Jose Rizal. She fled Manila three days after Rizal's passing because Rizal's family disliked her. Josephine traveled to Cavite, where she joined the revolt and cared for the injured and sick. After the revolution, Josephine requested Rizal's mortal remains, but the Spaniards refused. On January 6, 1897, she vowed to avenge his death by joining Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo's revolutionary organization. She once led an assault against the Spaniards and shot and killed a Spanish commander with her rifle. She participated in numerous battles while frequently being hungry and barefoot. 3.) Abulencia // B43 1. I still think Rizal will be considered our national hero even though his relationships is like hit or misses even if he live at present time. Because Rizal's intellectual brilliance, literary works, and artistic talents would still be highly valued and celebrated in the present. His writings, such as "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo," remain essential in understanding Philippine history and the struggle against Spanish colonial oppression. Also his unwavering love for his country and his dedication to fighting for its freedom and reforms exemplify his patriotism and nationalism. These qualities would continue to resonate with Filipinos who admire and appreciate individuals who work for the betterment of the nation. Like all historical figures, Rizal was not without flaws. However, his imperfections do not negate the significance of his contributions to the nation and the impact of his ideas on its history. Lastly, even though Rizal's relationships and personal life may be scrutinized more critically in the present because of that type of relationships that he have the track record of hits and misses, his legacy as a national hero would likely endure due to his intellectual contributions, patriotism, and enduring influence on the Filipino identity. The qualities and values that make him a revered figure in Philippine history would still be cherished and admired by the Filipino people. 2. For me I think the women who had relationships with Rizal that complemented with him for the mission in the country is Josephine Bracken who met Rizal in Dapitan, Philippines, where he was in exile. I think Josephine Bracken because she showed great support for Rizal's nationalistic endeavors and his passion for advocating reforms in the Philippines. She also understood the importance of his mission and shared his vision for a free and independent nation. Also being an outsider to the Filipino culture, Josephine provided a fresh perspective and a deeper understanding of the complexities of colonial rule and its effects on the Filipino people. This perspective could have broadened Rizal's own understanding of the situation and strengthened his determination to fight for his country's rights. Lastly, her love and admiration for him might have served as a source of inspiration and motivation for Rizal to persist in his mission, knowing that he had someone who believed in him and his cause. 3. 1.) If Rizal were to live at the present time with his track record and relationships I still think that he would still be considered as a national hero. Rizal, in the end, was never a perfect person. He experienced a lot from his early age, student years, travels, and until he died. He was just an ordinary person trying to fight for his country's liberty. He had a good history of caring for his family and loved ones. At the very least, he treated his relationships accordingly. With Rizal’s writing he ignited the revolution that saved our country. These writings might have also captured the hearts of women, but those endeavors happened apart from his intentions to liberate the country. He could have even left his patriotic mission to continue living a happy life but his patriotism for the country came first. It is fair to judge his ways with women on how playboy, womanizer, and patronizing he was but let that not veer off from the other things he did for the country. 2.) Among Rizal’s relationships, I think Gertrude Beckett would complement Rizal the most for his mission for his country. She assisted Rizal more than normal during their time together. She even assisted Rizal in finishing some of his paintings and popular sculptures namely, The Triumph of Death over Life, Prometheus Bound, and the Triumph of Science over Death, some showing a level of love for the arts that may greatly help in Rizal’s mission. Her assistance with Rizal could have extended more if they lasted longer. She could have helped Rizal in his endeavors to save the country and at the same time care for him all the same. Gertrude Beckett and Rizal could have been partners in crime in liberating the country. The unrequited love may have been more than love but also for the country if reciprocated, but as some love stories go, it ends. In the end, the best woman that would really complement Rizal in his mission for his country is the one that he personally chooses. 3.) Yes Pomperada (A06)

1.) Yes. I will still consider him our national hero even though I know his record and his past relationships. He is still a person, not a saint. We have good and bad sides. We are people and we know we are not perfect we all have downsides as a person. Having a bad side and bad habits does not mean that we are bad people. Even though he is called a “playboy” he still helped our country to have its freedom. He is wrong for playing women’s heart, but we all know that he respects and love his mother so much. He is still a boy back then and I believe that many people, not just a boy, but all gender can improve and be a better people, once they have learned and realized their mistakes and values. Everyone has the time to learn and be mature. Rizal is still our national hero. Having a mistake does not mean you are a bad person and not worth being a hero. 2.) In my own opinion, it was Josephine Bracken who compliment Jose Rizal on his mission for his country. Because it was her who support him and still love him even though he was in jail in Dapitan. I remembered that there was a priest who ask him for a retraction and in return, that priest will let Jose Rizal and Josephine Bracken to get married. And after Jose Rizal was exiled, his sisters named Josefa and Trinidad Rizal, his nieces named Angelica Lopez and Delfina Natividad Hermosa, brother named Paciano Rizal, and his common law wife Josephine Bracken joined the Katipunan or known as the Kataastaasan, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan. Josephine Bracken joined Katipunan’s forces in Cavite. Even after Rizal died his common-law wife Josephine Bracken joined the Katipunan and for me, it was evidence that Josephine Bracken supports his mission for our country. 3.) Yes. (SARMIENTO, A07)

1. For me yes, because he did a lot for his country even though we all know about his relationships, tracks etc. despite of that he inspired many Filipinos not just during his time but also to later generations to fight for freedom from the excesses of colonial rule of Spain, the United States and also the excesses of post-colonial economic, political, and social policies. His outstanding talents empowered him to raise the worries of the Filipino people to the Spanish people when he traveled to Spain and the rest of Europe in order to awaken not only the Spaniards, but the rest of the world, to the Filipino people's grievances at the time. Rizal's life served as an inspiration to battle excesses not only against foreign occupiers but also against some local interests who manipulated the political, social, and economic lives of the majority for their own gain. Despite varying views of how Rizal must be remembered in the eyes of people, José Rizal remains the symbol and inspiration for Filipinos that must be emulated for the next set of youth to come. 2. I think Leonor Rivera,Born in Camiling, Tarlac, his true love, sweetheart for 11 years. Because they have a quite good relationship and she is a great influence, she became the model for the Maria Clara character in Noli Me Tangere. And as I know based on the lecture of Rizal the lover, Leonor Rivera and Rizal loved each other and always sending letter and being faithful to her. I think for that 11 years he knows Rizal and support what he is doing. Unfortunately it really ended up tragic because her mother Slyvestra Bauson (Tie beyang) hid all the letters that Rizal wrote to her. 3. Yes SAOIT, A01

1. In my opinion, yes, Rizal would still be considered a national hero despite his messy relationships in today's time. In relation to my past answers in course works, I have said that being a national hero does not depend on whether a person fought through expression in his or her writing or fought by raising a sword in a war. As long as a person has a great love for his country and makes significant contributions that result in independence and betterment of the country, one can be a national hero. The same goes for this topic. Personal relations should not affect if a person were to be a national hero. Rizal's relationship has nothing to do with his sacrifices and help in making the revolution. Even now, we are aware of Rizal's relationship but we do not think of him less than he is. We still respect him and admire what he had done for the country. So I think that despite the relationship Rizal would have if he lived in today's time, there would be no effect in making him a national hero as long as he loves the country and made revolutionary contributions. 2. In my opinion, in Rizal's past relationship, Gertrude "Gettie" Beckette would be the best woman to accompany him on his mission for the country. Gertrude assists Rizal in his works of art. She gave him special attention more than anyone else. I could imagine Gertrude as being a loyal companion who will do her best to assist someone, especially if it is Rizal, whom she had feelings for. Together, Rizal and Gertrude achieved a lot of things. They have finished their little missions, such as sculptures and arts. As it is believed that Gertrude is the most beautiful among Rizal's women, Gertrude can occasionally use her looks in obtaining special information. She can act like an innocent spy for Rizal's mission, as she is a foreigner and little to no one would suspect her. So in my opinion, the most suitable to accompany Rizal with his mission for the country would be Gertrude as she can be loyal, she is great at assisting Rizal, and she is beautiful. 3. Yes. 1. In today's generation, there are many celebrities, influencers, artists, any known people across the world who have records of being cheaters, corrupt, or any things that are not morally right, but they still have followers, fans, people who love and support them. It is likely that Rizal's actions and ideas may not be consistent with contemporary standards and norms, which could cause conflict. For instance, Rizal has come under fire for being patriarchal and sexist in the way he perceives women in his books and private correspondence. His beliefs towards religion and spirituality have also been the topic of interpretation and discussion. While some contend that he was an atheist or freethinker, others assert that he was a fervent Catholic. Jose Rizal may face criticism because of his hits and misses in his relationships, however, I think he would still be considered as a national hero as it is based on his contributions to the Philippine Revolution and his works, which continue to inspire and influence Filipinos. 2. I think the one who complements him in his mission for his country would be Leonor Rivera, his True Love. Leonor Rivera is a highly educated woman who shared Rizal's passion for literature, music, and the arts, was his childhood sweetheart and the model for Maria Clara in his book "Noli Me Tangere." In spite of the many obstacles they encountered, she was a woman of strong morals and beliefs, never wavered in her devotion to Jose Rizal even though Jose Rizal was studying in Europe. Jose Rizal also did not waver his devotion for Leonor Rivera despite being apart from each other for a long time. Her unwavering support and loyalty to Rizal may have helped to strengthen his resolve and inspire him in his quest for Philippine independence. She was well renowned for her generosity, and friendliness as well as her fervent devotion to the cause of Philippine independence. 3. Yes. Yapsangco (A18)

1). How Rizal would be perceived if he were alive today would depend on a number of things, including his actions and decisions in modern times as well as the values and beliefs of present society, therefore it is impossible to say for sure. It is important to note, though, that Rizal's standing as a national hero in the Philippines is not just based on his relationships with other people but also on his contributions to the nation's independence movement and his writings, which still serve to motivate and educate Filipinos today. The writings of Rizal, including "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo," were crucial in bringing to light the injustices and inequalities experienced by the Filipino people during the Spanish colonial era. His writings also contributed to the unity and inspiration of the Philippine Revolution, which ultimately resulted in the liberation of the nation from Spanish rule. It is because of these contributions to the history and identity of the nation that Rizal has come to be adored and venerated in the Philippines, and probably would still be if he were still alive. Social media nowadays would undoubtedly have a significant impact on Jose Rizal, both positively and negatively, if he were still alive. Social media could give Rizal a powerful platform to share his thoughts and opinions with a much wider audience than he could have done in his own time. With the power to reach millions of users with a single post on social media, Rizal could use it to further his beliefs in democracy, nationalism, and human rights and encourage a new generation of Filipinos to speak up for what they believe in. However, Rizal might also come under harsh scrutiny and criticism on social media from people who don't share his opinions. It is possible that Rizal's ideas would be praised and criticized in the highly divisive political environment of today, with some accusing him of being either too radical or not radical enough. Social media could subject Rizal to online abuse and bullying, which could harm his mental and emotional health. In other words, if he lacks the maturity to understand the repercussions of his acts in the 21st century, he may be "Cancelled" and left to rot in the social media environment. For the most part, it's unclear to foresee exactly how Rizal would react to social media if he were alive today, but it's possible that he would use it to further his goals while also being aware of the potential risks and difficulties that come with being a prominent figure in the world of digital media. 2). In his lifetime, Rizal has traveled with a variety of women, including Josephine Bracken, Segunda Katigbak, Leonor Rivera, and Leonor Valenzuela, to name a few. But it's important to keep in mind that, despite having qualities that might have complemented Rizal's mission, these women were still unique individuals with their own aspirations. It's crucial to remember that Rizal had a broad range of goals for his country, including political, social, cultural, and economic improvements. It is therefore difficult to identify a specific woman who would have been the ideal match for Rizal's goal. In this instance, Josephine Bracken stands out to me the most since she was unquestionably the most well-liked of Rizal's loves. Josephine was born and raised looking distinctly European; only her petite frame gave away her mixed ancestry. She was a great match for Rizal's height of five feet four inches at just under five feet one. Rizal even made reference to her in his famous poem "Mi Ultimo Adios" (My Last Goodbye), where he stated "Farewell, my sweet foreigner, my darling, my delight." In his live-in relationship with Bracken, Rizal undoubtedly found joy and satisfaction. Until his latter days, he treated her as his wife. His numerous letters to family members, especially to sister Narcisa, who was kind and understanding to her brother's Irish lover, show his love for them. Bracken was committed to Rizal, a loving housewife, and a good friend and partner. She helped him go about his everyday business in Dapitan. After Rizal's death, Bracken joined the revolutionary forces in the province of Cavite, where she treated sick and injured soldiers and raised their morale. She also helped the revolutionary general Pantaleón Garca operate reloading jigs for Mauser cartridges at the Imus Arsenal, which only increases my admiration for Josephine Bracken because it showed that she was eager to help with Rizal's cause. 3). 1) From my perspective, yes he would still be considered a national hero knowing his track record, and despite his relationship history. It was said that Rizal got entangled with numerous women which for me was understandable since Rizal is a normal human being. Despite his entanglement with women, he was still striving to learn and write about the Filipino people’s struggle in the hands of the Spaniards. In a sense, his experiences with women did not hinder him from making the Filipinos believe in the concept of freedom - his sense of duty would always come first (take O-Sei San’s experience as an example). Also, I think an individual’s relationship history should be of less priority when it comes to considering one as a national hero, given that Rizal’s relationship history was not that bad. Although relationships reflect the character of a person, Jose Rizal’s contributions to our nation outweighs his hits and misses in his relationships and his track record bears much greater weight, too. 2) Among the women who had relationships with Rizal, I think Josephine Bracken complimented him in his mission for the country. Though Rizal’s women were never against Rizal’s patriotic mission (according to our lesson), what made me think that Josephine Bracken suited him best in his mission for his country was when she joined the KKK after Rizal’s execution (according to our past lessons). She was already courageous enough to still be involved with Rizal amidst Rizal’s trial in 1896. What made her different among Rizal’s women was that she contributed to freeing the country - working with Aguinaldo and Paciano in the KKK, after Rizal died. Jospehine Bracken could have left the country after the death of Rizal but she fought for the country instead. Perhaps, since they were in love, their principles aligned and that was a way of honoring Rizal. Through that way, Josephine Bracken exhibited selflessness, like Rizal. 3) Yes, I did. GARCIA (A01)

1. In my own opinion, if Rizal were to live at present he would still be considered as our national hero because he had contributed a lot to our beloved country and he is also one of the reasons of our freedom today. Knowing his hits and misses in relationships, it is not stated that our national hero should be a one-woman man but should be a man of pacifist orientation and possess a great love to our country, which Rizal possesses. Even though he made a lot of girls cries, he loves his mother and siblings like no other. Some of us made a lot of mistakes in our life just like Pepe, some people are worse than him, some has not only break twelve hearts but more than Rizal. No one is perfect and no one will ever be, we will always have our flaws. What important is we know our limits and when to stop. For me, Rizal will still be considered as our hero despite his wrong doings in life, because he possesses a great love for his country and willing to risk his life for his own people. 2. For me, the woman that would complement his mission for his country is Leonor Rivera. Leonor is a native of Camiling, Tarlac and has a nickname "Taimis". Although they are second cousin, I believed that she is the best woman to complement Rizal. Even though Rizal was somehow a bit playboy, they were together for eleven long years, she is considered as Jose Rizal's true love. She kept him from falling in love with other women. Pepe made Leonor Rivera as an inspiration in his life's work. Also, she was the Maria Clara in Rizal's famous novel Noli Me Tangere. Rizal did not forget Leonor even though she is married with someone else, he even included her in his novels. A man who is seriously in love can do a lot of wonderful things. Rizal made her as a tool to write his piece of work that would awaken the Filipinos. 3. Yes. (Tabafunda, A06)

1. Rizal, an mysterious person of the past, would undoubtedly still be revered as a national hero if he were alive today. While some may attempt to tarnish his reputation by focusing on his personal relationships, it is crucial to recognize that his contributions far outweigh any shortcomings in his love life. Rizal's intellectual skills and unyielding dedication to the Philippine independence movement remain undeniable. His literary masterpieces, "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo," ignited a flame of nationalism and shed light on the oppressive Spanish colonial regime. Through his writings, he fearlessly exposed the injustices suffered by his fellow countrymen, fostering a sense of unity and awakening the spirit of resistance. It is essential to acknowledge that Rizal existed in a different era, bound by different social norms and conventions. Holding him to contemporary standards is unjust, as it fails to consider the context of his time. Rizal's lasting impact on Philippine history, his unwavering courage, and his unrelenting pursuit of freedom firmly establish his position as a national hero. His legacy continues to inspire generations, emphasizing the importance of education, social justice, and a unified nation. Rizal's heroism transcends personal matters, cementing his place in the hearts and minds of the Filipino people. 2. Leonor Rivera, a woman who stood by Jose Rizal's side, emerges as a remarkable figure who would have beautifully complemented his mission for his beloved country. Her presence in his life was more than just a romantic connection; it was a union of hearts driven by a shared vision of emancipation. Leonor Rivera possessed a fiery spirit of patriotism, igniting the same fervor in Rizal's heart. Her unwavering dedication to the cause of social and political reform in the Philippines was a beacon of strength for Rizal. Together, they would have formed an unbreakable alliance, an unwavering force ready to challenge the status quo. Beyond her deep love for her country, Leonor Rivera exuded resilience and determination, qualities that mirrored Rizal's own indomitable spirit. In the face of adversity, her unwavering support would have fortified Rizal, pushing him to new heights in his pursuit of justice and freedom. Leonor Rivera's intellect and profound understanding of literature and the arts were the perfect match for Rizal's intellectual brilliance. Engaging in thought-provoking conversations, their minds would have collided, sparking intellectual fireworks that could have kindled groundbreaking ideas for their nation. In essence, Leonor Rivera's intelligence, patriotism, strength, and intellectual compatibility would have melded seamlessly with Rizal's aspirations, creating an unstoppable duo that would have propelled their mission for the country forward. Together, they could have altered the course of history, leaving an indelible mark on the struggle for Philippine independence. Lalap, A18

1) Jose Rizal would still be considered a national hero if he were to live at present. His contributions to Philippine society and culture are numerous and significant, such as his novels Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo which exposed the injustices and abuses suffered by Filipinos under Spanish colonial rule. His writings also inspired the Philippine Revolution against Spain, which eventually led to the country's independence. Rizal's life and works continue to be studied and celebrated in the Philippines and around the world. Despite his personal flaws and shortcomings, his significant contributions to Philippine history and culture do not diminish. His ideas on nationalism, colonialism, and social justice remain relevant and timely, particularly in light of current issues and challenges faced by the country. Rizal's status as a national hero is well-deserved and likely to endure. 2) Leonor Rivera was Jose Rizal's childhood sweetheart and first love. She was also the inspiration for the character of Maria Clara in Rizal's novel, Noli Me Tangere. While their relationship did not end in marriage, Leonor played a significant role in Rizal's life and mission for his country. She inspired Rizal's dedication to his studies and his desire for social reform, and supported his advocacy for Philippine independence. Rizal's letters to Leonor contained references to his studies, and in one letter, he even wrote that he wished to become a doctor to alleviate the sufferings of his countrymen. Leonor was also one of the few people who knew about Rizal's activities and writings, and she encouraged him to continue his work. It was Leonor who received the manuscript of Noli Me Tangere and smuggled it into the Philippines. In summary, Leonor Rivera complemented Rizal's mission for his country by being a source of inspiration, support, and encouragement, which helped shape his ideas and writings that eventually inspired the Philippine Revolution and the country's eventual independence. 3) YES Hermosa (A18)

1. For me, if Jose Rizal were to live at the present, I think he would not be considered as our national hero. Why? It is because past is very different compared on today's life. There are plenty of Filipinos that have achieved their goals and some of them have already finished their studies by having a very good grades. Some students have already finished their studies abroad and is still studying abroad to finish their studies just like Jose Rizal. I also say that if Jose Rizal was living on our present life, he is just a normal student who wants to finished his studies even though he will study abroad. Today's life is very different. Some of the difficulties on the past is now easy when it comes today. But since Jose Rizal was born on the past, I think that is his reason to be born. To be our National Hero. 2. For me, among the women who had relationships with Jose Rizal, I think that the one who would complement Jose Rizal in his mission for his country is Suzanne Jacoby. It is because she is the one who showed her greatest love and dedication for Jose Rizal. Also, as she showed her greatest love and dedication, I can say that she will support Jose Rizal's journey for our country. As they not end up together, Suzanne Jacoby is the one that I chose that will complement and support Jose Rizal's mission and journey for our country. 1.) As said in the video, nobody's perfect. Even Rizal wasn't perfect. He can easily fall in love, but maybe in the end, they were not just made for each other that's why his past relationships did not work. He can still consider as our national hero because despite him, being considered a "playboy", his love for his country is still his priority. His nationalism is still very eminent. He was able to awaken the Filipinos on how to fight for our country's liberty. 2.) I think it would be Leonor Rivera that would compliment Rizal in his mission for his country. Leonor, being Rizal's forst and one true love, her feelings for Rizal was likewise, mutual. Leonor loved Rizal so much and maybe if they ended up with each other, she will be very supportive of whatever Jose Rizal was planning then. 1) If Jose Rizal lived today, it's difficult to say whether he would still be regarded as a national hero. On the one hand, Rizal's contributions to Philippine history are undeniable, including his writings that challenged Spanish colonialism and inspired the Philippine revolution. Rizal's personal life, however, was not without flaws, including affairs with several women. Public figures are held to a higher standard of personal conduct in today's society. Rizal's extramarital affairs, if revealed, could harm his reputation and diminish his hero status. However, it is important to note that Rizal's heroism was not founded on his personal relationships. His contributions to Philippine society and dedication to social justice earned him the title of national hero. Lastly, whether or not Rizal is still regarded as a national hero today is not for me to say. Regardless of his personal flaws, I believe that his contributions to Philippine history, as well as his ideas of nationalism and social justice, are still relevant today and should be remembered and celebrated. 2) Among the women Rizal had relationships with, I believe Leonor Rivera would help him with his mission for his country. Leonor was Rizal's childhood sweetheart and the inspiration for the character Maria Clara in his novel "Noli Me Tangere." Their love story was one of the most important influences in Rizal's life, and Leonor was a constant source of support for him. Rizal's emotional anchor, Leonor, also shared his passion for education and social reform. She was born into a wealthy and influential family and could have led a comfortable life, but she chose to support Rizal's endeavors and his mission for his country. Leonor even assisted Rizal in his activities, such as sending money to support the La Liga Filipina and allowing the organization to use her home as a meeting place. Overall, Leonor Rivera's persistent support for Rizal's vision, as well as her readiness to assist him in realizing it, make her a great complement to Rizal's purpose for his country. 3) YES MARTINEZ, A18

1. Rizal is Rizal himself given all the talents and capabilities he has; he is a man of work full of words and wisdom towards his fellow Filipinos. If Rizal was still alive, despite knowing his background with his numerous relationships with at least 18 women, I think he would still be considered a national hero. We cannot deny the fact that Rizal has a lot of women that he used to flirt, love, court, and hurt. But this does not change him for what he is, a child to his mother, a sibling to his sisters, a man to the woman, and a hero for our country. His love for his country does not fade nor erased, not like his relationships that go away so easily. He still is considered a national hero because of his intelligence, talents, and skills. Let us not forget how Rizal paved the way to give us freedom with his goodness. Rizal during his time was very brave and had been very vocal against the Spanish government but in a peaceful and intelligent way. "The pen was mightier than the sword" for him, and he left a legacy in his writings, particularly the two novels, Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo in which he revealed the corruption and indiscretions of government officials and Spanish friars, which served as a wake-up call to Filipinos that now is the time to fight for their independence. He did it for us if his death was the key to unleashing the blaze. Despite his history in his relationships, Rizal will always be remembered for his compassion for the Filipino people and country, and he will always be known as our national hero. 2. Based on what I have learned and from my perspective, I think most of Rizal’s women like Leonor Rivera, Gertrude Beckett, Nelly Bousted, and Josephine Bracken will compliment him in his mission for his country. But one stood out for me and that is Gertrude Beckett, for me, Gertrude is a type of woman who shows her love for someone through service. When something was going on between her and Rizal, she did not fail to shower his full attention on him, assisting Rizal with his works such as paintings and sculptures. Including, Prometheus Bound, The Triumph of Death over Life, and The Triumph of Science Over Death. What makes me think of her? It's because, based on her actions, I believe she will be proud of him, because she was able to do something like that, and she has already seen part of Rizal's work succeed, therefore I believe she will commend Rizal on his mission. She was not only deeply in love with Rizal, but also a staunch supporter of him. They did not have a happy ending because Rizal never reciprocated her love. But aside from that, although Gertrude failed to be loved by Rizal, she did not fail to show his genuine love for Rizal. I see Gertrude that it is not all about how many years you’re together, even if it’s first or last love. It will not all matter because if she truly adores Rizal, she will compliment him because of how dedicated she is, what more if she knows Rizal’s mission for our country, bet she will love him even more. In addition, Gertrude is the only woman who has nothing to do with family, mission or religious matters towards accomplishing love for Rizal, but unluckily Rizal is the one who did not attempt to take it into a serious relationship. 3.Yes BALDOVINO, A07

1) I believe that if Rizal were to live at the present time, he might still have the chance to be considered as a National Hero. The reason being that what he did for the country is different from his affairs and relationships. Fighting for the country is a different matter compared to his personal affairs and relationship. Although if he were to live in present time he might face a lot of critics due to these issues. People nowadays tend to judge a person on the mistakes they make rather than the good accomplishments they did, which is why I think Rizal might have a bit of problem on becoming a national hero in present time. The generation from today and from his generation are way different in terms of their own personal beliefs and their own views on which mistakes are tolerable. Rizal's generation thinks that having affair is normal for a man to have and is not deemed a great mistake rather than they think its only mere child's play for men to do and is normal. However, today's generation does not tolerate cheating and or having affairs with another, most if not all are judged by people of today's generation and some even face charges in court and pay fines. Moreover, I think Rizal still has a chance to become a National Hero in present time due to his contributions in the country and people may overlook his faults because of what he did for the freedom of Philippines. 2) Answering this question based on my observation from what I have just watched, I can reckon that Josephine Bracken will be the woman to make him feel about his accomplishments and successes that he has done for the country, why? Apart from being the last person for Rizal to love it is simply because when they were planning to do their marriage, a Priest namely, Father Antonio Obach, told Rizal to retract all of his words or stories about what really happened, but even if Josephine for sure wanted to have a wedding, she didn’t bother to push nor pressure Rizal, instead, Josephine, settled in a live-in setup which made their bond stronger as if they were joined by Christ. By learning this, it only shows how she loves Rizal, beyond anything else and despite how the situation contradicts for them, it did not hinder Josephine. Now, if that’s not love and support, I do not know what is. 3) Yes Meranio (A06)

1. Yes, I believe Rizal would still be hailed a national hero despite his relationship missteps. Because Rizal, like the rest of us, is a flawed human who makes mistakes. Despite the fact that he has harmed many women, his works Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo have awoken the sleeping Pilipinos. Jose Rizal was the spark that ignited a revolt to free our people from Spanish rule. Despite his numerous affairs, Jose Rizal respected and loved his mother and showed compassion and goodness to his sisters. Jose Rizal showed goodness to all the women he likes it’s just that he could not be contented and love only one person. Jose Rizal is just an ordinary person like us who is not perfect a person who can be attracted and tempted to a lot of things. And that is why I think Rizal would still be considered as a national hero. 2. For me, I think the one who would complement Jose Rizal in his mission for the country will be the wife material which is Nelly Boustead. Because who would not complement her partner if he had accomplished something. Especially like the mission which Jose Rizal completed freeing the Pilipinos from the Spaniards. Also, Nelly Boustead is head over heels to Jose Rizal so after doing a heroic deed like accomplishing a great mission I assume that Nelly Boustead would complement Jose Rizal. Julia, The first love and first heartbreak when it comes to romance Segunda Katigbak, The secret love Leonor Valenzuela, The true love Leonor Rivera, The crush ng bayan Consuelo Ortiga, The tour guide O-Sei San, The partner in crime Gertrude Beckette, The fling Suzane Jacoby, and The last love Josephine Bracken, Among all of them I think the one who would complement Rizal after giving freedom to the Philippines is the one and only Nelly Boustead. 3. 1.) I believe that Rizal, would still be considered as our national hero regardless of his relationships with a lot of women. To be perfectly straight no hero is perfect, these heroes are also humans and they do make mistakes. I believe that Rizal had a lot of relationship because he cannot fully love just one person, meaning that Rizal loves all of them. Beside from having a lot of relationship, Rizal didn’t get distracted with his main goal. In fact, they served as an inspiration to Rizal. 2.) I believe that Josephine Bracken was the best fit to complement the works of Dr. Jose Rizal. As said on the video the priest demanded Rizal to take down his works so that the priest can marry them, but Rizal never did such things. So, it concluded that Josephine Bracken knew the importance of Rizal’s work and decided to just stay as a live-in partner. This decision later then helps Rizal in the revolution. The relationship that Rizal had with Josephine was an understanding relationship, because Josephine could also help Rizal with his mission. 3.) Yes Librea (A06)

1. If Dr. Jose Rizal were to live in the present I still think that he will still be considered as the Philippines' national hero. Dr. With the advancements of technology during our times, Dr. Jose Rizal will have a hard time being our National Hero as times now are very different from his time. The spread of information and even different misinformation are fast tracked thanks to the internet and different social media websites and applications. During our time today, infidelity and cheating are a very serious offense towards a persons personality and integrity. He will receive different judgements and hard words coming from the people. Despite his mistakes and lack of judgement the fact that Dr. Jose Rizal paved the way towards our freedom and inspired the Filipino people to fight for their future and different injustices remains. Jose Rizal may be imperfect but so are every other Filipino living in this world of ours. 2. Among the women who had relationships with Dr. Jose Rizal, I personally think that either Gertrude Beckette and Nelly Boustead would best complement him in his mission for his country. Nelly Boustead was the wife material among his lovers and would be a great support in times of hardships for Dr. Jose Rizal and being a British Filipino she still considers herself as a Filipino therefor also showing the love for the Philippines both Dr. Jose Rizal and her share. Nelly Boustead Dr. Jose Rizal's partner in crime would also be a great partner for Dr. Jose Rizal as she loved him so much that he gives him much attention and more than normal assistance which would be perfect in helping Dr. Jose Rizal in his works. The only problem with Gertrude Beckette was that according to sources, Dr. Jose Rizal never reciprocated her love and what good is a partner if you do not love the person therefore creating problems along the way. 3. 1.) In my opinion, he would still be considered the national hero of the Philippines even though he was known a player when it comes to women because being a player does not make Jose Rizal not a hero who contributed a big role in making the Filipino inspired to fight for their freedom. It's a different issue, being a player is wrong however, when a person have done wrong things we should not forget the good things that he/she already done because no one is perfect. All of us have done wrong things in our life but we all continue to improve ourselves and show our capability in things that we want to do because we want to achieve our goals and dream in life. The same with our National hero, Jose Rizal do good things that contributed freedom to Filipinos that's why he can be still our national hero. 2.) In my opinion, the girl that help him in his mission was Leonor Rivera because Jose Rizal included her in his works as Maria Clara in Noli Me Tangere. Jose Rizal was so in love in this girl and this girl is always in the mind of Jose Rizal and she became a character to his work where this girl was loved by the main character. This girl help Jose Rizal to became one of the main characters in Jose Rizal's work Noli Me Tangere in which there are a lot of scenes in Noli Me Tangere that shows the injustice of the Spaniards back then. 3.) 1) If Rizal lives at present, even knowing his track record and his hits and misses in his relationships, still Rizal would be considered as a national hero. Main reason is that he is willing to fight back for what is good, not for personal interest but for the common good. Unlike other people that have bad or terrible past, still their self only they would consider. Another, it is not a reason for not being qualified to be hero if a person has bad records. Relationships are big sides of life and it is natural to have a relationship on what the person’s eye and heart truly seek. Also, he has works that truly speaks only the truth and not just hollow words that could definitely mistook for granted just like a relationship. Rizal and everyone can live their lives on their own and these are their choices to make and not on the people surrounds them. Many can judge him but not all of them are have the will to do what he has done for his fellow countrymen. For some, these ups and downs in relationship could bring them despair but for some these will be the foundation and use it to look forward in their lives. 2) Among the women whom Rizal had, I think that would complement his mission for his country is Josephine Bracken. Because I think that they both know the risk of being caught on having a lived-in relationship and this will affect their reputation foremost. Unlike the other women whom Rizal had relationship with, Josephine complements his mission after all Josephine give birth to their child but unfortunately, it became the of their unhappy relationship. But if this will look in other perspective this will be reason for Rizal to fulfill his life as a man who definitely have an eagerness to have freedom, not only for themselves but for their child also. Think of it as a reward for all of his hard work from the start of his mission until the end and he will see that his sacrifices bear fruit. Also, I think that Josephine Bracken that would complement his mission because I believe that the last one or your last destination of relation will surely give a person a long-lasting assurance that he /she have a meaningful life as he / she lives on. 3) Yes po. 1. If Rizal were to live in this present time, obviously he won’t contribute much compared to what he did before during his time. But if we are going to focus on the question that if he will still be considered a national hero after all his track records and fail relationships, I personally think that he can still be considered a national hero. After all he is still a normal person who can commit a mistake in life, his failures in relationship does not pass over his contributions for our country. I’m think that every single relationship that he had was a lesson for him, it may be a life lesson but definitely it helped him to what he'd become. His patriotism, courage and bravery are stands out. I am not tolerating Rizal’s act of being a womanizer, but if it will cause his contributions for the country, I don’t think so. Also, the requirements of being a national hero does not need to be a loyal person to one girl, that is why Rizal can still be our national hero. 2. Rizal surely has a long list when it terms of girls. But for me there is two girls that I am leaning towards on who would compliment Rizal in his mission for the country. The first is Gertrude Beckette the partner in crime of Jose Rizal, even though Rizal did not reciprocate his love towards her, Gertrudes relationship with Rizal is a great one. They made a lot of sculptures and paintings together, and in terms of helping Rizal for freedom, they would make a great team. The other women that I lean towards is Leonor Rivera, Rizal’s True love. I am sure that Leonora alone is a big inspiration for Rizal on whatever he does. Sadly, the relationship of the two couples ended due to the parents’ hindrance towards them. In summary if I am going to choose one on the two, I am leaning more towards Leonor Rivera. The essence of being true and in love with some one will be a great way to be inspired. 3. 1.)For me, Dr. Jose Rizal should still be considered our national hero despite his unpleasant dating history. All of which dating experiences Rizal had is quite normal actually considering he went to different places and most of the time it was either he or his lovers were unavailable due to different circumstances. Rizal can be considered as a ''playboy'' or '' promiscuous'' by many, especially with his stint in Europe but still, he was loyal to his mission and purpose. He even said that once a month of amusement is enough when asked by his companion which shows how disciplined person Dr. Jose Rizal was. All in all, I think Dr. Jose Rizal surely was not a perfect person his love affairs also happen to normal people with normal lives and he did not do any horrible atrocities like rape, slavery, etc. 2.)For me Leonor Rivera would be the best fit and certainly compliments his mission for the country. Leonor Rivera was his greatest love and she displayed loyalty to him. Loyalty is one, if not the most important trait a person should have especially when going against powerful and dangerous rulers. Dr. Jose Rizal's life because of his undying love for our country was meant to be dangerous because he chose to reveal atrocities, injustice, corruption, exploitation, and racism the Spaniards are perpetrating towards the Filipinos for hundreds of years of colonization. So for me, Leonor Rivera's love and loyalty complimented Rizal the most. 3.)YES

1. For me if he lives in the present times, he can still be our national hero, but I think it will be hard to declare him as our national hero because of some reasons. I noticed that issues in the Philippines was always a big deal for some Filipinos, and media can always destroy someone’s reputations. If Rizal’s relationships were published by the media, it would destroy Rizal’s reputation even though he gives so many contributions to this country. That is the sad reality of our country, your fellow countryman will bring you down and will turn a blind eye with the good deeds that you make. We live in a democratic country that is why our government will follow what the majority says, and I think if he has some issues just like that all the Filipino will disagree to declare him as our national hero. 2. I think it would be Gertrude Beckette because as stated in the video lecture she is his partner in crime, she gave Rizal more-than normal assistance, also she showered him will all attention, and she assisted Rizal in his paintings and sculptures. We can see that she is like a follower of Rizal, and she will do everything for Rizal. I think she will just agree with all the things that Rizal wants to do. That is why I think she will complement Rizal in his mission in our country. I’ve seen in some movies that a girl like that doesn’t care about the things that may happen, and their top priority is to make their lovers to be happy. 3. Yes (Zaguirre, A18)

1.) It depends. Just because I think that Jose Rizal really thrived on living his life with purpose. He was driven to do his best on exploring and learning the means on how other country was free and spirited. Moreover ever since he was a child, he was exposed to an environment where his clan and countrymen are being visibly oppressed and treated with injustice. I think that that is a large factor on how Jose Rizal became who he was as an adult. On the other side, I will not know how Jose Rizal will act if he is alive today, when we live in a time where there is much less Spanish influence and oppression that is happening in our country, and that is why I answered it depends. I can't speculate on his actions. It doesn't matter even if he has a straight academic record because I believe that humans are complex beings. Academic achievements, social attitude, social relationships are just components/indicators, and we will never know what is on a person's mind. However, if he happens to be still as driven as ever, he has a high chance to be worth a national hero on today's world. 2.) I think the woman who would've helped Rizal the most was Gertrude Beckett just because of her dedication to him. She showered Jose Rizal with attention and assistance, and it was shown and recorded when she and Jose Rizal finished the sculptures, "Prometheus Bond", "Triumph of Death over Life", and "Triumph of Science over Death". I think that with how much time Gertrude has given to Jose Rizal, she would not have hesitate to travel with him, and eventually even help him in his mission. One important point is that Jose Rizal didn't even reciprocated her feelings and dedication, but even still, she still fought for him and loved him. One can't help to wonder what would've happen if Jose Rizal reciprocated her feelings. 3.) Yes -Fontanilla(A06)

1) It's hard to know how Jose Rizal would be considered today if he were still alive, because the cultural context where he lived has changed a lot since his time. Despite of what known flaws or failures in his personal life, Rizal will probably still be considered a national hero. Rizal made numerous and major contributions to Philippine culture and society. He was an important figure in the Philippine Revolution and a leading advocate of the country's freedom from Spanish colonial control. Many historical characters who are viewed as heroes had complicated personal lives, and it is possible to appreciate and honor their contributions to society while also noting their failings as individuals. Rizal may receive the "Cancel Culture" if he's seen with a lot of ladies. But, in my opinion, that's not much of a big thing to not see him as a national hero just because of that. 2) During his life, Rizal was believed to have had relationships to multiple women. Each of these women had their own particular characteristics and traits that might have potentially complemented his mission for the Philippines. But, in my opinion, it was Leonor Rivera, who had the largest influence. Leonor Rivera is believed to have been the inspiration for Maria Clara in Rizal's popular writings Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo. Both books serve or play an important role in the Philippines' awakening and fight to the unfair and unjust regulations of the Spanish people. 3) Yes (Mendoza, A18)

1.) We know this issue about Rizal having many lovers and having lovers at the same time but this issue might not arise. It is just that he was popular that many people will dig up your past where his name will become tarnished. Rizal's status as a national hero is based on factors other than his personal relationships, such as his contributions to Philippine literature, his advocacy for reforms in the Spanish colonial government, and his dedication to the ideals of freedom, democracy, and national identity. These contributions are widely acknowledged and celebrated in the Philippines, and they have had a significant impact on the nation's history and culture. It will be different if it was exposed nowadays because people in this generation are really fond of leaking this kind of issue on social media and other social media users will look at you like you're some trash they will disregard whatever good things you did but only what you did wrong. 2.) Leonor Rivera will be very proud of Rizal for every achievement he does. She supports Rizal in his literary and political pursuits. She even faithfully loved Rizal long distance it is just her mother that opposed them being together. Leonor Rivera was Rizal's true love. Suzanne Jacoby will be proud also because she is willing to travel with Rizal just to be with him she really really loves Rizal that she wrote a love letter for Rizal even though there is no response from him. Rizal's last lover will also be proud of him, Josephine Bracken for a number of reasons, such as his contributions to Philippine literature and culture, his advocacy for reforms in the Spanish colonial government, and his dedication to the ideals of freedom, democracy, and national identity. After his death she joined the KKK revolution and kill for Rizal and for our country I don't think that bravery is for nothing but because he really loves Rizal. 3.) YES.

Pangilinan, A18 1. Dr. Jose Rizal is a national hero in the Philippines because he helped fight against Spanish rule during the Philippine Revolution. If Rizal were alive today, some people might look at his personal relationships and actions and make judgments about them. But it's important to remember that Rizal made important and far-reaching contributions to Philippine society and the Philippine Revolution. Filipinos were inspired to fight for their freedom by Rizal's ideas and writings, which stressed the importance of education, the need for national unity, and the dignity of the Filipino people. Rizal's books, such as "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo," showed how the Spanish colonial authorities were unfair and abusive, which woke up the Filipinos' national consciousness. In the end, Rizal's services to Philippine society and the Philippine Revolution are still important, no matter how he treated other people or treated himself. Because of this, if he were still alive today, he would probably still be seen as a national hero. 2. Throughout his existence, Dr. Jose Rizal had relationships with multiple women, each of whom played a significant role in his personal and intellectual development. Nonetheless, if we were to choose a woman who complimented him on his mission for his country, Josephine Bracken comes to mind. Irish-born Josephine Bracken arrived in the Philippines in 1895 and became Rizal's companion during his final years. Despite the fact that their relationship was fleeting, she had a significant impact on Rizal's life and work. When Rizal met Josephine, he was already a well-known writer and advocate for reform. Nonetheless, he had become disillusioned with the revolutionary movement's atrocities and believed that the Philippines had no future. The advent of Josephine in his life rekindled his optimism and hope, and he discovered a renewed sense of purpose in his work. Josephine supported Rizal's ideals and shared his vision for an independent and liberated Philippines. She was also instrumental in assisting Rizal in completing his final novel, "My Final Goodbye," and provided emotional support during his final days. 3. Yes.

1) Yes, even though Dr. Jose Rizal had many women in his life, he is just an ordinary person like others. Like others, they have personal lives, secrets, and work, but they have boundaries in working and personal life. Dr. Jose Rizal promised Paciano that he would follow Paciano's request and not let him down. Dr. Jose Rizal did it, and he met people around the world who guided him to the new country. But still, even though he had many girls, he was still focused on writing to free the Filipinos from the Spaniards. Dr. Jose Rizal is the man hurt by his first love and decided not to break his heart anymore. He wants the people around him to be happy, especially with the girls. He is still a national hero who fought for our country Philippines, to be free from the Spaniards. Dr. Jose Rizal's way of working was writing his novels and working hard until it was published. He did not use blood to fight for the Spaniards because it was not the way of Dr. Jose Rizal. That made him a national hero by protecting the Filipino people to not go to war with the Friars. 2) Leonor Rivera is the most candidate that would complement Dr. Jose Rizal in doing his mission in our country because she was her first love. Leonor remained faithful even though he was in another country in Europe. Dr. Rizal tried to contact her by writing letters to communicate, But Leonor's mother, Slyvestra Bauson. She kept letters to Rizal to hide from her daughter because she didn't want a filibustero to be married to his daughter. That is why Leonor Rivera gave up her love for Dr. Jose Rizal, and she was married to the English engineer Henry Kipping. Leonor Rivera supported Dr. Jose Rizal right from the beginning because she trusted him, and Rizal recited a poem after being beaten up by the Spanish students. They shared the same passion for education, and Leonor helped Rizal in his life. She is so persistent and faithful that it would complement Dr. Jose Rizal's mission in the Philippines to regain freedom against the Spaniards. 3) Yes Llegado, B43

Ricamara, A18 Jose Rizal to have linked with a lot of women in his days. He was only sixteen years old when he went to Europe to further his studies. Even before he went to Europe, he was already meeting women and linking up with them; one of them was Segunda Katigbak who was fourteen years old at the time while he was sixteen years old. He went on and traveled to a lot of different countries in different continents and met a lot of women. Although it might not be ideal that he’s always getting involved with different women wherever he goes, we cannot blame him since he’s only just a normal person who gets attracted to someone nice and caring towards him. Living in today’s time and generation, I think his dating history would be questionable but being a romantic and his life as a man doesn’t define him as a whole. He is also a son who took great care of his mother, a brother who shows love and compassion towards his sisters and brother, and a countryman who served his country and offered up most of his life trying to liberate and awoke the senses of thousands of Filipinos from our oppressors. His infidelity has nothing to do with his patriotism. When it comes to the woman who was the most helpful in Rizal’s mission for his country, I would say that Gertrude Beckett was the most compatible with him. They met when Rizal was traveling in Europe and they were very compatible in terms of academic intelligence as Gertrude and he finished a sculpture together like “Prometheus Bound”, “Triumph of Death over Life”, and “Triumph of Science over Death”. She would assist him in paintings and sculptures and I think that shows that if Rizal had reciprocated the same amount of caring and compassion that she had for him, she would have done anything she could just to help out Rizal with his plans for the Philippines. She was very smart and I have no doubt that she would’ve been helpful and would have contributed to Rizal’s inspiration and work. Yes

1.) In my opinion personal relationships does not really affect who you will be as a person in the future. If Rizal were to live at present, these relationships would not be crucial in choosing him as a national hero. What matters is what Rizal will do for his country, what accomplishments he made, and how he treat other people. If Rizal were to live at present he might not be considered as a national hero as the situation currently at present are not being threatened by other countries, and Rizal would have no reason of his self sacrifice for the country. If the situation back before he died were to happen to the country and Rizal is alive in the present I think that he will be a national hero regardless of the multiple relationships he had. Rizal's determination is enough to free the Philippines and he is probably not someone who will be swayed by social media. 2.) Among the women that had a relationship with Rizal, I think that the woman who would most complement him is Nelly Boustead and Leonor Rivera. If I were to choose for Rizal I would choose Leonor for her amazing loyalty, but for the question Nelly Boustead is an amazing partner and a great wife to Rizal. Rizal had to court Nelly Boustead seriously and defended her from Antonio Luna's unsavory remarks, this shows that Rizal is very concerned and interested on her wellbeing and feelings. Nelly Boustead was an emotionally reserved woman, and that lead to discouraging Rizal from speaking his love for her. If Rizal was not on a mission to free his country or is fine to convert to another religion she would be the best wife that will complement him really well. Rizal's love would have persisted if he is not carrying the burden of freeing the Philippines from the shackles of the Spaniards colonialization. 3.) Yes Cajucom (A07)

1) Yes, I think Rizal can be considered as a national hero even though he has a lot of hits and misses in his relationship. Having a lot of relationship in the past doesn't define Rizal's heroism. He may be considered as a Dakilang Hokage but in my own opinion, he uses it as an inspiration. Although Jose Rizal is a extra-romantic man, he respect and took care of his mother. Safety and being a good brother is what Rizal gave to his sisters. 2) I think Josephine Bracken. Rizal was physically attracted to her. His loneliness and boredom must have taken the measure of him and what could be a better diversion that to fall in love again. Rizal asked Josephine to marry him, but she was not yet ready to make a decision due to her responsibility to the blind Taufer. Since Taufer’s blindness was untreatable, he left for Hon Kong on March 1895. Josephine stayed with Rizal’s family in Manila. Upon her return to Dapitan, Rizal tried to arrange with Father Antonio Obach for their marriage. However, the priest wanted a retraction as a precondition before marrying them. Rizal upon the advice of his family and friends and with Josephine’s consent took her as his wife even without the Church blessings. 1. Ofcourse, as long as he did not do any bad thing to the women he loved. What I mean with bad thing or things are like hitting them, torturing them, using them for his own sake those kind of situations will be really a big deal nowadays as women empowerment and women rights will be at sake also. But considering someone as a national hero only focuses somehow on how that person provided or helped his or her own country that is the sole basis of considering someone as a national hero. As long as you respected the woman you encountered and made relationships with it doesn’t really matter like what I have said it will only be a problem if he stepped on any women right but I believe Rizal is just really the type of guy who is carefree on expressing himself to others especially to women that also makes him attractive. Being respectful at all time in all people is one of the categories of considering a national hero in my opinion. 2. For Me, it will be his true love as it says on the video lecture which is Leonor Rivera which he became sweetheart with for 11 years if not only because of her Mother, I believe she will be Mrs. Rizal because of her faithfulness to Rizal and she even supported Rizal when he was studying in Europe. For some reasons I believe that Rizal and Leonor Rivera truly loves each other. Maria Clara the character from Rizal’s novel Noli Me Tangere is Leonor Rivera in real life, if you read the book its most likely that you will feel how Rizal felt when he met Leonor and what he felt the moment he knew she was already married to someone else. As how much Leonor loves Rizal I believe she will always be by his side throughout his mission supporting and helping Rizal, As a wife and a women. In today’s era the power of women is so strong, that practices that deceive women should not be ignored. It was also mentioned in the video lecture that he used to put two women in a relationship at the same time, this is not acceptable especially in our society today. Women empowerment nowadays is one of the most important rights fought for by many women in our society today. 2. Among the woman who had relationships with Dr. Jose Rizal, I think Leonor Rivera is the one who would complement him in his mission for his country. 1. A timeless quotation by our national hero, that still has meaning and significance for our generation. Apart from being the Philippines' national hero, Jose Rizal was also regarded as the First Filipino, the Pride of the Malayan Race, and the Greatest Malayan, among other titles. The government, are making active efforts to promote Rizal's culture and principles in order to cultivate good moral character, personal discipline, and civic consciousness. By understanding the significance of Rizal's life and deeds, today's youth can rediscover the greatness of our national hero with fresh eyes. Rizal's contribution to science and literature was his diligence. Rizal died at the young age of 35, and he could not have accomplished all of his achievements if he had not spent his days working. Rizal understood that success and competence came only after hard labor and patience. It fueled Rizal's passion for family, and he maintained contact with them. 2. Josephine Bracken. Rizal encountered an 18-year-old small Irish girl with bold blue eyes, brown hair, and a joyful demeanor in the closing days of February 1895, while still in Dapitan. Josephine Bracken, the Hong Kong-born adopted daughter of George Taufer, arrived in Dapitan to seek eye treatment in Rizal. On December 30, 1896, Josephine and Rizal met for the last time in the latter's cell in Fort Santiago. Fr. Francis married the couple in Catholic rituals. Victor Balaguer, two hours before Rizal was executed at Bagumbayan. Josephine, escorted by Paciano and Trinidad Rizal, invaded insurgent territory in Cavite after his execution. They were received by Andres Bonifacio, who received a copy of the hero's final poem, the Mi Ultimo Adios, from the Rizals. Rizal was attracted to her on a physical level. However, the Rizal sisters accused Josephine of being a spy for the friars and saw her as a threat. 3. Yes. (PINEDA, A06)

1. For me, even if Doctor Jose Rizal were to live at present time, he will still be considered as our national hero, because first the track records in the previous relationships is not a parameter of being a national hero. Second, his hits and misses in his past relationships do not have anything to do to the fact that Doctor Jose Rizal helps us to gain freedom against the Spanish. What I want to say is that when we remove the fact that Doctor Jose Rizal is a "womanizer" or having many failed relationships, he is still the one that lit the heroism to our countrymen to fight back against the Spaniards. Doctor Jose Rizal was still able to inspire and was able to express what he wants for our countrymen to do, even though he has many hits and misses in his relationship. Therefore, we can say that his track record of his relationships are irrelevant for him being our national hero. 2. For me, the woman that would complement in Doctor Jose Rizal's mission for our country would be Gertrude Beckette because she was really in love with our Doctor Jose Rizal. Based on the lecture, Gertrude Beckette assisted Doctor Jose Rizal in his paintings and sculptures, and therefore I think that she would really be a good help for Doctor Jose Rizal for his mission to our country. Gertrude Beckette could have assisted Doctor Jose Rizal in observing the other countries' culture and economy. Also, I assume that Gertrude Beckette knows a lot stories, especially historical stories, because she live near the British Museum, and because of that she could provide more knowledge to Dr. Jose Rizal about liberalism and how a country was able to gain their own freedom. Unlike the other women, Gertrude Beckette was exposed to many many travellers, since they have boarding house as a family business, which Dr. Jose Rizal and Gertrude Beckette might have encountered a person that would assist them more for Jose Rizal's mission. 3. 1) Even if Rizal had a number of problematic relationships with women, I think he would still be regarded as a national hero if he lived today. It will be harder and not easy process for Jose Rizal to become a national hero in today’s generation for the reason that a lot of people are judgmental especially when it comes to romantic relationships. I believe that the criteria for being a national hero is not only based on the personal life or romantic relationship, the most important qualities for heroes are being intelligent, hardworking, open-minded, encourages fellow compatriots and shows patriotism. 2) I believe the women who would complement him in his mission for his country is Josephine Bracken even though she was not extremely well educated, she was witty, quick, and eager to hear and listen everything Rizal had to say, and she was the woman who stayed with Rizal until his execution. After that, Josephine went to Cavite and joined the Kataastaasan, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan, where she cared for the wounded and sick and fought in battles in Cavite under Emilio Aguinaldo and was able to kill a Spanish officer. 3) Yes (Ortiz, A01)

1. In these modern times, I think he would be popular to women but not in a good way because he would be known as a "babaero". But I think that he would still be considered as a national hero because of his ways of serving the country like being the spark of the revolution and battling the Spaniards through his writings. Also Jose Rizal fits the criteria of being a national hero. 2. I think Gertrude Beckette would complement him in his mission for his country because she assisted Jose Rizal in many of his works. 3. yes

1. Rizal's track record in the realm of love is not ideal, but this should not preclude him from being called our national hero, in my opinion. First and foremost, our heroes are also ordinary people. They make mistakes and wrong choices in life. Further, nobody's perfect and at some point, we have all made mistakes that have caused others to suffer. Therefore, may we not pass judgment on one another based on what we see or hear. Instead, we gaze at their pure souls and compassion for others, just as Rizal did. He may have hurt countless women, but his love for his nation is also responsible for the freedom we have today. 2. After seeing the film, I realized Gertrude Beckette would be the ideal companion for Rizal in carrying out his objective for his nation. Why? Because I believe that her love for him is unconditional. She gave Rizal more than normal assistance, assisted in his paintings and sculptures, and lavished him with her undivided attention. A woman would go to any extent to make a man happy if she loves him more than she loves herself. She will be there for her partner whenever he needs her and will encourage him in whatever he wants to do in life. Consequently, she will stay by his side no matter what. Therefore, this is what makes Gertrude Beckette stand out among all the women Rizal had dated. 3. Yes. DELA CRUZ (A07)

1.) I still think that Dr. Jose Rizal would still be considered as the Philippines National Hero despite his many relationships towards women. Being a National Hero is not measured to how he handles his relationships, it is about how he led the country into a bright future. Dr. Jose Rizal fought for the rights of being a Filipino citizen and fought the rights of the country that he loves. There will be some that people will criticize him for being womanizer but that won’t affect his legacy here in the Philippines as a National Hero. Also, there were only a few women who really affect Rizal’s love to them and others are just being a friend only to Dr. Jose Rizal. With that being said, the relationships that Dr. Jose Rizal went in his life would not affect to him as a Philippine National Hero. Therefore, he would still be a National Hero at all. 2.) I think the woman who would complement Dr. Jose Rizal’s mission in Philippines is Leonor Rivera because she is the one great love of Dr. Jose Rizal. It was shown that Dr. Jose Rizal really that he is in love with Leonor Rivera when they met in Manila. It is also showed that Dr. Jose Rizal had kept falling in love with other women when he was in Europe and Leonor Rivera believed that Dr. Jose Rizal is not falling in love with other women in Europe. But, Leonor Rivera’s mother, Sylvestra Bauson is the reason why Dr. Jose Rizal and Leonor Rivera did not end up as a husband and wife due to Sylvestra did not liked Rizal and had to kept the letters that Dr. Jose Rizal sent to Leonor Rivera away from Leonor Rivera in order for Leonor Rivera to think that Dr. Jose Rizal did not love her anymore. If only Leonor Rivera’s mother approve Dr. Jose Rizal, then Dr. Jose Rizal would had married Leonor Rivera and maybe his mission in the Philippines would be greater than he had did in his tenure. 3.) 1. If Rizal were to live in the present, I think his relationships with a lot of women will spread quickly and many people in this generation will cancel him because of having many affairs with women. But I also believe some people will only look at his positive side which is being a hero in our country, developing growth in our country, and being a nationalistic person. People will have to criticize him if they will consider Jose Rizal a national hero, they will have to select the criteria on how to be considered a national hero. I think it will depend on the criteria they will create here at the present time whether Jose Rizal deserves to be considered a national hero despite having many affairs and being a playboy. For me, his works and achievements are a big deal for him to be considered as our national hero. 2. Each of the women Rizal was romantically involved with had special traits that complemented him in different ways. It is difficult to say which of these ladies would have best complemented him in his mission for his country because their relationships were formed by many things like distance, societal norms, and individual circumstances. However, I think Leonor Valenzuela would complement him in his mission for his country since she helped Rizal in his political activities. Her bravery and commitment to the cause of Philippine independence were well-known. Despite the fact that their relationship was brief and secretive because of Leonor Rivera, it was important because it showed Rizal's commitment to the Philippine Revolution and his willingness to collaborate with others in order to achieve their shared objectives. Their relationship was also a testament to Rizal's progressive views on gender and his understanding of the important role of women in Philippine society. 3. Yes.

1. Jose Rizal is known for his colorful love life surrounded by countless beautiful women. With his characteristics of being charming and witty, undeniably, he has the ability to capture any woman’s heart. Looking at his past relationships, it may appear as if Jose Rizal is a walking ‘red flag’ - a term used in the context of dating and relationships by the present generations which means a person turning into a problematic partner. This was evident when he was dating two women at the same time, Leonor Rivera and Leonor Valenzuela. Another incident was with his complicated relationship with Gertrude Beckette wherein he suddenly left her hanging despite him knowing that she was seriously in love with him. Though I cannot entirely blame Rizal because maybe he cannot fully commit himself to be in a serious relationship due to his unfinished patriotic mission. He may have a fair share of failed romantic relationships, but we cannot deny the fact that he never abandoned his love for his country. This love came to a point where he was willing to sacrifice his life in all aspects for us to have our own identity as a nation, and that alone is enough to say that Jose Rizal deserves to be one of our national hero. 2. Of the women who have a relationship with Jose Rizal, I think Gertrude Beckette would fit well with his mission for the country. If Rizal didn't suddenly leave Gertrude, but instead gave their relationship a chance to move on a seriously committed ones, I think they would complement each other well. Gertrude Beckette’s love language is acts of service. She is willing to go out of her way to provide meaningful help and support to Jose Rizal. In fact, as discussed in the video, she was pleased to lend a hand to Rizal in finishing sculptures like “Prometheus Bound”, “Triumph of Death over Life”, and “Triumph of Science over Death”. The way she showered him with all her attention seems like she is an understanding woman and partner. Should she have known Rizal’s mission to his beloved country, she would have gladly willing to compromise to make their relationship work while fulfilling together their quest for independence. 3.
