I agree Lady really pointed out as to why Kenickie & Rizzo are a better couple Danny could learn a thing or two from his friend. Imagine if Sandy & Danny did have sex & Sandy got pregnant Danny would tell her he's not ready to be a dad & tell her to get rid of the kid leaving Sandy alone & pregnant. Or he would be forced to marry Sandy & as time went on he would've became abusive towards her.
You talking about Danny just brought back memories of rewatching Grey's Anatonmy because I remember growing up that everyone loved Derek as a character and his romance and relationship with Meredith but oh my god he is actually terrible. How you feel about Danny is how I feel about him and it's nice to see people now looking back at movies and tv shows without rose coloured glasses and being able to go "wait a minute" to some of the questionable stuff that people praised.
I watched Grey’s a lot back in the day when it first started airing but Christina leaving was the beginning of the end for me. 😆 Haven’t really done any rewatches of it since then because I think the melodrama would be too much to binge. 😭😂
Finally! I can tell making this was like lifting a weight off your shoulders. You've had this percolating since the watch party, at the very least. In high school, I saw this movie more times than I can count, partly due to being in the orbit of theater kids. (I was a marching band nerd, but there was a lot of overlap between us.) At the time, I could never articulate WHY I disliked Danny and Sandy so much (and even if I could, my classmates would likely brook no dissent or perceived slander against the main couple; so much for discourse and criticism). I could get as far as expressing my disgust at Sandy changing herself for a man, but it took me years to realize they're both assholes. 😂
I distinctly remember having a conversation with someone offline about wanting to do Grease videos and it was over four years ago. It was about time I AT LEAST did the first one. 😂 Rizzo and Kenickie really save this movie for me. I wouldn’t feel compelled to rewatch this as often as I have if it weren’t for them. 🤩

Amazing video and please do the video about how grease 2 is superior!! I agree! 8/9 year old me loved grease. Adult me rewatched it and was horrified by the way he doesn't respect her choice and tries to force her to go further than she wants, doesn't respect her saying no and pushes it. Also Sandy feeling she has to change herself for a man, no, no, no!!!!! Girl never change for a man and never let a man make you feel you have to change to please him. Glad adult me understands how important consent is and that if they don't like me as I am, they they can get stuffed Also shout out to Rizzo having the best song in the entire film, there are worst things I could do is just incredible in its storytelling and giving you insight into a person
Us turning on Grease 1 (but mostly Danny and Sandy) when we grow out of childhood is character development. 🥸 And the Grease 2 video will happen eventually but I’ll probably let this one sit first so more people can hopefully watch it. I’ll circle back whenever I feel the time is right and I’ve finished other videos on my to-do list. 🥳

Kenickie also has the best song in the entire show, greased lightning…but John Travolta convinced the producers to give the song to him. It’s like if Hamilton had a movie adaptation and Hamilton was given “Wait for It”
I LOVED Kenizzo! They were just so cute together! And I personally think they were a better couple. Unlike Danny and Sandy. When I watched the movie, I didn't like Danny and Sandy's relationship. I didn’t like that Sandy changed the entirety of who she was because of peer pressure and that she couldn't be herself around Danny if he was with his friends. I don’t like that Danny didn’t change for her when she changed herself. When I watched my sister's school production of Grease, I STILL didn’t like them for the same reasons! I think I would have really liked this ship if both of them made changes, but not to the point of them losing themselves. Danny should have added "consent" and "boundries" to his vocabulary and learned that just because he was with his friends, he can't be sweet around her. Sandy shouldn’t have changed everything about her. I think she should have learned how to stand up for herself and be more confident in who she is (like she does in the end). That would have made for an awesome couple!
You're so right about Danny, Sandy, Rizzo & Kenickie we see Kenickie as the tougher, rawer version of Danny but behind all that he's a gentleman besides him being greaser. Danny on the other hand has no respect for boundaries when it comes to women I see him being like Bud in Urban Cowboy who's also played by Travolta. Only thing is Danny hasn't crossed the line of being physically abusive you should check that movie out to see what I mean. Bud is not only sexist, but he's rude & a douchebag he & Sissy get married only after dating for 3 freaking days. On to Grease 2 if you put Danny & Michael in front of me & ask me which guy to choose I'm going for Michael hell I'll even go for Kenickie. Danny is a horrible guy why would Sandy want this jerk surely her parents would be like "Hell no, don't bring this trashy man to our house find a better guy."
It seems there are two kinds of people: Those who genuinely like Grease 2 and everyone else. I'm basically indifferent to the Grease franchise cuz my Grease was High School Musical. But this should be fun.
While Doody is my favourite of the T birds Kenickie is my second favourite, I just always liked him, but now with your points I think he's a lot more cooler, still orefer Doody tho. Also in yhe ferris wheel scene he's cautious of Rizzo being in the ferris wheel cuz of her condition.
