Jenkins is not the answer at the point.. He hogs the ball on the dribble, forces bad passes and takes bad shots. Also, he doesn't have quick feet. This will be exposed during the Big East schedule (as it was in the Michigan game). Pitino MUST get Wilcher erady for prime time. Has anyone seen Ibine Ayo? I believe Rick P is hoping to redshirt him. That would be a great idea. Hopefully, St Johns is injury free going forward so that Ayo can get a year of experience while maintaining 3-yrs of eligibility.
I don’t necessarily disagree with you but I’m not gonna judge any of our guys off of what happened vs Michigan. Bad shots and poor decisions have been there, but also seen some improvement already and I love how hard he plays. I think as Dingle and Wilcher get more and more comfortable, the better Jenkins and our team will look as well.
I really liked the mins vs Dayton and Utah where Wilcher and Jenkins played together. I think Jenkins might benefit from playing off the ball. Definitely agree with you that Jenkins looks to have slow feet on defense. Simeon already seems way more active on that end of the court.
I know that coaches are usually very loyal to their players---especially when players follow a coach to a new team. I am certain that Pitino is extremely loyal to his players; however, IF Jenkins struggles at the beginning of the Big East schedule (and I believe he will against the the top teams in the league), Pitino MUST do what is best for the team and hand over the reins to Wilcher. That kid is smooth and definitely the 'Real Deal'. Jenkins could be an excellent bench player bc he brings energy, experience and guts---he is not afraid to take the big shot. @@colelatshaw2317
