Has almost no recovery frames, aggressive tracking, with RKR does dumb damage, RKR doesn't go away since you're not hitting with the main hand weapon, fast casting animation, CAN COMBO with the throw animation itself and ALL that for the low cost of 3 FP :)
Black flame buff also works. So does the bleed flame. If you throw them up close when the shield stops mid air it multi hits before shooting out again..
I've fought a dude in colosseum that buffed his right hand weapon with rot grease and spammed shield throw, staying away with light roll (presumably had the talisman that made roll i-frames better too). There was virtually nothing I could do. Phantom hits procced rot, and if I stood still for one second I got chipped. Pvp is in a sorry state right now, everyone's abusing the broken shit. I don't get the point.
The point is that the average fromsoft PvP player isn't playing to Have Fun in the normal sense (as in, using the whole massive rpg sandbox at their disposal and getting creative), they're playing to win fast. Same reason why you very rarely see actual Characters in invasions, you just see a "build" focused around one or two specific things that either hit for 35 billion damage or are otherwise extremely safe (e.g. all the invaders that spam running fist/halberd attacks and then swap to stormhawk axe/dragon halberd when the former doesn't work) (disclaimer, I do invasions myself, this is 100% me insulting my peers and not a Salty Host Moment)

me and a buddy tried some cosplay 2v2 arenas and we kept getting the most sweaty tryhard glitch abusing losers it sucked all the fun out of it. Invasions suck ass too everyone immediately busts out swift slash or whatever busted stuff they have.
For anyone wondering what to do if the opponent uses this. You can use assassin's Gambit weapon art with the unseen form spell so they can't target you.

I just imagine the version of the game where they dont fix anything but the incredibly broken stuff and top 3 most busted builds are: Infinite stamina Fingerprint Shield RKR with Throwing Shield And Erdtree Shield with Fire's Deadly Sin
With the massive list of broken items in this dlc I think fromsoft just hit a new record on releasing the most uncooked dlc ever. Every dlc fromsoft released always had broken stuff but this dlc has so much. The whole set of smithscript weapons are bugged, the madness torch exploit, fire knight great sword, the ash of war for the backblade, and there is a cheesy sleep build where you use the spread crossbow with sleep bolts and proc sleep for between 1-3 shots depending on stats. Also the sleep can still proc when rolling and combo with the new sleep needle that has an effect similar to bleed. I think there are some other broken things but it’s hard to keep track of it all.
I bet you can apply right hand debuffs with it as well Blackflame, bloodflame, poison, DEATHBLIGHT I need to find that thing asap so that I can begin testing all of this
RKR works on guard counters, and it stacks with the talisman and the damage boost from the deflection tear, one shotting players most of the time. Multi deflects ramp the damage more, up to +80% which is amplified by RKR.
And? Nobody with half a brain is getting hit by a guard counter. It has the loudest BEWARE buzzer to notify you into dodging. What is actually funny is that you can one-shot people using a single running R2 of Giant-crusher now. Takes 3 buffs including RKR but it's hilarious.

you know, i like the idea of STR dedicated builds having a reliable way to do damage from afar, literaly the unique thing that was aviable for them was Storm Blade. but this shield is one of the worse, if not the worse proyectiles to deal with... really spammeable, good tracking, decent damage, low FP cost, and at the top of that glitchy. i don't know what FS was thinkin...
Instead of reporting the glitches to Bandai in hopes they get fixed we should ask that FS implements any kind of quality control in their team. It's shameful that such a huge and experienced company shits on their product's quality this bad
Found someone using this with Eclipse Shotel so it inflicted deathblight instead, so I pretended to be AFK, he went to gesture to make fun of me, I hard swap to Death's Poker, L2+R1 and kill him. It was my highlight of the day. He got one shotted and I pointed down to him (I also met him 3 times before that day and he was using bloodflame blade instead). I'm pretty sure he blocked me after that even though he was also Tbagging me.
I know everyones focusing on the broken stuff, but what I want to see is what a combo chain caster god like you can do with the Staff of the Great Beyond, being able to cast both sorcceries and incants. Lot of potential there
I'll add to that. Miriam teleport gives you super fast setup frames so you can cast comeing out of the teleport. I've fought some cool sprceror builds using it to get in and out of combat while still casting at me.
The saddest part is I really want to love ER pvp but when this stuff exists and has a chance to just not be nerfed for months (looking at bloodflame + flame aura) what's the point? I don't want to always have to boot DS3 to have good pvp but like, between this and the 4 player limit for invasions
Here's some of the things that the DLC clears up about fromsoft's vision for Elden ring. They want you to use consumables. They want you to use Spirit summons. They want you to use overpowered weapons spells and Ashes of War. They want you to use defensive talismans consumables and physicks flasks. They want you to explore every corner of everywhere. And this last one and maybe the most important is they don't give two shit's about PVP or co-op, at least not upon release. It's not what they're spending their time on. It's not what they want to spend their time on. It's just not their priority.
...you _do_ know that shields can't use armament buffs nor virtually any AoW for weapons, right? It's literally been like that since the game came out.
This is why cooldowns are necessary in pvp. Nerfing the damage will just make people stop using it and adding an FP cost will be pointless if it's still this spammable and if the FP cost is too high then people will again stop using it.
Cooldowns sucks. They really have no point being in an arpg imo. Everything have been and has to be handled with the actual properties of the move, else you remove control is a very shitty feeling way. People still used nerfed weapons to this day... It's overtuned in many categories, so we just have to change that. Ashes have no bussiness being a primary move over regular moves, so a fp cost nerf is appropriate to end the spam entirely. A conscious burst of even just two uses is a choice that still need to be possible.
Worst idea of all time. This weapon will be harmless once they fix the buffs applying to it. Simply pull out any 100% phys shield and the throw can't do anything.

It takes 1 ash swap and then using the off-hand weapon art to check if this shit works as intended. Why... why do these things make it into the game... The PVP is really cancerous right now.
You would think there was an actual reward for winning in arena or pvp in general with all the cheese floating around. Its like players feel like if you lose in pvp you die in real life this shit is beyond toxic.
All the normies coming to these games have made the environment putrid indeed. Fromsoft also removed covenants so now there's absolutely 0 sense of community.
