No one have hypersonic missiles but US (x-15, Talon A, Pershing-2, PrSM, HTV-2, x-43, Dark eagle...) china and srussia haven't their own semiconductor manufacturing, only USA and their allies have these, without chips, it's impossible to create hypersonic weapon
Looks like all DDG-51 Flt I&II should be upgraded with the Low Noise Amplifier ASAP. As CG's come out of service some antennas can be pre-staged to prime the pump at the plant in Moorestown, NJ.
Im guessing this is lockheed's response to Raytheon's bid to backfit SPY-6 radars... IMO SPY-6 backfitting is the better choice, its more expensive but its still far better than a slightly upgraded SPY-1
They have SPY-7 to respond to SPY-7. SPY-7 failed to be selected against SPY-6. SPY-1 LNA is a plausible solution for existing SPY-1 equipped Aegis ships. Future construction ships (Flight III) will go with SPY-6.
@@kongchoong This could be an option for ships that cannot have SPY-6 but as far as I know, all flight IIA's, which represent most Burkes, can have SPY-6 installed albeit a smaller version of what's on Flight III. Even a smaller SPY-6 should be better than an upgraded SPY-1, its still an AESA vs PESA

This conversation that is centered around Hypersonic missiles, and if you think that Russia and China are simply ahead of the US in this technology then you are dead WRONG. If instead you center it around hypersonic TECHNOLOGY then suddenly america has the resounding lead. Something is considered "hypersonic" once it passes mach 5, the space shuttle would regularly exceed mach 25 and while the space shuttle may be gone the air force's x-37 still continues to do that to this day. Even american private companies have hypersonic platforms like SpaceX, Blue Origin and Boeing, this technology is prevalent it just doesnt have a warhead. It is very misleading to suggest that the United States lacks the technology to put a warhead on a target at these velocities because they could. In 2004 NASA's X-43 scramjet demontrator hit mach 9.6 and in 2011 Boeing's X-51 scramjet hit mach 5.1 and in that same year DARPA's HTV2 glide vehicle hit mach 20. But in 2017 Russia claims they made the world's first "hypersonic weapon went into service with their KH-47 Kinzal the Kinzal is just the first stage of a short range ballistic missile mounted on the belly of a MIG-31. It's true the Kinzal started out as the Iskander short range ballistic missile designed in 1988 not exactly what you would call cutting-edge. At the end of the day the US does not need to make another nuclear weapon, and the whole thing about hypersonic missiles being able to evade missile defense systems and be less detectable is complete nonsense. US satelites would immediately detect the heat given off from the launch. And no country can knock out waves of incoming nukes so it doesnt matter whether you launch a hypersonic missile or an ICBM the end of the world come the same. China has not proven that it can hit a moving aircraft carrier without nuclear armed missiles so their hypersonic anti-ship missiles are useless. The media is giving putin what he wants, they need to stop, without these false claims that western media loves to fascinate over, Russia wouldnt be selling any arms and would be lacking any military capability more than they already do, the western media is helping putin
LNA is not enough to detect hypersonic threats. LM is hiding something here. LNA amplifies noise so you can filter it out and detect signal of interest (sicker or warhead)

sure but that will be a long time, even the current S-400 Triumf Air Defense Systems can't intercept hypersonic missiles, and the S-400 can only detect and engage ballistic missiles when they are 60km away. So think twice on what you said.
