Nice review. Balanced and fair. There are a lot of social media clowns who want to test and review an expensive gentleman’s sports sedan and they were ball caps. Unfortunately there lack of dress code awareness is on par with their lack of car savvy.
Maserati it's about luxury, brand and how it makes you feel. It's not about speed, so beautiful. My dream car, for sure. One day I hope to live the American dream and buy one. Great review as always
Are there any clips out there with John Davis just talking about his career and cars in general, feelings on how cars have developed over like 30 years of reviews?
if you're the person buying this new reliable is fairly good and pretty much doesn't even matter. All of them are leased and if I had a choice I'd take it over the 5 and E class just so I'm not sitting at the light with an identical car next to me. But I don't live in L.A. It's one on every block there...
@1:41 If you spend the time making a valve cover with your name in cast aluminium , why not paint or polish it. It is way better than a plastic cover though.
those ugly plastic or rubber pieces are given due to pedestrian safety regulations. make no mistake, everyone would love a block of machined metal with name and logo ingrained.
I think Doug DeMuro would disagree with this review. I normally like MotorWeek's reviews, but I think Doug does a better job at getting at how the lack of fit, finish, and usability of the Ghibli puts it behind the other cars in this segment.
that was 2015 the 2017 there ius no more gap doors, beside this from 2016 maserati is independent just like ferrari and alfa romeo....but the owner is fiat! so this means that maserati will build great cars like the old days!
DeMuro is not a real car reviewer, he is an entertainer, focuses on stupid features and not relevant details like window switches apparently from Chrysler, funny cause Mercedes GLS AMG uses the same swishes and nobody online is criticizing this, (: DM never commented on the fact that this car has great feel, performance, and refinement, all quality Italian and German components like Koni German shocks, ZF trans Maser/ Ferr engine, best Italian leather Paltrona etc Should talk about what really makes great cars GREAT like an engine, suspension, steering, paint quality, leather quality. Why Mercedes had a great reputation in the past is because it stood out among other cars precisely because it had better quality components ie great German engineering and material quality . Now reviewers do not give a dam about things like that but review entertainment systems in a car....SAD PS Had few new Mercs, BMWs, Rovers and and an Audi over the last 15 years and now have a 2017 Ghibli 30 K from new and would never trade it in for a German car of this era. The feel and refinement is a step above current Germans. Most people do not know what they talk about when they slam these current Maseratis. They are expensive sure perhaps not the best value for the money from the practical point of view but so is ROLEX it does not keep time better than a cheep watch but look at the quality of materials, same with other luxury items not worth the money from the practical view but oh so desirable by most of us (: Ghibli is a step up in overall refinement, feel and old fashion quality from 99 percent of the cars on the road in my opinion.
@@michaln2584 You are perfectly on point and I agree 100%. Unfortunately the internet if full of haters, and DeMuro took advantage of it to get more and more popular.
@@rodericksaunders5887 : its a Pentastar BASED BLOCK. NOT a Pentastar block. And machined to Ferrari spec on different machines under the same roof perhaps, but EVERYTHING ELSE is built and assembled at Ferrari in Modena: the cylinder heads, internals, you name it. So, HOW is that 'just' a twin turbo pentastar?
Chrysler switches!!! oh hell no that's like wearing an $80,000 suit with Payless shoes on. Maserati need to come better then that if they want to compete with the germans. However I seen a Ghibli on the highway and the engine sounded incredible.
You know this how? From experience or what you've read. I have one and it doesn't spend time in the shop for repairs. Repairs mean something breaks. If you mean brake wear or other, than that's normal wear and tear items. Get your facts before you chime in about you know nothing about.
We own one and it’s NEVER caused any trouble for the 3 years we’ve had it. Always a blast to drive. Horrible on gas tho. Averages 13mpg in the city lol
@@AhA69 There are exceptions to every rule. There's a guy out there somewhere that will tell you his Pinto or MG Midget was the most reliable car he's ever owned, but that's not the norm
Couple mistakes with this car, It's an $80k Chrysler Even worse, it's built with Fiat parts It has sub par handling and it's tryin to go up against the Ultimate Machine And it has a Ferrari built engine that's begging to make you go bankrupt when you have to Fix It Again Tony
I recently to be accurate 10/19/2017 bought a Maserati quarto Porte from @maseratiofsandiego and this car is nothing but a piece of junk, has been to shop for service twice, just noticed they missed stitching on the middle back seat and other issues very poor build quality what a junk, I will loose few thousand and get rid of this junk, I hate @maserati Don’t buy Maserati.
Biased review...very disappointed !! Everyone knows that the Ghibli is a piece of you know what...2014 Ghiblis are around $37K now because nobody is buying them.
