In preparation for the new Sabaton live DVD's that release on November 19, 2021, we check out a live performance from their 20th Anniversary Show at Wacken 2019! FACT CHECK/ERROR CORRECTION:
A couple times in the video I said Sabaton's new album comes out on March 4, 2021, which is false. It comes out in 2022.

8:13 The main guy "running Wacken" is (at least was until a few years back, maybe still is) not some hired expert but...the farmer who owns the "main" field. He basically holds all the strings (but sure, by now he got help and they got like surveillance cameras and such, but you can still find him running around, checking everything, making sure everything's in order). Also I can totally imagine Joakim getting bored and just bagging up some merch-shipments to pass the time.

Whoever is in charge of Sabaton's sound when on tour does masterful work. They strike the perfect balance of making the band sound massive while not blasting you with a wall of incoherent noise.

Sabaton really have come an amazing long way in such a short time. I remember seeing them live for the first time at Graspop 2009, when they payed as the opening band of the day at 1:30 pm, yes, midday! I went crazy about their music, went for signing booths right after to talk to everyone and they were all such amazing, friendly chaps! Since then they've headlined most of the major festivals here in Europe and every time their show is amazing, Joakims jokes are on point, the energy is fantastic! Can't wait to see them again soon. But to comment on how much gas goes into these shows, you should then definitely see the Rammstein Sonne live video from 2019 tour :D

The lyrics to this song, especially when coupled with such a masterful composition, gives me goosebumps absolutely every time I hear it. The opening verse in particular. And I say that having listened to this song a ridiculous amount of times. "Great war - and I cannot take more". What a perfect opening description about the horror of the WWI trenches.

I saw Sabaton live 6 times and the first time was as a support act for other Swedish Band HammerFall back in 2009 when Sabaton was an absolute secret-advise in the metal scene in a pretty small venue in Germany without any stage-props/pyro back then. This was before they went off HUGE and before they did headlining tours. On another show in Germany (headliner tour around 2010/11 but I'm not sure anymore...) I shook the hand of Pär when he was just hanging out at the venue's bar before the show :D I could really see the growth of their live shows during all the years I've seen them live. Good times!

Pär is the manager, I believe. Once I read an interview where he discussed a bit the management side of things and I was left with the impression that the dude is a freaking CEO. On the trailer for this DVD there’s part of Pär’s speech at Wacken and it was lit, man. (Incidentally, he introduced the former members of Sabaton but the part where he mentioned Rikard was apparently cut, and then I wasn’t able to get a good look at him on this video, so I was wondering if they tried to minimize his presence, what with him having been recently convicted of CSA.)

Funny you mention that, because I noticed in this video Rikard is pretty much nowhere to be seen at all, but it makes sense considering the situation.

I'm going to see Sabaton in january 😃 because January and February 2022, Sabaton embarks on one of the biggest metal tours ever in Sweden, with as many as 29 gigs from north to south. The venues are carefully selected and combined with cities they have visited before and places they have never visited before. Sabaton says “The Great Tour was the name of our European tour, simply translated to the great tour. And we thought big when we booked this turn, bigger than we've ever done before. We searched and found places where no one thought Sabaton would play, and that's why we wanted to play there. This is a chance for us to give something back to the whole of Sweden as a thank you for 20 years of fantastic support, ”says Pär Sundström, Sabaton.

It's about battle of Tsushima in 1905, the day the russian fleet was destroyed. As Oleg said this song is something like combo of Sabaton and Manowar and if you will listen carefully you will notice what song was used to make "bones" of his song. English subtitles are attached. Thanks for brilliant reactions! (Sorry for my language)

In reference to the pyro, I saw a video somewhere (I think it was when Matt Heafy made an appearance on one of the other days) where he came out from the middle between both stages and behind the Wacken logo had a bunch of propane tanks there, presumably for on-stage pyro and for the pyro on the bullhead above the two stages. All in all, there was a ton of pyro for both Sabaton and Wacken as a whole.

I was at the 2015 show of TSO and Savatage. It was a kind of mix. The first hour only the left stage (looking from audience) was played by Savatage, the second then the right one was played by TSO and after that the final of the show was both stages played in sync by both bands playing alternating TSO and Savatage songs - one of the best shows I have ever seen. But ofc this was not one band split to two stages. What made the Savatage / TSO show more special in my opinion: There had not been a single Savatage show worldwide before for 12 years and no single one after it. Similar to TSO, for which it also was the only European show in 2015 and there had been no more EU shows after this one in 2015. So it was all rehearsed and set up just for this one special show! I need to say this is what I love this festival for - it often does not have the very big names on stage, but there are always some acts that are special / once in a lifetime experiences.

I was there. and it was epic. If you watch the dvd, the part at around the middle of the concert where pär sundström talked to the crowd, that was the part where I decided that I fulfil myself one live long dream, and I bought myself a mustang about 9 months later. His speech actually convinced me to stop giving a shit about what other people say or think about me and just do it. fulfilling my dream. and now I am living it. On a side note to 5:21 - it was 10.000 "extra" people, not just "over 5000", because wacken has never sold more than 75.000 tickets (and never will, the founders Thomas and Holger said that multiple times by now). everything above that is people that make the festival happen in one way or another. hell, with over 200 bands it's easily 1000 band members alone.

I've been there in Wacken and enjoyed that remarkable and impressive show - absolutely fantastic 🙂 This was in deed the first time, that two stages which are side by side were used. But it's common in Wacken that two stages on the Holy Ground are used at the same time. You have to know, that there are three stages: Faster (left), Harder (middle) and Louder (right). The Sabaton concert took place on Faster and Harder, espacially for that anniversary. Normally there are events at the same time on Faster and Harder, and you don't hear anything from the other stages🤘

Still waiting for the release of a Blu-Ray of the first double-stage performance at W:O:A: trans siberian orchestra & Savatage in 2015 They started with Savatage on one stage, switched to TSO on the other and then the second TSO-ensemble joined on the former Savatage-stage. So they played both stages at the same time, but not the whole concert.

I'll be honest i don't like the "usual" reaction videos, but i love your videos Tank 'cause you know your stuff and add value to the video not like other reaction channel who just make surprised faces on everything.

I'm so hoping their tour will happen, I have ticket bought for the April (Helsinki, Finland), one because of sabaton and how fcking awesome they are live, secondly because of Hu and thirdly because of Lordi and all the nostalgia. Never forget eurovision 2006 :Ddd

I've seen them live twice (+ Wacken shows on TV / live stream + dvds) and there will be many more shows to come. To bridge the gap until the next show I've pre-orderred the cobi collectors box. Christmas holidays can't start soon enough 😊.

You should check out Sabaton's song A Ghost in the Trenches. It's about a native Canadian WW1 sniper, excellent song.

Ordered the bundle. My son Albin (4 year old) is obsessed with Sabaton. He has an imaginary friend named Joakim and they fly around in a helicopter and they fix wind turbines. Apparently he gives the blade a kick and they start spinning again. Yeah... Don't know where this comes from. :)

Still waiting for the reaction to Amon Amarth - Raise your horns. Back in last year when you were reacting to Sabaton live in Gotherburg, Sweden, you showed that Sabaton won the poll against Amon Amarth and some other band. But here we are, where is Amon Amarth? :P God I love this song^^ Keep up the great work man.

Holy Shit! I had no idea about the 3hour show that they did.... just seen the setlist, and omg. that is the best setlist they ever had. They even played Saboteurs, one of their most underrated songs. I really hope that they are gonna do similiar shows from time to time in the future aswell... Because the only bad thing about a Sabaton show is that it always ends too soon. Also love that they played Swedish Pagans twice xD these guys are such trolls

That's one show I wouldn't want to be too close. I'd want to see both stages. You'll get your money's worth if you only catch Sabaton at their festival Sabaton Open Air, but they always have a lot of cool bands. Next year is Nanowar and Van Canto among others. Last time I was there the band arrived on stage in Hägglunds Bv206.

Cool little sidenote on the being self managed and stuff, When Hoonigan filmed gymkhana 7 (i think it was, the one in LA) they initially used some music by Slayer as a placeholder in production, not really expecting to be able to use it for release, especially on the deadline they had, since music rights can be a hassle and a half with record companies. But they figured, hey why not shoot them an email to at least ask, and they got permission to use it, and for the credits they asked "what should it say in the credits?" fully expecting a list of labels etc, and the band answered " what do you mean? it should say music by Slayer!" since Slayer completely owns all the rights to their own music.

there is an interview with Joakim by EMP (don´t know if it´s a thing in the US -one of the biggest Merchandise retailers in Germany/Europe(?) where they were talking about the idea of using both stages at once. quite fun to Watch. I´ve been there 3rd row in front of the Harder Stage (the right one seen from the crowd). Had a blast. couldn´t speak for like 2h or so :D Pretty much the same with the Powerwolf Concert that year. Can´t wait to return to the holy ground in 2022 the full show is going to blow your head off!

It was actually the second time both stages were used for a concert. First were Savatage and TSO back in 2015. They played one at a time for most parts and some songs on both simultaneously. Sadly couldn't get my hands on the 2019 tickets, but was there in '15.
