@@TshjDid I listened to MFKR also. That was a different style though with Brandon at helm before Corey. Even when Corey took over, they didn't turn into what they are now till later.
I'm just impressed with Jay. I mean damn, could you imagine trying to replace Joey. Such huge shoes to fill. Jay is no Joey but he does an amazing job.
At the high risk of getting shanked over it, I'm just going to say that this song feels like a modern "Duality" and i f***ing love it. It's just, backwards. The chorus is that clean faded-out singing, and then the in-between parts are just heavy as all hell. If the rest of the album hits just as hard, it's going on my main playlist.
I must disagree, because I find Duality to be catching at 1st hearing... while this song is all-in technical wise and it takes some time to catch all of that. This is not a radio song, sounding wise, like Duality is.
Interesting take. I do not see it though. However I really would be stoked to see if they could pull off another chart topping hard-rockish catchy single like duality.
Slipknot isnt just a band, they are a whole experience!! They are legens 🤘🏼 They just keep evolving their music 💯 And Jay on the Drums, Corey's voice, the setup , the new masks, the whole band and crew..... Everything about this is amazing!! We totally appreciate everything they have given us !! Love , Diamond💎+ Adam #MaggotFamily #TankTheMan
Modern Slipknot songs need more than 1 listen. I'm a huge fan, but i find i need to hear songs at least 5 times, just to be able to pick up on all the individual sounds and things that are going on, and then appreciate how they manage to combine all that noise into 1 coherent song. First thing that jumped out to me on this one was the drumming. Jay just going to another level.
I'm happy to hear you liked WANYK. It's one of my favorite records from them. I'm also happy to hear you mention the people who constantly compare to ST and Iowa. I don't actually want another Iowa. We've got that. I want to see this band continually evolve. If they released an acoustic album I'd be down if it's what they're inspired to do and it's good. I hope this record brings the heavy, of course, but I hope it's diverse like the last record. Great video as always, sir!
It blows my mind that they signed a 7 album deal with RR for $500,000; 7 ALBUMS! They're a band with 9 members! I'm curious too see what is next for the KNOT?
I remember my friend introducing me to "wait and bleed" while in high school in 99/20, and it changed my life musicly. I immediately became obsessed with Slipknot, and became a huge fan of just metal in general. I knew I found the right person to marry when I caught her listening to "The Devil in I" haha. Through college I worked a lot of concert security, and I got to work several Slipknot shows. Just absolute insanity. Other fun little fact. My buddy that introduced me to Slipknot, we share the same birthday.... September 30th
I caught Slipknot in a small Iowa City bar before they got huge. The Step Kings Biohazard and Mudvayne opened the show. Mudvayne was handing out cassette tape demos with Death Blooms on it. Still got it laying around. Good times
Tonight, July 28th, they played it as a complete live premiere in Prague. Pretty happy I was there, because it felt pretty damn special. My homie who wasnt impressed with the song initially actually loved it live because of that catchy chorus.
absolutely obsessed with the song, so many little gems of technicality and WE CAN HEAR CRAIG AGAIN! I haven't really heard Craig so clearly since the earlier albums Some tid bits from the vid: Sid is holding his old mask and it's animated, the jaw moves while he holds it. Jay also drops his left drum stick during v-man's solo (~8:35 in Tank's vid)
They've been keen on having Jinjer join them in Europe and the US. That seemingly chaotic part that somrhow holds together explain why. Jinjer eats those sections for breakfast
I love this band so much. One of my favorite things about them is they aren’t afraid to experiment with their sound. Recycling the same sound would get old, so I enjoy the range they show, especially with their last couple releases.
9:07 You Know Once Tank Takes His Hat Off And Gives Us The Unholy Headbang Its A Certified Classic!! Thanks Slipknot This Gives Me Iwoa Vibes Plus Sid Getting Busy On The Scratches 8:52 Is When Slip Is At Their Best
I was already pretty excited when I heard The Chapeltown Rag but now I’m beyond excited. Everything is just 🔥 Corey’s cleans (melody) was really interesting and his screams sounds filthy (in a good way of course). The video is amazingly shot as well. 🤘🏻🤘🏻
Was on the fence when I first heard this song, but this is about the 4th or 5th time hearing it and it gets better each time I hear it. Looking forward to hearing the whole album!
I love this song, also I'm like you with self titled and Iowa as they was the albums of my early teens and made me who I am today. (slipknot was my first ever concert back in 2002) really excited for this new album to come out!
Mick recorded the whole selftitled album on a Jackson V model but explained in an recent interview that it was too expensive for him to take it on the road, get stolen and what not. So he endorsed for many years with Ibanez which is a cheaper, good sounding guitar. And he was used to Seymour Duncan pickups.
Right there with you man. Slipknot was one of the first CDs I ever bought when I was in like 7th grade. It was one of the buy 12 for $1 from like Columbia House.
Been listening to this on repeat since it dropped and I can’t get enough of it. Vol.3 was my jumping on point in about 2004 when I was 12/13 and I heard Before I Forget for the first time. This song harkens back to those glory days for me. I’ve enjoyed every album this band has dropped for numerous reasons and I can’t wait for this album! You got a new subscriber by the way, great reaction! 🤘🏻🔥
Also saw Jay Weinberg at Stockholm Stadium with Bruce Springsteen at that tour. He crushed it. The punky drive and doublekicks in Radio Nowhere was awesome. This song is all that some tracks on the last album really didn't achieve fully. This is perfect.
On my way to work today I heard the new Disturbed "Hey You" and I was surprised. This new Slipknot single would be great to hear on the radio waves as a eye opener
*It's almost the same with every band. Reminds me of the lament after MetallicA released "LOAD"........"This don't sound like the "Black Album"...", "...it sounds like Lars Ulrich hitting trash cans instead of drums....". After certain albums lots of fans don't want anything to change, while another large number of fans want or, at least, are open to changes....* 🎵🎸🥁🔥🔥🔥🎹😈🎹🔥🔥🔥🥁🎸🎵
Went to the Motley Crue Def Leppard concert last night in Denver Colorado, Def Leppard fucking sounds amazing. I was out of my mind at how good they sound. I got a Joan Jett t shirt because I am In love with her
Glad to see you uploading a new reaction after your video talking about your inner issues at the moment. This is fun to watch as always and wish you and your family the best. Cheers !
To be fair, I had this one recorded before that other video, I just took a few days to edit it. As of right now I don't have anything else recorded. Haha
love the review with the Tank Fact too... it really puts into perspective the song the histroy.. thanks so so much.. the moment your hat comes off.. IT gonna be HEAVY... looking forward to this Album... and looking forward to more of your reviews... thank you Stay safe Peace and Metal \m/
Yeah, I dig it so far. BTW my Jim Root Tele has been one of the best guitars I've ever owned. Out of all the guitars that have come and gone in my stable that one stays seated at the helm.
Now that you mentioned it I do agree that it has a volume 3 like tone, sort of that old school aggressive first 2 album vibes mixed with volume 3 and later melodies!
This song might have been a bit too much all over the place for me, but the heavier part was fantastic though. The new masks are really next level! I love the evolution of the look for the band.
i like your ending comments. i very much am intrigued. i want to hear one of my fave bands reinvent themselves. i especially loved the grey chapter and one of the few early adopters of vol 3. this song isnt close to my favorite but cant wait to hear morr
1st time hearing this and it's a great song and a great reaction as usual. I always learn something new watching your reactions. Have some other new music for you. Disturbed dropped Hey You a song for the times and Alter Bridge dropped Pawns And Kings. Both out less than a week and both are great songs.
It's been a long time since I've heard Slipknot. Have you ever seen them live at Pukkelpop in August 2000. And that was already a unique experience back then: the masks, the interaction with the audience,... Time to rediscover them.
Really good and interesting review Tank. I think this song asbolutely slaps and is up there with Soloway Firth which is the best song off WANYK imo and I'd rank as their third best album after the self-titled and Iowa. Really looking forward to the album. Hope they are back over here in the UK next year, they were right back on form in 2019 at Download and the 2020 EU tour! Let's Go!
If I recall you havent reacted to Tool so will be waiting for that first time also 😉 This song somehow brought back the memories from my ealy teen years, it was like hearing Slipknot first time again. Btw this was my first time hearing this song 🤘 I havent heard them play this in radio yet here in 🇫🇮 And good luck finding new house and take care dude 💪
I swear for the lady album and seemingly this album slipknot just put their discography through an algorithm to the write the songs. Like when people get computers to write tv episodes based off all the scripts from previous episodes. It's every slipknot song filtered in to one song.
I have decided to die on a hill... I want more youtubers to react to Nothingface. Late 90's early 00's nu-metal band worth time. Anything from their 2nd or 3rd albums: Villains or Violence. Please!
Oh god I remember first time putting on Iowa - when people = shit kicked in I shit my pants and I was scared and amazed all thru out the album ! I was 15… And yeah I love this new track , chorus is stuck in my in my head 🤘🤘❤️❤️
I'm totally agree with You about Jay Weinberg. It would have been difficult for anybody replace a mith like Joey Jordison but (is my opinion obviously) Jay succeeded in this. You've right when you say "Every radio station play this song". My radio station here in Rome (yeah, I'm a radio host) Radio Rock put this song in heavy rotation and I'm sure the fan love it. Cheers my friend, see you soon at some live event 🤘
Funny enough is my wife and kids(3&10) love this song from This album and they differ on which track they enjoy after this which our son is yen and my wife and daughter is the chapel town rag 😎💪😎😎
first track I heard was wait and bleed, I hated it so much that I didnt listen to the album for maybe even a year... or longer.. Now I have a slipknot reference tattoo (barcode idea from their early "costumes") and their logo on my leg My favorite band 100%
It might just be me falling out of love with their sound. But I felt this wasn't significant an advancement of sound to enjoy it like I have the slipknot of old. Don't get me wrong I'm not going to be one of those spitting that rhetoric of they should go back to sounding like their original 2 albums I know that's impossible. But this to me sounded just like another version of the negative one.... But with a bass solo. (which I did find pretty fucking cool all things considered)
