One other attraction in that area is the Davis Gun Museum. My grandparents lived just east of the totem pole site. When we would visit them my brother and I would always have my parents stop at the totem pole. When you are under 10 years old it was huge and we loved the way it would echo. Also, it released some kid energy that built up from being in the car for a few hours. I’m sure my grandparents were happy we were able to run around and yell before showing up to their house. Lots of memories from that area of Route 66 including the blue whale.
My dad took us to the Will Rogers Memorial when I was about 12 maybe 14. I was very impressed by it and didn't want to leave. I also remember seeing a totem pole by a road in my thirties when we were headed to Bartlesville. Someone commented about a totem pole being at foyil. I have been trying to remember where it was I guess that was it. Thank you for sharing this it brought back a lot of pleasant memories.
Will Rodgers would NOT have been a Trump Supporter. He loved to make fun of STUPID, in a common sense, ironical way. Altho Trump would have given Rodgers a plethora of satirical material to poke fun at, the inanity of it all would have saddened him greatly. HE WAS a man who cared alot about this Nation, he certainly wouldn' t have enjoyed SEEING IT become the laughingstock of The World. Rodgers used his humor in a constructive, / edifying way to benefit all of us. I miss him tremendously and his keen wit at this time when it's most needed. R.I.P. , Will Rodgers.
