Pros: alot of things to do down town. Green way trail walk, hike, bike, run and more. Mill mountain zoo and the Star very nice. Cons: robberies, Be very Alert, thefts, pan handlers, homeless trespassers, homeless, homeless meth and drug encampments, lots of hood areas and section 8 government housing. Poverty and Jobless in Roanoke very high. Sadly Roanoke City, Roanoke PD and Roanoke County PD want enforce pan handling, vegranceing and homeless laws on the book. The real problem with most not all homeless once their kicked out of the homeless shelters they will still feed them. That is why they stay around and they can make and do meth and many other drugs and party in the homeless tent encampments! Welcome To Roanoke Virginia Turning Into California. Local officials seem to be to more interested into disarming the good citizens and changing gun laws than fixing the other problems. If you want a near crimeless area go to Montgomery County on 460 West bound all the way to the West Virginia line. Also Stuart Virginia, Floyd, Pulaski, Dublin, Narrows, Giles, Radford, Blacksburg these are No Homeless or No Homeless Encampments At All. And there are No Pan Handlers on the corners like Roanoke Virginia. Their are laws in Roanoke City, Roanoke City PD and Roanoke County PD But No One Will Enforce The Laws On The Books for the homeless that are doing most of these crimes and growing. This is why it keeps getting worse and growing. Big cities like Roanoke Virginia are the last place you want to be when SHTF!!!
