Roasting The Bumblebee Movie: They are Back! 

The funniest part about several of the characters in this film is that somehow ROTB Pablo has better looking eyes than most of them. He just chose to wear glasses instead of mask and ears just so his design couldn't be an 100% improvement, and could instead be an 110% nightmare upon us all.

With the “no spaceship to go home with” my headcanon is that Optimus came on a ship, but it was destroyed by the decepticons at some point, which is why he was looking for transit in the rotb deleted transit fight.

4:02 well at least the Maximals and Predacons were dealing with that situation better considering they were stranded with damaged ships, limited parts on a planet where humans weren’t a thing until much later. But at least they had Energon.

This gotta be the funniest roast from previous ones. Love that prime screaming on deer part 3:57 (what prime actually did to deer he killed) and Shatter part at end shocked me of knowing context.

I hate the fact Blitzwing’s name was wasted on some nothing Seeker. It’s better than having Starscream bite the dust like a chump again, but I’d rather Blitzy be his own dude and not just sunfaded Ramjet.

5:54 I know my opinion might be unpopular but I actually don’t really like the way the Decepticons were designed in the movie. I mean sure they were G1 accurate but Soundwave’s alt mode makes it hard to like the figure that I sold it away after a year of owning it. I actually prefer the Bayverse Decepticons cause it is fitting, to have a cartoonish and colourful Autobots facing off monsterous and dark coloured Decepticons

I meant to comment they should’nt be able to survive falling into the atmosphere, it would make any thermal weaponry a joke, and again it’s another example of the bayformers trying to hard to be awesome

2:26 I never really found bb/rotb arcees design “attractive” but I have found the bumblebee Arcee weirdly “adorable” like a particularly innocent baby stood up

i can explain the arcee situation, in ROTB they gave her more human proportions

I could never understand what’s the hype about Arcee’s rotb design people saying she’s hot. It’s a good arcee design, minus the fact that she almost looks like she turns into a small car in robot mode, but she’s not all that much of a big deal. Otherwise I think people just did it for the memes like how people call Optimus sexy.

What's funny is that I don't think Optimus ever had the tear drop shaped feet until the Bumblebee movie. Even the Beyverse movies had Optimus with Square feet.

to be fair, I never liked dropkick's design from the bumblebee movie, it felt confusing that he's also a triple changer and also had a car mode just like shatter. His 2007 self was recognizable and had a chevy pickup mode that gives him an advantage of not being able to stand out from other pickup trucks in order to blend in. Sure, 2007 dropkick may have a giant decepticon logo in vehicle mode but at least he could be mistaken for a customized pickup

The BB movie designs were top tier designs. Although I do dislike ironhide and ratchet's face it just looks creepy I mean look at their mouths it's just a straight line that is close to their chin. ROTB just dumbs the designs down. For instance Optimus is missing the red parts on the side of his torso and it's just distracting IMO.

3:38 To be fair, that was at a time when staying on Cybertron meant certain death for the Autobots and out of desperation they fled to the closest planet that wasn't under Decepticon occupation. Sure it doesn't completely excuse the fact that it was a dumb decision but I think that's where they were coming from.

Rise of the Beasts has the writing on par with Bay if not worse. In Bumblebee the Decepticons didn’t even need a ship at all. They travel from planet to planet with their own body. Only the Autobots were traveling in escape pods and it’s probably because they need faster vehicles to not be traced by the Decepticons who are all high speed jets. Even the Terrorcons in the same movie didn’t need a ship to travel through space and time to an alternate Earth million years ago in the past. Those idiots at paramount are just so obsessed with Baytimus psycho Prime they needed him back somehow therefore they add the “we have no ships and we need to go back to Cybertron” to give Optimus a reason to be a dick. Even at the start of ROTB they showed the Maximals have a ship big enough for not just 4 Maximals in the movie but apparently a few more Maximal troops off-screen. The Maximals had no use for it later on and all they have to do is give Optimus their ship and destroy the key so Scourge wouldn’t be able to track them. And where the heck are the other Autobots ? There were atleast 7 arrived in BBM and there are only 4 in ROTB beside Prime and Bee. Optimus even rallied them with the “Calling all Autobots” and only 3 appeared. Assblo later appeared in Mexico so I guess they’re trying to say the Autobots are scattered across the globe so they couldn’t be at one place at the same time but then you mean to tell me there are only 4 Autobots in the entire States ? And why the hell wouldn’t they show up when their leader was announcing they finally have a way to go home or even when he was fighting a planet and needed more soldiers than ever ? Did they intentionally want to stay on Earth so they simultaneously ignored their own leader ? The writing of this movie makes even less sense than Bay but people are eating it up like it’s the greatest story ever in TF history.

The weirdest character design decision in this movie to me are the two lady Transformers feet. Why do they have toes when everyone else has robot boots? Also, why do they only have two toes on each foot?

Would've been funnier if you pointed out the parts some of the designs share as they were made last minute for the movie. Example: shockwave's/optimus's thighs. Arcee sharing few parts with shatter.

from the bee movie designs i only liked the seekers+blitzwing, arcee, dropkick and shatter, absolutely nothing else, seen on screen, and only like concept megatrons ROBOT mode

What are soundwaves cassettes are they like a whole mini computer instead? What is that brick of an alt mode supposed to be and kinda curious if they’ll change his design for the next film or just not have him transform cause idk how you could make that dark blue rectangle of a “ship” look cool in live action

To be honest, I like the bayformers more than bumblebee, mainly because they had an aspect in their designs that the entire rest of the franchise utterly failed at since the beginning. Make them actually look like aliens. Plus the bumblebee designs creep me the fuck out, they remain me of the bug facers from C. M. Kosemen's All Tomorrows.

Part about infantilizing Bumblebee is on point as after becoming mute dude is written like a pet, even when he is on unonown planet he should have enough brainpower and training to know what NOT to even attenpt to do

Finally the most over rated movie designs get their shit. I said it, the bumblebee movies designs are over rated, yes some of the designs are an improvement (prime, screamer, bee, arcee, wheejack etc) but some like ironhide & soundwave feel like such a down grade, bayverse ironhide felt like pick ironhide imo, if you disagree, understandable but soundwave just looks so bad, bro definitely is going through something he just looks like a sad sack of a thing & blitzwing should have just been a random seeker that nobody cares about
