This is crazy. KD is in his 17th season and is having a good statistical season. These expectations on these old guys has become absurd. To be this good after all his injuries is a accomplishment in itself

Agree, and as an all-time scoring hooper that did not care about the media nor the image they portrayed of him, in the social media era. He just does not care about all the talk, and it is understandable to some extent. Sometimes he should do more, because media comes with the job, but I think he meets his responsibilities there by doing the minimum, and that’s fine.

I don’t necessarily think he is “dead.” REASON #1 I’m a big OKC fan and was a huge KD girl back in the day. Back when KD was kind of an anomaly at his position, being 7ft and technically a guard. When he first got the league it was kind of foreign to see that. Kd and Russ on OKC used to be magic with their contrasting styles. Russ being a chaotic beautiful player , and Kd being more of a smooth and calculated. It was fun back then for everyone. It felt like every game has something special would happen. I mean go look at the old OKC highlights. Russ and KD were fun, and they looked like they were having fun together enjoying the game. People loved Kevin back then, loved what he stood for. Played for a small market team, and as far as we knew he loved it. He didn’t seek recognition for his greatness, the old kd was fiercely humble. He loved him mom and wasn’t ashamed to say it loudly. He was kind and seemed pleasant to be around. Back then KD was a guy you wanted to win, wanted to root for. Because he was different, he wasn’t outspoken and “arrogant” like Lebron came across. He wasn’t the “The Chosen One.” He wasn’t chosen nor was he destined to be. No, Kevin was just someone who worked really hard to get to where he was. Which a lot of people related to. He was young, excited for his future in the league, comfortable with who he was. As time went on Kevin inevitably changed, he got older and started to think differently. He wasn’t the same guy that he was all those years ago. He loss his humble character. His confidence in who he was, and became insecure and eager for validation. His young kind demeanor changed into perpetual irritation. REASON #2 His game however didn’t change. Kevin Durant has always been great, efficient, disciplined. Perfect from the midrange in his spots, can’t drive as well to the hoop as he once did, and not as good at the 3 pointer as he once was. Kevin Durant has always been consistent on the court in the regular season. Scoring is where his expertise is, to the point that’s it kind of predictable. The games has evolved to the point where everyone puts up 30 pts a night. There is just other players more fun to watch than kd at this point. In conclusion… kds lack of a real basketball home, becoming unlikeable to the general basketball fans, and his predicable playing style is what caused Kevin Durant to become kind of an afterthought in the regular season… and considering he hasn’t made a deep playoff run in years … the league as a whole.
@evenebrown7353
@evenebrown7353 5 месяцев назад
I don't think he changed, he grew up. Remember a lot of these players come into the league at 19 yrs old. As you get older you become your own person. I saw a interview where he stated okc had control of the interviews and only wanted him to say what they wanted, he grew up. Kd is a outstanding basketball player and a even better person. He loves his family and gives back to his community and many charities. The media turns on you if you don't do what they want you to do. The nba media builds you up just to try to beat you down. Sadly, that seems to be what a lot of social media is today, not all but a lot of it.
@Prince36300
@Prince36300 4 месяца назад
100% everything you said but it all comes down to the fact that his size makes his game not relatable. If it was, then the narratives/unlikable personality stuff wouldnt really matter. Kyrie can be....Kyrie and he will always have die hard fans because his game is beautiful to watch and it feels something you can do. But, similar to Lebron, everyone respects his game but nobody really tries to play like him (because you cant unless your 7ft). Unfortunately, he blew his chance to reshape the narrative with the Nets. If he wins another ring for this team, he will end up in a similar position to Shaq. Everyone will put him in that seperate unguardable category and hell get love from the franchises he won with but he wont be their favorite player (Kobe/Wade=Curry/Dbook) and he wont top anyone's list
@evenebrown7353
@evenebrown7353 4 месяца назад
@Prince36300 I don't think kd is trying to top anyone list. I have never heard him say he is the goat. All those list are for nba analyst and some fans. He comes out and gives 100% when healthy, tries to improve himself and just hoops. Nba sport analyst come up with all these narratives and sadly some fans follow. He is a 2 time champion, 2 tie finals mvp, nba mvp, Olympian champion. He has nothing to prove.. nike gave him a lifetime shoe contract. Only 2 other people at this time have that. Michael jordan and lebron.

I am not a Durant fan - so don't follow him much. Earlier today, I watched a short clip on his response to that controversial timeout at the end of the Suns/Lakers game and thought "Wow, he handled that situation very maturely." Usually, when it comes to the media, I usually hear stories about burner accounts, responding to fans, being to emotional and immature, etc. It's been a long time since I heard one of those stories about him. I think he is just maturing - is not out here living life for clicks and likes - and is just doing his job, playing basketball. It's like a Tim Duncan vibe, which is good.

He has no control over a vaccination policy. No one expected MJ to control Rodman’s personal life. His leadership is on the court. He puts in work and shows up. He is reliable outside of injuries. I think is hypocritical when they said Lebron’s scoring doesn’t impact as much on winning but KD does. They made this narrative from the 2021-2022 season, because lakers lost to every good team and only beat the bad ones. Yet Nets that year did the same. So why didn’t KD get the same criticism? After Magic and Bird, Drexler was the next wing up. 27, 5, and 6 a few years, then to 25-24 5 and 6.... once injured, that dropped to around 18-20 until he retired still at 18 5 and 6. I know the numbers that have nothing to do with how they fade from the top. Plus, numbers will not match up from then to now because of how the game has changed. 25, 5, and 5 were elite , and not many players could do it, then play D and get steals. Hmmm it sounds a lot like Jordan huh. Well, Drexler was the only other player in the 90s doing what he was doing. Are you familiar with Ron Harper before injuries? Mitch Richmond, Reggie Miller, but they weren't doing what MJ and Drexler were doing across the board. The NBA wasn't as popular either, then it was still growing comong into the 90s. Clyde faded during a big popularity popularity jump. 89-90 to 93-94 Clyde was really popular but started fading as one of the top dawgs as the mid 90's came, Barkley as well after Houston kept beating the Suns. Or I guess he wasn't talented or popular as well. Shoes, bigs couldn't sell shoes other than Shaq, Kemp LJ, and Barkley. Oh! Damn!!! Kemp AND LJ ( Larry Johnson) is very popular, but neverr maxed out potential because of injuries, etc. This is easy to break down when you know your sh*t like I do. I can give you examples over and over again. So that shoe sh*t is dead. Penny Hardaway, anyone!!!! Shoes!!!! Injuries even b4 his game fell all the way off Penny was selling shoes, but eventually faded. But, aren't his shoes still selling now? Take a look at his stats and games played. This conversation is too deep for you. Stay on the surface.

If anyone disregards KD for the GS move and him going to 2 other teams after then keep the same energy with LeBron and a couple of other teams including magic and Kareem, the Bill's Boston team, the Tim Duncan spurs, and the Celtics of the 80s. They were powerhouses that got exceptions to the rule of drafting and that criticism doesn't exist for them. It's coming of as extremely hypocritical and u guys are looking to nitpick and hate

Because he moved from a stable organization, that being the Golden State, and then moved on to unstable ones. In Brooklyn, they had a problem with Steve and his system, and then with Kyrie and then James. And then he moved to the Suns with a new owner and a new coach and then they traded an old CP to an injury-prone Bradley Beal. It's not his fault but he keeps getting in those kinds of situations. So, how's he supposed to compete for a championship. Is KD dead to fans? Maybe a little bit. But the fans are just waiting for him to get back to contention, same case with Kawhi and PG.

Chris Broussard it's plain and simple Kevin Durant's Talent is never in question but the fans are tired of his lack of leadership especially after leaving the Golden State Warriors and talking about you wanted your own team and that circus of a show that happened in Brooklyn and then come to Phoenix and we all know it's Devin Booker's team. Kevin Durant has become the biggest Girl Scout cookie ever in history and he's called Tagalaong ... he's tagging along any NBA star at this point that is not LeBron to get a ring but then not be the key leader ship in the locker room to Galvanize or restore order whenever needed

Today's constantly assessing media makes it a daily occurrence to criticize people. Over time it becomes our nature. KD was one of the best players in the league for years and a championship level performer. Enough said in my book. Things just didn't work out for him after Draymond challenged him and insulted him. They should have jettisoned Draymond and kept KD. Some things in life just dont work out your way.
