They should retire his number cause No Kyrie means no championship for the cavs cause there are not that many players who hit that shot. And its not like hes a steve kerr who hit one shot in one game, kyrie averaged like 27 points a game for the series
I disagree. Yes he hit a shot, but when he finishes his playing career he will end up playing with the Cavs less then 50% of his career. Basically he didn't play enough nor did he accomplish enough.
@@marvinmj7075lebron came back to Cleveland cause Kyrie was there if it was kemba or Lillard in Cleveland back in 2014-15 LeBron doesn't go back to Cleveland without Kyrie being there
But his point isn’t about if Kyrie is asking for this……his point is that we are SOFT as a society now….why retire Kyrie’s number? What did he do??? Sure he was apart of the championship team…..but we all know damn well that the ONLY reason the Cavs won that chip was cause of Lebron, Kyrie contributed but we all know that team was on the shoulders of Lebron…..it’s just silly that we feel the need to retire players numbers for silly reasons……you should have to be a truly special and gifted athlete to have your jersey retired
@@randykulesia4646 Not every team is the same. We're talking about the Cavs, here. They don't have that ONE ring without Kyrie. I mean, I don't care, either way, just saying it's not that big of a deal. It's not like it's the Lakers, Celtics, or any historically great teams.

I remember Rob ripping idea of Melo getting jersey retired by Knicks because he didn’t win championship. Well cavs 2016 did just that. Dude just bitches and moans about everything
This why yall make people hate lebron he had 41 points 17/23 game 5 to carry the cavs and save them from elimination!!Comparing a guy getting 40 in the finals to robert horrt is typical bronsexual delusion
@@fredm.2699Horry is as Shaq puts it an "other", no more no less!! He was viable for what he'd done but u can't compare him to a franchise player who an organization decided to build around 😐....... can u🤔??
Here's the problem with Rob Parker statement he and Skip have spent years ripping LeBron and saying it was Kyrie that won Cleveland a title a team that hadn't won in 50 plus years so if he doesn't deserve that recognition with his teammates who should have there jersey retired in Cleveland
Rob has some classic funny takes but he and his co host are wrong here. Irving was the catalyst for that championship win. Not lebron. Bron and Irving numbers were similar. Comparing Irving to a role player is disgraceful.
This vid makes no sense, the guys on Boston who don't have the stats but we're there for the championship should have the numbers retired but Kyrie who does have the numbers and championship shouldn't have his number retired?
@@donyutejamaica631 Since we are talking about alcohol, a lot of people get drunk but they are not necessarily alcoholics. Two things can be true. Name a better start to a new franchise than the Orlando Magic. Shaq deserves the Jersey because his play was some of the best marketing for the league and the Magic.
When’s the last time yall tuned in to any basketball show/podcast etc. and heard them give a team or player full credit for something without saying something negative or giving a backhand compliment?
Kyrie averages the 8th most PPG in NBA finals history, helped get them to 3 championships and hit the biggest shot in NBA finals history. If they retire numbers in Cleveland, it wouldn’t be unreasonable
Don't forget the yrs they spent building around Kyrie, remember Anthony Bennett & Andrew Wiggins the # 1 overall draft picks CLE had because they were SO bad🤔!!!
There is nothing wrong with LeBron, giving his best years (somewhat) to Cleveland and then going (with a suitcase) to two other teams. Franchises are not loyal to players. There’s no reason for players to be loyal to them. Recent example: Daryl Morey.
The long-term conversation wouldn't work with a team because the life span of a player is short in the NBA and teams are trading which keeps ratings high
I wouldn't do it myself but we are talking about a franchise that retired Zydrunas Ilgauskas' number. If they want to retire Kyrie's number because he was a big part of their only championship, you would have to be a narrow-minded fool to get upset enough to cry about it. I mean they also retired Nate Thurmond's number in Cleveland and he only played his last 2 seasons there averaging just 5 points a game.
@@blaketindle4703PREACH 🙏, ppl conveniently leave those yrs out🤣...... remember Anthony Bennett & Andrew Wiggins, #1 draft picks while building around Kyrie!!
If Vlade Divac can get his number retired by the Kings. I don't see the problem of Kyrie & Love having their numbers retired as well as Harden. These journalist that never played at the highest level do the most bitching & complaining i swear
Various factors are used to dictate a team retiring a jersey.Nick Collison was a bench player but whatever he did for okc make the organization feel he should get his jersey honored same thing with udonis haslem
These guys are dumb. At 10:40 they say some baseball guy who played for a long time on a team never won anything but was great and a fan favorite should have his number retired but they also say James Harden shouldn’t?? What’s the difference?!
They're both spot on. Being on a championship team shouldn't get your number retired automatically, that's ridiculous. Kyrie or Kevin Love didn't do enough to get their numbers retired. Kyrie played 6 seasons for the Cavs... I mean come on.
Rob just be hating for no reason 😂 down 3-1 and come back for a NBA final Win for the championship. That’ll forever be legendary. History was made with the big 3. They should get their # retired.
I’m not saying this is the case with Kyrie, but sometimes the player means so much to the organization’s history and the fans that it doesn’t really matter if they won a championship or not. Speaking as a Bulls fan from Chicago, I’ve always believed that Derrick Rose should have his number 1 retired at the United Center. He gave us more than anyone since MJ’s dynasty. Plus it will always be the greatest “what if he never got injured” story.
Totally agree. There has to be standards for retiring jerseys. No way Kyrie Irving should have a jersey retired or Shaq with Orlando. So Orlando celebrates Shaq getting his ass kicked by the Houston Rockets 4-0 . Thats how you get celebrated now.
Kyrie hit a Top 5 3-pointer in Finals history. Definitely the biggest shot in Cavs playoffs history. He's the best guard to ever play for the Cavs. Of course they should retire his jersey. Why shouldn't they? Because he didn't play there for a decade? He got them a chip. Lebron would never have won one in Cleveland without Kyrie. #2 and #23 need to be in the rafters right next to each other.
So that ONE shot negates the yrs they were building around Kyrie & were BAD & kept getting the #1 overall draft pick 🤔?? Remember Andrew Wiggins & Anthony Bennett, they were drafted on Kyrie watch...... just saying 😐!!
Yeah it kind of does. Without that shot and Kyrie's play that whole season and playoffs they don't win a title. They go 12 seasons with Lebron on the team and zero rings to show for it.@@ReverendSam1

Harden spent 9 years with Houston and was regarded by many, including Charles Barkley, as the best offensive weapon of all time. He deserves to have his number retired when it happens.

Rob Parker is an ABSOLUTE JOKE. How can someone being on the team be a positive for the Celtics but not for the cavs? Celtics have 16 championships. The cavs have 1. But they not supposed to retire the jersey of a guy that got them their only championship by hitting the biggest shot in finals history. Retire Rob. Please. It's pathetic at this point
As a die-hard Cavs fan, we are DEFINITELY retiring Kyrie Irving's jersey, no questions asked. This man hit the biggest shot in Cavs history to bring us our first chip in 52 years. Maybe not a statue, but definitely a retired jersey...
20 years ago they started giving the same trophy to the last place team that they give to first so this generation expects to be handed everything with zero work. Not one athlete today would even know what greatness is.
This is just ridiculous! Not only does the players need meteor training, so does the people asking these dumb questions that’s where we’re at where we pose all these different goat conversations all these who would you pick over this person? Does this person deserve a statue stop asking these dumbass questions, also, these players need to be smart enough to know you don’t have to answer this! This is exactly why this basketball era we're living in is pure trash...Soft AF, players injury prone as hell even with the technology and top tier sports medicine of today, load management, no defense, 3 point shooting contest games, traveling being basically legal now, a Play-In which rewards teams for NOT making the top 8 seeds at the end of the season, and now players who only played a few years for teams getting their jersey retired...This league has become a fuckin joke smh

Their is no *criteria* for retiring Jersey's. That's an organizations decision, no one else's. I didn't know Harden's Jersey was retired in Houston, know that's comedy.
I'm not a Kyrie fan, but he did play there for 6 years, averaging 20 pts and 6 dimes, while being the biggest reason (besides Silver suspending Draymond for 2 games) they completed the comeback against the Warriors. He deserves it.

I agree. Kyrie forced his way out. That ring was mostly on Lebron shoulders. Players like Kyle Lowry with the raptors, number should be retired. Dirk Notviski, Jason Kidd, Giannis, Dwight Howard with the Magic, KG etc
No, he shouldn't have his jersey number retired because before LeBron James returned to the Cleveland Cavaliers, he had underwhelming success. Kevin Love had more success in the Minnesota Timberwolves than him.
Kyrie should get his jersey retired because the Cavs don't win in 2016 without Kyrie. At least Kyrie spent six seasons in Cleveland, not one or two seasons.
Lenny Wilkens. A man who's in the top 75 (why? I have no idea) had his jersey retired in Seattle for the Supersonics. 9-time all-star. 0 All-Nba teams. 0 All-Defensive teams. No championships. No MVPs. I bet you Rob wouldn't be saying this about Lenny lol.
