People complaining , but 55th pick in 2nd round is basically a undrafted pick. 5 picks away from being undrafted.. in nba 2nd rounders are often given away for cash considerations. so it's not like they used a lottery pick on him. it literally hurts nothing. and many players in 2nd round opt not to get drafted so they can choose where they sign. similar to nfl 7th rounders. getting a potential great 3 and d player with end of 2nd round is common sense.
Its based on principle not practicality. If you are in win now mode you are using everything you can to improve your team to win. You think the GSW weren’t still trying to find a diamond in the rough in the 2nd round after winning all those championships?

good take. people should look at the history of 2nd round draft picks every single season and see how many of them lasted more than a couple seasons. a lot of 1st rounders don't even last that long and turn into formidable starters. people are reacting like they took Bronny with a lottery pick when that's not the case lol

If what we saw of Bronny in college is him working hard than he shouldn’t have been drafted. Working hard and being productive are two different things.
It would have been ridiculous for the Lakers not to have taken Bronny at 55. Check out First Things First's list of the last 10 years of players taken at spot 55, and it's likely that you won't recognize any of the names. Bronny probably has a better chance than most of bucking that trend. He's got an amazing work ethic, A+ basketball genes, and likely the same love of the game that his father does, which means he's going to be successful at some level. Only time will tell what that success is going to look like. The Lakers have always given off the "We're one big family" vibes, for as long as I've been a fan, which is one of the things I love about them. It likely killed them having to choose between Kobe and Shaq. Has that way of thinking hindered their chances of winning? Probably, but it's one of the things that fans likely love about this team without even realizing it. They are a loyal bunch, which is fine in my book. Amazing opportunity for the James family. I can't wait to see how it all plays out. Good luck Bronny!

Coach Reddick, you had a podcast with Draymond in which you talked about so many more NBA players getting drafted higher than they should because of upside and potential vs them actually proving they can play, and how the more experienced polished college players are getting drafted lower than they should. Now you are on a team that chooses to draft a guy who is so raw and has not shown he is ready to play and could have stayed in usc a little bit longer to improve his skills.
