Tenement Funster by Queen... Yeah not southern... I'd like to think Michael developed a British accent hanging around Loomis all that time.. And wore purple shoes
Theatrical Cut Laurie: Sympathetic Serial Killer Survivor Directors Cut Laurie: Someone who is so ungrateful for their survival and really shitty as a friend.
The Weird Al cameo was pretty bizarre , but then again this is the same franchise that had Busta rhymes killing off micheal , so it's not completely surprising "LOVE HURTS"
To be fair there was a deleted ending where Rhymes axes Michael in the head. So technically, yeah, you can see him kill Michael in one ending or another.
Malcolm McDowell is here just for the ride. He is amazing every time he opens his mouth. I like him in good movies but I adore him in a bad ones. Honestly, that shows his talent and range. Same with Brad Douriff, he is mostly in bad movies but every time he does his best.
@UCCJqUMmOEQp28KbVTksNFsg yeah very true how Malcolm could do something great with what he was given in this piece of shit..lol..great actor in a shitty film..
This movie was by far the hardest Halloween movie to sit through. Every single character is a monumental piece of shit - who am I supposed to root for?
And it's even worse that people actually tried to copy that style, things like the Chainsaw Massacre remake or Cabin Fever with all those annoying shits. That's not scary, it's just annoying.
"Don't you get it? That's what makes you want these people dead!" Whatever happened to sympathetic protagonists? We used to want to see people make it out of these and have the occasional asshole get what's coming to them, not have everyone be that last part.
It works sometimes but only when it isn't a reboot of a decent(ish) series!!! Like in House of a 1000 Corpses, 3 From Hell, and Devils Rejects it works because we have never seen the characters behave otherwise.
Exactly what I was saying. It spoiled it all for me. The sexual crudity, the over the top swearing, the whole sleaze culture just disgusted me. I am no prude but a decent human being to cheer for would have been nice. And destroying the character of Loomis? Why?
@@adorablecreature79 I've always loved Rob's appreciation of the genre, but something like Planet Terror pays homage to the genre and has characters to root for.
Oh lord, what did they do to you Dr. Loomis? You were one of the VERY few likeable characters in the last film, and then they turn you into THIS, WTF!!
Wouldn't it be great if Michael was actually dead and once Laurie had her boiler room dream Freddy pops up and the whole rest of the movie turns into a straight forward Elm Street flick? A Halloween movie where the twist is that it's not a Halloween movie at all.
It would actually be awesome to see a studio do something that clever. Even if it didn't work out that well, it'd be impressive to see them have the balls to do it. They'd still make their money back if they kept the budget within reason.
At least when Lynch does something fucked up it has meaning Zombie just does disturbing and messed up shit for the sake of creating disturbing and messed up shit
I thought the theatrical cut sucked, and then I saw pieces of the directors cut and was glad I didn't pay money for that one. Only thing about this movie that I cared about was the death of Annie, and that's because Danielle Harris is a phenomenal actress and scream queen and really sold the scene to me as terrifying and horrible.
It's as if Zombie said: "HOODIES! That's what was missing from the first one! Myers will be a hundred times scarier with a hoodie!" Rob Zombie movie = unlikable people being killed by EVEN MORE unlikable people who confuse annoying with madness. This franchise has ALMOST as many continuities as Godzilla. Convoy by the Starlight Vocal Band.
Brad, since the Halloween 3 episode of 80s Dan cannot be found on youtube, that means you have to make a proper Cinema Snob review of Halloween 3. It's the law.
This might be me not getting something but isn't this it? It was unlisted on Brads other channel ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1jzsmy8qdck.html
@@falloutghoul1, I enjoyed the first "RZ" film. Thought it was decent for what it was worth. The sequel, and Loomis's character in general. Hated it. Even though what he said was true, about it being foreshadowed in the first film. Got nothing but, love for Malcom McDowell either way. Sane for Brad Dourif.
It kind of made his character pointless, thereby making all of his scenes pointless, and chucking out all his existing character. I mean, they could have had it be some other writer, some sensationalist muckraker making a cheap drama out of a real-life tragedy, and it wouldn't really have changed much.
Dr. Loomis is supposed to be the guy who makes sure Michael never hurts anyone, and this movie turned him into an asshole in so much denial. Michael's freaking body disappeared, and if Loomis were actually in character, he would have stopped at nothing to find him.
Oh man. The town of Haddonfield has to watch out not from micheal but chief Unser was in the ambulance. Unser was on Samcro’s payroll. The SOA will flip that town upside down looking for Micheal.
For as non-subtle Zombie can be with his characterizations I have to give him credit for the final scene between Laurie and Annie. Kinda hard to watch when you remember Annie was once Jaimie Lloyd.
The first 30 minutes of Rob Zombie's Halloween 2 is amazing! But unfortunately after that the movie goes downhill... But at least we still have Mane's awesome performance as Michael Myers. And at end of the movie we have one the saddest scene in the entire franchise. Is when Sheriff Brackett see his daughter dead in the bathroom ( R.I.P Jamie ). That scene was very sad, and it was an excellent performance by Brad Dourif.
The first 30 minutes were not amazing. They just weren't as shit as the rest of this garbage film. That scene with the paramedics talking about fucking dead girls in the ass before they hit a random cow in the middle of the road was the opposite of amazing.
Jake The Deputy talking about having sex with dead bodys is a easter egg to Axel, the corone from Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter and the most amazing thing about the first 30 minutes is the hospital chase scene. Because Michael Myers looks like a badass and a champ holding a axe.
The sheriff's daughter was Annie, not Jamie...that was her character in the original Halloween films. Also Rob Zombie really should have just remade Friday the 13th or Texas Chainsaw Massacre instead of including Easter eggs to them, he's clearly more suited to those kinds of horror films than Halloween
One of the only movies I missed in theaters, bought the blue ray on release, and subsequently smashed the disk on the floor in a mezcal fueled rage. One of only two…
of course not. i came to that conclusion like 8 years ago. NC is lazy af, Brad is a very gifted writer; very creative with jokes he can put things in context with satire in a way few people can. brad also tends to have an actual opinion that isn't just "this looks funny" with high pitched shrieking. of course since NC is lazy and simple minded in his criticisms he will always have mainstream appeal and more fans. because life isn't fair.
Not at all! Doug and his brother are more than a little lazy when it comes to writing and actual criticism. Unfortunately, Doug also seems to be swayed by whatever the “internet’s” popular opinions are, and might not have the depth of film knowledge that Brad does. Brads videos are both very well written and very funny; perhaps more importantly, his opinions come from a knowledge of film and are unique. He’s comfortable enough with himself that he’ll even joke about the internet’s opinion or stand by a less popular reading of a movie if he believes that reading exists and needs to be told. Brad simply tries harder, and creates more rewarding content. He also doesn’t seem like a neck-bearded jerk... I can’t say the same for... other internet reviewers
Fun Fact, Lorrie was SUPPOSED to be the killer, but contractual obligations, blah blah blah, it was something that was different, & could've made the movie interesting, so they didn't let him do it.
I don't like that they showed Michael's face, but I would have been less mad if they at least put some imagination into it. Making him unshaven-but-otherwise-normal was just odd. You'd think Rob Zombie would have covered his face in scars and cigarette burns. Or run with the general theme of him being an unfeeling, unstoppable juggernaut and have entire flaps of skin missing and exposed bone. Or, sure, make him Hagrid from Harry Potter, whatever.
Isn't the whole point of Michael Myers being that he looks perfectly normal on the outside, but is actually a hollow shape without a soul? Hence why he wears an emotionless replica of the face of an actor known for his hamminess? In the 1978 original, when they remove his clown mask at the beginning, he looks like a perfectly normal middle class kid. So having him look like Freddy or Jason would kind of defeat the point, no?
They didn't show adult Michael until, what, H5 I think, and even that was brief and in the dark. He has an obsession with covering his face and has "The blackest eyes, the devil's eyes"--those are really the only identifying features of Michael, physically. Either his face shouldn't be shown, since he has always kept covered, or at least he should look...unsettling. Something about his look should be kinda Uncanny Valley, somehow inhuman--a beard does not do that. No, I don't want him to look like Jason under the mask, that was just comedic, but he should be the terrifying boogeyman, not a drunken hobo.
What? I don't...what? No, the point is that he's a monster, not a regular person, that he's so damn scary looking that Loomis became terrified of him even when he never spoke or moved. He's never blended in, seemed like a regular guy who, shock!, kills people (ala the Stepfather); he's always been freakish, ever since the day he killed his sister. And in this universe, he was a freak even as a little kid. Actually, as a kid in the 2007 version, he did look creepy, even if the actor was trying too hard. How did he become MORE NORMAL after spending 15 years in an asylum and then getting SHOT IN THE FACE?
Rob Zombie originally stated he would never do a sequel to Halloween, until the studio decided to make it. Then he signed on to write and direct, because he wanted to ruin it himself.
I think Zombie’s movies are the worst Halloween movies because they’re joyless, mean, gross, and kind of irritating. The other Halloween movies usually had something redeeming about them. Zombie wrote the biggest group of unlikeable characters outside of Annie and her dad. Everyone else was annoying and horrid. The plot of part 2 is laughably bad and pointless to put it lightly. Yes, Busta Rhymes doing king fu to Michael Myers is ridiculous, but it’s funny and memorable. I can’t say anything is either of those things for Zombie’s films. The only memorable thing about them is how unmemorable they are. Great review as always.
Alright, so something I literally just thought of watching this review. (I couldn't concentrate on the details while watching the film itself.) Why the heck is Laurie acting like the previous movie was all about her **before** she found out that she is Michael's sister? She wasn't the only one that went through that shit. Annie survived, as well.
I'm pretty sure I know why the go-to Lee Marvin film was "Paint Your Wagon" -- it's a Simpsons reference. Rob Zombie's mind went exactly where mine went and it's The Simpsons version of "Paint Your Wagon" which is glorious.
Dr. Loomis: Michael, we're going to hell! Michael: DIE!! *Stabs Loomis* I'm sorry but I bursted out laughing at that scene! Is this supposed to be a "Scary Movie" type parody horror film or an actual horror film?
When that dude was yelling at Michael that he’d told him he was gonna beat the fuck out of him if he caught him on his land again, and snob said “This had happened before?!”, that shit cracked me up. And on a really awful day when I’d been feeling really hopeless. Made my day, Cinema Snob! Thank you! 👍🏻❤️
My theory is that this film is actually a dream in Laurie's mind. Laurie has been seeing this all play out in her head as she has been institutionalized, hence why we see her in the hospital room at the end of the film. I think this should have been the reveal the end if the film but I feel that it is more hinted at then plainly stated. Perhaps Rob zombie wanted this ending to be more ambiguous than many people believed.
The Halloween movies have as many timelines and retcons as the X-Men movies. But we all know that the only thing that matters is that this time they retcon the death of Ben Tramer. #JusticeForBenTramer
Wow loomis is looking pretty good for a man who had his head crushed in. That was impressive plastic surgery. Almost as impressive as orginal lumas being brought back from being burned to death.
"If I want your opinion I'll beat it out of you. " Bwahahahahahahahaha I just pictured Elvira standing there looking at Malcom: "Hey. if you want to still my lines just ask.I dont mind sharing, just remember who said it first."
And Friday the 13th is more about the bloody/gruesome kills and high body counts than Halloween is as well, so it'd fit Rob Zombie's tastes far better on that front to.
I'm surprise this remake wasn't produced by Michael Bay like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), The Amityville Horror (2005), Friday The 13th (2009) and A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010). Not sure if that would've been better.
When it came to Halloween it was one of those "Hey, will you do this? If not, we will just give it to someone else" type of deals. So we could've just ended up with a souless cashgrab or something a bit different. I like that his movies didn't feel like just another Halloween sequel. When it came to Friday the 13th, he was already making H2 (since it made money, it was same deal as with the first one: "it's either you or someone else") and the critical reception of his first Halloween movie wasn't really great so I doubt Platinum Dunes would want him in the director's chair. If the circumstances would different though, yeah, he would be a better fit for that franchise and I would be interested in what he would do with it.
I know everyone says laurie is so annoying in this film but…. Its very realistic Im not even kidding ive almost heard word for word that whole scene of “I DONT WANT YOUR HELP GIVE ME MY PERSCRIPTION!” With the exact same voice from people goin through hell and ptsd and various other things Fact is when someone is mid mental breakdown and hanging on by a thread, they Are really annoying
John Ballard Long story short: During the Change The Channel drama, everyone left except for Brad. People took that as him enabling the site’s abuse, so they started harassing him everywhere, especially on Twitter. I mean, I don’t like how dismissive he was about this but that doesn’t give anyone the right to give him death threats.
Rob Zombie apparently made this movie weird and stupid on purpose because he never wanted to make it in the first place. I'll give him credit for taking advantage of the full creative control but the movie still sucks. Second worst movie I've ever seen in a theater.
Malcolm McDowel needs to be in more things, just generally. I saw a documentary that described him in passing as someone “whose pretty-boy looks faded and led to him making a living off direct-to-video villain roles” and I’ll be damned if that bad take becomes his predominant legacy in the public mind.
