@@CeasefireNow2024 agree why would she need to? She’d just had THREE consecutive number 1s by herself at the time of their summer of 2000 adventure. You only tip of the press if you need to. Geri was hot property then.
@@originalindiechick7999 Robbie said in the documentary that he judged it wrong at the time due to the emotional instability he had due to all the negative things that fame brought him. So why is this person with a fake profile still coming here to accuse Geri? Geri only did good for him and from the documentary you can see that it was his most genuine moment of happiness.
I was 15 when this song came out in 2001, I was in love with it then and I am still in love with it now that I am 32. The only difference now, is that every time Robbie Williams says "Youth is wasted on the young, before you know it's come and gone too soon", it hits me real hard, because I just realized how the years went by so fast.
Yeah. If that scene of Robbie and Guy in the documentary does actually capture the moment of the song's creation (and I'm not totally sure it does), then we get to witness something really powerful there. It reminds of the part in Get Back where we see Paul McCartney pull Get Back itself out of thin air. Guy and Robbie had a great partnership. At any rate, witness how though the chords in the second and fourth measure are the same, Guy goes somewhere slightly different on the third (as opposed to the first measure). Little touches like that really bring some light and shade to this track. Robbie is bringing the melody and Guy wringing every drop out of it. Stellar songwriting!
This song was part of my life where I was in a violent relationship, in another country and estranged from my family and was trying to free myself but all my doors were closed. I managed to arrange a weekend visit back home to a friend's celebration and on a service break on the coach journey a guy asked me for a light and we got talking. He kept in contact and gave me the strength to reconcile with my parents and they rescued me from the life I was in. The guy and I lost contact but this song means so much to me about him and that time. I'll always be so grateful for his help and what he did for me.
@@kattygarciah.5433 I can only remember his first name and the town he was from in Scotland. His job however took him all over England and as such he lived out of a suitcase, hotel hopping and only popped back to Scotland every now and again. It would be hard to trace him. He would occasionally drop by for a few minutes when I'd moved back home and the last time that happened had a very much final time feel to it for us both. He was completely aware of what he had helped me to do and how grateful I was. At the time I kind of fell for him as well but it was not something he could commit to at the time. I'll always remember him though.
@@cherylkeles3875 - Hi, Cheryl, ohh...so because of his job he has there and here ;;(...even though you were able to tell him what you really felt at that moment for him ai guess that's all that in fact matters...and why not trying to ask a friend his last name (well...that's only an advice). Even if I don't know you I wish you had an awesome holiday's days with your loved ones. Aa hug from Peru... I know you're gonna know about him, Cheryl ♡°♡°♡°°
Just by his voice I know how beautiful it is. Actually I don't even know this song, just searching for some old songs from Robbie Williams, except Supreme, because I want retro music so bad.
Apart from being a timeless classic, the video is brilliant! Robbie had some of the best music videos on TV back then. This, along with "Supreme" and "Millennium," to mention a few, are iconic in my opinion. I was 16 when this was released. Youth is indeed wasted on the young. #Legend
Loved loved loved early days Robbie, especially early 2000's, Sing When You're Winning and Swing When You're Winning. That era, so special. He's too much of a try hard show off now with a pretty unlikeable personality, which puts me off listening to any of his recent stuff. Haven't played a single record from his newest album.
He are and still is big in Denmark where I live. He plays 2 concert 2 day in a row in february in diffrent cities and then he are comming back for a festival as well later. - I dont know if the last is sold out but the 2 first are ;-) He often plays at Parken stadion in Copenhagen when he is here but not this time though. Parken can have about 50.000 - 55.000 people and he can fill the stadion 2 days in a row with no problems. The 2 first concerts next I think there can be about 30.000 - 35.000 so no problem for him to sell tickets here ;-) Im going to see him at the 2 concerts in a row and will be my 7. and 8. concert with him :-)
There is a teeny weeny bit of autotune on the actual line 'summer dreamin' in this song but its deliberate, not because he cant sing. I'm ok with that amount of it & not disaster area AT syndrome like all that Ellie Goulding shite!
Have always had a penchant for this one. More after watching docu about him, so well done, and it makes a lot of sense. He can surely do great ballads, Feel&She's the one prove that too! ❤RW❤
Only found out last month Robbie wrote this song for Geri Horner (formerly Halliwell) aka Ginger Spice, as a thank you for helping him during a difficult period in his life. Imagine having a song this beautiful written for you.
Close your eyes so you don't feel them They don't need to see you cry I can't promise I will heal you But if you want to I will try I sing this summer serenade The past is done we've been betrayed It's true Someone said the truth will out I believe without a doubt in you (chorus) You were there for summer dreaming and you gave me what I need and I hope you'll find your freedom for eternity, for eternity Yesterday when you were walking We talked about your mom and dad What they did that made you happy, What they did that made you sad We sat and watched the sun go down Picked a star before we lost the moon Youth is wasted on the young before you know it's come and gone too soon You were there for summer dreaming and you gave me what I need and I hope you find your freedom for eternity, for eternity I sing this summer serenade the past is done we've been betrayed it's true youth is wasted on the young before you know it's come and gone too soon you were there for summer dreaming and you are a friend indeed and I hope you'll find your freedom for eternity you were there for summer dreaming and you are a friend indeed and I know you'll find your freedom eventually
I listened to this song when my dad passed away in 2013. It helped me through my early days of losing him. I still shed a tear everytime I hear this song anywhere. I miss you, Dad. We'll be together again someday...
My younger brother passed away in 2019. He was only 35. I miss him every single day but, like you, what gets me through is knowing that I will see him again. Take care of yourself. I’m sure your Dad watches over you and is so proud of his son!❤️😇
For Ginger Spice...2 souls that where there for each other. Beautiful connection. Us lost ones all need a soulmate at some point... Long live that beautiful connection of uncomplicated love..
I have never been a big friend of pop music and Robbie Williams but I must admit that his music is far better than anything that is released today because he really has talent and passion for what he did.
Don`t understand how such a beautiful song like this, didn¨t chart in the States... I just discovered it on the radio, and it was like love at first sight...you became one with this kind of songs, inmediately.... Thank you, Robbie, for another jewel.
It wasn't released in the states as a single. Millennium n Angels were the only 2. I don't understand how he doesn't dominate in uk anymore. I know he's older but his songs are all classic
RobSKIDDY: Because his later stuff (I.e. pretty much anything after Escapology) is terrible. Guy Chambers was the songwriting powerhouse behind RWs solo career. Anyone with a half decent voice could have topped the charts with such perfect pop songs. Robbie forgot who was the real driver behind his success .
Dawsons Creek used a lot of his stuff. But the US didn't really 'get' his ad campaign there when he tried to break America: the billboards "the ego has landed" were a mistake I think. Plus its huge, it takes time to do every radio station & city for promo etc.
No just robbie but music in the old days were superior and in the last 20 years we can mention a few good artists but the last 10 years music popular music is totally crap , generic , cheap , retarded .... very bad ... robbie compared to them is a genius.
I first listened this song back when I was just a 3rd grader, at that time I can't believed I listened to a song that became my summer serenade for eternity ♥
+Sarah Bird He's just stunning. I was around 5 I think when I heard this. Now I'm a musician. And I just came back to listening to this and I remember why. This man is just a magnificent entertainer, artist, musician. Stunning song.
Stephen Ridley eat o hear you are a musician. I hope to become an amateur musician at old age because at 47 I have not even started to learn but I will this year: the guitar and flute. Which instrument do you play and at what age did you start learning... howmany hours per day?
One of the most beautiful song ever. This is mine and Ann's all time favorite since we met 20 years ago. Brings back many, many good memories of our passionate, loving, and lustful relationship! We are eternal. And We're very close like our souls knew each other. She has heart problems, passed out lifeless many times. Breathe life into her and revive her each time. I have stage 4 cancer and she keeps me alive.
Siempre amé sus canciones. Años enteros de mi vida, acompañados de su música ❤. Después de ver su historia en Netflix, me dí cuenta del significado de muchas de sus letras. Gracias ❤
I literally forgot Robbie Williams and his songs existed until just a few moments ago when the lyric "Youth is wasted on the young" was brought to my mind looking at an old picture of me and my sister, and the song immediately came flooding back fully-formed into my brain behind those words. I love Robbie's writing and voice, and I'm very thankful to have rediscovered him! And wow, listening to this song now is quite a bit different from when I heard or sang it last, a good 2 or 3 years ago by my reckoning- a few more of those years have piled up behind us and this song has a much greater, heartbreaking impact on me.
..... "Youth is wasted on the young, Before you know it has come and gone Too Soon" ..... So make good use of our energy and time that is left. It's True.
@@thekingisback4541 He may be Muslim like you say, but what he said about Youth is TRUE. You must look at what's been said. Not WHO said it ! GRAND imbécile !
when all is so bleak and so dull, when the world is closing-in with all the problems, music is truly my best friend, and this song sets the mood just about right!

If I have the opportunity to watch a concert Robbie William is the one I want to watch. It makes me fall in love because his songs have substance and a beautiful voice. From Philippines❤
