@dinosaursmate3870 ad libs are words, phrases, or sometimes sounds added without preparation. In this case, it would be going off script, but it can also be done when recording a song. Like the word game, (M)ad Libs, you're contributing something in the moment.

Personally, as an aspiring writer, I don’t mind if an actor adlibs or paraphrases as long as they are bringing my character to life. In some instances, an actor can know a character as good as (and some times better than) the author. It can truly bring the character to life, which is why actors that do adlib are much more loved by the audience.
