Ex-GW member. Many of us are very hurt by all of this. I’m not in the leadership, but it is clear that GW covered this up - starting with Robert Morris who announced he was stepping down today. My heart is broken for the victim and all of those who in good faith, supported Pastor Morris throughout the years and believed he was expressing humility when describing his marital infidelity and subsequent restoration, when really - it was a lie that was covering a crime that had been committed years ago. Church restoration does not cover criminal acts of such an egregious nature. It is appalling that he was put back into ministry and now the chickens have come home to roost. So a young girl’s innocence was stolen, GW’s legacy will be forever tarnished, a man who was once a revered pastor’s reputation has been completely destroyed, and the rest of those at GW are left to pick up the pieces. God is a jealous God. The era of people worshipping celebrity pastors is over and the true church is about to emerge from the highways and the byways - the nobodies who simply love Jesus and want nothing more than to see others come into a real relationship with Him. They want all the glory for Him and none for themselves. Pay attention - one of you readers may be that very person whom God has chosen for such a time as this.
he lied to his church for years saying it was young lady when she was 12 plus he lied about tithing wanting a demon to destroy your family if you did not pay himi called on him to repent years ago for lying about tithing when the early church did not preach it tony even and morris to lying tithe preachers have to step down if you get the money part wrong in preaching i cant trust nothing u preach i hope the woman can find peace and keeps on taking to make sure the church wakes up many have idol as pastors
@@conceptualclarity He couched it as an affair and talked about how the Lord dealt with him concerning confessing it to his wife. The truth was, he was molesting a 12-year-old girl, had been doing so for 4.5 years, and only came clean when the girl's dad called Robert's pastor and demanded that he step down from ministry - which he also lied about. He only stepped down for a month. He was then employed with James Robinson as a call center supervisor and then a short time later, he was back evangelizing... to youth groups 😩 All of us assumed (because we were lied to) that he was talking about an affair with someone his own age - NOT a child. Obviously, he couldn't tell the truth, because he would be thrown in prison. So naturally, people conclude that it was a deliberate attempt to deceive.
Unfortunately, her parents did not go to the police in ‘87, instead opting to go to the church. Seems they cared more about him being sat down from ministry than preventing other children from being harmed. He should have done some hard time. Too late now.
Since this is a spiritual matter too, is it too strange to think that if you have watched lustfully anyone you are pretty much in the same category , to God's eyes? Anyone called someone a fool? Even worse you deserve hell str8 up That's pretty much the judgment from the most powerful being on the planet so basically if you fit the bill, maybe you can hold on on your sentencing and try to reflect on how the lord might be seeing thing, his perspective and all . Brethren stay blessed
Are you serious in cautioning people who believe he should be in jail?!!!! Well, let me post the words of an attorney who weighed in on this for you Corey! “I was responsible for prosecuting people for doing the same things Robert Morris did to Cindy Clemishire. The only difference is that most of them are still sitting in prison, while he’s been preaching in front of thousands, week in and week out for decades.”
@kinder You just be sure that all of your wicked and vile and disobedient consentual sexual contacts are repented for if not you may be flame mates with Robert the child molester.
How you know it wasn't, I thought the bible spoke about fruits of repentance and not words of repentance. Have you monitored the fruits of his repentance for the past 35 years?
Then this covered up behavior should have disqualified him from becoming a pastor. How do you preach against immorality while having buried or glossed over your own? Or do you just skip over the subject? If he was a married man at the time this was adultery. He sinned against God and his wife. Leonard Ravenhill said the first church was married to poverty, prison and persecution. But today's church is about popularity, personality and prosperity. People with the gift of gab are being allowed in pulpits who have no business being there. They're being given false authority over God's flock because they are glib, entertaining and charismatic. (Meanwhile having no moral authority to lead.) But Paul wasn't considered any of those things. The "super apostles " disparaged Paul because he didn't match up against them in terms of superficial qualifications (looks, eloquence). But Paul was the real deal, sealed by God. The kingdom of God consists of power not talk.
@FaithandNova The roles are far from being the same. A pastor shepherds a specific flock, an evangelist does not. Either way, Morris' actions were wrong, I was just pointing out for accuracy.
He SA'd a 12 year old girl for almost 5 years. He admitted it even though he tried to soft pedal it and couch it in euphemisms while trying to preach a sermon to his congregants. He should be in jail. She was a child. A child. Saying he should be in jail is not remiss nor out of line. He practiced to deceive for years.
I 100% agree, obviously if he had been found guilty back in 1987, he probably wouldn't be still in jail, but he should have been turned in . First by the father, second, by the elders.
This dude is with ARC. He is not repentant. Had this not come to light, he would still be there. He lied about it in a book. The elders basically defended him in the letter they released
What is ARC? 🤔 I agree he's not repentant because I remember how ANGRY he got at people who don't pay their (Old Testament Law) tithes. As I recall, he said, "If you're not going to pay tithes, don't even come to church."
@Monorail-Beyond-the-Veil A(ssociation) of R(elated) C(hurches). Gateway is technically not in ARC, but until this came out, he was one of the Apostolic Overseers of the head ARC church, Church of the Highlands (COTH), until this news came out and Hodges dropped him like a bad habit.
How does 1 know if a brother is truly repentant or not? I don't know how a lot of ppl just assume he is not truly repentant. It's like they are God in a way. Let me ask this general question...the most despicable thing you have committed in secret, maybe you even hurt someone, you came to repentance and confess and told the lord no more, so How does your family, how does your congregation how do we actually know you truly repented. If you hurt a person in the process, how do you "unhurt" the person. I mean, it's just strange how we are so quick to see everything that's wrong with others sometimes without even seeking God's perspective or come back to our own shortcomings experiences.
What heretical teaching yall everything you didagree with isnt heretical....if u hold to a belief that i dont necessarily agree with am i able to call you a heretic
@@zimmoton3698 Well now. I have spent my adult life distributing the word of God around the world. I trust it (alone) as the actual true revelation of God. God said it was you know. It says not to add to the Word. Don't put words into God's mouth that he didn't say. That is why prophets who told untrue things were stoned with God's blessing. God is jealous of his word and to say God did this or that or God told me this or that. it has to be true. I don't want to be talking for God. Let's start with all those who "prophets" who called the 2020 election for Trump ahead of time. How come no one was disciplined for lying about God after they said God told me to tell you this lie? How come none of your prophets got a single word from God about this child molesting pastor? Was God keeping his secret? The Bible says no way!
Get rid of the Gateway Elders - they did not do their due diligence - especially if the abused went to them and they ignored her without an investigation. That makes them complicit.
Two to three weeks ago, a sermon on presbytery was taught. Along with that, this pastor stated how the Holy Spirit chose this pastor. Man picked this pastor and now he is resigning, and running. The whole world knows. The Lord is beginning to clean HIS house and will expose all of the corruption in HIS house. Many have used the gospel for financial profit. News like this is what causes people to lose faith in God. If you are out there and reading this comment, know that God is still in control and spring cleaning HIS house.
Of course he stepped down. No pediphiles in the pulpit. Being a heretic is one thing but a sexual predator is even too much for that “church”. Also, he was forced out, he didn’t want to step down and the elders tried to give him cover, the only reason he stepped down was because of the outrage.
You are right. That letter they sent out to the congregants ran cover for him. When they didn't fall for it, they forced him out. Just like Hodges from COTH dropped him like a bad habit the day after the news broke.
Just in time for retirement!!! I know that is not appropriate to say but I am still upset about this entire ugliness. But I will pray for him, and the victim as well.
Isn’t this between him and GOD? Where do you come in on this situation. It doesnt sound right. But this is between him and God? You do not see that the world is using this to destroy the church? We need to stick together for these people that are being accused of things that God may have forgiven him for 35 years ago.
@@blueeyesftlaud6593 oh they are being exposed! That's for sure! But the harvest of the Lord doesn't come until the end of the age (see Matt 13:37-43) Matthew 13:37-43 - 37 He answered and said to them: “He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. 38 The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked one. 39 The enemy who sowed them is the devil, the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are the angels. 40 Therefore as the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of this age. 41 The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness, 42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43 Then the righteous will shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
Cite scripture that agrees with your statement I’ve never read what you just stated in the Word. Sounds like a human opinion to me but if I’m wrong cite the passage please.
The pastor was just hoping it just goes away in silence. He certainly wouldn't have brought it up if the victim didn't speak up. If not jail time, at least he should register as a sex offender.
What bothers me the most is Gateway kept him there in spite of knowing the truth. I guess money is more important that child sex abuse. Who can trust church leadership anymore?
I'm sorry im confused? She was 12 and we should NOT say he needs to go to jail? If he is truly repentant praise the Lord. IF he did this he should still go to jail. Maybe my facts are wrong I am happy to be found wrong.
The statute of limitations ran out some time ago, so there is no legal possibility of him going to jail. Therefore, we need not focus on that. Just that the Lord's will be done moving forward
@@smartchristiansSo, there's no reckoning or acknowledgement that this man abused a little girl for half a decade and still speaks of said abuse as if it was an affair between two consenting adults? What does this say to abuse victims in the church?

This is damage control. His elders will play the game. His congregation will defend him to the end. He will disappear for a year or 2 and will everything will be handed back to him. We have seen it happen time and time again in these woke seeker sensitive emerging churches. And the NAR is the “icing on the cake”.
Corey, the fact that you cannot bring yourself to say that this individual assaulted was a minor is quite damning. You seem to take a lighter handed approach in this situation compared to previous incidents of other preachers who may have a less conservative lean like Jamal Bryant, TD Jakes, etc. I believe some introspection is needed on your part to understand why your response is as such. The fact that you can’t truly call this thing what it is, is quite disturbing. May God give you wisdom as you introspect.

I don't know about "applauding" him. He had no choice but to step down. If Robert Morris had it his way he'd still be pastoring and his secret would go with him to the grave. Applause would have been him being honest 30 years ago.
I'm not from the US but think Corey's point is that we should be cautious about baying for our pound of flesh. With that said, does the law allow for him to be arrested after all these years? Who should take the step to get him arrested? Thank you
🤨Y'all do know that we can forgive and be forgiven by God and He still allow us to face the consequences of our sin right🤨 ??? Robert should be charged for his crime (if the victim wants to go that route). I keep seeing comments comparing Robert Morris (and Tony Evans) to King David. Yes, King David sinned, repented, was forgiven by God, but he still faced the consequences of his actions. As a result, his family was a mess, he had to run away from his son, Absalom, who was trying to kill him and take the throne, and David died, not as honorably as we romanticize his story.......because earthly, physical consequences do exist. And we have to abide by the laws of the land and submit to earthly authority as commanded in 1 Peter 2:13-14
He DISqualified himself with false teaching (like kenotic heresy while preaching Philippians 2). Now we see that he was always UNqualified too, and the "church" (they didn't address his false teaching) did not investigate thoroughly enough to make sure the man they were appointing as an elder was "above reproach".
Sin is terrible and it hurts all of us. The ultimate goal is that all brethren return to Christ. Let’s pray that his heart and soul are right with God. Let’s also pray for the victim or victims to be healed by God. At the end of the day all that matters is that God gets the glory and so whatever the outcome is God will ultimately get the glory.
One thing I've barely heard about, but I find very concerning. Is this lady said she had talked to many churches about what happened, and they told her to forgive and say nothing, if I understood what was said. She finally, only recently got some one to believe her and help her with the situation. We know she had spoken to Robert or his attorney at least, as recently as 2005, 19 years. It would be interesting if she revealed the names of these churches and the pastors who treated her this way. If true their guilty of mistreating her as morris is. I commend this woman for her faith and steadfast belief, weaker christian would have lost faith and probably denounced Christianity.
💖My suggestion to all Christians: Ask God to show you yourself, your heart, and allow God to work on you. Desire and work on having an ever-growing intimate relationship with God. Draw close to God and God will draw close to you (James 4:8). You draw close to God by getting to know God. You get to know God by spending time with God in reading, studying, and meditating upon God’s Word. To know God is to love God with all your heart, mind, soul, body, and strength. And when you really know God, you will love Him. Live in God's Word and let God’s Word live in You. Be a doer of God’s Word and not a hearer or reader only. Spend time with God daily in prayer. Pray about everything. Pray for the gift of discernment. Seek God’s face. Learn God’s voice. Keep your focus on God. Be faithful to God. If someone tells you something that does not line up with the Word of God, denounce it. God can’t lie and God will never go against His Word. Ask God to show you yourself, your heart, and allow God to work on you. Ask God to show you the hearts of the people you allow close to you. And be prepared to let some people go.
I've seen this exact story play out before at a smaller church with different characters. The exact same excuses were given and it was implied for no one to say anything. I've always questioned whether I made the right choice by saying nothing. Hindsight is always 20/20 and if I could go back I would have contacted authorities. Us as the body of Christ cannot let these sheep in wolf's clothing go unchecked in the church.
It's the same ole script. Get caught, repent for "moral failure/shortcomings/failed standards," resign, hand the church over to a child, control the church through said child, keep cashing checks 😎

Corey, now that this has happened, my questions are: (1) Should the congregants/supporters/financial supporters know the nature of the church leader's sin so they can decide if they want to continue supporting the leader's ministry? ("Should we know the sin" was a topic in the Tony Evans video that's why I'm asking) (2) Can we trust the elders to make a biblical decision if the church leader's supporters don't know the nature of the sin? What if they don't rightly apply the scriptures concerning disciplne?
I know that I am not Corey, but I think they absolutely should. This is basically church discipline. This person is being sat down, they are a member of the church, and the church should know why.
@@qianashaw8167 I agree with you. It's just, I feel like many of the RU-vidrs, Corey included, are showing favoritism to these leaders. We should pray for them and forgive them, but also uphold the scriptures. We can rebuke in love.
He was supposedly a Christian when this happened...so it's not like he has the "I was unsaved / undegenerated" excuse...I find the condemning part being FOUR-fold. 1) He admits he was a Christian AND married at the time 2) He was only "sorry" AFTER he got caught...NOT by his own confession 3 ) the unforgivably LONG YEARS of time the sin continued 4) He continues to down-play the seriousness of the abominable sin ( against a child ) AND STILL tried to cover his guilt by using a tool of the fallen world...a Non Disclosure Agreement. All of these together ABSOLUTELY and OBVIOUSLY DISQUALIFY him from the ministry...this is not only a NO BRAINER...it is obviously BIBLICALLY MANDATED !! I would actually support a criminal charge since he is also STILL in denial of how serious an offense this was !?!?!
There is an old country saying about people who can fall in it and come out smelling like a rose, that's robert morris he's worth an estimated 110 million. All that money he said was for God's work was really to enrich himself. He can't be tried for it now, there is a statute of limitations. He gets the money and the shame. The elders at the time in 1987 get some of the blame, they should have turned him in. I am tired of hearing from his supporters "no one's perfect" or " cast the first stone" of all the people I've known in the last 45 years 99 % wouldn't molest a pre teen girl, that's beyond disgusting, and his supporters act like he had a beer after church. He made a lot off of the tithe lie maybe people will.think.twice about his lies to fleece the flock.
Good. Touching a child is forgivable but should never be allowed back in the leadership position. I understand an affair between two consenting adults and can be forgiven later to be restored to a leadership position but never a teen or child. Poor girl. 😔
@@joshuacavender1536 I know. I am waiting for the Tony Evans leaker next. I made the comment because I am quite familiar with Morris and his crew that has not seemed to cast him out for a moment. I am expecting him to be in my town, secretly being restored and for him to emerge and say that 30+ years ago he was giving his all to ministry and was just tired and spent and he fell for the trick of the Enemy and a young temptress. It is the usual play.
He never should have been allowed to return to that pulpit all those years ago. Had this happened in a state without a statute of limitations on sex offenses, he would likely be facing prosecution and possible jail time. His years behind that pulpit are forever tainted, in my opinion, as he was not Biblically qualified to be there.
I believe that any pastor that gets caught up in sexual sin should be deemed disqualified, and never be allowed to return to the pulpit, that includes people such as Tony Evan's, because as the word of God has declared "A overseer must be above reproach."
This is why we must be careful extending COMPLETE forgiveness to Tony Evans at this time. We do not have enough specific information on his sin for restoration yet. As to Robert Morris, good riddance. Resigning now is the least you can do. Every dime you made after 1987, you owe it to that family.
Didnt want to say this but dear brethren i challenge anyone who has the courage to bring publicly all their dirty laundry i mean the stuff you know you did in secret even as a Christian and even if you repented, things you did in the past, your eyes, your body your mind, bring them out and let us evaluate and judge you now, not based on who you are now but we will judge you based on what you have done and decided if you should be fit to even talk about christ, or proclaim the gospel. So brethren challenge opened. Everything hidden shall come to light right? Challenge opened
What came to me was the seething pot in Jeremiah 1:13: Gods judgement because of idolatry a fierce anger. Idolizing a pastor, or any human, idolizing oneself, or any other gods outside of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.Idolatry can also be puffing up yourself, walking in unrepented sins and thinking all is cool
the issue with Robert Morris is a 40 year old issue. I know this from a very close friend who has been Pastor Robert's pastor and mentor for many years. He is not the same man he was 40 Years ago. Jesus has changed his life. Paul was a man who condoned the murder of Christians, had a life changing encounter with Jesus and He has been used of God to write powerful words that have become Holy Scripture.
3:08 hoping and praying it was for a godly reason to step down....NO! how can you say that u need a godly reason to step down after such an ungodly act, a common sense of decency, responsibilty, shame and I can mention more worldly concepts should be enough. Your integrity just fell. Think about what you said
There are glaring differences in the way the moderator admonishes certain evangelicals versus others. Wish there was consistency in the fervor being directed to all who have made errors while serving as clergy
Don't use grace to commit sin in church. Pastors are not above the law, discipline came late, was it even handled properly in the 1980s. I don't trust these people anymore.
The more I hear about this person, the more I’m disgusted. He needed to have deliverance from demons the way he used predatory tactics to gain self gratification. What did he tell this innocents girl to keep her quiet continue the molestation. He should have been turned in and gone to jail for a long time instead lived a lie and deceived his congregation, and become wealthy. He actually gave sermons on what he used to do to find his victims. So wicked and evil… and now his son takes over all he’s built on lies. I heard somewhere where his wife forgave the girl. What kind of lie did Morris tell his wife. That a little girl seduced him? Insane…
and even if a child were to “seduce” an adult…so? They’re still a child, and he’s still the adult. And I mean, really, if that’s the lie he told his wife it makes absolutely no sense on that premise alone. “The child seduced me, it’s her fault”? How much critical thinking could the wife be lacking in order to buy into that?? This whole situation is so frustrating
@@am433I agree just because a clown tells you to go inside his van to get a taco don’t mean you should go. Corey, I am glad that you mentioned the elders. I hope that more thought is given to the person who replaces him. I've heard that his son is taking his place. A church is not a business. I hope that they seek out a worthy (in the sight of GOD) candidate.
Hey brother. I just want to commend you for your willingness to discuss controversial topics in your channel. In June of 1989, after a youth music minister at Prestonwood Baptist Church (John Langworthy) admitted to church officials that he had molested at least one student in the late 1980s; he was terminated immediately. Since church officials failed to report it to the authorities (as was required under the State Family Code), he was able to go on to become a youth music minister at a church in Mississippi. Unfortunately, he was later accused of abusing young boys again. John Langworthy, a former youth minister at Prestonwood, resigned from the Mississippi church not long after someone spoke up and soon faced criminal charges in that state. He pleaded guilty to molesting five boys between the ages of 6 and 13. In May of 2008, an associate minister at Prestonwood was arrested for soliciting sex from a 13-year-old girl. Two days later, Senior Pastor Jack Graham addressed the scandal from the pulpit. In his address, Dr. Graham said the accused associate minister had been terminated.

My question is this: What pastor can anyone have if the requirement is that they are sinless? What if this pastor is already was fully repentant and healed 12 or 13 or 14 years ago?
True true man of God knows not too fool around with the under age. He may steal things cuss like a sailor drank a few beers smoke a few blunts in hus prime but he didn’t let any once of sexual temptation override him.

When God begins to judge this world, he will start with his church first. Those who are not of him will fall. Put your trust in King Jesus. Not man. Many church leaders will fall in the last days. Eveything will be exposed in the light that is hidden. Pray for the victim and her family. Pray for the church teachers. They're not leaders but teachers. They're sinners too. Nobody is good but God.
Sir, you are being careful with your words because of your soft words on Tony Evans. I told you not to put your integrity on the line. If this were Jamal, you would be much more direct and aggressive. Stepping down is obvious. Every mother who had a little girl in that church has a right to sue for misleading from 1987. They had a right to know their pastor abused a 12 year old AND not an affair with a "young lady!" I say again, watch the Tony Evans story. We do not (yet) have specifics on is sin.
I totally agree with you. It seems that Corey turns a blind eye to some major issues because of his fondness for the person. He did that with Marcus, Tony, and now this guy…..not a good look. Makes me think twice about listening to him.
