I am not ashamed to say that I am 98 on the 5th Dec and still get goose bumps listening to this. I am still playing in a local band and believe, me I intend to be here for another 20 years, performing live and chasing the chicks. Age is just a number.
LOL............. That is so cool well happy birthday to you young sir. I'm 50, I'm a guitarist , Been Playing since i was 14 Been singing for the last 4 years I agree, Age is just a number, i didn't believe it when i was 30, but now at 50, I do. I'm gonna wait and see what 70 looks like , But if your'e saying at 98... Age is still just a number and you're rocking out I'M INCLINED TO TAKE YOUR WORD FOR IT you are literally the definition of ............ ROCK ON FOREVER \m/ \m/ I salute you.... And not joking ....... You have my respect
So great to hear about this. I am "only" 52 and I don't feel old at all. I think the best thing you can do is to keep on doing what you like and trying out new things. 98 ...I hope I will be as fit as you are at that age :)
I wasn't even born when Stairway to Heaven was written, but when I heard it, as a little girl, I couldn't help but love the song and the band. One of my romantic dreams was to get married on the beach with this song as the soundtrack. It won't happen but living on the same planet as Robert Plant and now at 43 years old, seeing him sing one of my favorite Rock songs is a privilege. Even more so at a benefit concert organized by another idol, Andy Taylor. Cheers to you boys. Thanks for that!
Awesome, I'm now 56 & didn't think I'd still be seeing him still singing. There is no telling how many school dances I went to, that this song was the closer!!! Thank-You for sharing your talent, over so many decades Mr Plant!!!
After all the controversy this piece of history has made a marvelous comeback ....It has such a meaning under it those hidden lyrics .the truth to see iafter the vail has. Lifted the deep beautiful meaning, makes it one for our generation to come without hesitation .Honey you are absolutely without words to describe .....GOD BLESS YOU Dear❤❤❤❤ WHEREVER YOU ARE .....
❤😮 still in awe of the greatest vocalist to ever do the job of entertaining the public, God Bless you, Mr. Robert Plant I'm still in love with you and always will be ! 🎉❤
I was scrolling & ran across this Bless his heart can't believe he still sounds the same & lead guitar was very nostalgic & that gave me goose bumps, PHENOMENAL❤❤❤❤
***Robert Plant, I know you don't like to play this song and I never thought I would ever see you play it again live and I don't think you realize how much this means to millions and millions of people around the world. Thank you ,thank you, thank you!***
Yes. I heard in the past Robert didn't see this as the ultimate Led Zep song. I can understand his side of it because they were so much more but we all have to admit this is one of those immortal songs that's so loved and identified with people all over the world. Keep rocking Robert. ❤❤❤
Thank you Sir for keeping this song in your heart and sharing with us! It has a special meaning for me too when I lost my Dad of cancer at only 52 years old!!
Stairway is a song that Led Zep have played at each concert after its release. So: don't tell me that Robert didn't like it. And after all, the band knew pretty well that each member of the audience was waiting for this huge moment...
Fellas please stop 🛑 with making excuses for your fing wonder and very blessed advanced age privilege. Age is NOT “just a number” for God sake!!! You are a far more sophisticated and ; if you have worked on it, enlightened soul than we were younger.
I'm 66. I've been on a million musical journeys in my life, and yet, this song was such a huge part of my youth and my life that it can't be forgotten. I don't give a shit how he sings at 75, that was still perfect in my ears. Still gives me chills everytime.
I'M also in my Early sixties and have been a LZ fan since I was a teenager and I AM Astonished HOW Great Robert SOUNDS!! HE still makes me cringe and feel so Good!! MY only regret is WHERE'S PAGE?? BOY THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN GREAT. BUT ROCK ON ROBERT AND THANK YOU FOR DOING THIS SONG I LOVE,A ROCK GOD LIVES ON AND ROCKS OUT!!!!!
@@Dandoskyballer You rehash that at a party trying to impress girls? Sounds like Charlie Browns Teacher when I hear people z5ay that....How about trying something else?
@@bas4903They were actually the "New Yardbirds" for about 2 seconds in 1968. To fulfill a few short contractual obligations and moved on quickly to tour after the release of Led Zeppelin I in January of 1969
Of course it's not the same, and that's what makes it unique. You may never know when will be the last time a legendary song is sung by its original performer. This is both heartbreaking and beautiful
That's all I could think about watching this, could be the final time he performs Stairway and if so I hope he enjoyed it and got his final kick giving that lucky crowd a once in a lifetime show. I'm likely never going to get to experience the beast live so I'm envious of them for that
Truly beautiful! My ex-husband use to play this song for me on his guitar, so it brought tears to my eyes. He is now in Heaven. Thank you for sharing this✝️
I am old enough to remember when that album came out and the first time I heard that song I got chills from it because it is so great of a song. Hearing him sing it here I got them chills again. He did a wonderful job at singing it and the band played it splendidly. That was a great thing to watch. Thank you.
I was a sophomore the first time I heard this. My friend went to a dance and told me about this magical song that she heard. We went to a guy’s house and he had the album. She was right-it’s magical!!!
Plant pissed away decades without Zeppelin. There is no other way to say this. Look at Rush. They stuck together and appreciated their good fortune to be able to make music for a living. I’m a musician who’s been stuck in the slave system like 99.99% of the world. It’s bizarre to see how Plant didn’t understand how fortunate he was. 🤷
I think he understood it. He didn't want to stay stuck in the same place, needed to move on. Especially after his dear friend was no longer there. Rush is a different story entirely. It's apples and oranges.
@@markravitz1684Well said. He's also put out some great, though admittedly very different from Zep, music in the years since. Music that may not have been possible if he was struggling to make ends meet in obscurity. And helping to elevate younger artists in his bands. These are just as important contribution to music as selling out Madison square garden and playing the same songs over and over for 50 years.
At 75 you still got it Robert, loved it. This song is extremely hard to sing for people in their thirties. I'm almost 70 and this brought back so many memories❤
Robert Plant is such a gifted artist, a showman, story teller, a Lyricist, and singer, so creative i gotta say thank you filling us up with the joy of music to help us keep dreaming!
So grateful to have stumbled upon this! His voice IS still so filled with beauty- I’d recognize his tone anywhere. It is really amazing- after all these years. WHAT A GIFT…
I'm 71 & no one likes to get old.....but I often reflect on the fact that I am so lucky to have lived in this period....people had much more freedom to express themselves which is why there was so much fantastic music so many bands & variation....Led Zep....Bowie....Dylan......Stones....Beatles.....Hendrix....The list goes on & on.....But I believe that sadly it's all but finished now. I still listen to music from this period & my son loves it.....& still riding my motorbike & following the sun.
I’m 72 - I was lucky to have seen Led Zeppelin, Fleetwood, Cat Stevens, Lynard Skinard, Vanilla Fudge, Crosby Stills Nash and Young and many many others. It is sad that concerts are so expensive now kids can’t go. I grew up in a different time and it is hard to describe how it was then. There was wonder, naivety, revolution and purpose
It never really gets old as long as Robert is singing it! He moved a lot of people over the years with this song. Je started a lot of people on the musical journey to play a guitar, drums and sing. He has no idea how influential he actually is! Just a damn "Led"gen!
yea as long as Robert is singing!! I getting little tired of the crappy lies on you tube lately.....im listening as i type this.... its not good!!!....
This song contains the actual for real meaning of life and tells of the destiny of Humanity. I'm so happy he decided to sing it again, the world desperately needs its beauty now more than ever.
@@karagi101 I wrote this explanation on Reddit a few months ago, I figured I'd just copy and paste it. It's pretty long to say the least lol. Alright, keep an open mind to what I will describe. The fundamental truths of this reality are often too amazing for many people to accept as real. Extrapolate what you know and feel to be true, leave the rest behind. "With a word she can get what she came for." is referring to the fact that we as humans can manifest things. Our thoughts, words, and actions have immense impact on reality itself, and we can speak and think into existence. This is because our souls are reality experiencing itself, and we have infinitely creative abilities. "There's this feeling I get when I look to the west, and my spirit is crying for leaving." This is referring to the Pleiades star cluster in the Taurus constellation which is to the west in the night sky. There is life litterally everywhere, in ways we can't fully comprehend in this limited 3rd dimension. The Pleiades contains sentient life in the higher dimensions, these entities exist beyond our physical reality. These beings can seamlessly incarnate into a Human life. Mostly to spread love and beauty, guide Humanity towards our collective destiny and next evolutionary step, and to simply experience life as a Human with the laws of duality. There are millions of these souls living as Humans currently, and Robert Plant is one of them. With "There's this feeling I get when I look to the west, and my spirit is crying for leaving" he is saying that his soul misses it's true home. The Pleiadians have very closely guided Humanity for our entire existence, and are even the very reason for our existence. It's no coincidence that we've advanced so much in such a short period of time. "And it's whispered that soon, if we all call the tune, then the Piper will lead us to reason. And a new day will dawn, for those who stand long, and the forests will echo with laughter." This refers to the Pleiadians slowly guiding us to our next evolutionary step, where we will ascend from the 3rd / 4th dimensions and exist in the 5th dimension and higher. If we can understand that love is the only way, and that love is the highest energy available to us, we will leave this negative reality behind and exist with our creators. The forests in our 5th dimensional world will be echoing with laughter, and negativity will cease to exist. "There are two paths you can go by, but in the long run, there's still time to change the road you're on". This means that in life we have two distinct choices. We can either be guided by negativity and selfishness, or we can be guided by positivity and love. Every individual will always have the choice to better themselves. "The piper's calling you to join him" means that Humanity as a whole is rapidly accelerating in vibrational frequency and every living organism knows and feels it atleast subconsciously. There is something very unique about us and that becomes more prevalent every day. Something *big* is coming, everyone and everything knows it. "You're stairway lies on the whispering wind" means that the answers we seek are always within us and in the places we least expect. We must be receptive to them. "Our shadows taller than our soul" means that the ego overshadows the light and beauty of our eternal souls. We forget the eternal nature of our souls to get the most of Human life to learn our individual lessons. "If you listen very hard, the tune will come to you at last. When all are one and one is all yeah, to be a rock and not to roll". The truths of this reality will be revealed to those truly receptive to it. All consciousness and life is ultimately one, life is reality experiencing itself. God exists through life itself, so we are all ultimately one with everything beyond our ego. We must have integrity in knowing that love is the only way, and that our souls are eternal expressions of God. Again, extrapolate what you know and feel to be true. The truth reveals itself to all receptive to it. Love is the only way :3
Wonderful. Thank you for posting. Gives us all a lift. One of the greatest vocalists of all time and still knocking it out. Made my day to watch Mr Plant and his band do this.
There is no hiding in this song. He is phenomenal. I am sincerely impressed with his voice's tone and strength. So glad to have found this!!!❤❤❤I'm 68, and am fighting illness, and this gives me hope.
@@crystalbelle2349 Absolutely my friend! I believe that agreeing in prayer with others is the key! Its what our Lord taught: “Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.”
Well here’s something I’d never thought I’d see. The body has gotten older, but the young man peeks through his eyes every once in a while. Thank you for the upload!
I know his heart ached to not feel the intense chemistry he and the real band members had, not to mention the years that has placed upon his capabilities, but the fact that he gave in and offered one last sentiment to honor his band of brothers is more the welcoming, ROCK ON MR. PLANT 🤘😎
When Robert Passes away ............ I'm gonna cry... Not gonna lie A Few greats have passed, I got emotional over some over others i shed a tear some still haven't passed (not that i'm keen that they do) BUT TO ME (and i imagine to many others) Led Zep but specfically Robert and Jimmy have a special place in my heart. Not only as Led Zep But some years back , a few decades now. As a result of being friends with a barmaid at a local club that i went to after work for a drink (but didn't realize who she was) After many years of knowing here (and to cut a long story short), She told me she robert was her cousin . to cut another long short, I was invited to come to roberts house (I won't say where) let's say SYDNEY (Because he has a few around the world). The original plan was that i was just to show up with her and "Meet" Robert at the front door and all that. that happened and then.. Robert invited me in, they were having a Xmas Family BBQ. I felt overwhelmed and didn't want to impose, he insisted, and i came in, ended up spending like 4 hours there, Later jimmy came, that was a suprise, but awesome Bonzo had passed by that time John Paul Jones wasn't there. Anyway... ROBERT IS JUST A REALLY BLOODY NICE GUY AND GOOD HUMAN BEING. Very Hospitable, Nice Person, doesn't mind a chat and is a wealth of knowledge. FOR ME PERSONALLY, I'll keep that for the remainder of my life . it's sad to see him like this, But hey... Time.. and all that (I guess i feel this way Because my dad recently passed and i'm attending my friends mum's funeral tomorrow) makes you think though, You know (LOL......... AND IT MAKES ME WONDER) Funny that, .. Growing up, Before i knew Robert, i derived so many life lessons from the songs and largely made sense of life because of the music. in a way i feel like i was raised by Led Zeppelin (i think most of us would agree) But yeah.. When Robert and Jimmy pass, I'm going to be very upset. and if at all possible, i'll be at the funeral . It's not a day i'm looking forward to I can say that about a few bands but for me... Led Zeppelin is the closest to my heart well... Led Zep ACDC Metallica Bon Jovi But , We already lost Bon, Malcolm passed, God rest him, We tragically Lost Cliff. Richie and Alek John Such have not passed but are missed However... I've never met any of them so for me, Robert and Jimmy are the closest it's gonna suck for me it's gonna impact the world like nothing ever before and finally, You said Imagine his memories of being in the greatest rock band ever He did say , it's hard work, But he thoroughly enjoyed it , it was an experience and he wouldn't change it for anything. He and Jimmy personally enjoy (and you can remember this and keep this with you if you like) They enjoy and take a pleasure in - Knowing how they started and how their music started - Then .. Seeing people derive pleasure from it in all sorts of different ways - and finally .. Seeing their songs evolve over time and being performed by different artists Robert spoke to me about Music and how it evolves and as he put it "Live and breaths" He has a fascination with creating something ... then LETTING IS OFF THE LEASH AND SEEING WHAT IT CAN BECOME. that's kind of his thing when robert passes, HE WILL HAVE LIVED A GOOD LIFE HE WILL BE HAPPY THAT WE STILL HAVE HIS MUSIC AND CONTINUE TO ENJOY IT but life sux like that doesn't it We get these legends for a period of time.......... and then.. they have to leave us . if i could say one more thing to robert before he died, I would say THANK YOU (i mean, i already did, but it'd be cool again) although i doubt it. Anyway, there's my rant Definitely a cool video
@@martinkuliza Jeff Beck....that hurt. Perfect health, active, slender, great diet, then meningitis infection suddenly and gone. I met him once, saw him live a bunch...no equal, not even Page or Hendrix or STR or Tony or Eddie...and not even Brian May. Beyond sad.
This is one of THE BEST ROCK songs ever written. I got goose bumps listening to him sing it again. I even got a few tears remembering all the memories of listening to this song. I am 70 and I still listen to the 60's thru 80's music. We had the best music back in that era. His is still amazing. I can still see him standing on stage with Led Zeppelin singing this song, he still sounds great. There is only one Robert Plant, thank you for all the music you have given to us to listen to and enjoy and cherish forever you are a legend.
I just turned 48 my parents are hippies and I grew up listening to everything that they loved and zeppelin was no exception this song is timeless I'll never be tired of hearing it along with Sabbath Stones Beatles and many others 60s through the early 90s will always be the best rock performers of all time for me ✌😉🎸🥁🎙🎶
Ain't it ⁉️ we had the very best bands. I actually missed most of it, my generation was fighting a dictator, but I relived LZ during the insane COVID lockdowns and made up for lost time ‼️
Such a treat, thank you Robert Plant. As a guitar player, I can tell you that nothing jacks a guitar player like the lead-in to the solo of Stairway to Heaven. It’s magical.
I'm blessed with the memory of watching Led Zeppelin in 1977. Best concert of my life. They played for over 6 hours. Truly Unforgettable. Robert you still got it, very much. Kudos to Duran Duran. Thx
I got to see them play for 12! They did their normal set of 3 hours (give or take) four times, except they changed up the set list each time, just to keep it fresh...
I was fortunate to see them in 1973. Tampa Stadium. They performed till almost midnight. Stadium held 55,000 max and i believe they tallied 63,000. Unforgettable experience.
The Master at work. Thank you Robert for this amazing rendition of a beautiful song. The Warrior knows how to perform and still sounds better than 99% of the singers out there. God bless and protect this precious Man. The soundtrack of our lives were written in the 60s & 70s.
I'm so astounded, Robert sound incredible....love, love, love this. Y'all are such an inspiration. You're magnificent as always. I grew up with this music and still listen everyday!
This made me cry 😭 This was the first song my older brother learned to play by ear on my late grandfathers guitar and it was my mothers favorite song to hear. My Mother passed away in April of 2021 and the song they played as we followed her body out was Stairway To Heaven. This song will Forever be my FAVORITE!!! ❤️❤️❤️ My Mother was The Most Selfless, Kind, Careing, Compassionate, Loving, Giving, and I could go on and on. My Mother sacrificed so much of herself and never asked for anything. I never heard her complain even though after my parents divorced she raised 4 children and worked 2 jobs to try to give us what we needed.
In tears. This is the main song that helped me through my darkest days and if today I'm still alive, I thank Robert and his fellow music gods. To be a rock and not to roll.
Mate. A Long time ago a few decades back. I had the pleasure of accidentally meeting a family member of Roberts, Robert is her cousin. I got to meet robert, I got to meet Jimmy , at their house at a Family Xmas party. the point is... I had a long and good chat with robert. Robert loves people like you (and Me) but i'm telling you this SO YOU KNOW IN YOUR HEART.... Robert can't see everyone, But he wishes he could . I also went through what you described, I believe i was raised on Led Zep, Led Zep got me through a lot of dark times as well. For me it was "Everything that's small has to grow" , I derived a lot of life lessons from this and learned how to live based on these 5 words (Most noteably) but of course there were others, "Nobody's Fault but Mine" would be another and so on.. You thank Robert ? well, i know for a fact that Robert appreciates us all and how we interpret and use his Music (The Bands Music) i know this because i spilled my heart out to him as well, I thanked him for what he gave us, for how it affected us and helped us growing up he's always happy to hear that , Same as Jimmy when i met robert and Jimmy, Bonzo was not alive and John Paul wasn't at the party so i never met him but mate.. Know for certain, Robert already appreciates HOW WE ALL FEEL ABOUT HIM AND THE MUSIC he just can't get around to telling us all. but he does appreciate it I JUST FELT LIKE YOU MIGHT WANT TO KNOW THAT. Instead of feeling like you wished that you could tell him because you feel he doesn't know how YOU FEEL................. He does mate. i thought the same way....... but he does Anyway.. there you go !
This is so special and heartfelt, fantastic. This song is timeless and will endure. One of the best song's by Led Zeppelin. It's word's are profound and a great message to take to heart.Jimmy Page knocks it out of the park with his guitar. ❤❤❤❤
I heard him sing this in Atlanta in the 70s. Sexiest man to ever grace a stage with a voice that would melt your bones! Loved him then and love him today! ❤❤❤❤
