+ Leka Mrkela I never saw Meazza or Piola and old clips don't do them justice and from what I have read Meazza was THE Baggio of his era. Baggio followed the tradition of superstar forwards produced each generation on the WORLD stage. from Meazza to Riva to Rossi to Altobelli. Totti and Vieri wrap up the tradition and since then Italy has not produced a forward on the WORLD stage as it was their tradition. Club level most they achieved, if that much. It was so poor they had to gamble on an unstable and super overrated Balotelli, and since him have not ushered out WORLD stage level forwards since Totti and Vieri. But Baggio was in a class of his own.
But my boy Totti was a complete mid like Gerrard, Scholes, Lampard... Baggio was better offensively, but I would take Totti over him anyway. Tho i am biased AF because Roma is my club! lol Wish I could of seen Baggio played... and even younger Totti and Del Piero (saw them on just over their prime and tail end of their career)... Fuck I miss Totti and De Rossi!
@@codyferrell1896 Totti is great footballer, but Bruno Conti is more better then Totti and Robby Baggio is more greatest then Francesco, which I like!!!
@@codyferrell1896 as a Totti fan he is the most talented human on the pitch but to be honest with all the obstacles they've faced Baggio is on top by miles , Baggio wasn't just playing he was telling a story everytime he was on the pitch ,Totti for roma i can tell he is the best in the world but not for the national team
what a good game used to express the '' clockwork orange'' ..i admired Holland in his heydays. So many good players came to our outmost delight in serie A and in all Europe . Van Basten, Gullit, Stam, Rijkaard, and so many more. Please Holland , make my days again. Please give the world those eye-candies plays and tactics. I miss it so much!! With outmost respect from italy
@@IAmHereForeve lugia Riva one of the best striker of Italy was highest paid Rs 2 cr.the then in 60's end. The newspaper reported. And now obviously R.B. Thanks
I'm Brazilian I watched the 94 cup as a young man, anyone who defines this man by that 94 cup is clueless, Baggio is magic, he is right up there with Maradona, Pele, etc etc to me, this guy I remember in 94 every time he got the ball I literally FEARED him lol what a fantastic player, guy is a walking masterclass of scoring
he was fabtastic even in 1994, he brought Italy to the final, he played but was injured... his only error was that penalty. the only high penalty in his whole carreer :)
I agree with you. I remember crying during the 94 final. Baggio was my idol and I was only 9. It will always be a pleasure for us Italians to play against you guys, regardless of the end result. Brazil represents the joy of playing and you had amongst the best players in the history of soccer. Garrincha was my favorite player and I wish I were alive to see him play in the 60s.
I agree with you and was only sixty per cent that year too because of to much pain in is knee and every one didn't understand what is going through to curry on and playing so magic bravooooooo if was Brazilian will be having a lot of golden balls for sure italian paparazzi make misery of him .for me the same level than anybody great. If didn't never suffer injury fur sure will win more golden balls!
Mi.
when he was at his prime, he had pace like ricky kaka, brain like totti & pirlo, and goal scoring ability like a pure striker. he is the best italian footballer ever.
He never was in his prime He managed to play great but had endless legs problems muscles in his legs would inflate so he had to train legs all the times and the pain from knees never left him This guy is after Maradona the best ever I don’t know what he would have done with healthy legs
You forgot, he was a master in free kicks in any position (including from the side and on corner kick), and in any number of touches. Shooting missiles, curved balls, lobs...
I'm agree with luciano baggio opinion, Roberto Baggio is Italian Maradona! I'll remember received a mail letter from Roberto Baggio few years ago during his time in Inter Milan. You can see the story of the letter in video "LETTER FROM ROBERTO BAGGIO!" on my RU-vid channel. Hope someday I can meet him :)
Maradona dreamed of playing with him or Antognoni. The interview is somewhere on the internet. Baggio had an outstanding control of the ball, intuition, innovation, precision, speed, perfect pass, left/right natural... In other words: complete. PS The young generations have no idea how incredibly hard was to play with old footballs. Today is way too easy to make curves. Nothing like that before.
For me, the best out and out striker ever!!! His dancing around players while being so calm, and calculated, was just so enjoyable to watch, he reminded me of a Pinball Machine, him being the ball, and he would bounce off all the obstructions or dance around them, just purely magical.
I have to say this is a brilliant collection of brilliant goals from a brilliant player. Baggio was an utter bastard for goalkeepers to handle. One of the best ever. Such fantastic ball control, foresight and power. Fantastic!
And in 1994 I was 10 and after he missed the penalty in the final I felt sorry for Italy and started supporting them as if they were my national team. This year was great. Forza Italia!
A profound awareness of the defenders around him. A sublime first touch to exploit every inch of space. A change of direction to wrong foot every opponent. Infinite composure in front of goal. Lethal finishing. My word.....,.. ❤
The best footballer I've seen in my time. He was pure poetry on the field. And despite his injuries he was a delight to watch. His attacking football was just brilliant and at that time Italy had the best defenders in the world. 90s Italian football was class. Baggio tho was something special my all time favourite player
It's not that he simply scored, it's that he did it in an incredible way every time. When the ball hit his feet, you never knew what he was going to come up with. It was a joy and a surprise to see
Among more than 200 goals of this man, except for ones came from the penalty spot (in which he is also a worldclass master), all are watch-worthy. In most of them, he dribbled past at least one player then score. And in all the times he faced the goal keeper, he always tricked them through before scoring. Such a legend!
💣BAGGIO💥
Just glad that all that was captured on camera back in the day, thanx for upload, don't forget he had 220 internal stitches to re-attach the ligaments in his right knee in 1985, doctors told him he'll never play again, and look at him after, my favorite football player of all time!
I firmly believe you can't teach skills like that. The flair and finess with which he went about on a pitch is pure poetry in motion!!! My favourite player of all time THE DIVINE PONYTAIL 4 EVER!!! They dont make players like him anymore🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
i am always telling them, if not him, they would have never got to that final at all! he did it almost alone, through the whole mundial.and BTW he was not the only one to miss that penalty in his team/
What is this stupid comment “genius scientist” He invented the game,??? Rubbish word utter by an unknown commentator, and now followed by million of clueless fan. Rubbish
Baggio will be always my favourite best player ever! I think the control touch against Juve was the best control touch I ever have seen!! What a player he was! What a class! Genius
Roberto Baggio was a goal scoring machine..one of the best players o do it..also the way he went around the keepers is similar to R9. Definately should have had more awards and recognition..children nowadays don’t know what they have missed out on..
People who didn't see Roby play don't realize how magnificent he was. What a quick thinker he was and his crazy level of decision making. Plus his passion and dedication, especially to the national squad. Trapatoni not calling him up for the 2002 world cup was absolute BS. And Italy did absolutely horrible in that WC. The guy played with one knee his entire career. Baggio encompasses love for football.
Italy did not play horrible world cup but was robbed from the victory against the Koreans by Byron Moreno - one of the biggest disgraces in the history of footbal.
What a player. Who every time exactly knows where is the gap and where is gonna score a goal. His placement is very precise unlike most of the strikers.I have never seen a striker of his capability and vision. For me the best footballer Italy has ever produced and right up there will all the best in the world.
It's interesting to note that Baggio was frequently undervalued, but it's worth acknowledging that he was a remarkable player. His talent on the field was truly remarkable.
@ozgur284 he was not underrated, he suffered from injures and he played all the career with only one knee. He had problems with quite all his coaches, apart Mazzone at Brescia, because of his injures and because most of coaches wanted him to play as a second striker, not as pure number ten. He played in a period when number ten was changed. Only Carlo Ancelotti had the honestly to admit that he was a mistake to refuse to buy when he was the coach of Parma club. When Baggio played in Milan with Capello, he was not in good condition and Capello often refuse to make him play. Yes, he was unlucky, in 1990 and 1994 World Championship, he could have won with Italy. If he didn't suffered all those injures, he could have became one of the first 5 players of all time.
Brazil always deserved against us Italians. If we ever won we had overcome the best. Brazil still stands as the '' Mecca'' or the '' Opera'' of soccer. And is a blessing to have the chance to beat them. Parabens Amigos brasileiros.
My favourite player of all time. Saw his World Cup 1990 goal and said I support the team he plays for. He just went to juventus. So have been supporting Juventus ever since.
Its crazy all the managers hated him and he was benched for Italy so many times. Achieving what he did despite that AND despite his multiple knee injuries is incredible. Magical player
He was only benched at the latter end of his career, don't forget he ran the show at international level like maradona did at his peak for moments in 94
@@jimmyfoot832 The fact he had under 60 caps (should have been 100+), many of which were off the bench, tells us that he was terribly underused at International level. Yes, he was magnificent when he did play, gelling the attack, providing the team with some imagination, and stepping up, always making the difference. What's ironic is that he was in much better physical shape in 1990 and 1998. In 94, he was already carry injuries heading into the competition, and then picked up another against Bulgaria. Factor in the harsh conditions and it was a miracle what he produced in the US. He wasn't first choice for Italy despite being phenomenal for Fiorentina. He was dropped for the semi-final against Argentina in 1990, something which destroyed the momentum of the team (Baggio, Schillaci and Giannini had formed a terrific trifecta in attack). In 1998 he played second fiddle to a very out-of-form Del Piero. Despite this he had a fine tournament, and had he started against France who knows what may have happened? He wasn't called up in 2002, when he'd made a record recovery from injury to put himself in contention and had been in great form for Brescia - Arsene Wenger even stated that Baggio was the best player in Serie A at the time, at the age of 35. And how can we forget that he wasn't called up for Euro 1996 and 2000.
That's why I have always loved Baggio, some of them goals were superb, any player who takes it round the keeper as part of their repertoire is top class. Baggio comes in the next layer of greats behind Messi and maradona. To be even up there after injurys is amazing. So Baggio, Zidane, Ronaldo (Brasil), Romario, Rivaldo, Ronaldhino, Zico, that's some of my next tier. Overall my heart is with Baggio because of what he went through and was claimed in the 90s to be the best around. 👍🏾🙏🏾
absolute brilliance! the way he controlled the ball, speed & dribble, the ultra wide range of finishing shots... i dare to say even messi has no such richness in play
Roberto is great italian player, never forget photo with number 10 on his shirt, skillful craftsman. The main problem was not his injuries, the main problem was that he did not find "his" coach. So did Messi, who had "his" coach, Guardiola. Many goals were given to him due to his skill, sense of the ball and vision of the field. And of course such a desperate desire to play football, not many men are able to go out into the street just after a cruciate ligament rupture injury after 77 days, he has already played and scored in Serie A. This speaks of the character of a person. For this he is greatly respected. Thank you Roberto for the matches that I watched as a child)))
Pure genius! Baggio scored goals out of this world. The guy could dribble, shoot free kicks, curle the ball, volley shots and so on. Skills that not many players can master. Players of Baggio's caliber do not grow on trees. It was a joy to watch this guy play soccer.
Baggio is a legend of the wonderful game. He could do it all with simplicity and brilliance! He was at the level of Best, Maradona, Cryuff and even Pele!
Majorly criticized and underrated. ROBERTO BAGGIO IS THE BEST ITALIAN PLAYER OF ALL TIME. Easily top 5 footballer who has ever played the game. ROBERTO BAGGIO=FOOTBALL=LEGEND.. ( Look at 7:04 min)
Criticized baggio let's see messi and RONALDO have 6 operations on a knee ....but that's what GOD DEALT HIM AND MAYBE GODS WAY IN SAYING DONT GIVE UP ......BAGGIO CARRIED TEAM ITALY 🇮🇹 1990 ...1994 WORLD CUPS PLUS EUROS HES JUST VERY VERY STRONG MINDED
Roberto Baggio's goals are legendary! His technique and finesse on the field have always been awe-inspiring. It's incredible to think about the skill and precision required to score those memorable goals. Baggio's contribution to football is unforgettable, and his goals will always be a highlight in the history of the sport. The way he played with such passion and artistry really brought something special to the game. 🌟⚽🎉
