I'm a cabinetmaker with 45 years of experience under my belt and I have the greatest of respect for both Robin and Peter, both masters of their crafts and both great communicators, so it was great to see this short but interesting video and it's 'partner 'video over on Peters channel. Keep up the good work gents and thank you both for the content you provide.
Great to see Robin meet Peter. Two great channels on utube. I met a young apprentice lately looking to learn, I told him watch both ye and tall carpenter.told him look at your attention to detail and accurately measurements. And learn from mistakes. 👍🇮🇪
I clicked the thumbs up before the advert had finished at the beginning 🤣 please more of the two of you 👍🏻👍🏻 also I love to hear more about how you organise yourself for jobs, and I just wanted to say I'm 56 and still learning from you guys!
@@ukconstruction Thanks Robin, I'm just about to go into an interview in twenty minutes to change career into the industry of garden rooms. Your channel has been my interview prep! Keep up the great work.
@@ukconstruction Got the job! Will be selling some lovely pavilions and garden rooms in a month's time. excited for it. If you are ever passing Chessington garden centre make sure to drop in and get a hand shake! (Ask for Matt)
10 Minute Workshop gave the ideas, skills and confidence to make my laundry cabinets. Housing a freezer, washing machine, tumble dryer, baskets for the ironing and various other nooks.
Great video. Loved the last answer. I really enjoy the videos where someone makes a mistake and instead of just going back and filming it again like it never happened they talk through the error and how to correct it. 👍
The best thing for me as an amateur wood butcher, with channels like yours, Peter Millard's and others, you all give me the inspiration to drive up standards allowing me to learn better and safer ways to make stuff.
Two of my faves.... I've always enjoyed making things with wood in my spare time. I would just like to add to Peter's comment about "having a go", I am currently changing career as an apprentice electrician (at 52yrs old) and a quote on the wall at college from Thomas Edison; "I haven't failed, I've just found a thousand ways that don't work" which reflects my outlook on trying things, failing things and learning things. Also just like to add, you don't need all the expensive gear, I make quite a lot of big storage units and do not own what is quite possibly the most expensive domino jointer on the market 🤣🤣
Two great channels ! You're very complementary. Both very informative and enjoyable to watch. Have spent many hours watching you both & always learning new things. Many thanks for all your hard work & best wishes for continued success in the future
Great video Robin, and some good advice from Peter, also some great advice from you on Peter's video, good to see you guys on the same track, take care out there, and stay lucky , cheers
I would like to thank Peter for giving me the confidence to fit some cupboards in the alcoves of my wobbly shaped old terraced house after being told I would have to wait over a year for a chippy.
Great interview robin, all the best to both you. Both of you have given u tube so much valuable information on woodworking and joinery, and keep the good work.
Thanks soooo much Robin for making these superb videos with so much learning and passion. Great interview. Hope your week was a great one and the weekend has the sun shining high!
What’s better than settling down to watch one of your favourite woodworking RU-vidrs……… Watching TWO of your favourite woodworking RU-vidrs ! Can we get RC, Peter Millard, Keith Brown and the Tall Carpenter out to New Zealand to help Scott Brown finish his renovation ?
Peter, there's several of UK watch RU-vidrs who I am sure would talk to you about a collab on the specs for a watch box. Adrian Barker, Britt Pearce or the Watchfinder folk would be my first thoughts. And I remember seeing your SKX in an old video and thinking nice (as I've got one too)
As I have put on Peter’s channel, two masters of their craft. Cheers gents FYI: can’t wait to see Domino comments, what $1000 tool! I agree BTW, I have domino because of Peter’s channel, it is amazing
Hello. It was fun watching the two interviews. I am new to your channel coming over from Peter Millard. For some reason though… I’m not able to click on your channel to watch other videos. So I went and did a search. And when I click your videos it’s not letting me watch anything. Strange. I’ve never had that issue before. I subscribed to see if I could find you if I was subscribed and it changed nothing. Hope to figure it out and see some of your content.
Watched both videos the back and forth between you both was great and 2 totally different ends of the spectrum the one comment that stood out to me was robin on peters video about helping out at the college level /apprenticeship level I think personally at this moment they need a lot of help I think the citb is struggling to be totally honest I don’t know why exactly wether it’s down to some apprentices just expecting to turn up and make a living/get by lecturers responding to this with a why bother attitude or employers just using it for the grants sorry for the long winded comment but I think there needs to be a change in the system
Hi Robin, I love what you are building. But unfortunately, because you mostly separate what you talk about and what you are building I don't get it. I love how Oakwood Garden Rooms talks and shows what they are making. You would make it so much easier for me to learn from you if you show and talk about what and why you are making it. You have done so a few times, but a lot of times you talk about details in a theoretical sense and then I lose you. Perhaps it is the terminology you use if which I don't have the background of. (I haven't gone to carpentry school). So I hope you would incorporate the 'Oakwood Garden Rooms' teaching format. Imaging what you talk about without doing it is sometimes very difficult and you are so highly regarded and a kind willing teacher. It is just an idea and I hope you will take it into consideration 🙂
