I don't know how in the world you did this, but it's remarkable. I admire many composers, but for thirty years I've considered this cue to be my undisputed favorite "hero theme" in cinema history. It feels like a theme from out of time, influenced by the swashbuckling golden era of Hollywood that predated it by decades. The only thing sadder than knowing Kamen was an underappreciated genius who was taken from us far too soon is knowing that there are few (if any) people who score films like this anymore to replace him. 💘
David, this was fantastic! I haven't watched the movie, but this music evokes great childhood memories of Disney's DVD commercials. I feel honored to grow up with this music :) Sweet memories, I want to shed a tear😭
Love Michael Kamen. His scores just have such a distinct style. Also love the horn opening of the 6th, 5th and 3rd! Classic use of counterpoint for Horn melodies. Maybe do some more of Kamen's works? :D
The Dead Zone is also a fantastic score. He also did Highlander. I know he worked with Queen, but not sure if he composed "Who Wants to live Forever." ??
Amazing! So glad you did this score. I hope that soon people will begin talking about Kamen's work with the reverence they (justifiably!) talk about Jerry Goldsmith's work with.
Request; if it pleases your lord... A score breakdown of the "Vincent Gray" track from The Sixth Sense. I would forever pledge faith and allegiance to his honorable Lord David McCaulley for his dutiful service!
Encourage everyone interested in Michael Kamen's music to seek out his OST to "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen"...only wish they released complete score
Thank you for your dedicated and extremely valuable work. At the very beginning, do you think the double basses might be doing F - Bb instead of two Bb?
It's very possible since the score I was working with was hard to read. I actually went back and forth on this for a long time, because I thought maybe I heard an F -Bb, though the score looked like a Bb - Bb. Good observation!
This movie is great, and the haters are wrong. No, Kevin Costner doesn't sound "English" - but since nobody in the movie is speaking Ye Olde Englishee from ye tyme uf ye Crewsaydees, that doesn't matter. Alan Rickman's accent is equally "wrong."
