I knew it was a comedy show. I laughed my ass off everyday for years back in the day. Years later, I guess a little older and grown up, I realized what a scum bag Howard was for all those years. A comedy show... lol, what a joke, it was the excuse always used. For comedy..... he took advantage of and made fun of people less fortunate, homeless people, mentally challenged people, gay people.... he totally degraded women, but hey.... it was for comedy so it was okay LOL>
She was upset about how Howard attacked the Mexican community and mocked Selena's passing and her music, playing gunshot sounds in the background of her music, mocking Mexican music etc Linda stood for something Robin defended an asshole that at the end had to apologize
linda ronstadt also played apartheid south Africa (sun city) in 1983...this was a insult to every African in the diaspora, as a Black American if i wanted to go see linda perform at the sun city resort in south africa I couldn't get in...She also violated a UN sanctioned Boycott along with 388 other american celebrities...Look up the song "I ain't gonna play Sun city"

Linda is on the Tonite Show couch saying "as a mexican american" with no meaningfull Spanish vocabulary and was even worse off in 1986 recording her 1st spanish album. Add to that the fact that that when Linda was on her world or North American tours in the 70's and early 80's, Mexico apparently was not part of North America and both Mexico and latin america apparently not part of the world. Thats right, all excluded from tours.No wonder the image of Lindas album shown on a big screen in Mexico City was pelted by tomatoes.

Back then it was always people who didn't actually listen to the show who had the biggest problems, and they would just take stuff out of context and attack the show. Of course they do the same with podcasts now, and they've always done it with stand-up comedians.

Robin immediately went on the defense claiming Linda did not understand the show or what they were saying, claiming things are taken out of context, if you don't like don't listen to it. She wouldn't even listen to what Linda had to say, dismissing it as drivel. She exposed herself as a typical jerk like we have today all over the media. The audience was not much better either...And Leno had very little control and did not allow Linda time to elaborate on why she said what she said. Leno = coward. Carson never would have let this happen, he would have took control and let Linda speak her mind. We have become a 3rd class nation shouting the other person down, no manners, refusing to listen to others, and lack of intelligent debate, finger pointing and blame deflecting through the use of childish behavior, personal threats and regressive, mob rule thinking. Thanks to the internet and the effort of the corporate media to keep the public as stupid and rude as possible in every way as if this is normal. Ronstadt had every right to call out Howard Stern and his minions for their remarks and behavior on that show for reasons she was not allowed to express in detail thanks to Leno's cowardice. If Robin couldn't allow Linda to do so either, then she had something serious to hide. All Robin did was run her mouth over Linda's attempt to explain. The moron audience ate it up too...Stern ultimately had to apologize for remarks he made attacking the Hispanic community...and using typical bad taste. This is not humor, it is rude behavior toward others for persona; fame and profit. No wonder the whole country is mentally ill.
Howard needs a laugh track, really needs it to be a woman to be successful. She’s an excellent laugh track. She doesn’t have to defend him, she wants to and is paid good money to do so.
I remember this TV Funhouse cartoon on SNL where Howard would feed Robin a fish every time she laughed at one of his jokes, like she was a trained seal. Not surprised Robin had that reaction. The truth is, weather it’s a act or not, the Howard Stern Show contributes to minimizing things like racism. Period.
What's funny is that Howard Stern NEVER changed his style.....Even during the ''woke 2010s''...................he was STILL the same guy but just found a way to change his tone in order to SUSTAIN the same one.......
Sadly, what led up to their argument is not, in fact, shown in this clip. The fact is that just 3 days after 23-yr-old groundbreaking Mexican-American idol and breakthrough singer **Selena** was shot and killed, Stern and Givers covered it on his show in the most ignorant, bigoted, soulless, and cruel way. And in this interview here, Givers unequivocally defended Stern, who, in the course of a 9-minute radio rant about the singer and "Spanish" music in general, had gone so far as to play Selena's songs **with gunshot sound effects** in the background. A disorderly conduct arrest warrant was even issued for Stern (though he was never charged). As a proud Mexican-American herself, Linda Ronstadt was rightly offended, and I applaud her bravery to go against the tide of the pro-Stern audience.
I’ve listened to that segment multiple times and I was completely appalled….. On how hysterically funny it is, when I’m sad I’ll put and It on and just laugh,laugh,laugh you know why? Because it’s funny. You know what else is funny is no one payed much attention to Selena until she was murdered, and the fact that people were so outraged about this radio show bit! Well they played right into Sterns hands because he knows what I guess no one has figured out that people who hate something or someone they tend to focus more attention on them or it than they would normally. More than 30 years later people still are talking about him and paying attention to his show. Which also give Selena more attention. From what I know Linda is a quarter Mexican on her father’s side,she looks as much Hispanic as Jay Leno does. To call herself a Mexican American is a bit of a stretch.
Thank you Linda for standing up for basic human decensy. Stern and his ilk coursened American culture with their racist and misogynist rants. His level of meaness and inhumanity is well documented. And u had the guts not to sit there mute when one of his no talent minions who is paid to giggle at his stuff was face to face with you. Robin lost the argument because she got mad because Linda had an opinion different from hers which usually makes liberals go nuts and again like a liberal tried to shut Linda up. Interestingly, that Linda herself is also a liberal, but handled herself beautifully.

Where does Ronstadt come off? Ms. Quivers is promoting her book. Linda was well aware of her disease at this point, and very bitter that her voice was suffering. But for one entertainer to attack another entertainer is out of line for a Tonight Show appearance.
Untrue that Rondtadt knew of her Parkinson’s at that time and there was no deterioration of her vocals yet. She was still recording in 2006. Her Parkinson’s wasn’t diagnosed until 2013.
Selena Quintanilla was a great Mexican hispanic singer who was murdered by her manager. This is what Linda was protesting about Stern & Quivers making fun of.
