I am today. hadn't thought about him for about a year I think, and suddenly today while on the train, on the way back home from work, with the corner of my eye I saw a big poster outside of a shopping mall of a man selling something. That man in the picture looked like Robin Williams. I saw that image for less than half a second through the window of the train as we drove by, but that was enough to instantly snap me back to the days he was around. I spent the rest of the trip thinking about him and how sharp, witty, spontaneous and funny he was. I got home, turned on my PC and looked for him in RU-vid. I found this clip (which I have seen many times before) but I laughed just as hard as the first time. then I scrolled down and saw your question Karen, so here is my answer.
RIP Sir Michael Parkinson (March 28, 1935 - August 16, 2023), aged 88 And RIP Robin Williams (July 21, 1951 - August 11, 2014), aged 63 You both will be remembered as legends.
There's nobody else like him. He could make me both cry, and laugh my ass off. He was such a kind and caring man. He was a comedy genius without equal. I grew up watching his movies, stand ups, talk show interviews, etc.. He was like part of my family. Gosh I miss him so much.
If Robin Williams could have been kept alive by the love and respect we all had for him, then he would have lived forever. Truly a one of a kind genius.
For god's sake, would people stop saying RIP to everyone that dies? It's the worst juxtaposition you can say. You can't RIP if you are dead. A dead person can't feel anything, they are dead. There is no peace about it, can't feel peace when you are dead. People do it all the time. And he wasn't a true comedic genius.... he was ... well, Robin. A lot of his stuff is no that funny, just zany and bizzarre but then that's the American poor sense of homour all over.
He was so talented. I remember him when I was a very young girl in Mork and Mindy. I feel so sad after all the joy he gave to us, he died so alone. At the end of the day it would seem he had nobody to say "I am here for you". Great artist, great talent and great loss.
The world is a very darker place without you Robin. Thanks for all the great stand up routines and movies. Where ever you are I truly hope you have found peace, you really deserve it. Godspeed Robin G.B.N.F. Ever
Such a fantastically intelligent sharp and witty man. I’m mesmerised as usual by the speed of his thoughts taking us on a roller coaster of joy and laughter. Hats off.
The very moment he sat down in his chair and started to talk he had the whole room laughing. I laughed during the whole interview. What a legend we have lost.
This amazing man! My world could be going sideways and Robin Williams could still have me laughing within a minute...Can't begin to add-up the number of times my family blasted me for being too loud. And talk about talent as an actor. I could go on for days. Robin will be forever missed. Rest well Robin ~Peace is yours now.
Robin Williams was a one of a kind genius no body can instate or come close to his style and sence of humor he may have went home to glory but will never be forgotten rest in peace my brother
Man he was just amazing to watch... I am thank full he can live on in the rest of us and on video. I hope future generations appreciate him just as much as we do.
What can I say that hasn't already been expressed far more eloquently than I could ever aspire to. I'm just glad to have been lucky enough to have been alive when Mr Williams was. My life just won't be the same without him. Hope he's somewhere better now. Too sad.
I hope you have found peace Robin...you will be missed always. The world has been in love with you for 30 years...the world will never be truly happy again without you. Vale
Such a talent, i grew up watching him on tv and then in his standup comedy and his films...his comic genius and how he could also do incredibly touching, serious dramatic roles...Rest in Peace Sir and thank-you for making me laugh all these years.
Every time I see clips like this, all I can think of is how much I miss his amazing innocence yet foresights! I miss you big time, Robin. God bless your children.
As far back as my memory this man goes; every time I saw him on screen, even briefly, I was either expecting to laugh, or laughing excessively indeed. RIP dear Robin Williams.
*A legend that will truly be missed* I will always remember his amazing sense of humor, he truly was one of a kind. Rest in peace Robin Williams. --I decided to share this funny video from him and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.
Tammy Jackson this is the first time I cried because I truly loved this man as an actor and comedian.. he gives people smiles and laughs... now... who else gives laughs and smiles?
Even if you don't laugh out loud at Robin Williams, its difficult to watch his stand up and not smile, this man was a very talented man and could do anything from comedy to serious a true legend and will be sadly missed,I hope where ever you are you are still making people laugh r.i.p
Robin Williams was a treasure for the whole world he was a love and kind human being! Who brought Joy wherever he went every time I see him on something now my heart breaks because we lost one of the great ones and I can't help thinking the world has lost so much joy and happiness if he knew how much he was loved. God bless you wherever you are.
I love a dry & observational kind of humour. this guy is just amazing. I grew up with Mork & Mindy - first experience of Robin Williams. I so wish I could have spent time with him - his anecdotes & stories - his humour ENRICHED people's lives. He had a gift. R. I. P., Robin Williams.
It's moments like these why he's in a league of his own no one could touch Robin Williams when it came to making people laugh I' mean who else could come up with gay penguins, the guy was and always will be a total comedy genuis. GOD is so lucky to have you up their. (R.I.P ROBIN WILLIAMS)
...".!get in the car children! GO!! THE HILLS ARE ALIVE..." Manic comedy genius at its best I've never laughed so loud on earphones walking diwn the street abd no one has any idea what I'm cracking up about and I look like I'm in hysterics. To think he was about to go into political science until his dear mom intervened thank God. He's in heaven now..watching us laugh. oh; don't forget when he joked: : " ...and with a little pecker, you have to work fast....""I arranged the pebbles the best I could..." My God.😍😍😍
Comedians like Robin Williams is a rare species. A comedian's brain leads you to a scene or a train of thoughts and suddenly it snapped off tangent, a humorous twist, quiet a genius, which borders to insanity and schizophrenia.
I will love Robin forever. Thank you for so many laughs and tears. Hope people watch his movies. For sure The Fisher King, Dead Poet's Society, Mrs. Doubtfire..so many. Just so great. I am so so sad, but dealing with it better. He already had parkensons and was very thin. He would of been a vegatable in a wheelchair. You did it your way..I think you did right.
I miss him. He was Great. But He started to have dementia at the end of his life. Poor man ! I understand him because I am suffering from a terrible disease incurable too. And if a doctor told me that my body and state of mind will change and will be over. I will probably ask to stop to live but in a different way as him. Anyway, I am fan of him and humor. Genius
I hope you are doing OK. Just going through old Robin Williams videos. I Hope someday you will read this comment because you are staying strong. God is with you and all the Love.
SUCH A PHENOMENAL COMEDIAN; WHO WOULD EVER HAVE THOUGHT THAT HE WAS IN SUCH A SAD STATE OF MIND. ROBIN YOU CONTINUE TO BRING JOY AND LAUGHTER TO ALL OF US. YOU'RE PROBABLY MAKING EVERYONE IN HEAVEN LAUGHING ALL THE TIME!
Never tire of watching this man, a genius, multi-talented soaring to great heights no wonder he was popular in variety of roles because he can bag any roles. Like he says in his own words 'it's mine'. Very intelligent man. Alexander Conquered the world, well Sir so have you. Much missed xxxx
For everyone still watching this incredible man because 5 years and it still hurts my heart, I came across a tribute video that Noah Gunderson wrote entitled Robin Williams OMG it is beautiful and haunting it will make you cry. RIP IN YOU SWEET WONDERFUL MAN.
One off a kind never met him but when he passed away I felt so sick and couldn’t believe it he was incredibly funny and a big part off everyone’s entertainment wish he could have stayed love him so much but I guess we were blessed to have him in our lives .
You were my hero from the very beginning with " Mork and Mindy". One of my first record albums being "Reality What a Concept" and it was played many a time. All of your movies, stand up routines, guest appearance, etc. showed your natural genius, talent, and intelligence. You brought soooo much happiness and laughter into soooo many lives. I was lucky to be here while you were alive, and will NEVER forget you, my hero. RIP my friend. Love you, Guy Goodman
Well Parky has now gone to live down under in Sydney, and Robin (Probably one of the best Stand up comedians) has nowsadly passed away. r.i.p. Robin, the world is a darker place without you.
He wasn't just comedic genius on the loose, he was intelligent as a person❣ How I wish he would have been able to truly understand what he meant to the world. Perhaps then he wouldn't have had such a tragic end. RIP❣
Having dinner with Robin one evening, a fund-raiser for Multiple Sclerosis Society. He was hysterical on stage and when we sat down to dinner we chatted and everything we talked about was "Far from the Madding Crowd," his modesty, serenity and absolute intelligence was electrifying. He had just completely Mork & Mindy and we hit on the subject of "what was next?" He shrugged his shoulders, tasted the soup, and the rest is history. God, he was wonderful.
A true Genius of a man whom will live in our hearts and minds forever and we will be forever grateful to have watched this man entertain us for many a decade, but was taken from us way to early.
You get to know the genius he was and the genius he remains by the natural way he turns moments of common life into a stand-up comedy. Look at how every word connects in a domino follow up hilarious and irresistible burst of laughter this much that jewels of of life come out of his heart. I knew his talent by his movies. Never knew his nature this genius as I can grasp lately through his late night shows videos I found on youtube.
It‘s crazy how good watching Robin makes me feel. I don’t think there was ever anybody in show business whom I miss so much. And reading the comment here, it seems there’s a lot of people feeling like I do.
