Hi Ian, the miter spline should stay in the guiding slot over it's full length, then the play should be within limits, if there is too much play then check the dimensions of the spline and guiding slot. Mine only has about 0,05mm play
Thank you Elias. I’m not sure why I never finished this video with the angles and width measurements. I must have got interrupted & meant to come back to it later and add the relevant details. I’ll try tomorrow to do an update here in the comments with relevant details. 👍
Base of the angled flat bar is 23.78mm. The base of the machined dovetail slot is 24.0mm Top of the flat beveled rod is 19.5mm Top of the machined dovetail slot is 20.14mm Depth of dovetail slot is 5.39mm Thickness of the beveled flat bar is 5.09mm Angles of the ground dovetail is 60.5 from top or 29.5 from bottom. As you can see the clearances are perhaps a little loose on the slot. If you were having dovetailed flat bar machined you could probably increase the measurements slightly to be a whisker tighter.
