One of my new favorite technologies is a robot vacuum. They clean by themselves! It's amazing.
You have to decide if you want a smart vacuum or a dumb vacuum.
Dumb vacuums are easy as there is little setup and no app to install.
One of the biggest issues can be carpet lines and randomness. The dumb vacuum doesn't remember a floor plan so bounces around. It makes messy lines, so if you have OCD or like the clean line look, you'll want a smarter one.
Smarter vacuums also allow you to create schedules around days, times, and rooms. Rather than just all or nothing. This allows you to schedule the kitchen in the morning, but not worry about the living room that was vacuumed yesterday.
Mopping features can be great, but we haven't noticed much of a benefit with them. There isn't enough weight to actually do a great job mopping we have found.
Vacuums with rollers and beaters will obviously pick up more hair and pull more out of the carpet. I suggest this option for anyone with pets for sure.
With any vacuum, there are dust bins and bags you'll have to empty. The larger ones with base stations allow the bin to empty automatically then you just replace the bag every several months.
Smart vacuums allow you to change suction power, do not disturb times, voice controls and other options. They also can alert you when some brushes or filters are needing to be replaced or cleaned.
Noice doesn't seem to be a huge issues. I've noticed usually if it's louder it's usually stronger. That can be a win. You're turning on a vacuum and can schedule it, so usually not an issues from what I've noticed.
Vacuums can get stuck or hung up on end tables or other low profile items. Possibly rugs. This is something to keep in mind. We usually put up our kitchen table chairs and end tables just to make sure it does an even better job cleaning, but it's definitely not needed.
All in all, you have to decide what features you want, and how much you want to pay. Smart vacuums can also handle multiple floor plans so maybe keep that in mind. Please let me know your thoughts or questions you have!
