The Roborock can update its map by using the Zone Cleaning Feature, On the Roborock S6 the Area Clean Feature or Remote Control to drive the robot to the Distorted map area.
Some people's Maps are rotated 180 degrees, you should be able to use the Remote control function to drive the robot around your house floor plan and the robot should update the map. There been several updates to help with this.
The robot can update its map without having it go over the entire layout of your home which is time consuming.
Don't select Clean tab or the Robot will recreate a entirely New Map.
Now many users including myself have experienced the Roborock Map not representing what the layout of my house is.
There are a few things that can change the Roborock maps, furniture being moved around, doors being shut, other objects being in the room.
Since the LIDAR sensor sits really low to the ground anything that the LIDAR can detect will be included in the map, so it's best to create the Map in a clear house area. Unfortunately somethings we can't fix, like if the robot can't glass objects, thin objects and Black objects.
In my case I have a Glass sliding door, since the robot can't see the glass door, it makes the room larger than it is.

Yes, for the first run, I had the room to our playroom closed as I didn’t want the roborock to get into that room. Then I divided all the rooms up. No I managed to get the roborock to go into the playroom using your method. However, it doesn’t recognize it as a new room. I.e. I can make this a room. Is there anyway to fix this?

@@anjahofmann6480 So unfortunately my method only works on a fully completed map, and will change the rooms with in the map. My advice is to remap with all the doors open and ince the map done, than you can close that door and reopen or you can just select a certain area or use keep out zone too

Hi Nathan. Thanks for the great video. I'm still considering whether to get S6 or S5. Pls tell me about the multifloor mapping function which to be the major difference between those 2 models. If I decided to go for S5 (which obviously is the cheaper option), does it mean that I can't use the device to vacuum other locations? Let say, if I've saved the map for ground floor, I will not be able use the device for my second floor? Thank you in advance for your response, Nik.

Both the Roborock s5 and s6 should have multi room saving. Just select the correct layout when moving the robot to the new level. The s6 has room select where as on the s5 you manually draw the area out on the map where you want the vacuum to clean.

Hi Nathan. So glad I found your channel. I have an S50 and have changed the furniture around in our living room. I do not use any devices to control my roborock, so is there a way that I can do this manually? I would appreciate an answer to this question. Many thanks, Cal.

The Roborock S50 will create a new map every time you press the clean button on the robot. If not, you will need to pair with a smartphone and clear the robot map. You can try resetting the robot by holding down the spot and home button for 10 seconds.

Hi there, I have a split level house and only one dock. How do I save the map for the 2nd level without the robot going back to the dock automatically? I've found it won't save because it doesn't finish cleaning as it can't go back to the dock itself

You have to physically move the dock for the mapping run. Once the 2nd map created and save you don't need to move the docking station just the robot.

Sorry the s5 doesn’t support room select like on the Roborock S4 or S6. Hopefully Roborock can update the s5 to support this. The S5 will create a map, just won’t have the colors indicating the individual rooms. With the S5 you can select an area you want to clean or you can select go to and the robot will automatically drive to the selected area. From there you can choose to do a spot clean.

@@bucsadanmihai The reason why having the rooms pre created is to make it easier to select the area on the Map. Hopefully you can revert back to the other language.

Tesvor vacuum maps look very similar. New Wyze vacuum maps looks very close, that one is probably rebranded Roborock S4

Thanks for the info, yeah the robots that link up to the Mi Home App offer very similar App layout and features. A lot of the other robot vacuums that use Lidar have very similar look and feel too.

I have problem saving my 2nd floor. I guess the S6 want to start from the docking station to save floor-plans?

Yes the Robot needs to start from the dock to save and create a floor plan. So the S6 floor plan works like this, Do an entire cleaning run from the docking station and have the robot return to the docking station automatically. Make sure the Map Saving Mode enabled on your setting tab. The first map will be saved. Next Take the Robot and charger to the next floor and do the same thing. Once the robot done and has returned to the docking station the robot should have two floor plans saved. This is under the edit map and restore map. All you do is select the map the robot is currently on.

I can’t get my s4 to divide rooms. When I try to do it manually it says it will when it finishes a clean but it has finished and still hasn’t divided

So I assume you let the Roborock start from the charging base have the robot clean the entire floor without being stopped or stuck and the robot returned to the docking station on its own. Once it done go to the Mi Home App home screen this is where you see the map of your floor plan. Off to left is a little pin icon with 3 horizontal lines, this is where the map saving and editing is. Select the icon and go to edit room. You may have to manually divide the rooms.

You have to use the Mi Home App, I heard the Roborock App has some issues with the mapping and being able to merge and edit the map.

Hope this video would help me solve my problem with the S5 max, but I'm still clueless. I have maped out 90% of my house perfectly and the Roborock cleans those surprisingly well. But when I lift my S5 into the bathroom (raised door) it always positions itself completely wrong and can't seam to understand it's now located in another room. If I do not stop it at this point it will ruin the map already created, which I have divided into multiple rooms and DO NOT want to mess up. How can I help my roborock to understand I just want to add a completely new room/map, instead of it ruining the existing one? Really frustrating.

Hello so I assume there an option the map setting to have multiple maps? I assume you allowed the robot to start and end from the docking station without interruption. Once a complete is done it is saved. For your other room which the robot can’t transition from do the same process and create a separate map for that room. You should have two maps. I believe with this model you have to make sure the correct map is loaded on to the robot prior to starting the robot. Don’t know if the robot can automatically switch between saved maps which could cause the location issue.

@@RobotMasters Thanks for answering me! :-) So I have to move the dock and vacuum to the bathroom everytime I want it cleaned?! That's a bummer. Thought it might be able to pick up where is was located in relation to the dock since the dock is on the same floor even visable from the bathroom. I created a new map for the bathroom alone, but it would be so much simpler if I could just lift it over the threshold and it would continue cleaning. No way around this?

@@speedbully_84 You only have to move the dock once for the initial mapping of the two areas. Once the two maps are saved just take the robot over there and make sure the correct map is loaded. The robot will clean that mapped area and end the job where it started. The Dock can be left in one location.

Yes you can, the mi home app is an overall app that allows you to control more than just robot vacuum. Xiaomi devices, fans, cameras etc.

@Michel Aufderhaar Ohhh sorry I misread the message thought you were talking about the mi home App, I have not used the Roborock App, thought the Roborock App controlled the Robot within the mi Home App, sorry for the mix up. PS I did look at the Roborock App and read some of the reviews below. I noticed some of the users stated they couldn't save Maps, had stability issues and looks like the Roborock App only supports S4 and S6 but I am wondering if they were on the correct Region network? When I used the MI Home App 2 years ago I had to dig through the different Regions to find the Roborock S5, since the robot was only for Asia and not the USA at the time.

Is the robot still connected to WiFi, try resetting the WiFi on the robot and pair again.

My S5 is not saving the map what should I do?

Launch you Mi Home App, Select the S5 Robot. Should be on the main menu where you see the map. Upper right corner of your screen you should see 3 vertical dots click on that to go to menu. Select Vacuum setting, make sure Map Saving Mode Enabled. Now have the robot di an entire cleaning run from start to finish from the dock. The robot will save the map.

@@Jamie-ww3yz Is the robot starting from the charger and cleaning the entire floor plan without interruption and returning back to the charger dock automatically? On the lower left hand of your screen you should see 3 horizontal lines with a pin. Click on it and select manage map. Do any maps load up? If you don't see anything, delete the app and reinstall it. See if that works

ItsVerosLife The mi home app houses the Roborock App but allows you to add other mi products, where as the Roborock App just for the robot vacuums. Both the mi home and Roborock app look the same

@@RobotMasters thank you I understand now. For the mi home app using Roborock S5 the mapping background is blue everywhere and does support mapping but does not support room division. For the mi home app with the Roborock S6, the mapping background is white and supports mapping and room division.
