What an exceptional final. Arnold did such a phenomenal job of driving and attacking, and if they did that good of a job with a quality weapon, they make a grand final. Pussycat the clear winners, but it was an incredible final.
And this right here is why Pussycat is my all time favorite. It's unbelievably reliable, hard to pin, and was expertly driven by David Gribble may he rest in peace
And with such a good attitude. They played with the admittedly slightly cringeworthy aspects of Extreme when needed, but they were clearly the best sportsmen behind Diotor, no wonder they were happy to sign up with them for the tag-team terror. Such a unique design too.
@@alexcasares7401 it would have. Thermidor wasnt changed much besides increasing the flipper power, i think with the right driving they couldve still sliced up the body and tires and probably won a judges decision, if they could stay in the arena. Hypno Disc would be another "first shot wins" fight like the Series 4 grand final ep. if pussycat hit the wheel again, same result. if not, then hypno disc with its disc running stronger than ever could tear them apart.
Wheely Big Cheese and Ming 3 would like to disagree with you! I think it's just a thing about the Annihilators that people with any sense go for the best bot of the lot - Chaos 2 found that out in the S4 Northern. Plus, this was at the same time as S5, which arguably was Hypno at their most destructive - maybe they just eased off the pressure for the special events? Like Razer, they were more about winning than putting on a show.
Yeah there is nothing worse than a match where the weapons don't work or when the house robots start attacking far too early and instead of a match between contestants we see house robots destroy a robot. I am not saying that happened in that match but it is annoying to see just like a broken robot in a battle just driving aimlessly.
Hypno-Disc was the biggest threat it could immobilise any of the others wit ha single hit if it go up to speed, it's natural they would target it like they did. Might not seem fair, but it's sound tactics. Still, poor HP, he always been my favourite but he did deserve the kicking he got after all the kicking he'd dne lol!
@@brainspider also Hypno-Disc relies entirely on getting enough time and space to spin the disc up, and in an arena with 5 other robots, you're not gonna get that time. Maybe if they made it to the final rounds we would have seen it, but an Annihilator is far too chaotic for a weapon that needs time to spin up before you use it.
I think just to be safe, it might be best to continue the episode count in the title so it's not viewed out of order. All of the robots in this annihilator earned their place through fights shown in the previous 6 episodes that came before it.
Didn't see much mention about what happened to Pussycat in round one. It stopped moving slightly after Thermidor. Pussycat very fortunate for the Thermidor breakdown. Round four as well with the hit on Splinter. Losing that blade would of been troublesome if Splinter hadn't been KO''ed.
Really incredible that Arnold made it to the final. I really thought they would have gone out round 1! Well done to them and of course well done to Pussycat for winning. Bad time for Hypno Disc, but it mirrors how poorly Chaos 2 did in the Northern Annihilator in series 4. They're the favourites so people target them. Combine it with Hypno Disc's poor reliability and luck and it meant they only got as far as they did by pure luck. Poor Thermidor II as well, I like the robot but they just broke down. Stinger kind of got revenge on Hypno Disc by surviving longer than them!
Well that first fight was an anticlimax. Thermidor - the most impressive bot in its initial heat, getting OOTAs on Behemoth and Stinger - broke down. And Hypnodisc and Pussycat (the only other bots I rate) didn't do much either. Hypnodisc will always be at a disadvantage in a brawl like this when it doesn't have the space to spin up. Second fight - Xterminator is usually quite reliable, this time just broke down at the last minute. The whole thing was a real confused brawl. Third fight, HypnoDisc broke down, so after that it was just a tussle to see who could push them down the pit. So then we have just Arnold Terminegger and Splinter - the two most unlikely entrants who I woulda thought were cannonfodder - and Pussycat. Fourth heat - both the naffbots sorry axebots ganged up on Pussycat but Pussycat is just too good a chassis (can't say the same for the weapon). And Splinter broke down first. All I can say is, Arnold Terminegger works a hell of a lot better than it looks - it looks like a Season 2 bot. Well the final fight was all Pussycat, though Arnold did very well to last the distance and it was a good battle. But Pussycat had more speed, and it's such a roly-poly bouncy bot it's almost impossible to trap. So all things being equal (i.e. no breakdowns or accidental lucky hits) it was going to win. Before the start, I would have bet on Thermidor (not Hypnodisc, simply because it's at a disadvantage in a brawl when other bots can gang up on it before it has time or room to spin up).
A slight problem in reference to the next episode is that I cannot find the next DVD needed. I'll hopefully find it ASAP, but if not, I'll upload from two episodes after that and then upload the missing episodes when Challenge or Sky 2 repeat it again.
Series 4 Heat N was broadcast but they didn't show the heat final. As a result, I deleted the episode to make space to re-record it when it was broadcast again at the weekend, but they didn't reshow it (no reason not to) so I don't have any of the episode, I'm afraid.
18:08 You would be if you went one on one with them it is a shame Arnold A did not get past the 5th war qualifiers against Kan Opener although they would have had to beat Atomic before fighting Hypno Disc and Atomic is very strong.
Such a good episode, I love Pussycat and Hypno-Disk, but I like when the underdogs do exceptionally well! Gribble was such a good sport to Arnold. It wasn't pure luck like Spikasaurus winning the Northern Annihilator in the fourth wars. I don't know if anyones noticed but I think the Splinter boy has a slight learning disabilty.
I think he was just camera shy. Cause sometimes he kept looking over at the camera nervously during post-battle interviews, some people don't like being on camera
HYPNO-DISC PUSSYCAT THERMIDOR 2 AND SPLINTER MET EACH OTHER BEFORE IN SERIES 4. HYPNO-DISC AND THERMIDOR 2 WENT OUT AGAINST PUSSYCAT, AND SPLINTER WENT OUT AGAINST HYPNO-DISC.
Chaos 2 and Hypno-Disc are not very good in the Annihilator. At least Hypno-Disc didn’t get eliminated in the first round just like Chaos 2. Both Chaos 2 and Hypno-Disc got ganged up. The annihilator is all about surviving, it's not about being gentle.
To be arguably honest, I think Hypno Disc should have won the annihilator because the disc causes a lot of damage. Gee I'd love to have seen Hypno Disc challenging Tornado for the Challenge Belt.
HypnoDisc vs Tornado - I'm not so sure. HypnoDisc can shred most bots, but Tornado is a very well-armoured bot, and fast. If I was Tornado, I'd just charge straight into HypnoDisc (hopefully before they got their disc up to full speed) and push them around the arena. So I'd be betting on Tornado for that one.
