In Part 2 what do you guys want me to talk about from 2000-2004?
@TaeCanDraw

1. Definitely Ye's rise from producer to rap superstar 2. Beans vs. Jadakiss beef 3. Roc-A-Fella films

@@TaeCanDraw Yep! All three i'm talking about. Especially Ye because people really wasn't looking at him as a rapper at first but Dame took a chance and as you can see it really paid off

The rise homie....the meat of the whole Roc-A-Fella run. Talk about the Hard knock life tour...How Jay became King of New York after BIG died....of course his beefs with Mobb Deep and Nas....Roc-A-wear clothing, Armadale Vodka, Grammy boycott...etc

I'm from Long Island New York I'm 44 years old and I grew up on all kinds of music especially rap starting in the early 80's due to having very young parents. I was 19 when Reasonable Doubt came out one of the best albums ever. That decade had the best rap, best sneakers and best clothing. I was so blessed to be a young dude in New York during that era. Great doc homie keep up the good work

Lol just puts a tear to my eye bro. Just glad to see you Dre, doing the research and putting together such a documentary like this for the older guys to reminisce and the younger dudes to see what music was looking like during that time. It was a great time back then. You see now that the more work you put into a doc you will find yourself in that imfamous algorithm lol. Great work bro.

I bought "Reasonable Doubt" on the strength of "Can't Knock a Hustle" with Mary J Blige on the radio and was really impressed by it. ATCQ's album dropped about that time too and I thought I was gonna rock with that one but instead Jay's album found much more time in my cd player.

My mom used to tell me when I was a kid that she went to a Jay-Z concert in 99', got backstage, and eventually ended up going back to his hotel with him after the show. She said they spent the night together, got close, but then never spoke again after she left the next day. Crazy thing is tho that 9 months later I was born.. #longlostdaddyJay

I go in-depth with multiple perspectives from people who were there. Jay Z, Biggs, Dame, Ski Beatz, Kenny Ski from Christión, Jaz O, Adrien Vargas (Art Director for Reasonable Doubt), Jonathan Mannion (photographer for Jay-Z), Amen-Ra, Memphis Bleek, etc. This has taken weeks to do. I did my best to dig and be fair by using multiple perspectives from people who were there during this period. Did my best by including a lot of things but also well aware that this video could of been 3 hours in itself

This was a nice trip down memory lane while learning new things. Looking forward to the next 2/3 parts. Watching this though, I’ve realized it’s extremely difficult to cover everything about RocAFella. I was looking forward to to hearing about Peedi Peedi aka Peedi Crakk, plus the rest of State Property and more Dipset. I mean, maybe in the next 2 parts, but it will be difficult. I still appreciate your content tho. Keep grinding, Homie. [x]
@cloutcancun
@cloutcancun 3 года назад
Thanks for the love! The reason why I didn't talk about Dipset or State Property in this episode is that this first episode is about the late '80s to 1999. State Property and Dipset both didn't even drop their debuts yet. Nobody on Dipset was on the ROC yet and I think before 2000 only Beanie, Oschino and somebody else (can't remember off of the top of my head) was signed to ROC. I've expanded the series to 4 episodes now (as I'll state in the new episode releasing probably tomorrow) The next episode will be about 2000 to 2002. I talk about Cam and State Property in it because they officially dropped their albums during them years. Come home with me, Beanie had the truth and the reason and the state property debut album

Respect my man! Jay is the greatest and BP1 is my favorite. The state property branch of the roc is the most intriguing to me. Philly was ready to ride for “this thing of ours”.

Really enjoyed this. Thank you. That next video gonna be crazy. All those artists, plus blueprint is easily Jay's best work. Not to mention the was the start of the just blaze and kanye era

Can't wait for that one! There's a lot of stuff I gotta talk about and just makes me sad that the ROC really had a dynasty going for themselves.

@@cloutcancun makes me sad to a point. But when you think about it this layer groundwork for everything. The signing of labels. Hell kanyes finally got an opportunity. Which later he helps Cudi, drake and 40 have been quoted defining their sound around the 808s and heartbrakes sound. Like a lot of domino's start here. Amazing time in hip hop

You got a new subscriber to your channel. Just got through watching this and about to watch part 2. I remember this era like it was yesterday. I was in high school at the time and I remember Roc-a-fella just took over the industry alongside Ruff Riders, Murder Inc, No Limit, Cash Money, even Aftermath. Right off the heels of Death Row and Bad Boy. Keep up the good work.
